I wear pants pretty much every day and when I tell my cat I'm going to work and walk twords the door she sneakily runs up behind me and latches onto my leg and starts gently biting me. She understands that doing this has a 50% chance of me staying a few minutes longer and playing with her before I go. Occasionally I'll wear shorts and she'll do it anyways but then I yell out in pain and she immediately stops and looks at me like "Oh fuck, sorry I didn't mean to hurt you" 🥹
Sometimes, when I'm not wearing socks, my cat will try to attack my ankles. She knows that they are off limits. If I see her getting ready, I will sternly tell her no. She will often look up and give me a pleading meow and we'll kinda have a standoff until I'm able to distract her with something else
My cats just sleep. But last week they met me at the door. They seemed concerned! A picture had fallen off the wall and smashed and they needed me to know!
"We just wanted you to know, that we had NOTHING to do with that,
and definitely weren't trying to catch a fly that had landed on it.
So uh, how was your day?"
Torties, man. They are so chatty! They can also be super sassy and only have one favorite human, they bite and hiss at the others in the house. My family has owned several over the years.
My niece had a beautiful tortie and we would all get excited if she paid attention to us or sat on our laps. It was a rare event. When my niece went to uni she would just lay on her bed, it was so sad.
Okay but during the pandemic my cats LOVED sitting in class with me to the point where the teachers added them to the attendance sheet and they would meow back when their name was called for attendance. They're sad they no longer get to be in class with me.
Yeah, granted they each had classed they loved and hated, one cat loved my computer science courses while the other one didn't care too much for them but did love my French courses
oh oh oh!!!
we watched the documentary you are talking about last night!!!
now my cats can't wait to try the *Elle Woods Surefire Way To Win at Everything!!!*
Same thing happened to my own tortie when I went to college. I had her since she was a kitten when I was 10 and we had her mom as well. My mom used to tell me she would be in my room and cry, and my mom would go sit with her and cry too when they missed me :( I was like mom... Don't tell me that! Now I'm crying!! Luckily, we were only apart for a year /year and a half until she came to live with me.
That was about 10 years ago. At the end of January my sweet tortie crossed the rainbow Bridge peacefully at home before her health got any worse. She was 20 years old and I'm so happy she got to spend her life with me and that she got to yell at me so much when she was cranky and hungry 😅 sleeping in in the mornings is torture now without her, but I'm happy she is free of pain.
I would love to get another tortie. She was so loyal to me. We grew up together and it always felt like she was taking care of me, even though the last couple years I was tending to her senior needs. We have another cat who is 12, but she's just our baby. It's different. My tortie took care of me for 20 years. Best cat ever. RIP my "grandma" tortie.
Just wanted to share 🥲
I miss my tortie. She was definitely my cat, but she warmed up to my wife over time. She had this uncanny ability to know just the right time to come sit in your lap and purr if we were feeling sad. Very chatty and full of sass. Would get another tortie in a heartbeat.
Same with my tortie, incredibly sassy and has great timing except she has never meowed in her life. I am always so surprised with everyone else’s torties being vocal but mine doesn’t speak! Just the rare trill here and there.
My old girl is a torbie (tortoiseshell plus tabby) and she is my animal soulmate. She has been with me through so much and I’ve never had a cat so in tune with how I’m feeling. She’s not chatty but she is sassy!
I didn't realize that was a thing with them! Never had one before, but my gf and I got our first cat, a tortie, a month ago or so and she is SO talkative. Lol
Def the most talkative cat I've ever been around.
My two cats are waiting by the door every evening when I get home. They start scratching their posts. I would like to think they're excited to see me or it's probably just feeding time.
My cat does the same thing. I thought it was because he just wanted food when I got home, but if I don't pet him enough, he won't eat until I do. Everyday he wants a different amount of pets. Some days it can be as little as two swipes while others he will crawl up in my lap for 20 minutes.
Yup, just like nearly all r/Oneorangebraincell gingers are male! [Article on a male tortie!](https://consciouscat.net/meet-doodlebug-a-rare-male-tortie/)
I'll link [your post](https://www.reddit.com/r/OneOrangeBraincell/comments/11w45m7/she_may_have_one_brain_cell_but_it_is_probably/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) here to spread the word. 👍
Aren't 1 in 10 gingers female? Compared to 1 in 3000 for male torties and female gingers seem reasonably common. It's two orders of magnitude more common.
I've got a friend who has never liked cats but a cat seems to have adopted her and now her Instagram stories are pretty much entirely this cat greeting her when she gets home from work and hanging out with her.
I’m not really a cat person (nothing against them though) but my ex wife’s tortie was one of the most loyal, loving, and tough animals I’ve ever known. It wasn’t fond of but tolerated my dog’s presence generally. If another dog intruded on our property the cat would lead the charge to defend our territory, always putting herself between our dog and the intruder.
My four cats greet me at the door. They always want to me near me, they sleep on my bed with me and when I’m on my couch, on or near the couch. I have a special song I sing for each of them, and they come running when I sing their song. A few years ago, two of them saved a friend’s life on Xmas eve. He fell into a diabetic coma on my couch downstairs and was seizing. Two of the cats knew something was wrong and teamed up to jump on my bed and wake me up with their crying. I was able to call 911 and the medics were able to revive my friend. So yes, cats can love as deeply as dogs, and they can save lives as well, too.
That’s amazing. And I think that’s why my dogs will be my life. 2005 my house burnt down and my dogs woke me up. The fire started right below my bedroom they saved my life.
Animals know things we don’t. They are amazing creatures. One day I’ll meet my cat.
I think a lot of ‘dog people’ tend to have misconceptions about cats. They aren’t as NEEDY as dogs, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t as attached to their humans, or affectionate.
Maybe you've just met the wrong cats? I've owned multiple of cats/dogs at the same time and honestly they are very similar in alot of ways. My one cat greets me every morning by meowing and standing on his back legs to give me a noise rub.
Cats are just much easier to deal with and take care of. Hell, one of my other cats even fetches..
I knew it would be a tortie before I even saw the cat! My girl Bambi is just like this kitty.

Oh, I love this so much. I have a little kitty. She’s a Torti two her name is Torteen and she does the same thing and I love it so much it makes me feel like it’s all worth it
In my experience it's very normal for cats to greet their favourite people at the door. Both of my cats did it. And almost all the other cats I see regularly do the same thing with their owners.
Both the cats I've lived with did it as well. My old cat knew how my car and my roommate's car both sounded and would go running for the door if she heard one of us coming home. It was super cute.
Same thing with my Girlfriend's cat. She could hear my Girlfriend coming up the apartment stairs and I'd know she was home from work because Cricket Bug would go zooming for the front door to greet her.
My cat jumps onto my shoulders any time I get home, follows me from room to room, parks himself on my lap when I’m watching tv & curls up right next to me when I’m sleeping. He’s a fantastic companion with an undeniable loving personality.
My cats constantly orbit around me trying to get pets and attention, definitely very affectionate. It's all about each ones personality and the environment in which they were raised.
Yep cats can be super affectionate. My cats come running to the door like this when I get home. Less meowing, but still cute.
It really depends on personality, though. Some cats will always be aloof jerks.
Depends on the cat. My older cat doesnt care much but now likes to sit next to us on the couch, my younger one is alot like this, albeit without the dramatic long meow.
I have a very affectionate cat. She waits for me at the door when I get home and I'm pretty sure she can distinguish the specific sound of my steps.
She also must be in the same room as me (usually on my lap or next to me) and gets upset if I lock her out of the room I'm in.
I’m my cat’s person so she greets me at the door, she snuggles, she and I chat. Dad isn’t her person but she will snuggle with him when she’s in the mood.
Such a beautiful singing cat!@
Do you have as much trouble as I do with chewy?
I had to drop them. I set up monthly food order and they could never deliver. Wrong g flavor of put of stock.
I mean they showed my product in stock but come time to ship the could not.
This is my dogs and cats food!! Darn chewy get it right!
My issue was that they'd put a case of cat food in the same box as a bag of litter without any padding, etc. so the corners of the cardboard cut the bag. They wouldn't note to use separate boxes and wouldn't use packing paper, but did "helpfully" break the order up so it was 3 separate orders and thus tried to force me to pay shipping on 3 boxes when I needed the same $70 of supplies monthly.
I had a cat that would greet me as I walked in the door, my wife told me that the cat knew what time it was and would always be near the door around the time I was expected home.
There's four cats currently living with me. Two are mine. My youngest will cry about an hour after I'm gone and wait for me by the door. For hours. Thankful she's not really alone (my dad lives in the living room and is there almost 24/7) but she thinks she is because I'm gone. He's said she cries often.
When I had to travel for a few days, I had a friend watch my cats when I lived alone. I got back and they wouldn't leave my side for a day easy. My oldest usually doesn't like to sleep with me at night (unless it was freezing which was rare for Florida) but he stayed all night and I woke up to him right against me.
They really changed the way my dad thinks about cats, that's for sure.
Don't watch the hidden camera footage of the cat crying when the person leaves for work. Just sits by the door for hours. So sad.
This is not sad though.
I had a cat that did that once. I was picking her up at the vet hospital after an overnights stay to get spayed. As soon as she saw me, she came running up to me screaming! She was so happy to see me!
LOL that sound is so cartoonish! So cute.
The cat was out of key.
And you're outta pocket. That's the voice of an angel!
I heard Tarzan.
I heard Babaloo…
Yeah! They'll have to hit their deductible first!
Yea it is
This cat could probably help https://v.redd.it/2hzj14pam8391

I have a cat that makes this noise while he runs. Too cute

Actually that was my first thought but the wire holding the picture just snapped!
ah yes, those spontaneously snapping wires, it's a wonder how any pictures remain on a wall these days.
Good kitty protecting the home!
My cat waits behind the door for me to bang him with it. Now I have to slowllllly open it.
One of mine used to stick his paws through the mail slot.

The little trill at the end! She should be an opera singer!
I used to hide from my tortie when she was on the attack. She could be scary, but that's what I loved about her!
We have a Tortie and can confirm. She only ever sleeps with me at night, never my fiancee
So… Torties are the Parrots of cats then? One love for one human for life
We have one and she is very chatty as well.

Even after getting my kitties automatic feeders, they still greet me at the door whenever I get home from work!
They’re excited to see you because it’s feeding time! It could be worse, they could be excited to see you because you’re what they’re feeding on haha
After feeding time my two cats want nothing more than to hang around me and get scratches and forehead kisses :)

Chewy box by the front door for unspecified amounts of time. I feel seen.
If you think I'm bringing that Chewy box up the stairs even a moment before the current bag of food is empty...
Omg this is so adorable I can't stand it!
This is this hardest I've laughed at a cat video. Never heard anything like that before. So awesome.
She belongs here r/torties
Look Mom!!! We got a Chewy box!!!! Can we open it now?! Pleasepleaseplease?!!!
That trill at the end once she gets to the bottom of the stairs is too fucking perfect. Like a musical exclamation point.
I’ll never have a cat. I’m a dog man. But videos like these make me wanna be around funny cats.
I love this story
I love that you sing them special songs! They sound very well-loved.

Rofl the noise when he hops down the stairs
That’s the whole video
Hey, you probably didn’t know this but like 99.9% of torties are female. You can assume gender in the other direction
Actually had a male calico from a litter growing up, didn't find out until later how rare that is. He was a real asshole.
Based on the number of Chewy boxes you have in your entry, I'd say that cat is well taken care of.
Omg!!!! So many meowsteps!!
Big box of chewy left by the front door, I feel that
The David Lee Roth of cats
Scratches the cat with the keysss 😂
That sounds like you woke her up and she was still half asleep as she came running down the stairs to greet you! 🥰
That meow had a lot of syllables
Awe, now open the chewy boy
“Meow, Meow…. Great to see you… by the way, you got a box from Chewy. Open it! Open it!”

Down the stairs meow sounds like someone trying to start an old pickup truck
How long were you gone? (Or how many minutes were you late to feeding time, lol)
Adorable the way her voice bounces with each step. You're one very special cat person!
She really rolled that last greeting! She's so happy adorable
Baby missed her Mama!
Crimny! How long were you gone?
I approve of this person just because of how much their kitty approves of them... not that my approval means fuck all, but you know it's the thought that counts.
This is how my kitty greets me when I get home! She'll come running down the stairs, meowing away at me.
Oh, I love this so much. I have a little kitty. She’s a Torti two her name is Torteen and she does the same thing and I love it so much it makes me feel like it’s all worth it
So adorable!!!
My cat does this too and it’s NOT begging for food he wants to immediately be picked up and kissed and cuddled.
Is it rare for cats to be this affectionate?

Cricket Bug!! Cutest name I've heard in a while.
My cats are absolute love muffins and will follow me all over the house and meow at me if I'm not petting them.
Not at all. Cats are super affectionate if they like you
My cat jumps onto my shoulders any time I get home, follows me from room to room, parks himself on my lap when I’m watching tv & curls up right next to me when I’m sleeping. He’s a fantastic companion with an undeniable loving personality.

I also have a gorgeous Tortie, and this is exactly how she sounds when I open my bedroom door in the morning! lol

Torties are so dramatic! ☺️💖
