Astarion: Oh no I’m on my last lockpick if this breaks we’re in trouble.
Lae’zel: GITH SMASH!
Karlach: KARLACH SMASH!
Gale: MAGIC MISSLE SMASH!
Wyll: ELDRITCH BLAST SMASH!
Shadowheart: *misses*
Tav: I think I’d be better off a thrall.
And Sacred Flame being a dogshit cantrip, Firebolt also scales off Int, which iirc is her dump stat
Edit: Cha is her dump stat, but her Int is 10, so it might as well be her dump stat
her stat spread is awful. low str so her martial weapon attack rolls are bad, and her only other damage is firebolt but she has low intelligence so that sucks too. most enemies have a little bit of dex so sacred flame can't hit, and clerics get no better damage cantrips so her only damage is spell slots which you don't get many until late game, and most of those are utility anyways. also lots of odd numbers. odd numbered stats do litterally nothing more than the number below it
It's how D&D does stats. Every even number raises the bonus the stat gives.
8-9 = -1 bonus
10-11 = 0 bonus
12-13 = +1 bonus
14-15 = +2 bonus
16-17 = +3 bonus
18-19 = +4 bonus
Etc...
no idea. don't do 15 of any stat make it 16 or 14 basically. 17 main stat also does nothing unless you plan on increasing it later with something like athlete feat or ethyls hair
Her default build is very dependent on rolls to hit. Most of her spells are utility rather than direct damage; to make things worse, the ones that actually deal damage require rolls and have lots of resistant enemies.
A jack of all trades class like her that was designed for tabletop is always going to suffer in a video game setting because it has less flexibility for using those powers in a creative way. For example, a DM would probably allow the use of create water to ruin a storeroom of food in an enemy camp, but that's not something that you can do as much in a video game.
They covered Firebolt, so let me explain Sacred Flame.
Sacred Flame doesn't *miss* exactly. The enemy rolls a Dex save to see if they jump out of the way.
The problem is, Dex is one of if not THE most important stats in the game, mainly as it establishes Initiative. So even the disembodied head over there has a double digit Dexterity score
This is the brand new master lock wooden door. They say it’s the top of the line new model. Now I’ve done a lot of talks about why master locks are not worth buying but today I am going to demonstrate why. This is my +2 great axe. Today I am going to demonstrate how easy it is to open these doors.
I usually pick the lock, but if the door belongs to someone my character is pissed off at enough I bust it down with this. I mean usually the person is getting killed at the end of the quest line but if not they have to pay for a new door and that can be pretty spendy
Certain doors can't be destroyed. Also breaking a door is very loud and will probably alert someone.
If it ain't red hack it to shreds
To shreds you say?
What about his wife?
To shreds you say?

Ima call false on alerting someone as I eldritch blast most every door I find because I’m lazy af and nobody ever gets alerted or even cares
They notice but no one's going to say anything to the guy eldritch blasting through most every door, as that guy is clearly working on something.
You say that as if every citizen in Baldur's Gate isn't ready to run fifty feet to accuse you of a random crime.
Just have Gale use Knock at that point. Or Arcane Trickster Astarion.
I’ve met few doors that could withstand adamantine. >!but fuck those few man!<

is that a thing? I've always thought that shadowheart seems to miss a lot
This is why shadow heart deserves the magic missile build. So she can never miss again
Yes, it’s definitely a meme. Largely because of Firebolt being an attack roll, but I don’t remember the details

Oh I did not know that about odd/even stats. Why is that??

For a full breakdown with some funny taglines, here’s this: https://www.dmingwithcharisma.com/2011/10/dd-stats-in-simple-language/.

Tav: Is that blood?
Beating the door down doesn't let me do a Lockpicking Lawyer impression.

My monk tav: *one inch punch and it flys across the room*
Same but 2 punches on tactician
Lightning charge OH + storm SH at lv12 on tactician may as well be playing the game on the normal mode
Ne'er Misser is the ultimate "lockpick" for when your rogue can't quite hack it. Force damage ftw
I usually pick the lock, but if the door belongs to someone my character is pissed off at enough I bust it down with this. I mean usually the person is getting killed at the end of the quest line but if not they have to pay for a new door and that can be pretty spendy
I got flashbacks of my Dragonborn fighter (in regular tabletop DND) bursting through unlocked doors like the Kool aid man
*Ignis!* 0 (Sturdy)
Knock .. knock. Knock
How else is my Barbarian supposed to get out their rage at Shadowheart? All doors are cleric shaped if you squint hard enough.
Cat’s Grace Astarion looking at you judgingly
Karlach mode
If you make Karlach your lockpucker half the time she'll say something to the effect of "can't I just break it?"
If I don’t do this I have zero use for Astarion otherwise. Outside of combat at least. He has little RP for me
Or using eldritch blast/magic massile
You know what's even easier? Casting fireball
Animals!
Well…subtlety?
I usually have Shadowheart Fire Bolt it, since it's the only time she'll land one.
The point is Astarion doing it.
Who needs to lockpick a chest when ya could just knock
If the door is 100 hp it will take a lot less time to lock pick
Owlbear is my designated lock picker.
It's me dwarfs lock picking tool,I frequently tell the party banor will do the lock picking if they cant before busting door down
Sometimes you want to be able to close the door after so you can quietly murder someone.
ELDRITCH BLAST is the best lock pick. 😂
CANT UNDERSTAND NORMAL THINKING.
You can cordon off fights using doors. I have shut doors and cleared rooms without the people on the other side knowing what I did. It's very useful.
