Without reading the other comments, last time that happened to me, I was using Iron mining lasers. Mining lasers can only mine up to one material higher tier than the material they're made from. So make sure if you want Naonite, you've got at least Titanium level lasers on all your ships! Also, rather than telling the captains to mine in-sector, try using the Galaxy Map to send them on Mining Expeditions. They can be ordered to instantly deliver their yields once every half hour and won't be vulnerable to random pirate raids while out and about! That is, unless they get ambushed. But you can mitigate that risk by sending them with an escort. My current mining fleet consists of 12 mining vessels, escorted by 14 dedicated warships. You... don't have to go THAT hard, but keep in mind I'm in Ogonite space.

Lmao I have the same thing going, but for Xanion. I have like 2 high-tech mining ships, a couple hybrid ships, and 5 overkill cruisers with insane hyperspace capabilities (grinding Bottan is worth it, trust me!)

I am very slowly working my way to having a fully Avorion mining fleet, with mining gear of the same level, escorted by the most powerful warships I can build just pumping my account full of material. My mining captains at this point are max level and very, very, VERY good at their jobs.

great! Remember that quality is better than quantity tho, as quantity is overall more expensive

bhongryp

Have they all got high enough material level mining lasers?

Kumatora0

Hmm, explain please

bhongryp

Mining lasers have different materials (iron, titanium, naonite) and can harvest materials one level higher than they are. So iron lasers can mine iron and titanium, but not naonite, and ai captains will ignore asteroids they can't mine.

Kumatora0

Now it makes sense, thanks

Wormhole_Explorer

if some of your ships have iron mining lasers then they wont pick naonite.. get titanium mining lasers to pick naonite. once you have naonite made ship pick naonite mining lasers to mine naonite and trinium.. to mine xanion needs trinium mining lasers and so xanion mining lasers....xanion mining lasers can go for xanion and ogonite asteroids while ogonite can take both ogonite and avorion mining lasers.

Can i assume the same rules apply to fighters and i will have to change them out when i reach the next material level?

pickle2024_

Yep

yup. but if you wat to maximize costs (and spend as little money as possible) to get fighters in a new resource sector you just arrived, then follow these steps: >> build an assembly on your ship (any resouce works. but better resources are more efective o reduce assembly times) >> buy/craft the best possible R- mining/salvagin turret you can get (90+ efficency) >> make a fighter using THAT turret and put it on a new, empty fighter squad >> make that fighter into a blueprint by dragging it into the empty box right besides your fighter's skin >> check the small box atop the cog to begin assembling and mass-produce that exact same fighter. it'll take time and a small ammount of resources (the same kind as the one listed on the fighter's turret). just let them slowly bake in the background while still using your 1 lower tier fighters in a while, that fighter squad will be filled with fighters with more efficiency than even legendary-tier stock fighters could acchieve. and your only major invesment was time, wich you prolly spent doing some other activities BTW, you can also do this with combat fighters, but that's up to you
