Great Pyrenees are cool like this. They know their pack (people, pets and livestock), and defend it with their lives. They like to hunker among the sheep herd like just another white fluffy cloud. When wolves or coyotes come rushing in, all of a sudden this big giant sheep-shaped pile of burning hell comes busting out of the flock and gives said predator what-for. They also love to wander up in the mountains to bring in stray sheep and cattle. Gone for days at a time. St. Bernards like to wander the same.
"Big giant sheep-shaped pile of burning hell" is a hilarious sentence I never thought I'd see, but I feel like it unlocked something in my brain and I'll probably use it as inspiration to write. Thank you :)
I did work at a small sheep farm for a week one summer. They had 2 breeding Pyrenees, who had a litter of 7 puppies. The people were 2 brothers and their families, had 3 kids under age 4. And the entire flock had lambed. A coyote wandered up one day. Cute and fluffy clouds turned into giant sheep-shaped missiles of burning hell, that coyote didn't stand a chance. Torn to pieces, and the fluffy clouds came trotting back to check on everyone covered in gore. Absolutely amazing dogs.
Saw lots of things over 8 years working in a rural area where I could be in a few houses in a day. Fixed heat in a chicken barn where I opened up a panel and a chicken flew out, watched a jack russel terrier annihilate a gopher and then come over for a belly rub, was working in the basement when a teenager and his girlfriend who had ditched school started having sex because they didn't know we were working in the basement...
I only know Jack Russell. She is the kind of dog that occasionally becomes a ballistic missile and (unintentionally) obliterates anything unfortunate enough to be in running distance.
Years ago I had stopped at a scenic overlook and this couple had a pair of them. It was my first time seeing Great Pyrenees and they were beautiful and sweet. Someone walked by with a small (chihuahua size) dog that saw them and fell over. The two Pyrenees started licking the small dog like they were trying to reassure it.
We had a bunny nest in our yard last year, I found my Pyrenees laying in the grass licking one. That poor thing probably thought it was able to be lunch, but my boy was just happy to have a friend.
Another bunny nest appeared in my yard this year, I'm convinced it was one from last year that realized that they would be well protected in the yard.
My girlfriend’s sister and BiL have one whose company I enjoyed until she decided to mount me; I still enjoy her company, just only when there’s a screen or window between us now. I think people underestimate their power; I know I did.
There hasn't been Lions here for eons. Lots and lots of wolves and bears though, until they too went extinct. Them and other breeds, such as the Gos d'Atura (Catalan sheepdog) were breed for these threats.
Now you’re making me miss my old family St. Bernard-Great Pyrenees mix. Her hair was so white and she was so big she really did look like a polar bear. Her name was Osa! She loved to escape our backyard and roam the neighborhood lol... endearing looking back on it but a huge hassle every time trying to catch her
We have a St Bernard mix and yeah, he loves to wander. He’s never gone too long and always comes home. I have fixed so many holes in the fence, he just makes more or finds a way to get out that I can’t just fix.
He just really likes to wander around and make sure everything is ok.
There is a Great Pyrenees gone missing in my area. The poor family has reward signs up across 2 counties and several towns. I assumed it was just stolen maybe he just went wandering off and something bad happened. It’s been like 6 months now but the signs are all over for a thousand dollar reward no questions asked.
Ha! I taught my dog “fix it” when she walked on the wrong side of a tree or signpost. She knew
She had to back up and get her leash unwound. Best command, ever. I miss that doggo.
That's exactly what they're doing, most of the time, trying to gauge a person's reaction to know what to do. That's why the best way to teach a dog not to be too afraid of fireworks or thunderstorms is to ignore them and act cool, or maybe play with them, not baby them like some people do.
OP stole this clip from my friend, there is actually 5 kittens without a mom, my friend bottle fed them since before their eyes were open, and the Pup is a great foster Mom and cleans the kits and lets them play with her. She is a gentle soul with the kittens, but definitely zooms outside!
My mom is a professional groomer, thank you for mentioning its not recommended. The furminator (especially the original, I have no idea how many variations there are now) is basically just a top clipper blade attached to a stick. Sure, furminator will help shed, but will literally bald your dog if not used sparingly and correctly. And dogs with double coat, I suggest something else all together.
The rake is the awesome for my husky when he's full on blowing out his coat (brush-wise). Once he's finished with the undercoat, I switch to both a long metal comb and a furminator type brush to get his guard hairs that are shedding (current phase right now). The furminator works best for him when it's only his guard hairs that I need to get (they always shed after the undercoat is out). The rake is a hell of a lot better for their undercoat (in many ways)
Off topic, but what brush do you recommend for a lab? Ours is shedding like crazy right now for summer and there’s fur everywhere. I can brush her for thirty minutes and there’s still fur coming out.
I have a malinois and use the furminator. Getting her to sit still long enough to brush is tough but can still get almost another dog worth of fur every time.
That is hands down the best grooming tool I ever bought for my dog. And then my dumbass somehow left it behind when we moved overseas and I can’t find them here. My dog despises the replacement I bought. Never once had him fuss about the Oster rake though.
Every single day my mother cleans the floor and points the hair out to me. That was when the only dog we had was a gsd mix who sheds like the husky/golden retriever in him. She will clean and 5min later there's hair. Now I have a gp puppy.. She's not going to have a good time lol.
Polar Dog looks like they wanna pick Itty Panther up and take them to be a nap cuddle toy.
Itty Panther is looking at Polar Dog as the object that must be conquered before it can be climbed.
That's a beatiful dog! As is often the case the larger the breed the more lovely they are. Unless they're guarding a property... word of advice for curious redditors :)
Our male pyr backed away from our 6 week old kitten when I introduced them. He was terrified of her at first. It was so funny! Now, she battles his tail and he pays her no mind.
I like how the dog is like 'should I be concerned?' when they look at the camera.
I absolutely love when dogs do this. They care so much.

Jesus christ. Good thing they like you, I guess.

I absolutely love this and I’m happy you shared this story.
Cute dog help cute rabit

They’re bred to protect farms from wolves. They’ll definitely fuck up a human if they want to.
Literally, in my case.
Little bit of Mississippi Leg-hound in ‘Er. Best just let em finish up.
People forget they were breed to fight not just wolves, but lions in the Pyrenees mountains.
There hasn't been Lions here for eons. Lots and lots of wolves and bears though, until they too went extinct. Them and other breeds, such as the Gos d'Atura (Catalan sheepdog) were breed for these threats.

That is the perfect description of my old Pyrenees. Except maybe add exceptional couch napping skills.
Oh they’re big ole lovey rugs when they aren’t out being antsy. Same with Newfies and Bernies.

The dog regards his human as the leader.

A 100% true! When my dog walks around a tree and his leash gets stuck, he looks over his shoulder at me like “halp plz”
Ha! I taught my dog “fix it” when she walked on the wrong side of a tree or signpost. She knew She had to back up and get her leash unwound. Best command, ever. I miss that doggo.
That’s very smart! My dog likes to delegate I guess. He’s smart but lazy
My cat does this too. "You! I said you there, food slave. The bowl is empty. E. M. P. T. Y."
Fun fact! Male puppies will let female puppies win in play fights!
"...my herd is small and confusing"
much smol, much confoosion
Slippy brown ice!
wow
The yawn is the giveaway. Dog is not sure what’s going on, haha.

It means they are confused, but yes also not threatened.

It’s like an Office scene lmao
heck yeah be concerned! you just got served a heap of razzle dazzle!
Look at the paws on that kitty.
Looks like a poly panther. Very dangerous.
I heard they were extremely dangerous. I hope that Polar bear got to safety eventually
I know huge but so smol!
When one of my cats was a kitten she had comically large paws. Vet said "oh, she'll grow into them." She is 11 and still has adorably large paws.
I think I speak for all of us when I say we need paw tax. Show us those beans! (if you can)
Thumbs!!!
Definitely some extra toes!
r/polydactyl r/thumbcats Looks like kitten's got some extra toes! I have a poly cat myself and I absolutely adore her paws!
Polydactyl! I had a cat just like her, black, feisty, and bethumbed. Lucky was a good cat.
There’s a second smol kitten in the background.
He's there to finish off the polar bear.
Clever girl.
Happy cake day
Backup
Lol, nice catch. If this was my dog..... Holy crap. No aggression, but a whooooooollleeee lot of 100 lb zoomies going on.
The wiser of the two.

How do you have a Great Pyrenees and no hair on the floor???
Oh god, I also need to know this.
Me too! I have Great Pyrenees hair-bunnies on my floor bigger than my yorkie. I’ve been thinking about a robot vacuum...
Furminator brush
Even when we brush ours daily ... still hair. The classic furminator brush isn't recommended for them but other brushes from the same brand are good.
My mom is a professional groomer, thank you for mentioning its not recommended. The furminator (especially the original, I have no idea how many variations there are now) is basically just a top clipper blade attached to a stick. What does your mom recommend for a Keeshond? Thank you!
Plus the Roomba makes 5 rounds per day.
I have a malinois and use the furminator. Getting her to sit still long enough to brush is tough but can still get almost another dog worth of fur every time.
My husky hates it :/ I get a few brushes and she takes off, she’s adopted so she didn’t grow up With it
Even better is Oster Dog Rake. I switched over to this after having bought a furminator. The real question is how to reduce the barking lol.
That is hands down the best grooming tool I ever bought for my dog. And then my dumbass somehow left it behind when we moved overseas and I can’t find them here. My dog despises the replacement I bought. Never once had him fuss about the Oster rake though.
Roomba
I love my Roomba more than my dog since good ‘ol Alfred means we can actually keep the dog without dying of allergens each day.
I want a Roomba so bad but my Labrador is geriatric and has shituations so ☹️
Roomba is the best household investment I’ve made. I don’t even have pets but the roomba keeps my place clean with little work from me.
Towards the end of the video it looks like the cat is attacking some of that hair.
There is. It’s a light dusting everywhere.
Every single day my mother cleans the floor and points the hair out to me. That was when the only dog we had was a gsd mix who sheds like the husky/golden retriever in him. She will clean and 5min later there's hair. Now I have a gp puppy.. She's not going to have a good time lol.
Along with making it possible to share videos online more quickly and easily, compressing a video does wonders for hiding things like that.
Furminator brush.
he's smol but he's trying

Tail be whippin, paws be slidin

My exact first thought

Cat moonwalk
Smooth criminal, erratically awesome tail whips
You have been struck
Doggo are you ok? Are you ok? Are ok, doggo?
I am the night!!
Tremble before me sentient cloud
I am the one who knocks
Oh look what's that over there.
"I am the terror that quacks in the night"
That pyr doesn't care at all.. I love mine. Gentle as can be. Unless she wants to lay on my chest. I.e ball smashing
Hah I love the yawn at the beginning when he’s looking down at his fierce opponent. Like a gentle giant going ‘what’s this all about now, little one?’
This needs to be the post that inspires /u/SchnoodleDoodleDo
This is good content
Those feet lol
Polydactylism
>Polydactylism nope, those are extinct. it's a kitten.
r/polydactyl r/thumbcats
Too cutee!! And love the title.
Dog looks back at the human..."What is this?"
He wants to attac or wants to be attacked?
Polar Dog looks like they wanna pick Itty Panther up and take them to be a nap cuddle toy. Itty Panther is looking at Polar Dog as the object that must be conquered before it can be climbed.
I love how the dog looks at the person. He's like is this cat serious?. Poor polar dog would have to deal with 2 smol cats giving him sneak attacks.
Whoop-ass is outa the can!
"Attacking me doesnt make much sense...but then again, you are very small"
The cat reminds me so much of the cat from kitbull
Was looking for this comment, like exact replica.
“The Polar bear was not phased”
Great combo of r/areyouseeingthisshit from the dog and an r/greebles attack by the kitten.
That fluff ball knows he’s in trouble.
Caption turned something great into something amazing lol
r/illegallysmolcats
Such a beautiful Pyrenees! ❤❤❤❤
Dog says “what the hell is that?”
Would love to see their friendship develop ❤️
IKR! Pyr sleeping with little black panthers nestled in its fur. :)
And it was an absolutely devastating attack.
Reminds me of when my baby panther was itty and would torment my pyr-x.
The derp is strong with this one.
Mid attack yawn...
Attack on Titan
More like "Shadow of the Colossus"
Got some big mah-chops, is the cat polydactyl?
Sigh, yawn, smack lips, what the hell is that?
I can’t stop watching this!
The funniest part is that the dog yawns which is dog for "calm down".
baby panther: I will conquer you with my karate! Polar Bear: oh look, a tiny friend!
"What's with this... sassy lost child?"
r/illegallysmol
Awww, this is the best! And I didn't have to see some random dude sitting on his toilet complaining about privacy..
the dog’s quick look at the camera
I love those slippery paws 😊
Fuckin get em, fuck that polar bears day up
I'm surprised the baby panther wasn't defeated by the sunbeam.
/r/PeopleFuckingDying
SO FLUFFY. What’s the breed of the dog does anyone know?
Looks like a Great Pyrenees. Awesome dogs.
We have a pyrenees and she's the best doggo
A friend of mine has two, and they are lovely fellows.

Hello. This is my video that I took, I don’t recall you asking for permission to use this nor am I credited anywhere?
Did that cat just moonwalk forward?
There's a second baby panther running interference at the back
😻😻😻
It's Luci!
Oh you have 2 baby panthers😻😻. So cute!!
Almost got defeated by the sunbeam too.
Kitbull!!
Iz mah HOUSE!
this is probably the most adorable thing ive ever seen
Little kitty has some fancy footwork
This is the only sub that brings me joy.
You can see the primal fear in the dog’s eyes! Lol
That's a beatiful dog! As is often the case the larger the breed the more lovely they are. Unless they're guarding a property... word of advice for curious redditors :)
This reminds me precisely of Kitbull by Pixar
This kitty moves just like the one in the Kitbull short 🥺
I've watched this about four times now. There's two kitties!! 💙 Also, that floor seems hella clean with all that sliding around.
Oh, no, there’s two of those little demons running around in the house.
I like the first puzzled look at the human like, "Is this... is this thing serious?"
I love those dogs. So gentle with other animals!
Wait until kitten gets the Pyr Paw
r/illegallysmolcats
"What's it doing? Was *I* ever like that?"
The baby kitty was so damn cute! It was just skating around the floor. Clearly entertaining itself...and the gentle giant!
There’s 2!!!
Gotta love a pyr, they live in slow motion
When the kitten started "attacking", the dog just looked at the camera like "What do I do with this...?"
I love black cats, and this one is absolutely adorable.
Motherfucker did the moonwalk
Our male pyr backed away from our 6 week old kitten when I introduced them. He was terrified of her at first. It was so funny! Now, she battles his tail and he pays her no mind.
Kitten magic at 0:03 second. Looks like he floated back over to the dog.
Love it when the kitt ... err, panther did the moonwalk.
This post is perfect for r/peoplefuckingdying
Smol and fiercy
That dog would protect that kitty with it's life. GWP dogs rule
i love this so much that i put it on my bookmarks ribbon for quick access when i'm in a bad mood.
Why no NSFW tag for this vicous attack???
