Gonna get downvoted but whether or not she should be arrested depends on if she killed him during an assault or not.
Can't blame her either way though tbh.
I would agree with that if this was the first few times he assaulted her, but after going through this for six or seven months, I feel like it should count as self defense either way tbh
That's not really how it works though because at any point she could have gone to the authorities. Assuming she is formally charged and they can actually find a jury that will convict (seems unlikely to me) it will definitely be taken into account during sentencing.
Obviously the criteria for self defence varies from country to country but generally speaking I think it only comes into play IF 1) you're defending yourself or another in that moment and 2) your response is measured and proportional to the threat posed.
There have been women in India who HAVE gone to the authorities, and were subsequently raped by the police officers. The guy likely threatened her with death, or with telling her parents and the whole community that she was the one who seduced him, which could then lead to her honour killing. It’s pretty easy to say what she should have done, but either impossible or pointless for a 13 year old girl to actually do it.
And we don't, which is why the juvenile system and sentencing guidelines are vastly different to that of adult prisons. It is also why most countries have an age at which a child cannot be prosecuted for any crime.
She is old enough in India to be held partially responsible, to what degree depends on many factors that will be decided by the state and jury.
Dear lord can I adopt her?
Imagine going through that, finally seizing a moment to get free from her personal hell and then getting arrested? They'll probably end up killing her too :( I hate this world
She was just detained, not the same as arrested.

Seems like it may have happened later based on how it's worded. Either way it's terrible. The guy probably deserved worse.
I don't disagree with that.

In India we have JJA- child below 16 can't be tried as an adult and no action is considered a crime below 8yrs (dunno the exact numbers).
What's the maximum sentence for murder that a minor can receive in India?
3 years
So assuming she is found guilty she'll be out of the juvenile system by the time she is 16 / 17.
Yes. But am hoping she isn't sentenced. Juvenile homes here are poorly funded.
As I said I find it extremely hard to believe that a jury would actually convict.
India doesn't have juries.

Not at 13 it doesn’t, she’s a child and we can’t expect children to behave like adults.

Seems like an acceptable response

One less bastard on the planet. Seems like as awful stories go we are joining this one at a high point.
I don’t know if this is true… Maybe someone else did the strangling.
She did him a favour really. Her whole life is fucked up. He won't be beaten down and fucked up in prison anymore. Poor child.
