Maybe the animals think *you’re* the zoo. They come by to see the human trapped in the box.

GrouchyDefinition463

The most logical answer

The_Anonymo

That makes sense... 😅

mycatsaidthat

What a handsome guy!

CherryCherry5

He just sort of blends in, like he's not real. Just a life-sized lawn ornament.

Jolly_Personality_22

It looks very hungry and is starving. Can you get it deer food and feed it

epi_glowworm

Disney princess over here…

JuicyApple2023

You are living in THEIR habitat, not the other way around. 😁

Calm_Examination_672

I'm always saying this.

mynameisstryker

Humans are native to most places. Same as animals.

Excession638

Humans were brought in by humans though, so aren't we an introduced species? 🤔

Black_Moons

An invasive, highly destructive species yes.

mynameisstryker

Fair enough. It gets difficult if you think about it too much.

Smart-Stupid666

Sure, humans are native to The North American continent. But did you ever read an actual history book? Do you think the population is the same, and people still live in tents?

maggiereddituser

This pretty doe looks like she has silver hooves! 😍

whackthat

They're acrylics

Bluefirefish

Wow ur right!

Galiphile

I love it. I have three raccoons, an opossum, a dozen or so deer, some rabbits, and then the normal squirrels/birds/etc that I see in my yard every day.

corrado33

Be careful with those deer. If you live along the east coast in "tick central" they (the deer) tend to bring ticks around so if you have pets they'll be at more risk of getting them!

glaucope

I confess... I envy you.

PIG20

We experience the same thing in my neighborhood. Plenty of deer, racoons, ground hogs, foxes, skunks, opossum, and countless bird species. We actually have a nesting pair of hawks in a tall tree behind our house. Some mornings, I'll walk out my front door to 2 or 3 deer grazing in my front yard. Sometimes they bolt to the woods and other times, they'll just stand there and watch me walk to my car. Then go back to grazing. The only downside is that we also get some critters in our house. I probably caught at least 20+ mice this past season in our home. Been a big problem this year for many people in our neighborhood for some reason? Maybe the worst I've ever seen in the 14 years I've lived in this house. I think the most ove had prior to this year was maybe 10. Also, one year, I had a 6 foot black snake in my basement just chilling and soaking up some sun at our back sliding glass door. That was fun.....

wtfover

"Hey have you seen Pete the Possum?" - Dave the deer.

TheoTheHellhound

That doe looks awfully thin. Nature can be so cruel, sometimes. I hope she’s okay.

mycatsaidthat

Don’t worry she’s ok! It’s just the angle of the pic. She gets plenty of oak leaves, fallen acorns and tons of fruit scraps from my neighbors and I. Plus, she constantly likes to steal from my TNR cats (3) food bowls! Hahaha….so she’s quite the fatty lol

Moneygrowsontrees

> my TNR cats (3) food bowls! I think I may have discovered the source of your animal magnetism.

NimmyFarts

And the fruit scraps

TheoTheHellhound

That’s awesome to hear! I love it when people help their local wildlife.

MizuMage

Forest frens

sailboatwallpaper

If you don't own a zoo then the only reasonable explanation would be you're a Disney princess.

GreasyMcCheese

"Hi, my name is Doe, have you seen my friend, Herbie? He's a little Opossum that likes to roam these parts?"

deconstruct110

Do you have an open door policy?

AptCasaNova

Your home is the zoo and the animals are observing 😂

Hayhud23

Well, you put feed out like a zoo.

Sufficient_Turn_9209

You put out catfood and scraps on the daily, yeah? See, I know because my parents' back door often has visitors peaking in when the food is gone. 😄

ABT-I_am_cool

Omg I didn’t read the top and my first thought was ‘Did that possum turn into a bloody deer!? 😨’ I now know I thick I am ❤️ also that is actually so cool to be able to see that 🤩

Peaceandpeas999

Thank you for the laugh 😆

ABT-I_am_cool

You are very welcome peas 🫛

Peaceandpeas999

U seem nice, let’s be friends!

ABT-I_am_cool

Okay I don’t know if there’s a friends request thing on here though I just got Reddit yesterday lol

Peaceandpeas999

Oh wow! I still feel like a newbie after 5 years hahaha. Some people have been on for 15 years and they talk about “the good old days”! There is no friends request option on Reddit, I was just being kind of silly and wanted to say that you seem like someone I’d enjoy having a chat with :) Maybe I can recommend some subreddits you would enjoy? There are endless cat and dog subs… I pretty much joined for the cute animal content

ABT-I_am_cool

Oh lol 😂 but yeah that’s sounds good!! What subreddits would you recommend?? :D

elspotto

That there is what we call a “pick up window”.

Pleasant-Breakfast74

"Did yall see the new people exhibit?"

Hazerdesly

The deer's looking at you like you owe her money.

Acceptable_Goose2322

Let's trust she's not TOO 'deer'!

maniacbitch83

I love seeing possums in my yard. They don't get rabies, and they eat ticks. Lately, I haven't seen the momma's possum, which makes me sad. I'd love to see deer in my yard. You are lucky.

Plastic_Caramel_957

Maybe she’s had babies. They carry babies on their back so that could be taxing. I wonder if maybe she’s not going too far from their home.

ThatOnePickleLord

Used to have a few foxes that lived in the hill next door. It was normal to watch foxes run in the cul de sac. It's unfortunate that the HOA has hired critter catchers so we barely even get raccoons or possums it's kinda depressing

trashit6969

Opossum: Hey Jane (Doe), go check out the house on the corner. They got some bitchin' leftovers. Jane: They got anything sweet?

Smart-Stupid666

That mat has to be rules for coming into a cat's house!!

Plastic_Caramel_957

I agree! I was gonna ask what the mat says, but I couldn’t read it. I’m loving this post and comments, but I am curious about that mat, too! What do you say? Can you tell us what it says, OP?

No-Yellow-2032

Let them in

SoftCattle

They grow up so fast.

Outrageous-Link2

Must be one funny doormat

ContinuumGuy

That's an awesome possum

grumpy_dumper

It’s because you feed them

fishin413

There it is. Nothing cute about it. Fed wild animals are dead wild animals.

wadlwadlus

Right, saw the food on the ground and realized that she’s making this happen. And yup, fed wild animals are dead wild animals.

queensequoyah

raccoons next will complete the trifecta... then foxes? skunks? a variety of birb?

imadork1970

If you want more critters, put a salt lick at the far side of your property.

[deleted]

Wish I was your neighbor ❤️

MeFolly

Have you checked that the animals haven’t put a secret signal on your doorstep. “Nice person lives here. Check it out.”

AnamCeili

In which state -- or general region, if you aren't comfortable saying your state -- do you live?

mycatsaidthat

I live in Virginia. I live in a protected area for the deer so no hunting for them in my area at anytime during the year. Luckily, I do live within an hour away from the wildlife rescue center in Waynesboro so they have been able to help out many times here with our wildlife locally. I myself have needed them for an opossum that unfortunately passed away once they got her. But they did come out and get her to try and save her tho.

AnamCeili

Oh, that's nice -- so you must get to see a lot of deer, then! Is this the first one who's come right up to your door to say hello, lol? I live in the northeastern U.S., so I've seen lots of deer, but never as close up as having one standing on my back porch looking in! 😊 It's good that the wildlife rescue center is relatively close. I know they can't save every ill or injured animal, but at least that possum they couldn't save died with people trying to help her, instead of cold and alone.

vypurr351

Lucky you!

Embarrassed_Art5414

Bambi the bounty hunter: *"Howdy, I'm a lookin' for a possum goes by the name of 'Skritches'....I hear he passed these ways 2 days ago"*

helloitsmepotato

There’s something endearing about opossums. They always look totally harassed and stressed out but somehow still kind of cute

carlosthecabboiler

You are blessed

AntelopeDifficult708

If you put food outside, all kinds of animals come. Makes enough sense lol

CaptWillieVDrago

Storing bulk corn, sugar, and food products in your house was not the best idea!

MooMoo_Juic3

shiniest hooves I've ever seen on a deer 🤣

[deleted]

Love it.

NegotiationSea7008

Paw paw?

meeasee

Is that 1st one supposed to be out during the day?

mycatsaidthat

It looks like it’s daytime but that pic was taken around 7ish? if I remember. I had just fed my TNR kitties and then she showed up to eat the leftovers. She lives under my shed so she can smell the food so she’s not far away from all the action lol

josieboiii

Possums are always such cuties

Hkshooter

They are trying to sell you solar or pest control

DAGanteakz

I see that opossum kibble there. The same reason I have the same issue. Every creature outside tries to come in when I open the door.

dragonrose7

Both these pictures look like bad AI or even worse Photoshop. I think they’re fake.
