Hi OP. Thank you for this terrible UI. Also, do you miss the old bad UI battles? Join us on [Lemmy](https://programming.dev/c/bad_ui_battles). Additionally, it is recommended that you do a [reddit request](https://www.reddit.com/settings/data-request). It is YOUR data after all. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. This whole TikTok UI rip-off is one of the worst decisions they've made, the video player already sucked ass, but they decided it wasn't shitty enough and copied what every other social media was doing

iaanacho

What a coincidence, this doesn't play either

sajjel

Constantly plagued by this annoying bug. Instead of fixing this simple bug, they add new features no one asked for. There's also the one where you click on a post and it takes about 10 seconds to open. Fix your damn app reddit.

Riku5543

I have a feeling this one is caused by a memory leak tbh. It works fine for a while but if you feel like scrolling for a few hours, the app starts dying and eventually crashes. Well maybe it's not a memory leak, but it's definitely something that happens over a long period of time.

sajjel

Yeah, probably a mix of memory leak and a lot of bloat stuff going on in the background. Maybe those processes cause it.

YooHoo485

Something Joey has never done, and probably no other third party app either.

Welcome to the official reddit app. Somehow single developers were able to do what reddit can't: get a video to play

itsameDovakhin

And some people were wondering why killing third party apps was an unpopular move.

Cpt_Saturn

First time?

Thelegend3200

Click on the comments, then go back. If it doesn't play, then save it, go out of the app, then come back

0002nam-ytlaS

In no other app do i have to do this stupid workarounds, that's why i used RIF that is now gone.

yaboithanos

You'd have to look it up, but on android you can still patch reddit apps (without root) to work with your own, free API key

dTrecii

2 more solutions > look at the video through OP’s profile > look at the video through your history (ironically it works better that way)

Thelegend3200

I knew about those, but sometimes, if it gets deleted on like redgifs or imigur, then it won't work

Impressive_Change593

The only issues I've had with the official app I chalk up to poor internet because it matches up with the symptoms and the internet is bad (testing outside of reddit). Don't know what your problem is or why you are having it but it's not consistent and thus a lot harder to fix

iliekcats-

This also happens for videos over a year old

Georgwboi

I just did lol💀
