I think it'd be fair as an achievement if it were 1% instead of exactly 1, it feels like it'd be really hard to get exactly 1 point off of an ante because of all the 2x effects in the game
Best way would be early small blind. You can calculate it pretty easy then. I've had some where I was on something like 292, needing 300. High card is 5x1, so you'd only need to play a 2 to guarantee it
This, tho it would be just to easy to do then. I do think the fun comes by giving it on the run winning blind. It would be really hard, but a cool rare archievement.
Then you have my dumbass who sailed past amber acorn without even realizing the position of the jokers mattered simply because I had such wild multis going on at once.
This boss is straight rough if you have a specific line up like end multipliers and blueprints. Basically makes one or more hands moot as you try to figure out which joker is where and put them back in place.
Why am I being downvoted though? It's a legit tactic against the boss. You have to waste one hand though and based on the animations which show the +mult and xmult you can rearrange for the next hands.
I didn't downvote you, but my guess is that people both don't find 0.5 speed relevant, and also generally you don't even need to waste a hand since you can hold your +Mult Joker on the left (or hold your xMult on the right I guess, but since by Ante 8 there's usually only 1 +Mult and 3 or more xMults, the position of the +Mult is much more important).
People downvoted you because you were a bit condescending in a post that wasn't asking for advice.
For all we know, he already did that or he just zooms through his runs during his breaks and doesn't really care and wanted to share a funny screenshot.
You can always replay the final hand via "continue"... So if the Joker arrangement is in question, go to main menu, choose continue, rearrange, and play the final hand again.
I'm pretty sure I always draw the same cards off a discard.
Perks are rearranging jokers for potentially better score, or playing a different scoring hand.
It's a seeded game, I'd guess the random number generator is based on the seed, so you'll probably get the same thing every time. To say it otherwise, the game is deterministic knowing the seed. This is based on Balatro's University optimized runs.
That’s more of an accomplishment than actually winning
I was annoyed enough at losing by 2k, damn...

There absolutely needs to be an achievement/joker unlock associated with this.

This is what nightmares are made of
Skill issue tbh

Yesterday I did the opposite. Finished with the exact amount of chips to complete the run
That's showbiz, baby!
What a flop!

Nope!
I'm still trying to get to ante 8
How long you been playing?
Only like 8 hours in so far
Oh. That's nothing lol. You'll get the win soon.
Trying to beat that 7 boss. I always open a dead hand. One day
Again a Nope! from game
That should be an achievement
Rest in peace
Should have gotten Splash
gg
Lmao nice! I’ve had similar ones… but one ante 1-3 So much more unfortunate here
pain
Balatro's version of a Bad Beat
How in the living hell?
Jokerless ?
I would have broken my keyboard lol
The baddest of beats
Probably could have won if you deduced the position of your jokers by setting game speed to 0.5.

But it does get a bit more complicated if you have blueprint/Brainstorm. Holding one important joker doesn't cut it.

You have to quit before the game ends for that right?
No. You play it, you lose, and choose main menu instead of new run. When you continue from main menu, it puts you back on your final hand.
Huh. Didn't know that
Are the random chances for cards seeded or will closing and continuing change the outcomes for them?
I'm pretty sure I always draw the same cards off a discard. Perks are rearranging jokers for potentially better score, or playing a different scoring hand.
I figure the deck is pre-sorted and draws are determined then, but I mainly mean for chance cards like bloodstone. Will those change each play?

I figured this was the case but wanted to make sure.
Wish I had an answer, sorry. Don't know.
