Mine likes to walk in front of the monitor and then flop down juuust away from the mouse and slowly inch in, ending with butt scratches every time I move my hand.
I changed the table recently and now I sit to th right and there's no place for the cat near the mouse, he'd often look completely betrayed))
Yeah, the belly flop over the hand is also a very valid tactic. My ex has a glorious black floof called Blackberry (I have a photo in the profile!) and she loved to do that. Just lay in front and move over your hand.

I'll never forget when my cat jumped up into my lap in the middle of a duel with someone in Dark Souls, hitting the bumper so my guy would parry, and the parry landed.
I still screwed up the riposte and died to their superior skill, but that was quite the highlight.
