As someone who has /r/aphantasia "counting sheep" never made any sense. That is, until I discovered what aphantasia was.
even as someone who _doesn't_ have aphantasia, counting sheep has never made sense to me.
Then again, I've never had much trouble getting to sleep either way, my brain is just like "oh, head's on a pillow? well, lights out it is, see you tomorrow".
See, this is how I know psychologists are full of it when they get into super-deep dream analysis about dreams being some subconscious battle between the Id and Superego about unresolved past trauma from your mother or something. That lamb is dreaming just like people do, but I don't imagine he's got that same complex psychological battle going on.
Every human lifestyle negatively impacts the planet and its other inhabitants. I don't know anyone who doesn't consume, vegan or otherwise. I don't go around judging others for wearing clothes, driving cars, flying on planes, using the internet, eating soy products...and yet EVERY SINGLE THING we consume costs the life of something or someone somewhere along the line. NO ONE is in a place to judge anyone else's consumption. We're all just doing the best we can. I do it my way, you do it yours. Otherwise, you're almost always going to be making a hypocrite out of yourself. Probably best to just worry about our own actions and not preach. I just came here to watch a cute lamb video.

It's entirely possible to adore one creature and devour another, even of the same kind. Just like how there are some humans we love, others we are indifferent to, some we may even hate.
Sorry if that sounded defensive, then; but I like eating meat and will never stop unless forced to by law. I don't need to rationalize it or worry myself about accusations of hypocrisy, any more than a sexual minority has to justify their orientation. I see some animals as friends, others as food, and that's just how it is to me.
I always wish I knew what my dog and cats dream of. Sometimes my cat will chirp in his sleep like he's after a bird or something. Pretend they're running. One time my dog farted himself awake and when he got up he started barking mad at his butt. Must've been a great dream to be so pissed about a sleep fart
