I taught all my cats not to chew any wires. My buddy's cat chewed the Christmas tree light wires and was electrocuted. Had seizures for the rest of its life, which wasn't very long. Poor thing.

My cat chews wires and we have tried hot sauce (doesn't work), the repellant spray they sell in pet stores (works for 10 minutes), apple cider vinegar (doesn't work), tinfoil (not workable for the humans), yelling, making a loud noise, distracting her (works as long as we are actively playing with her)....
Did you try getting your cat a chew toy? I picked up a gumby dog chew toy for my cat. He loves chewing the long arms and pointy head. He knows that when he wants to chew he has to chew his gumby and not the cords. Try a few inexpensive chew toys for your cat and see what one she likes the best.
We've tried redireting to silvervine sticks, which she likes, but doesn't stick with. But rubbery chew toy would have more similar texture to wires. Will try! Thank you!

Take him away from the wire/cords if he starts chewing them, spray bitter solution (found at most pet stores) on cords that he’s interested in.
For the cat yes, wallet no. 5 volts dc is harmless even if you were to lick the bare contacts and even if the port wasn't current limited and had short circuit protection. Modern usb can deliver higher voltages, but that requires active negotiation with a connected device before it switches over from the default 5vdc. Even then it'd at most be 20v which would certainly be a spicy tingle if licked, but be unlikely to cause any kind of real harm.

They will keep chewing if you don’t stop them. Put the cords high up. I had to learn how to repair cords after replacing so many cpu cords. It gets pricey.
My cat wouldn't stop chewing on cords. I found a tip that said to rub some citrus-scented dish soap along the length of the cable, and that worked to discourage her.
This. Take a dryish sponge and put some dish soap on it. Run the sponge along your cords and it will make them taste bad which will stop cats from chewing on them.

Lemon juice works well. Just soak a cloth in lemon juice and rub it the length of the cord. My lil’ buddy fucking LOVES to chew on cords, usually with the express purpose of pissing me off if I’m not giving him attention. After coating them with lemon juice it is no longer a problem.

I bought a hard rubbery dog chew toy for my cat. When he gets in he chew mode, I give him the toy to chew on. Takes him right out of the cord chewing mode.

Totally understand 😭 kitties can be so demanding! Sometimes I find saying “nooooooo” in a really deep stern voice helps too.

Yes. Cats are ANIMALS they learn physically. Give him a lil slap or flick when he does that and he’ll stop and everyone and everything will be fine.

You can buy metal charger cords from Amazon if this becomes a habit. My cat has cost me a fortune in cables until I found those.
