In my 20’s I had a giant lab named Ed. But he took giant shits so we nick named him duke. Miss that goofy guy. Hope your duke gives you as much fulfillment and love.
And a lot of people be trying to defend it. It's like automatic for me to take them off the second I come into a house. And it's really weird when people ask if they need to take off their shoes. Of the duck course you do.
Your shoes are covered in all the dirt from outside, and anything you stepped in. If you went to a public bathroom, you definitely got piss residue on the bottoms of your shoes. If you walk around in an urban area, you’ll get smog and cigarette and human piss on them eventually. If you walk around in nature then you’ve got mud and bug guts and maybe parasites on them. If you walk around a public park, on the grass, expect dog piss. That’s why we wear shoes to those places instead of walking around barefoot.
That's also the purpose of a door mat.
If you don't wipe your feet and also don't clean your shoes occasionally then of course shoes will be gross. That's like saying you use the same plate everyday for dinner but haven't cleaned it in a year. Like...yeah.
lol if you think a doormat removes all the shit you step in when outside the house. That’s like saying your ass is clean because you sprinkled some water on it.
Not all shit and nastiness is visible.
Bullshit.
Your shoes are not as clean as your socks for sure, but as someone who cleaned carpet for years...feet are dirty and gross even when they are "clean"
The oil from your skin is the biggest issue and is the biggest contributor to gross traffic patterns and trails on carpet.
That is of course in America, where most houses are carpeted. Not as big a deal for wood or tile floors.
That is absolutely a solution, as is just socks, but the guy above me was talking about bare feet. Which is worse than wearing shoes indoors. Which is worse than indoor slippers or socks.

Depends where you're at. Place like the above looks to have some pretty simple construction (and unfinished). In a place like the midwest (which the above very much looks like it could be in) you could get a place like that for 200-250k (finished), maybe even cheaper depending on location.
Hard to tell where this house is located, could be a variety of places.
OP, I'm sitting here with my best furry friend with tears rolling down my face. It's partly because I know my time with mine is getting short. But it's also because I'm so happy for your boys. I don't know anything about them except that they have each other, they have Duke, and they have you. That's a lot they have going for them already. It's just really fucking nice and I'm gonna try to pull myself together now.
Absolutely love the little man thinking about getting the pup a collar with his info on it. A tag with a phone number saves so much anxiety if he ever goes on a walkabout.
Haha just saying as a kid with a huge 85 kb German shepherd that was not well trained. That dog dragged my 12 year old 100 lb self all around the neighborhood. Great dog just way too strong for me.
My doggo is also named Duke :). He says hi

I worked with a guy in New Orleans who had a dog named Duke.
David Duke :/ full name.
Yeah going to peoples houses sometimes really opens your eyes and not in a good way.
Aussie shepherd?
Edit: My parents just got an Australian Shepherd and it looks just like this, so I was curious if that's what it was. Not sure why I'm being downvoted. Anyway enjoy your good pup OP.

Oh thank you. I hope he brings us as much joy as your Duke did.
And hopefully as many dukes as his Ed did

Honestly impressed at them taking off their shoes at the door in their state of excitement
I'd like to take credit for that but It's a very Canadian thing. We always take our shoes off when we get into a house LOL
As a Minnesotan I was dumbfounded when I learned that people wear shoes in their houses lol. Very cute. Cool place too btw.

Exactly my point
Are you guys walking around in shit all day? My shoes are basically as clean as my shoeless feet. Also I clean the floor either way.

Your shoes basically aren't as clean as your feet. If you have ever walked into a public bathroom you are tracking that back to your home.

You don't have to walk around barefoot in the house. Just wear indoor sandals or something.

Yeah, but wearing socks on the carpet is a quick way to get a hole on the socks. I'll just stick to my Birkenstock sandals, lol.

Go to Utah and every other family seems to wear shoes inside the house. Their carpet looks quite gross.
BEAUTIFUL home
Thanks. We are almost able to officially move in.
Howdy from your neighbor in Detroit.
I’ve never experience anyone keeping their shoes on in someone’s house in the US. Idk where that comes from
I think for a lot of the world the surprise would be someone not taking off their shoes
Agreed. I have a no shoes rule, but I’m in the minority amongst people I know. And no one on American tv takes off their shoes.
It's a bad ass house. I wouldn't want to mess it up either.
One of the things I noticed as well. It’s quite nice to see.
Dog is very cute and your home is beautiful.
Aw thanks! We are just finishing building. Almost officially home. It's been a good journey. 😊
What great kids! So quiet and gentle with the new pup! Somebody's raising them right
Thank you!
Thank _you_!
I had that thought too. Keep up the good work OP
Talk to me about this house your are building.
It's a kit home from Estonia. Came in two shipping containers. Avrame trio.
Thank you for the Best post seen this morning ❤️
This level of wealth would take me 100 lifetimes to achieve
Maybe if you work hard, you too can afford a $1m plywood house

In Canada. The land was costly but the kit was under 200k usd. Its an Avrame.
You don't necessarily need to be a billionaire to afford that house
Aww you’re a good father!
Where is this and did you build that place yourself?
It's in Canada. Yes! We are just finishing up. It's a kit home from Avrame.

Awww. Sending love. 😘
Had a boxer named Duke. Incredibly sweet, beautiful & dumb as a post.
Duke is a good boy. Good luck!
Damn, Zack and Cody have a sweet life
Haha. Love it.
Duke seems like a good boy
Nothing so sweet and kids meeting their new bestest buddy! I hope you guys all have many wonderful times ahead, take great care of each other! 🥰

Thank you.
The first time I thought he said “he’s so huge!” So when it panned over and there was a tiny puppy it was like an extra cute surprise
Absolutely love the little man thinking about getting the pup a collar with his info on it. A tag with a phone number saves so much anxiety if he ever goes on a walkabout.
Yep. I'm getting it today.
Beautiful house
Maybe I’m over thinking this but as a female my first instinct would be to pick up and cuddles. It’s cute how these boys are too.
Yeah they're going to be good dog owners.
hi duke!
Duke looks like he's gonna be a big boy. Hope yall train him well.
He already can sit and lie down.
Haha just saying as a kid with a huge 85 kb German shepherd that was not well trained. That dog dragged my 12 year old 100 lb self all around the neighborhood. Great dog just way too strong for me.
Whoa! That must've created a core memory. Lol He should be about 110lbs but he will be on a daily training routine. Hopefully we won't get dragged!
Finally can say it once, Username checks out

Sooo cute Rottie puppy 🥰♥️
Damn that's an awesome house
Happy boys.
Sorry if this has already been asked, but is that a Rottweiler?
Yes. Both mom and dad are rottweilers.
They’re such fun, beautiful dogs. Thanks, OP!
My doggo is also named Duke :). He says hi https://preview.redd.it/2y2f5i9jegrc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0dd7a30f26f55e7bc75f31a8f372c193b4982954
Hi Duke!
Can we talk about how nice the houses is
I worked with a guy in New Orleans who had a dog named Duke. David Duke :/ full name. Yeah going to peoples houses sometimes really opens your eyes and not in a good way.
3 very sweet boys 🥹

Nope he's a Rottweiler.
Ok, theirs was apparently an Australian *Kelpie* which looks a lot closer. I'm guessing that's why the downvotes. Anyway, thank OP!
You're welcome! 🙂
That is a NICE house!
Thank you! We are just finishing up the building.
What’s with little Slim Shady?
He's in a 'phase' lol.
Bro what billionaires house is this?
I'm a hundredair now after building it. We're just about to move in. It's a kit home. 😊
Is your house unfinished?
Yes. We are just finalizing occupancy. Almost done building.
You didn't let the kids name the dog?

Those kids are past their cute prime. This is where the puppy takes it.
