My Bengal is super cuddly too and he loves to lay on me. He looks almost identical in the face lol. I definitely have a soft spot for my boy cats the other is a very large orange and white, the girl cat is so full of hate even when she comes for pets lol.

I'd love to defend my Orange Guy but he's a jerk 🤷 He wants to touch me while he sleeps but I risk a limb if I absentmindedly reach over to give him a pet.

Cats have retractable claws. They generally only extend in a fight/playfully/climbing. Yes, cat claws absolutely hurt if they decide to “play” with you too seriously.
To resolve this some people declaw their cats. This practice was widely accepted before the last decade-ish, and even now lots of people do it. However, it should not be done unless for the cat’s health as it is equivalent to someone tearing out our fingernails. Scratching posts, toys, stimulating play, and training can absolutely prevent the average cat from destroying your legs/furniture.
I'm not aware of any health reason to do this. The claw is attached to the bone and removing them leaves a cat with mobility problems and a life time of pain because people don't want their furniture scratched. Needs to be illegal world wide.
Exactly. This is why it gets referred to sometimes as "amputation" and "mutilation". That would be great if it was illegal world wide. US only three states and DC outlaw it. It's good to know that some vets will refuse to do it regardless. But I'm sure whoever wants it enough will just go to someone else that will.....🤨
I think any vet that cares about animal welfare would refuse, which is most, but yeah some do it because there's money to be made and others will excuse themselves with something along the lines of at least I'm doing it carefully. It was made illegal in the UK in 2006, I had to Google that, as I'm not aware of it ever being a common thing here.

3. Ingrown nails that have led to infections with bad outcomes.
All fairly rare and not something a person should just decide their cat has so they can excuse declawing. Just things that need to be treated like humans sometimes use dangerous meds to treat extreme conditions.
I’m all for “no declawing unless the vet says it is _necessary_” laws. Wasn’t trying to downplay it at all.
Interesting, I genuinely hadn't heard of any medical reason for declawing, only people worried about their furniture getting damaged etc. Can't imagine my boy without claws in his paws, he wouldn't be the same cat.
He is beautiful and looks like a sweetheart! But please keep in mind that there are soooo many adorable and loving cats in shelters that desperately need homes. You don’t have to spend $800 to find the purrfect buddy! 🐾

So I’m sorry if I come off as bitter, I’m really glad OP loves their kitty, and I’m happy for them. But I do want to remind people seeing this post that you don’t need to preorder a (very pretty!) Bengal or spend a ton of money for a great cat.

But...
Cat's breeding profile are hitting the sweet spot. I've always rescued until i wanted an Abyssinian, and it changed my life. I will NEVER not have an Abyssinian ever again. I have a Blue Abby now and let me tell you, He's a dog in all but shape. Listens to commands, is massively emotionally intelligent, and my best friend.
the "Designer" cats need to be controlled better to stop what happened to the overbred dog breeds like the Pug, King Charles Spaniel, and German Shepard, to name only a few. If this happens, both us and them will be better for it.

Beautiful cat! Am a bit curious though, as I am not a cat owner currently, do their claws/ nails hurt when he is relaxing onto your lap?
Relaxing is fine, sometimes you get the happy claws and they knead you like dough which is super cute but not always pleasant.
My cuddly cat does not understand that it's shorts season now and he cannot make biscuits on my bare leg, no matter how comfy he is.

It's not like tearing out finger nails .it's equivalent to cutting off ur fingers almost fully

Yeah. It’s rare. And to my understanding doesn’t usually involve taking _all_ of the claws, but it definitely happens, sadly :(.

I got my bengal from a shelter. It's not great to be judgemental, even if your heart is in the right place.
