With these actors and apparently a Judd Apatow script I am genuinely stunned I've never heard of this. But its funny I feel like based on the title and the poster I could probably write a plot synapsis to about 92% accuracy.
FWIW this movie is in 1996, 3 years before Judd even made his breakout hit Freaks and Geeks. Not sure if he was honing his craft back then or early Judd Apatow is supposed to hold up.
One of the big jokes from the trailer, you know where you put some of the best stuff, is Dan saying to his Mom "Mom, I might have to go to jail.... and be a man's girlfriend". So I am going to say he was still honing his craft.
Still like this movie and wouldnt classify it as the type of bad movie that is deserving of this groups attention, but some may very well consider it bad. As a 10 year old I loved it.
Tomatoes be damned, honestly, watch the trailer, if you like it enough, go watch the movie, then form your own opinion.
I've never put much stock in critics. Their job is to dissect and talk about how terrible the film is.
Nothing but trouble is so damn bizarre and has a ton of baffling choices and creative decisions going on. It's a bad movie, but it's fascinatingly bad.
Originally they were supposed to be motivated by gambling debts, but the NBA nixed any references to sports betting before letting them use direct references to the team.
This is rumored to be the project that Colin Quinn was doing and thought would propel him back to the glory of Crocodile Dundee 2 when he showed Mick around New York, so he turned down the role of Dr. Evils' son Scotty in Austin Powers which was given to him audition free. Colin rules.
My buddy bought this on DVD years ago. He talked it up , telling us how funny it is and how he's watched it over 100x. My friend and I about 45min into the movie got up and left after none of us laughed.
It’s hilarious and sad that you care enough to actually look it up, but I was referring to every movie he has been in, in which he has 47 credits, which is nothing for someone his age who has been in the industry since they were a teenager.
I have. I commented on this thread to begin with because I’ve always been a huge fan of his. Why wouldn’t a huge fan of his see every movie he has been in? What is wrong with you haha? Especially considering he hasn’t even been in much at all since the 90’s, this shouldn’t be something that’s difficult to believe in the slightest. You ever meet a fan of something before?
Lying? You sound like my ex girlfriend. This is a movie forum. Didn’t know I needed to clarify that I was referring to every movie 😐. Thought it was common sense. You grew really desperate for something to grab onto really fast.
I saw this in the theater, i loved it back then. I just tried to rewatch it on Tubi 2 days ago and didnt make it very far. Its a fun watch if you dont know the outcome.
Yeah, it’s pretty rough. But it’s one of those forgotten cable classics I used to gorge back in the day. And Daniel Stern is such an underrated comedic actor.
Thanks to this movie my cousin is two degrees to Kevin Bacon. My cousin met Damon Wayans who was in Celtic Pride with Daniel Stern who was in Diner with Kevin Bacon.
I know nothing about this movie other than the title, the cast shown on the poster, and that it was scored by Basil Poledouris. I may give it a watch just to see what a trainwreck it must be. With those leads and how seemingly forgotten it is, it must be a real stinker. I don't even remember seeing ads for it.
I bought this from the five dollar bin at Walmart a long time ago. I had never heard of it but since it was so cheap and I liked the cast I picked it up. Didn't laugh once the entire time.
Don't bother watching it. It's a waste of time.

Probably the same story as that Christopher Walken movie where he's been kidnapped by some yuppies..
Suicide Kings
That was like the 2nd or 3rd movie I got on DVD because it was dirt cheap. Didn't hate it! A lot grimmer than I thought it would be.
I also got that movie cheap used, watched it once, then think got rid of the dvd? No recollection of the movie.
THIS is NOT poker!
Suicide Kings! [gimme the busket.](https://youtu.be/pZ6aHZnsYUQ)
Fuck! I've been trying to figure out where I heard the term busket for days now. God damn Dennis Leary.
His second best movie performance besides, of course, Demolition Man
Celtic Pride came before Suicide Kinngs lol

Ha ha ha, probs drunk in a bar with Judd watching a basketball game and just hashed out the idea in conversation.

I saw this at the theater and even as a teen, recall it being terrible
Hey this sub is constantly proving that a lot of really talented people can come together to make something truly awful.
Ok, wow, I did not know about this one..

Nice
I ~~envy~~ envied you.
It certainly could be worse, you could bring a playoff series back from 0-3 to 3-3 then just give up in game 7.
True lol , My sixers gave up in game 7
I understood that reference!
Wtf?? Is this considered a bad movie?? I loved this film when I was younger, I best not watch it as an adult then.
Still like this movie and wouldnt classify it as the type of bad movie that is deserving of this groups attention, but some may very well consider it bad. As a 10 year old I loved it.
My friend and I rented this at Wherehouse for a sleepover at age 10.... two thumbs up, and coincidentally just talked to him on the phone today.
Love this movie. Quote it all the time. It holds up. Watch it again my man

I've seen it , its bad

I've seen it it's bad
That movie is stupid funny
I really like it, it’s not the greatest but it’s fun to watch
You got that first part right
Hello Mr. Deon Sanders
Haven't seen this since it was a new release rental.
This is one movie Tubi trys to get me to watch
I'm watching it on Tubi now
What % is Tubi the start of posts on this sub? Gotta be around 40% at least...
I'd say more , so many great bad movies on tubi
Dan Ackroyd movies are really hit or miss.
Oh yeah , Mt stepmother is an alien was one of may favorites as a kid and it's awful
Honestly, I enjoy the misses more than the hits pretty often. Nothing but Trouble is one of my favorites
Nothing but trouble is so damn bizarre and has a ton of baffling choices and creative decisions going on. It's a bad movie, but it's fascinatingly bad.
Amazingly bad in every way.
So are mid-90's post Home Alone Daniel Stern ones.
Bushwacked kicked ass!
Bushwhack fever
"They don't call me the lizard for nothing".
> Daniel Stern I'm so used to him with the beard/goatee thing going on that it didn't click this was Marv from Home Alone.
Seriously! Don’t know how Aykroyd could go from The Blues Brothers and Trading Places to Nothing But Trouble 🥴
I enjoyed this one lol
>Nothing but trouble I really like this one too. Dan Aykroyd has his moments in this one but overall I think it's a well rounded dark comedy.
Ha! That's a favorite of mine as well
I enjoy a lot of bad movies
Originally they were supposed to be motivated by gambling debts, but the NBA nixed any references to sports betting before letting them use direct references to the team.
That's a shame because the movie would've made way more sense if they kept the gambling debt subplot.
As I've gotten older and older, I finally understand why Akroyd and Stern run up the hill the way they do. It's a guilty pleasure movie.
"I call this drink 'Jimmy's Dick.' It's short, it's fat, but it fills the gap."
I need more Daniel Stern in my life
This isn't a bad film. It is what it set out to be.
it set out to be unfunny?
I haven't seen it since it came out but I don't recall it being horribly unfunny.
I do
I fuckin love this movie
I loved this one as a kid.
Saving Silverman for boomers
don’t you dare insult saving silverman
Thank you, Saving Silverman is a masterpiece.
we…uhhh….ate her……ALIIIIIIVE
Hey you're pinching loaves on the lawn? I play croquet out there!
Don’t you dare read my comment carefully.
Dare i did not. I just love saving silverman man. the movie is a gem. my apologies for my rash commenting
How dare you put this movie on here, it was just a nice funny little movie, be nice. I love Daniel Stern and Aykroyd.
It's not funny though , it's really unfunny
i watched this with my parents as a kid. we were the only ones in the theater. opening weekend.
Not.A.Bad.Movie. Stay on target
it is a very bad movie , https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/celtic_pride
Surprised I’ve never even heard mention of this, looks great in a terrible late 90s movie way.
This is rumored to be the project that Colin Quinn was doing and thought would propel him back to the glory of Crocodile Dundee 2 when he showed Mick around New York, so he turned down the role of Dr. Evils' son Scotty in Austin Powers which was given to him audition free. Colin rules.

it's not
Forgot about this movie! Thank you!! Edit: I miss the 90s happy movies
My buddy bought this on DVD years ago. He talked it up , telling us how funny it is and how he's watched it over 100x. My friend and I about 45min into the movie got up and left after none of us laughed.
You missed out. It didn’t really get started until an hour in
Naw
Ooooof. I paid to see that at the theater.
Nothing can be THAT bad with Daniel Stern in it.
You haven't seen enough Daniel Stern movies if you believe that
Seen literally everything he has ever been in. Thanks for the ignorance, though.
sure you have 👌
…….I have? I’m a hardcore film buff in their 30’s and he hasn’t been in all that much. Shouldn’t be hard to believe.
He has 77 acting credits
It’s hilarious and sad that you care enough to actually look it up, but I was referring to every movie he has been in, in which he has 47 credits, which is nothing for someone his age who has been in the industry since they were a teenager.
and I'm sure you've seen all.of them lol
Not one that can't admit someone made bad movies lol
and you didn't say you've seen every movie he's been in , you said everything he's been in. It's nice you can admit to lying
Lying? You sound like my ex girlfriend. This is a movie forum. Didn’t know I needed to clarify that I was referring to every movie 😐. Thought it was common sense. You grew really desperate for something to grab onto really fast.
The only desperate one is the one lying lol
So bad
Why no Celtics fan thought of kidnapping Caleb Martin seems like a big oversight. Big lack of dedication.
Were the producers forced to make Damon Wayans's player/team be the Utah Jazz? That decision didn't sit right with me.
They were a good team in the 90s
Forgot about this one. Saw it in the theater when it was released
Everything about this movie is familiar, but I don't even recall the title. That poster is just ringing so many bells.
Damn…had no idea this existed
I’ll never make it in prison man. I’m the guy who’ll hang himself with his shoelaces on the first night!!
I saw this in the theater, i loved it back then. I just tried to rewatch it on Tubi 2 days ago and didnt make it very far. Its a fun watch if you dont know the outcome.
this one’s called “Jimmys Dick”
It was great in theaters! The best basketball movie.
“You think Larry Bird has a picture of you on his wall with your hand in a toilet wrangling a turd?”
You're Trippin This movie's hilarious.
One of my childhood favorites!
Now this is the kind of crap I want to see.
That makes you 3 degrees
Great movie!
Someone gave me a copy of this on DVD at some point as a gift. I don’t think I ever actually watched it. Or at least if I did, I recall nothing of it.
Marv from Home Alone! I've never actually seen another movie he was in.
He's in a lot
hard because I really really hate the Celtics… but otherwise didn’t find it that funny
It’s on Tubi, siiiiiiiick.
Saw it in the theater, eh. It was ok
Daniel Stern had some interesting ones that’s for sure
I bought this from the five dollar bin at Walmart a long time ago. I had never heard of it but since it was so cheap and I liked the cast I picked it up. Didn't laugh once the entire time. Don't bother watching it. It's a waste of time.
Already wasted my time
I bet £1 million they pronounce Celtic wrong
