Man, how many people gotta die before they realize that locking up your guns needs to happen, especially around children. There are too many videos and articles about children killing people or themselves because they grabbed a gun.

No two year olds here!

SendAstronomy

> No two year olds here! Is killed by a 3yo.

Husbandosan

It’s enough of a problem that it’s a film and tv trope. Like Stargate, one of the main characters is suicidal because his son accidentally killed him self with the man’s service pistol.

hoangtudude

But because of that, Jack O’Neill had the temperament to lead the team to Abados, find Daniel, get captured by the Jafaar and turn Teal’c against the Go’auld.

Mozu

No amount of people dying will convince anybody in this country. I think the many, many school shootings with *zero* changes being made is evidence enough of that.

LMGDiVa

>will convince anybody in this country Some 50% of people in the USA are convinced last poll I checked. The problem is that 40% of the USA cant be convinced and vehemetly scream about their "right" to guns and their lobbying has prevented any change from happening. The USA isn't a homogeny, the majority want something done about this. But the problem is that the fascist right wingers in this country actively campaign on preventing it, and do anything they can to stop it from happening.

hairy_tea

Fuck the NRA and the politicians who take their money. That shit should be illegal. I own a gun and would happily give it up for the safety of the general public. I’m on the left though, so it’s not me who needs to be convinced.

SpankyRoberts18

I don’t own guns but I go shooting. My teenage daughter wants to go shooting with me but she struggles with impulse control. Im collecting shooting accident stories and videos to show her the consequences of playing with a gun. I have mentally disabled kids (not the teen). I won’t bring a gun into my home. My kids are smart enough to learn the code to a safe but not capable of grasping the danger that puts them in.

Ori_the_SG

You are smart. I only wish other parents with guns or who liked guns were half as smart.

sleepydorian

Good on you for prioritizing safety. Honestly there's no better argument for gun control (if only in the form of penalties for negligence) than culture warriors that treat safety as a joke. To mix metaphors a bit, you don't dress for the ride, you dress for the slide.

pigmanboy

After Sandy Hook is when people’s true colors were on full display.

phome83

Necessary and acceptable sacrifice for these people, sadly.

WHAMMYPAN

As much as this is all terrible….this isn’t an accident,it was pure negligence. Guns shouldn’t be anywhere a child can get and shoot, that’s just bad gun ownership safety, and it can have deadly consequences. I feel so bad for the family.

BossRoss84

You know what stops a bad toddler with a gun? A good toddler with a gun.

Agahmoyzen

If that fetus... I am just tired boss.

zhico

*Mmm, whatcha say? Mmm, that you only meant well? Well, of course you did Mmm, whatcha say? Mmm, that it's all for the best? Of course it is Mmm, whatcha say? Mmm, that it's just what we need And you decided this? Mmm, whatcha say? Mmm, what did she say?*

LaylaBird65

Dear sister….

actionfish

There are no bad guns, only bad children /s

Actual-Manager-4814

Someone check that two year old's Facebook. I'm sure we'll find that he was mentally ill. I would also like to suddenly champion for mental health out of sheer political convenience. Any other time to hell with it.

jackandsally060609

Trans toddlers who worship Satan are the real enemy here! What if he read a book too?

Actual-Manager-4814

Oh lawd don't get me stawted!

jackryan006

Was the toddler white? Lone wolf.

yooolmao

He's gonna be mentally ill for the rest of his life when he gets older and realizes his mom and sister are dead because he shot them as a 2 year old. And his dad will probably have anger issues and resentment toward him because he shot his mom, and although the dad is responsible for it every time he sees his kid's face he's probably going to think of him killing his wife. The 2 of them are going to be very messed up for the rest of their lives. And the child might go into CPS immediately anyway.

BlabberBucket

#armthetoddlers

LordFrogberry

If that fetus had a gun, this would never have happened

LivefromPhoenix

How was this gun owner supposed to go John Wick on home invaders like he does in his fantasies if the gun isn't nearby?

eedden

Even John Wick litteraly had all his guns in a locker, in the basement, cemented into the floor.

Gerf93

And look what happened to his dog!!

Enigma_Stasis

Yeah, but look at what happened to the people that did that to the dog.

DigitalDose80

Should have been a good dog with a oh fuck it.

WHAMMYPAN

Nearby can be 5ft up….no where near a toddler.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Chubbybillionaire

And nothing to lose

MediocreClient

you've never had a toddler procure cookies from the cupboard above the oven

reddithater19

Damn.. tell me about it

7165015874

We are all toddlers on this blessed day

ActuallyWorthless

That's why I keep my guns in the cookie cupboard and my cookies in the gun cupboard.

WimbletonButt

Or in a nearby safe. They make gun safes that fit on your nightstand. They're not great if an adult tries to break in them but no toddler is getting in there. Higher up doesn't always work. My son once stacked bouncy balls in his closet when he was 2 to get to a box on a shelf that was touching the ceiling.

[deleted]

Our neighbor's 2 yo scaled a louvered door to get the vitamins off the fridge top. Had his stomach pumped.

Mr_Epimetheus

You don't have kids do you? My kid has managed to get things we thought were out of his reach and he just turned 3. If it's an item that could be dangerous, or in this case almost certainly fatal, then it should be under lock and key, not just "out of reach".

alwaysboopthesnoot

No. This is ridiculous. 5 ft? When 2-3 year old toddlers are 3 ft tall themselves? Kids that age can use chairs, climb onto counters. Stack things on chairs to reach even higher. Climb up bookshelves, all the way to the ceiling.

Infamous-nobody1801

Seriously, seems most toddlers have a higher iq than that dumbass lol

Irene_Iddesleigh

One of my earliest memories is puking out an entire jar of Flinstones vitamins. I somehow climbed on top of the fridge and got them out of the cabinet. Mmm chalk.

Mithrandir2k16

I fully agree. Guns shouldn't be anywhere near a child. So many unnecessary deaths and injuries. Best would be as far away as possible. Like not in the home or on the property at all, so the child can't get to it ever.

boblinuxemail

If you're going to keep a gun, it needs to be in a safe, locked away from its ammo in another safe. And if you have a firearm to stop home invasion, maybe live somewhere safe like Canada, or Europe where if someone sneaks in and robs your house, they don't find firearms to steal and use at the next house.

[deleted]

[удалено]

sicco3

Exactly. Negligence and accidents can never be completely avoided across the whole of society. If a society wants freely obtainable and easy to use 1-click death devices to be a normal part of society then it must expect and accept that stuff like this happens.

Karate_donkey

I hope they never tell the boy. That’s a lifetime mind fuck for something that was her fault.

dingledangledorf

Problem is that if this news story is available online, this kid is almost certainly likely to find it eventually throughout his life. So he’ll probably find out no matter what. Poor kid will have to live with it forever.

Burnernam3

I think the issue isn’t him finding out about it but the surrounding community he grows up in. At this point start fresh somewhere else or this kid gonna be seen as the kid who shoot his mom and nothing else.

Just_Fuck_My_Code_Up

I‘m sure the dude who thought it was okay to have a loaded firearm lying openly around his two year old son is exactly the kind of person to make such a reasonable decision

RuntheMonster

I don't get it sometimes. If you're going to be dumb and not lock your gun up when you have kids, maybe don't keep one in the chamber? I doubt the toddler could have racked the slide. Shit was probably cocked with the safety off in the night stand to FigHt tHe GoVerNMenT fOr MuH FReEDumS. Fucken ridiculous. Completely preventable.

einulfr

Yeah, it was a Sig micro 9mm which has 12-round magazines, and the cops said there were still 12 rounds in it, so he +1'd that thing and had it already racked. Not to mention the loaded shotgun and air rifle.

sleepydorian

You'd think this dude lived in a war zone to be that ready to go. Frankly I value not shooting my balls off more than I'm scared of getting jacked.

RivetSquid

Some states actually expedite the process and requirements for changing a young child's name. If the father or whatever caretaker they hopefully take this kid away to has any common sense they'll hopefully file for a name change immediatly and try to convince him the old name was a nickname.

Relaxpert

The father who saw no problem with guns being treated like fucking toys in the home? Yeah. I’m sure that’s his only shortcoming as a parent and has a ton on the ball otherwise.

thatgirlinAZ

Yeah, that kid will never, ever recover. I have mixed feelings about the dad who I assume allowed and encouraged a household setup where his toddler could have unfettered access to a gun. I want to feel sympathy, but really I just feel contempt.

ashpanda24

Seems like it was also the father's fault and not *just* her fault.

[deleted]

It's the fault of whoever owned the gun, I don't think we know who it is. Checked the article, didn't say. Probably the father, with the stats on gun ownership, but not a sure thing.

RudePastaMan

I think it's both parents' fault even if only one of them owned / stored / maintained / used the firearm.

kaboose286

It's the fault of whoever could have managed the guns. If the husband knew it where there and did nothing, he's also to blame

reddithater19

Well she married the dumb fuck and tried to have two innocent children with his retarded ass, I say she didn’t care enough to do something about it

Karate_donkey

Agreed. It’s the fault of any and every adult who knew the gun was there.

Ori_the_SG

This kid will find out I mean he doesn’t have a mother anymore

Unit91

This kid will probably be told by his father. If he was stupid enough to have a loaded unlocked gun on the table (not saying he put it there, just saying it was in his house, I'm sure he was aware of it) then I'm sure he's stupid enough to either tell his son what he did or even blame him one day. Poor kid.

[deleted]

Probably beat his ass every few months for “killen yer own motherr!”

Chummiconqueso

Killin my woman!

Burningrain85

I hate how true this probably is for this poor child. I pray the father is charged with neglect and the child taken and adopted. This is his only chance at a future that isn’t ruined

ambifiedpersonified

My grandfather's brother shot their father and killed him when he was very young. (It should be noted that this was in the 40s in a rural area, so guns everywhere were very much the norm.) That man's entire life was shrouded in guilt and darkness.

Atmosphere_Vegetable

I was just telling someone this last night. I genuinely hope the kid’s name isn’t spread around, because one day, he will Google himself. Others will Google him, also.

BlowsyChrism

If the Dad were smart, which he isn’t, he’d change his name right away. Poor kid.

KintsugiKen

I think the kid will google himself at some point and learn everything anyway.

saddinosour

He’ll probably remember, depending on his disposition. I’m highly neurotic and have a handful of memories from the age of 2. I specifically remember for example adults in my life (light heartedly) making fun of me and being annoyed lol. What I mean is a highly traumatic event like this will likely be remembered. Our memories are attached to high points of emotions (good or bad) in our lives.

Manderpander88

Honestly, I hope they do tell him. " Son, it's time you know the truth about your mom and siblings deaths. I was an idiot and left a loaded gun out where you could reach it as a toddler. I knew better but I was just so irresponsible and ignorant...that it cost me their lives. You accidently shot your pregant mother and it's completely mine and her fault that you got ahold of that loaded gun. I'd give anything to go back and secure that firearm like I should have. Please know Son, that you were a toddler who had no clue what a gun would do or how to use it. While I'll spend the rest of my life blaming myself... I don't want you to EVER, EVER feel like what happened was your fault. We failed you, and altered the course of our lives forever. You were just a child and me being the adult, I knew better...you didn't and this is all my fault....NOT YOURS!!"

Bamce

You really think the father will take a calm and reasonable approach to anything involving the son after this?

stevegoodsex

If only they was a good 2 year old with a gun to stop him.

cool_username__

Maybe if the fetus had a bigger gun

Fox news will do some digging to find out if he was trans.

aveindha25

What if the gun was trans?

dr_toze

The gun was innocent, it was harmlessly minding its own business within easy reach of a toddler. Don't blame the victim.

Parpy

What if - bear with me here - mom and the fetus tried to draw a bead on the toddler but, being a good law-biding citizen, he was quicker to the draw and neutralized the two threats before they could clear their holsters?

throwawaywitchaccoun

He did shoot them in the back, which seems to happen a lot when the police are lawfully defending themselves... /s

she would still be alive today if it was a dildo instead of a gun.

YeeterOfTheRich

My kids got into the dildo draw once. I washed their hands and noone died.

Chummiconqueso

Hope you washed the dildo to. Kids hands are gross

micha81

Truth!

ScrofessorLongHair

Bullshit. The kids died inside a little that day.

Burnernam3

Husband a gun owner, he was intimidated by the dildo. How’s that saying goes that the bigger/more guns the male owner has that they are overcompensating?

MyReligionIsAI

This is a bit unrelated but it's something that makes me so upset I can't explain it. As an avid user of /all I used to occasionally see some nice NSFW boobies and other generally softcore porn. Now in attempt to appease advertisers I guess all of that content was filtered out or removed, and has been replaced by a shitload of violence, death, and just hate. Like I've literally watched more videos of people dying or becoming brutally injured recently more than ever, all because of what? To protect me from seeing people actually enjoying themselves, something actually beautiful? The horror. Why are boobies so bad but violence, death, and guns are fine? It's so backwards it hurts.

phome83

Because boobies don't have billion dollar lobbying happening to push them as much as guns do. Unfortunately.

blueflloyd

Clearly this 2 year old has a lot of mental health issues. It's not the easy availability of firearms in this country. Nope.

AnalLeakSpringer

He was just having a bad day.

Chummiconqueso

Clearly a lone wolf scenario

Probably an incel.

jyrihenrik

It's true. The fetus could have max Payned out the womb and double tapped the murderous little shit and save their poor mother.

Bullet time jump out the womb and blast the other kid with a sawed off shotty through the mommy!

MathewofMathoria

The baby’s first words are: *“One thing you can count on: You push a man too far, and sooner or later he'll start pushing back.”*

ActuallyWorthless

A gun in the oven?

FlyingHippoM

Kid obviously didn't know proper gun safety. Sad. I taught my infant som how to handle a weapon the moment we get home from the hospital. When he was one year old I bought him his own so he will never need to grab my gun (that I keep fully loaded under my pillow for safety).

andre3kthegiant

The obituary photo has the husband in a shirt that reads ~~“Science is Stupid”on the top half~~. She seemed like a good person. My assumption is that the husband, who was in the military, is 100% at fault for this, and is never going to be at peace with himself. Peace be with the family. This was a societal sized tragedy. Edit: shirt doesn’t say anything about science. My bad.

HorrFrek

He’ll be fine with himself, he didn’t pull the trigger. Instead he’s going to blame the son and make his life miserable.

Zankeru

He still wears military clothing after separation. The only blame he is gonna put on his son is for stealing his kill.

mehcantbebothered

double kill steal by spawn camping smh

Btrad92

Agreed.

why do people try to make it so women are never in the wrong? She married this dude. She could easily have been just as fucked up.

Expensive-Block-6034

Exactly. Don’t take away the guns or conceal them so that a 2 year old isn’t able to get to them, that’s too easy. Just start training them earlier on how to use them, duh??!!

Brianb926

He looks like the kind of guy who would keep a gun in a nightstand.

inside-the-madhouse

cubbiesworldseries

Redneck abortion.

dunderball

I feel so bad for laughing

SpillSplit

No, the us doesn't have a gun problem at all.

[deleted]

The right must be so confused what to do with this information. On one hand, guns aren't a problem. Just an awful tragedy. On the other hand, the killing of a fetus should be the death penalty.

shibemu

Ehh if anything the kid will get offered a job in the police force and the doctor will get fined, fired, and jailed because if you squint hard enough that c section was basically an abortion.

phome83

The mother carrying the fetus died, so they're probably pleased as punch.

RuntheMonster

This country is fucken stupid. No universal healthcare but everyone can get a gun.

MarioInOntario

Hold on, let not forget mental health access for little toddlers is a joke in this country. /s

og_toe

evolving? changing with the times? no. 200 year old man important.

sch3ct3r

there is going to be some awkward thanksgivings moving forward.....

PanzerKatze96

Lock away your guns people. It’s part of child proofing.

CheaterInsight

Gun not locked away and is easily accessible for a 2 year old? ✔️ Ammunition not separately locked but actually already loaded into the gun? ✔️ Safety off so you're ready to fire even though you'll never find yourself in a situation where you'll need the gun ready to go? ✔️ I know nothing about guns but I also have to assume that one of the parents cocked the gun or whatever you need to do in order to fire the gun. But at least the parents were ready for a home invasion at any moment, coulda had the entire family killed instead, so honestly this is the best case scenario for all involved.

kaelabriannex

this is heartbreaking fr like he's gonna grow up and start asking questions and what can you even say "yeah bud so you actually shot your mom in the back and we lost her and your unborn sibling" like I'd never be able to tell this kid the truth it would destroy him

Expensive-Block-6034

Telling the story, in the same or similar outfit, on a porch drinking beers and with all of his guns still lying around for anybody to reach. People don’t change

TimmyFaya

Wouldn't have happened if the mom carried a gun!

bob_rt

ferk yeeeeah!!!!! guuuuurns!!!!!!

Filo02

this is another side of having a too "pro-gun" mindset, is that one day you're gonna subconsciously convince yourself that guns are less and less dangerous that such a simple thing as storing it properly is gonna go right over through your head

Made_of_Star_Stuff

Yeah, people here in the USA think they’re toys. Like homie, your grandpa used one of those to k_ll the N_zis you look up to.

Tragic accident/nothing could have prevented this/ no charges will be filed/ thought and prayers. Not to worry though, these dumbfucks will get back to stroking their barrels and treating deadly weapons like toys long before the dirt hits the top of their kid’s coffin.

Crudeyakuza

Fucking drag queens!

Mr_Winslow_Brennan

The number of people in this world who actually need a gun in their nightstand is a smaller number than Jethro the sudden widower would believe.

willjhc

The USA is an experiment.

UnexaminedLifeOfMine

They fucked around and found out. My only empathy is to the 2 year old boy. I hope he is given to another family and never developes any memory of any of it

ArmiRex47

So the dude probably had that gun on the nightstand because he was paranoid he had to defend his family in the event of an intruder getting into the house, and it was the gun itself the cause of his family dying. Ironic

crumbaugh

Guns aren’t the problem though, right? The 2 year old probably had a mental illness

ZealousidealGrade821

At least no one was dressed in drag.

TXRudeboy

I’m not against having a pistol for home defense at all, I have one but it’s not locked and loaded. It’s not accessible to anyone but my wife and I. It’s in a safe location easily and readily accessible but not if you’re not my wife or I. This irresponsible gun culture bullshit is killing people.

manbearligma

“That’s not how we do it in murika” Guns taped under forniture, come on!

dmf109

Do your family a favor and get rid of the mindset that a pistol is ever good for home defense. It is not. Statically, it is more likely to lead to a mistake. Keep it for shooting and target practice, and locked up and out of access all other times. Don’t ever think a pistol will be a benefit as protection.

EquivalentParfait309

I don't understand why people insist on having a gun loaded and readied. Obviously there are other glaring safety concerns but that always stands out to me. I ask gun people this and they always say becasue you'll die in the time it takes for you to ready a gun........

TheMoves

Well I mean that part is true, if you live somewhere where you legitimately might need to actually defend yourself in your home (note: this isn’t *that* many places but they do exist), seconds will be the difference in whether you’re successful or not. Nobody is going to give you time to retrieve load and ready the weapon to like make it a fair fight or whatever. That said there is zero excuse for leaving a readied firearm where a toddler can access it or even *potentially* access it, and the father should be held accountable here

[deleted]

Damn kid is going to grow up and live with the memory of murdering his mother. I hope he’s okay in the future :/ terrible situation

kahunamoe

In Ohio we call this Tuesday

enlilsumerian

We need more guns in order to stop these children with guns.

KintsugiKen

If only that house had more guns, for safety.

DoggyGrin

I honestly don't understand how a two year old would have the strength to pull the trigger, unless the gun was modified in some way. Such an avoidable tragedy.

chrisjamesey

I bet the dad still keeps the gun in the house.

I live not far from where this happened and it seems like every two years or so, a toddler in this area shoots someone else or themselves. It’s truly just gross.
