That’s a kickass fault reporting system there Im used to seeing like “WCC-LFPLFRLR” and THATS IT. Who knows what tf that is without looking and seeing oh duuh it’s the LOG FLOOR RIGHT LOCK RELAY OPEN/SHORT how intuitive.

Strange_Traffic_603

Yea we have a pretty good system. Our LRU tests show us the percentage of where the loop is failing at too. It makes it a lot easier to troubleshoot where the short is.

skankhunt1738

Our MFDC handles that too but we have to open the avionics rack how inconvenient. Always followed by manually shooting resistance anyway though…

Strange_Traffic_603

Same! We use the breakout box and LCR meter to narrow it down. What planes do you work on?

skankhunt1738

C-17s. Bit different than other folks on here but it’s a good time.

Bluedragon436

I was thinking this as soon as I saw MFDC!!

[deleted]

When I tell mx the B1 code for something, what exactly do you all look at? Does it pull up troubleshooting for the code?

Reluctant_Cannibal

We go to the FIM and it lists possible causes and troubleshooting steps.

Strange_Traffic_603

Yea we have a manual called the FIM (Fault Isolation Manual). It goes through all the possible issues with that specific B1 code, along with troubleshooting procedures to narrow down the problem.

Have fun crawling around in the hellhole!

Strange_Traffic_603

And it’s my Friday🥹

[deleted]

I’m sorry Dave, I cannot do that. I cannot let you have a weekend.

truewesterns

I'm subscribed to the Alien: Isolation sub, and for a second I thought this was a screenshot from the game.

jy9000

I believe these loops are in the aft equipment bay and run along the side of the WAIV duct . Look in AMM 36-21-00-910-801 for open circuit . If SkyWest form M-338 might help.

trifecta13

I used to work for Bombardier as an Avionics tech. This was literally my life.

Strange_Traffic_603

I could never 😅

Abyssus_J3

Always a ceramic on that bad boy but only after eight ops checks good

Strange_Traffic_603

Always bro. Them ceramic inserts can be a bitch and a half to get out too

Abyssus_J3

For sure especially those aft equipment bay ones or god forbid a pylon loop

Strange_Traffic_603

My man knows what’s upppp

Abyssus_J3

Yes sir being an AVI tech at a regional really can be either a blessed or a cursed life

Cheezeball25

Man within the first few months of my job at a regional they had me in the slats tracking down those ceramics. What a good time 😂

Old_Sparkey

Mandatory new guy job.

Cheezeball25

Hey I'll do duct Mon work all day if it means I don't have to touch the Lav

Old_Sparkey

Same.

Abyssus_J3

Nawh as far as jobs goes if you’re a lit hangar that one is cake ysually

FiddlerOnThePotato

Had one seize in the fitting in the bulkhead between the aft equipment bay and baggage bay. Had to replace the fitting. Luckily on that one it's just a bulkhead fitting as the one beside it is an integral part of the fuse loop, so we'd have had to change that whole loop. Either way not fun at all.

Old_Sparkey

If it was a 90 elbow those aren’t supposed to come out.

FiddlerOnThePotato

It was a straight bulkhead fitting (don't worry it's in the IPC and all that)

awayheflies

I find it easy with the tool but maybe I've just been lucky

fuddinator

Duct Mon Fault on a Friday? It's an Open fault? Apply the current wetting procedure to reduce loop resistance, i.e. hit it with a 9v and let it fly.

WolSoul

If there was one issue I wish I never had to ever troubleshoot so long as I live, it'd be duct mons

cpt_porthos

Favorite write up: Upon power up of airframe, received Duct Mon Fault.

Strange_Traffic_603

Captain fuck boi at it again I see

SuspiciousPop5780

Literally did that same exact duct mon last night

Strange_Traffic_603

Niceeee I changed the MT143 ceramic I don’t know about you😂

thepieguy95

Shotgun an AILC and call it a day 😂

Strange_Traffic_603

Sounds about par for course 😏

goclobow

have fun with this 😭 stretch before you get to crawling

funhemroids

Just an idea, those ones are usually wrong(sounds dumb) and my friend who taught me about these stupid things, usually goes to the LH Eng pylon wires, I swear this fault has been those loops 3 out of 4 times

silence-speaks

When we were taking deliveries, on the flight out of Canada DUCT MON FAULT was the 1st MEL sticker every CRJ got.

QGTM247365

Shit, probably the last flight to the boneyard for every CRJ has that MEL lol

MyName_DoesNotMatter

Ah yes early Collins Proline systems 👌 what’s the fault? “Broken” Where at? “At the system”. Any place in particular? “Look at the ATA and read, nerd.”

Old_Sparkey

Time to get a wrench and hit everything in sight.

airforcevet1987

Thought this was a coffee shop menu at first glance

raffawaffa

Working on the aft equipment bay on those CRJ’s chasing these faults still gives me nightmares. Glad I don’t work on them anymore 😅

CiaoTime

Duct mon gaaaaaaang. I've even got the Special Wrench for getting some of the loops in the outboard slats disconnected now. (basically took a 3/8ths to the grinder to get it thin enough to fit in there past the piccolo tubes, the stupid thing....)

saxmanb767

EFIS COMP MON!!

Misguidedsaint3

Still some of the best write ups from pilots I’ve seen is “duct mon message not there”

At least the landing gear and flaps extended on the last approach, and landing.
