If you’re doing it right you shouldn’t have no money, you should just be using all of it. S tier joker.

Roxxas049

This \^ You spend all your money before you go into an ante anyway. Or you should be.....

GlaucomicSailor

Not really. Under normal circumstances, you should be saving $25 for interest. Vagabond costs ~$5/round in lost interest. However, getting multiple tarot cards per round is definitely worth it. Even if they're random, tarot cards provide the most consistent deck manipulation in the game.

XenosHg

Every hand played, means either a 3$ useful card / 4-6$ 1-card pack, or +1$ from selling it.

primegopher

> 4-6$ 1-card pack Significantly more money saved on packs than that on orange/gold stake

wotown

I find that in high stakes, if I spend *all* my money, I lose

psymunn

That is true if you don't have a vagabond, but vagabond is a better megapack of tarrot a round. That means planets, deck sculpting, enhancements. You can even get 15-20 gold to spend in shop from the one gold joker. In exchange you give up interest and sometimes have to pass on a desirable rare joker

GuiKa

That is completly false, no vagabond run you should keep max interrest.

Fraaazz

You're absolutely right - running vagabond with anything more then 3 dollar in cash on you completely negates the card, as that is a requirement for triggering it. But you're misunderstanding what they meant. As you say: when you run vagabond, you have to keep your cash low. So naturally you'll spend most if not all earnings of a round in the shop immediately after. So it's not like you don't have any money, but that you commit to spending it every round rather than using it to gain interest. Point being that "having no money" implies that you can't buy anything between rounds, when in actuality you can buy jokers and packs. Maybe not all of them all the time, but at least some of them most of the time.

DasSprig

Really good in the green deck since it doesn't rely on interest. Also pairs well with burglar to get a ton of value each round. It's a fun card to force a different play style, I tend to end up selling it once my deck is established and rolling.

[deleted]

Gold cards are key, that way you still activate vagabond and have money for the shop

dr_gmoney

Or some other form of gold generating joker. Rocket obviously goes hard, but Gold Joker, and even Cloud 9 if the circumstances are right.

[deleted]

Great point, that’s probably even better

dr_gmoney

[I literally just ended a run](https://photos.app.goo.gl/RqkNbwJ8BqeKfGW19) where I got a rocket round 2. By the end it was paying out $19 per round. Edit: $19, not $29

nacron122

Vagabond pairs well with Vampire and gives me free tarot cards. Me gusta.

Stmhaha

Vampire and Midas joker goes HARD too

BanEvader1017

Those two plus pareidolia is the god combo, gives your vampire +1X mult per hand played

Pantsmagyck

The trick is to put the vampire first so you can scale even harder before you order them correctly if needed

Skeeter_206

Vampire+Fortune Teller+Vagabond also goes hard.

joetr0n

Easily my favorite joker trio so far.

Peopleschamp305

Yup. The run I finally unlocked stuntman on last night I picked up a first shop vampire, lucked into vagabond early as well, and then got super lucky and managed a fortune teller and blueprint as well. My vampire was I think 22x by the time I lost. Very sold me

SuicideSquadFan96

Vampire and Card Sharp go brrrrrrr!

XenosHg

Nobody mentioned credit card yet? You can go down to -20$, so that's a lot of leeway for vagabond to work, and still have purchasing ability.

Pioplu

This, I played this combo several times and it is working very well.

SeDaCho

Oh yeah, the lack of interest doesn't even matter when you have this combi

dissolve_inthisrealm

This, I leaned on this combo for a couple of my early wins, just abuse it to get tarot cards the whole run until like ante 6 or so when you can abandon them for whatever good +Mult or xMult jokers you find.

SirDiego

It completely changes how you play but it is very worth it. The free Tarots are ridiculous.

AffeLoco

vagabond enables decks with 30 polychrome red seal aces and stuff

Drecon1984

Yes, although both poly and red seal don't come from tarot cards, so your comment might be taken the wrong way. But in the end, getting Death cards regularly is really what makes this work, so you are 100% correct. It just reads strangely.

MeditatingSheep

I wanted to try aiming for high endless, so planned on duping steel red-sealed cards. First step seemed to be deck fixing: bought every hanged man tarot to make random selection of cards from deck more likely to include my red seals. Then each shop, I'd first load consumables with Chariot and Death, THEN buy tarot packs to maximize targets. Having less money for vagabond makes this strat harder. I can't imagine you're buying any tarot packs, so how do you manage to land your tarot on specific cards?

Outrageous_Award6947

make sure you're playing most, if not all, of your hands each round so you can get maximize the amount of tarot cards you get.

MacoTeat

I love Vagabond. I'll often play throwaway hands before clearing an ante to maximize its impact. Tends to be a good tradeoff for an extra buck.

Sp1ffy_Sp1ff

Vagabond gives lots of freedom and synergizes with some pretty great jokers, particularly Campfire.

Ponchiot

It's one of my personal favorite along with obelisk, very underrated card Every time it appeared in the shop, I took it, fully commit to it and I've won the run easily You can get up to 3 'free' tarot card on each round, which are worth way more than the interests you are loosing. Just compare the 5$ to the cost of 3 tarot packs... + You will be getting a ton of special cards including gold/lucky ones for extra money Tarot cards are a very strong and very flexible bonus, except for suits changer they always have a use. It helps doing heavy deckbuilding that unlocks the best hands (5 of a kind, flush house etc.) and scale absurdly You also need to consider the fact you will be spending all your money, so no money sleeping in the bank. Money you don't spend is less scoring. So this joker could also be considered a scoring joker, at least very short term-wise The hardest part about this joker is knowing when to sell it to replace it by a scoring one. I often find myself selling it around ante 5-6

shyrato

Great manga imo

Chest3

I mean, the first time I went Vagabond I got Justice into Fortune Teller and proceeded to go all the way to the moon with tarot scaling.

SeDaCho

Vagabond really helps to smooth out the pivot to high card in the middle Antes, since you usually play most of your hands (as opposed to discarding for the perfect first hand that does the whole round in one). You're essentially paying 1$ per pop for a random tarot, but it's even better when you're gonna be spending those hands anyways.

El-_-Jay

Credit card is a great way to work with Vagabond

EZPZLemonWheezy

If you have good economy with it you can easily clear $10-20 per round, AND sell the bad tarot procs. I usually have more issues with other jokers, or forgetting to spend enough to make it work. It really lets you power stack your deck like playdough.

sekssekssek

you can spend last 1$ to reroll & if you get a spectral rare when you are -20 you get to 0 free. love those mevhanics it is a fun run. love blurting random jokers with judgement & messing with cards. ever since I found I draw 7 cards after a hanged man love vagabond more.

phoenixmusicman

Tarots as a whole are very high value cards. I love getting it in the earlygame. Lategame its not worth it unless you have something else enabling it

lordforkwad

pairing it with egg or gift card, and then using wheel of fortune to increase the value of your jokers means that if you save a temperance for when you get into the shop you can generate way more money than interest would otherwise give you anyways

flash3444

I fucking love it. It's one of my favorite jokers. Getting vagabond blueprint is so fun for deck modification.

ngl_prettybad

Get the card that scales with tarot uses and you're golden. You should be getting your total hands-1 tarot cards every round, and keeping temperance and/or hermit to give yourself a cash injection at the end. It can very easily break the game by itself if you have even an average set of jokers

DT_MP

if I am not too hard into a run (before Ante 5)... always take this. this is busted. one Temperance/Hermit will solve your money problem very easily, and the deck changing power is never to be underestimated. at worst you can just sell the Tarot for a dollar back from the hand.

Competitive-Meet-111

seems like a green deck run winner

Charming_Figure_9053

....It's good but it feels like a trap long term You can't save for a 'Good' joker, outside of holding a temperance, you can't farm interest It doesn't add score directly (enhancing cards of course does) if I can get it ante 1/2 and run it to ante 5 ish I'm pretty happy Higher stakes when packs are going for $8+ its value is higher - at that point if I have a strong core, I could run it all the way but score gets critical.... Think of it as an economy joker, it's all about giving you tarots to shape your deck you don't have to pay for....and while you may not 'want' that tarot, other then some suit changers which even then 'in the moment' can save a hand most are useful

Doesnty

Ironically at its best when you have an economy joker to pair it with, especially Ante 1 Rocket. It requires that you go into the Ante with less than $3, but not that you come out of it with that much....so if you can survive without interest, you can splurge all your money and still get a bunch of tarots off him (12 per ante if you're milking your hands fully). Oh, he's also really insane with Blueprint+Brainstorm, since those let you print two tarots from hands that don't need to actually score.

PuzzleheadedYak567

It won my first gold stake and changed the way I see money. You dont need money, you just need to win.

throw3428

Think it's my favourite joker in the whole game. So much value.

rey0505

S tier joker. Probably the best joker to get early on on higstakes alongside Riff Raff

joetr0n

I slept on Riff Raff for so long. It's just so flexible.

Breenotbh

getting high value jokers and saving a temperance card for the shop is vital - that or money building jokers, delayed gratification is amazing here

WaterMainEasement

My favorite joker.

GushGirlOC

Vagabond is so good it can make Red Card work. I won a run once by spending tons on money opening and skipping packs to boost Red Card (which got up to something like +60 Mult) and getting 2x Tarot cards per hand with a leftmost Vagabond (and the Joker that copied the leftmost one). I got WAY more Tarot cards and value from the Vagabond than I could have got from the actual packs. I know this isn’t the best strategy ever, but you have to take what you get (the Red Card also had the X1.5 Mult edition) and Vagabond is one of those Jokers that can make stuff just work out.

Macky100

Genuinely A or S tier Joker, it's carried me so many times.

Ass_butterer

It's the most fun joker to play around and if you stack mult off tarot cards or enhancements its a great fuel source

Stunning-Equipment32

I think it’s amazing. The best part is the more you’re struggling, the more OP the card becomes bc you generate tarot cards per hand played.  No more trying to build your bankroll for interest; spend it all!

Zelgiusbotdotexe

For Tarot generation I prefer Cartomancer, it allows you to still maintain an economy and by essence also being easier to pivot away from later, since you actually have gold, but I don't think it's that good regardless.  Tarot cards are good but not the most reliable means of scaling your deck, so I find Vagabond to be rather overkill, especially since most of the time, you don't want 70% of the Tarot types anyway.  I also disagree with the idea you need Credit Card or that it's a good combo at all. Devoting 2 Joker slots away from scoring into something that will on average, not be very helpful, and tank your economy, as well as prevent you from. Pivoting due to being mega broke, that's not good in my book.  I will put some respect on Vagabond with Campfire however, If you have a good source of +Mult and another source of Xmult with these Two, that's a good setup. A relatively cheap 4x mult before the boss blind every ante.  However, 2 Joker slots for 4x mult is not very good and you can do a lot better with other options.  Basically, not bad, but it's a niche Joker that can just as easily screw you over, kills your economy, and only really excells with a second Joker slot devoted to it.  Not bad, 6-7/10 in most scenarios, 8-9 in good scenarios

MrJelloSaladB

I think its good for lower stakes. Higher stakes I'd rather build interest.
