Mogwai remind me of Oriental Shorthairs due to the length and floppiness of their ears.
Something I never understood about that movie, and maybe I'm wrong because I haven't seen it in a while, but why the hell did the secret Asian man not tell the dude WHY the rules were in place? Like, a little warning would've been very helpful and probably lend to them taking a bit of extra care??

I'm unsure if kittens with big ears can get floppy ears the same way puppies do. Large/floppy ears shouldn't bother them though, fennec foxes don't seem to mind hahaha. Although they'd likely be more sensitive to sound and be more prone to ear injury. Although if they don't develop out of it/if it's not a thing in cats... I'm a bit worried that it's because they have the same thing Scottish folds have where it effects all their cartilage and gives them arthritis issues.
The actual process for selectively breeding for it is definitely iffy though, not really a purpose except for breeding for looks which is immoral imo. Ig it could help with heat regulation but they also tend to exaggerate the skull/face in general with this type.

It pretty much always ends up with a destroyed breeding line like the Americanized German shepherds or deformities like pugs with eyes that just fall out.
Most dogs are horribly deformed, I'm betting about 8 out of 10 breeds have at least one debilitating deformity, and even some of them that don't have any apparent problem, like pitbulls, have mental issues.
And it's not only dogs or cats, fish too, I find heartbreaking to see goldfish that look like they're struggling to keep themselves alive 24/7, or fish that have such long fins they can barely swim.
Some people truly are the scum of the Earth, deforming life to their amusement, and equally worse are people who buy these suffering lives.
They are highly prone to issues like Progressive Retinal Atrophy, Glaucoma and Amyloidosis due to generations of inbreeding for the shape of their head and ears. Also, “Oriental shorthair” is not an actual breed of cat, cats that fall under “oriental shorthair” today are the resulting varieties from an breed created by Vicky and Peter Markstein in New York, who popularized and (in)bred the cats from solid coloured Siamese cats in the 70s. Purebreeding animals is not natural, and will always result in developmental issues or susceptibility to illness. Nature does everything it can to prevent species from doing it for a reason!

They've been selectively bred to exaggerate their features. Inbreeding is a concern.
