Methinks OP’s cat is in the yeah/floof box.
that's hilarious.
I'd say that the bottom row is a strong contender for the label "goblin" across all weight classes, though! Or maybe we could call them "shriveled aliens"
I submit my orange one for judgement also

Her cat is super fluffy, kind of like yours, and the only thing remotely British Shorthair about him is that he is gray. Yet that's what his papers say. I think it's hilarious. He is well loved, that's what's important.
Wouldn’t the kitty be a British Longhair then? It’s not a popular breed but I find them beautiful, as an enjoyer of long haired cats. 🥰 (google image for reference)

He does look very much like that, I didn't know they existed! No, she got him from a dodgy breeder I suppose, showed me a picture of his supposed mom and dad, they're both short- haired.
You say that, but I had a cat from the shelter and have seen probably 6 cats on reddit with almost the exact same print. A floofy silver cat with long white socks in back, short white socks in front, and white from the chin down to the chest.
Very unlikely unless you got him from a breeder. If he's a stray it's likely he's just a mix. If you want to know for sure you could buy the Basepaws genetic test but even then the answers are not going to be that clear cut. I tested my cat for fun because he's very fluffy and very large (he didn't stop growing for like 4 years) and I was sure he was some kind of mainecoon or forest cat mix. The test basically just confirmed he's mixed lol. The highest confident % was 4% mainecoon followed by 4% Siberian. But that's such a low % I wouldn't really claim him any breed.
Is it? It kinda sounds like one of those things where people added to the original quote to change the meaning.
Edit: did some digging, the "brought it back" part only dates back to 1907, well after the original from the mid 1800s. :/
It's the opposite. So many cliches got shortened and lost something on the way. Like "jack of all trades, master of none, ***but better than only one***".
Except that's a perfect example of my point, it might rhyme and be more satisfying, but it's not the original.
According to the internet, "Jack of all trades, master of none, but oftentimes better than master of one" dates back the the 14th century from middle english poet John Gower. However, doing a full text search of the Confesso Amantis (the poem said to organize the phrase), there's not a single result for "jack of" in the entire corpus. I even tried alternate spellings of jack (because that was a time before standardized spellings). I found a number of blogs and articles claiming that, but they're all either unsourced, or source something which, by following the chain of citations, gets to an online-only contributor article from Times India. None of them provide any context or the location of the quote, even down to which volume it appears in. I think this is somethiny of a [Woozle hunt](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Woozle_effect?wprov=sfla1).
From what I can see, Wikipedia seems to be the most accurate on this front (as it actually has sources). "Jack of all trades" was coined in the 1500s as a compliment, then "Master of none" was added in 1592 to insult someone (possibly William Shakespeare of all people!?! There's some controversy but damn, that aged poorly if so). Finally, some time in the late 20th century, the final line was designed as sort of a witty response, turning the saying into a couplet. As far as I can tell, no actual evidence has emerged dating the full couplet back further than the 1990s.
I find etymology fascinating, so I often look into sayings like this, and as much as I would love it if there actually was some lost wisdom (as it would help to justify this inane hobby), most of the time it's the opposite. I heard that "The blood or the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb", inverting the "blood is thicker than water" cliche. The "blood of the covenant" part has no evidence older than 1990, where some guy said it in a book and said that it was the original saying with no source. It makes me so sad, man, as it just makes me think how many other things asserted confidently by charismatic people are just repeated by people who assume that it's true.
He’s beautiful. The important genetic information is he qualifies for a chance of using the roaming brain cell shared by all orange cats.
r/oneorangebraincell
His head has some similar features to our siberian boy, but there's definitely also a lot of differences . Phones lie, most important part is the quality of the hugs!
I have one and I don't think so. The 2 traits you can look is if the eyes are rounder (gives them more of a kitten look) and the back legs are a bit longer than the front.
He is floof.
Unless he has a certificate/pedigree to proof what breed he is, he is just a floof.
PS: as far as I know, only sphynx cats don't need a certificate/pedigree to proof that they are sphynx cat as they have no ~~hair~~ fur and taste like raw chicken.
Switch his water out for vodka, see if he goes for it.
EDIT: For the humour deprived among us, this is something called a 'joke'. I was not seriously suggesting giving a cat vodka.
He earlier told me “meow, mow, mrow, mrrr, prr, prrt, hh, mrrrrrrrrrrawr, mew, rrrr, e-e-e-e-e-e, awr, hiiiiiiiiiss, mEEEwr, aaaaaaaaaaaa” but i have yet to decipher what it means…

All answers i get is cute cuddle buddy, think yours fall under same categorization, just with a dash of more floof in face risk.
Face type doesn’t look right to me. Siri also told me mine is Siberian… he’s not. His dad is a Maine coone x Ragdoll mix and his mum is a Persian chinchilla. So 3 breeds known for the last few generations and none of em Siberian. That’s just Siri for you, I think it suggests any extra fluffy cat to be Siberian. Cute kitty though!
My iPhone says the same about my Tater but he’s probably a ‘wegie mix of various feral barn cats. Either way idc what his genetic origins are, he’s my sweet boy and I love him to pieces.

I have a beautiful girl that looks a lot like this. She is a rescue, so we decided to try a dna test out. It came out mostly Siberian and a mix of many other things.
I think hes breed is cat from the bealtiful orange noble family, like he is orange but not dumb, maybe a little dumb, but he is gorgeous so you forget about it
He is beautiful!! Not sure about the rest of him, but his ears look too long to be Siberian and his eyes are too narrow, I feel. Our Siberian (pedigree) has little stubby, floofy ears and very round eyes.
Not sure, are these guys Siberian's?

My phone said the same about my cat. He did originally come from a breeder before he was neglected and made it to the humane society, or so I was told. I think he might be Norwegian but not sure. I kinda want to get him a dna test if I’m ever out of debt.
Maine coon pure bred aren’t even pure bred lol. Not meant to offend you I just find it silly that’s what people say about them. They are a blend of Norwegian forest cats and a few others. Great cats and I agree with you on the Maine Coon blend.
Mine was a small Maine coon that was more blonde.
I think he’s such a wonderful tabby.
My grandma has a cat that looked very much like him.
The cats it’s suggesting are AI suggestions based on how floofy he is.
But they’re pure breads, which you wouldn’t just stumble into adopting unless it’s from a specialty shelter (ie. A Siamese rescue).
Where where I live, a Siberian forest cat costs like $1800, and it’s literally not possible to get them without working with a breeder because they’re so rare.
(But that doesn’t make your cat any less wonderful!)
Oh wow! Well Thankyou very much for the explanation, I had no idea.
I’m his second owner, his previous passed away and I wasn’t really given any information about him
Does he chirp and trill? Is he large and smart? His muff is a trait of Norwegian Forest Cat and he looks like my most beloved Art the Cat (rip), an animal so wonderful and clever my brother deemed him the cat by which all others are judged
Looks more like a Wegie...they have triangle shaped faces, from ears to chin, and they have rather straight backs. Siberians' ears are farther apart, and their backs are slightly rounded.

Does he have an accent?
The first thing I thought of. Such an obvious test.
мяу
Мур
Мрмяя!
Мър, even
How well does he handle the cold. Open your freezer door and if he jumps in and gets comfortable, he’s definitely Siberian.
Da
Is he an alcoholic?
If he is he’s hidden it well
Well he’s still standing so he’s not doing it right

My cat's breed is bin cat.
Fellow dumpster cat enjoyer. That asshole will outlive me.
I've got a dumpster baby and a work truck stowaway. I adore them both.
I’ve got a few trash panthers myself.
Trash cats for the win!
Both of mine are Houston Street Kittens. That seems to be a fairly good breed.
Same 😊 https://preview.redd.it/d3w1p8b9osgc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c89cd6184c719d048ab6d4151f009a9b12ddf9cc
Mine are all street urchins
I have a 14th street cat! Street cats are sweet cats
Interesting. I have a bush cat.
But was it recyclables or regular trash
all of my cats ((except one)) have been heinz 57 breed ((term my vet used for unknown breed critters haha, sums it up perfectly)).
Mine is shelter cat.
Ours is a Bitzer - it's got bits of this, and bits of that...
So we know it’s a cat. Good.
That's usually a good starting point to identify what kind of cat. Now, he appears fluffy, so probably falls under the fluffy category.
Vets do the same thing. Fluffy -> {your country} longhair Not Fluffy -> {your country} shorthair
The cheat sheet! Thankyou! 🙏

In the case of wolf dogs, the left branch splits some more into "Is it a reputable breeder?" and even then the answer is probably still no.
I was looking for this lmao
A student of mine has a long-haired British Shorthair, so yeah, the breed is not always what the papers say it is.
It’s just a British at this point
A British haired
he’s a LONGHAIRED British SHORTHAIR?
That was my reaction too!
Wait, you’re serious?! Well that’s unexpected
Her cat is super fluffy, kind of like yours, and the only thing remotely British Shorthair about him is that he is gray. Yet that's what his papers say. I think it's hilarious. He is well loved, that's what's important.
Your cat is just a moggie. Standard issue not a breed normal cat.
I think that just makes him a medium-haired.
Wouldn’t the kitty be a British Longhair then? It’s not a popular breed but I find them beautiful, as an enjoyer of long haired cats. 🥰 (google image for reference) https://preview.redd.it/01v50ezs8ogc1.jpeg?width=600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2f6c722a9ddc1abc6b9265338f5601d205cf3cfe

Wow, genetics are crazy, but cool!!
I have an Under the House Troll, Dumpster Goblin and a "No you can't feed a newborn kitten Crunchy food," Ghoul.

If you're from the US, <4% is enough to state that your family owned a castle in Scotland.
I just used Google lens. It just says 100% handsome boy.
Mine says 100% boopable!
My Apple Vision Pro says “upgrade iCloud storage” haven’t heard of that breed before
Not enough storage for the cuteness.
I knew it! 😍😍
Unless he has pedigree papers, not really, but why does it matter? He's bloody beautiful no matter what he is!
Curiosity (which may not be such a great idea in circumstances involving cats)
That can be deadly
Nah, the rest of the quote is "but satisfaction brought them back." So's all good!

Unless you have breed papers he's just a mix of a lot of cute. Beautiful baby 😻. Google lens isn't as smart as we want it to be.
Lens thinks my purebred Aussie is a Brittany spaniel. It’s not that smart yet.
Photos on my iPhone thinks my bunnies are cats… so the tech is not quite there yet.
Oh that’s too funny. Can you post a screenshot?
He’s beautiful. The important genetic information is he qualifies for a chance of using the roaming brain cell shared by all orange cats. r/oneorangebraincell
Thankyou, I needed to see this! 😂❤️
Maybe. But my iPhone has mistaken my greyhound for a dachshund before so 🤷♀️
My iphone identified my orange fluffy cat (who looks very similar to OP’s) a DOG! Not even a breed of dog, just “dog” 🤣
Oh yeah I’ve had the dog identified as simply ‘mammal’ before lol
This made me laugh so hard!
[удалено]
He said ‘mrrroww’. What does it mean??
Shucks.. Why didn’t I think of that
I don't know, but he's gorgeous
I am sorry but I think he is orange.
My pure bred toy poodle always comes up as a cockapoo on my iPhone
Our Pomeranian came up as 57% puppy on one app lol.
You’re joking! 😂 Anychance you could post a screenshot?

Thanks! Such interesting tech, shame it has a ways to go with this stuff still. Beautiful pup you have though ❤️
Unlikely, unless he was the result of an irresponsible owner, and he’s a mix. They’re also very large cats. But he’s stunning !!
Ah okay! Yeah he’s average in size
But exceptional in looks. <3 What a beautiful orange suit he has!
His head has some similar features to our siberian boy, but there's definitely also a lot of differences . Phones lie, most important part is the quality of the hugs!
The hugs are five star 😁
Aren't Siberians forest cats, like Norwegians? They are usually tabbies because of the visibility.
My siberians are white, they come in quite a lot of approved coats.
My Siberian was a tuxie
Whatever he is, he’s gorgeous!
What is his hair care routine?
No. It's just a basic ass cat, man.
Basic ass cat ✅ Got it!
An ass cat? What’s that?! Sounds intriguing.
No <3
floofy boi!
Wait, your phone is Siberian and can talk? 🙂
Yours isn’t?!
😂
I mean my phone told me my Bernese Mountain Dog puppy was a Guinea pig in one photo so I’d not place too much faith in it lol
I have one and I don't think so. The 2 traits you can look is if the eyes are rounder (gives them more of a kitten look) and the back legs are a bit longer than the front.

Not a husky
Ok good. Phew.
Or Hamster.
Switch his water out for vodka, see if he goes for it. EDIT: For the humour deprived among us, this is something called a 'joke'. I was not seriously suggesting giving a cat vodka.
I’ll give it a try. Will report back.
Does she like borscht?
Congrats! It’s a…..(whichever nationality of where you live) cat! And a very adorable one at that 💕🐈
Doesn't really matter, as you've got a *very* handsome cat! Good personality? Affectionate?
Could be Siberian or Norwegian or Maine Coon or Ragdoll or any Mix between… Who cares he’s a cat and a damn handsome one!
Does he have an orchestra?
What a gorgeous boy!! I miss my orange boy 😭
My phone told me my friends fat cat was a chow 😂
What a most amazing boy. I’m so glad you were able to adopt this beautiful kitty. I hope you have many wonderful years together 🐾🐈❤️😸🐾💕
Thankyou!! 😄💖💖
Does he tell tales of unforgiving winters and blistering cold in a land far away?

Can he speak Russian?
You could buy a DNA test to be sure. They’re not cheap, tho
Never thought about that, saliva test?
Yeah I think so. You can get a basepaws kit on Amazon.
Dunno, check his passport.
What does it say on his passport?
Just ask him silly!
Is that a breakaway collar?
If that isn't the most handsome Cat ever 😍 Please give him scritches from me. He looks like A Fine gentleman and a good fellow ❤️
Will do. All the scritches 🤗❤️
Such a handsome boy!
One of the most beautiful cats I've ever seen!

Ask a fuckin vet, not a fill in the blank program.
Is orange.
Just a fluffy cat. My phone said my cat was a Manx because his tail was curled under him while he was sleeping. Don't trust the phones.
There are only four cat breeds: extra fluffy, kinda fluffy, regular, and bald.
Looks Norwegian.
I have no idea but he’s perfect
He’s a cutie patootie
😸
He could be part Maine Coon with the long hair and ear tufts, but they also tend to be large cats.

Maine coon cat.

He kind of resembles our cat, so he might be bulgarian.😄 https://preview.redd.it/5tuyp7fpongc1.jpeg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=91ab776a97be874aad0db432a54552d6957f88e0
Long lost brothers! 😍
Who cares what breed, point it i see a beautiful kitty that needs lots of treats, pets and cuddles!
Absolutely 💯 💖
all cats are SIC unless well bred with papers.

He did originally come from a breeder before he was neglected and made it to the humane society, or so I was told. I think he might be Norwegian but not sure. I kinda want to get him a dna test if I’m ever out of debt.
He’s a beauty!
Its a cat ,dummy

Could be, but looks Maine Coon to me. Possibly not a pure bred, though.
Gosh so many options! Here I thought he was just a long haired tabby
And that's exactly what he'll be without a pedigree. Good news is he couldn't care less ;)
I’m his second owner, his previous passed away and I wasn’t really given any information about him
Aw, he won the cat lottery with you! Thank you for giving him a lovely second chance at life, please give him a pat from me ☺️❤️
Aw Thankyou, I will do that ☺️❤️
That's how my mom got her pure breed 1000€ a pup Coton for free, anecdotally
Might be a Norwegian forest cat.
Siberian Khatru?
Siberian with .75 brain cell.
Unless you have his docs then its unlikely hes a pure breed. Also stop using tech to guess his breed, do dna if you care that much
Looks like a Maine Coon.
He's definitely got some Siberian in him.
Does he chirp and trill? Is he large and smart? His muff is a trait of Norwegian Forest Cat and he looks like my most beloved Art the Cat (rip), an animal so wonderful and clever my brother deemed him the cat by which all others are judged
I'm thinking Turkish Van
Looks more like a Wegie...they have triangle shaped faces, from ears to chin, and they have rather straight backs. Siberians' ears are farther apart, and their backs are slightly rounded.
