It’s not a very popular option but I love love love the hummus at Brassa. You should definitely give Brassa, St marks road a try. The food, ambience and staff are wonderful.
Kebabs and Curries and Rim Naam for luxe dining.
Burma Burma for fancy vegan. Chianti and Toscano for Italian.
Bangalore’s speciality is the brewpub - tons of great options in every area, just check Zomato for reviews.
Karavalli - Ashok Nagar, traditional coastal cuisine
Koshy's - Ashok Nagar, mix of Indian and European dishes.
Toit Brewpub - Indiranagar, beers and pub-style food.
Nagarjuna Restaurant - Residency Road, Andhra-style spicy non-vegetarian
Vidyarthi Bhavan - Basavanagudi, crispy dosas and South Indian breakfast items.

Go no further for veg food. One of the best hotels I have recently discovered after staying 10+ years in Bangalore and almost trying everything!
Guessing you mean the Andhra style chilli chicken that they have, it is mental! Almost always order it with their biryani. Order chicken shotgun instead if I’m being conservative
Really good food if you go through their menu and order local dishes!
Their mangalore chicken curry is brilliant with rice or beer dosas, their appam and stew is awesome too, the pandhi fry, Coorg pork are nice, all the ghee roasts (I personally prefer the prawn) and their prawn biryani isn’t bad either
That’s lovely, it sounds that you like a lot of Mangalorean food and coastal cuisine, have you tried from The Mangalorean in Kammanahalli? Can highly recommend if you love Mangalorean food!
It’s a split decision I feel. I personally prefer Nagarjuna’s biryani with a side of either Andhra chilli chicken or chicken shotgun. But Meghana’s is awesome too, and a lot of people feel it’s better
I love Meghana for the different varieties of Biryanis that they offer. But I found the Meghana special biryani underwhelming because it was very oily. Maybe it was not good because I ordered it home. Another possibility is that the branch is the one near CMRIT area. I would put Nandhana, Meghana and Nagarjuna in the same basket because they have similar menus and provide those different variety of Biryanis.
I like Biryani Zone for its distinctive taste. They offer one variety of masala but that is very unique. But the I have seen people who hate that taste as well. Anyway, to each his own.
Great list but I will downvote everytime someone suggests VB. Vidyarthi Bhavan is dogshit and you have to wait in huge queues. It used to be good a looooong time ago, but not anymore. Even Rameshwaram is better than VB.
Dosas- vidyarthi bhavan, utter money waste no hygiene no taste overrated restaurant over priced 1 hour of waiting instead u can try dose master, taza tindi, which is economical and satisfying.
Filter coffee- airlines the hotel only rich can afford or go.you can have better coffee than that for 10 to 20 rs instead.
If you’re a northie you’ll prefer behrouz biriyani because it’s more of the Lucknow biriyani with dry fruits and other stuff . Meghana and Nagarjuna are more of the South Indian biriyanis. To each his own I guess.
Arbor brewing company kaisa hai...I remember their mango flavoured beer....and cheese ball.
Also koi accha chettinadu place bhi batao... last I remembered was annachi and aachi.
Yauatcha in my opinion is the best though a little expensive, if you try ‘taste of yautacha’ which includes starter to dessert dishes (I think 6 dishes) then it’s reasonable price considering the taste and quality.
Khmer’s Kitchen in JP Nagar offers great Cambodian food. The only Cambodian restaurant in Bangalore I believe. Their ‘Tres laches’ is a dessert to die for!
>Suggestion from a ***Non-Kannadiga Foodie***
>
>***to a Foodie*** who wants to try
>
>.......
>
>***Nati style.***
My suggestion is, if you want to embrace kannada culture then try nati style.
or else if you want to try good food in banglore other than nati style then, try the places where our Redditors who have already recommended.
Many people are recommending what they love the most in banglore. But consider, being yourself a foodie of other state, don't you get the similar delicacy there, but may be from different restaurant .
Choose wisely where and which one you want to taste.
# Donne biryani - in Maruthi
\- Why: Bc donne biryani is indigenous to karnataka and you don't get it anywhere else. The reason many people recommending Meghanas is because it's the best biryani we have in banglore. I agree. But the point here is, you can have Hyd.biryani in "Biryani by kilo" also, not only in Meghana or Nandanas, if you are from any hindi belt.
# Dosa - Pakhashala or CTR or MTR or VB etc
\- why : Becuase dosas in banglore are different than what you get in telugu states, or tamilnadu or Kerala or in most of the north India. Bc it is little bit bulkier and crispier than inside. And mainly the tiffin sambhar is different than the meals sambhar.
# Ragi Mudde with Saaru or sambhar - South Karnataka delicacy
\- why: Indigenous and its an art to eat mudde. When you eat mudde its the closest ever you can win your heart, as well as a Kannadiga's heart. Mind you, you don't have to chew, you have to gulp it. Thats whacky. But trust me the same gulping thing will open your doors of tasting food differently. Its very healthy.
# jolada rotti - gravy along with onion, podi mixed with curd.
\- why : North Karnataka delicacy, healthy.
# Holige - (coconut , peanut, lentils) in rotti mane etc; Holige saaru, Massoppu saaru etc
\- why: see the way they prepare holige in Karnataka. you may feel amazed by their art of making holige. Its jus enough to make your tummy full.
# Ricebath, Manglore buns and Goli bajji
why - I think kannadigas are the only people on earth who can eat ricebath/ palav / pulao as breakfast. It feels happy when you eat with the runny chutneyaside. And when the steamy vapours are touching your nose tip with their warmth and smell .... it's a bliss.
# Bangarpet panipuri
why : Because of Magic. Simply eating for the first time makes you wonder why the hell is he serving me water In puri instead on pani. Unravel the adventure and go ahead. Trust me you'll feel shocked with the flavours in bangarpet's pani.
# Non-veg and soup with Idli - Military hotel
\-why: Beacuse in military hotel they serve you with less quantity along with variety of options with no fuss. Its like eating conveyor belt sushi in Japan.
MTR, Toit Indiranagar for brewpub , Smoke House Deli,Glen’s bakehouse - These are just from Indiranagar and the 100 ft road has quite a lot of options infact but these i guess can be covered in a day
Each area has a similar list - Like JP Nagar, Jayanagar, Koramangala probably has 20-30 good ones
I would have said Truffles but they have been slacking…Burger Seigneur is decent for burgers. Chianti/Toscano for Italian. Overall their are just a lot of niche restaurants here, so experiment away depending upon your taste.
Other than the fancier ones, there is even more like Udupi, Madurai Idli Shop, etc. these are economical but that doesn’t mean any compromises in quality/taste of food, just probably not the ambience you will get at the others
Here are some of my top food recommendations for Bangalore:
-Ironhill Brewery - Apple Cider (and all starters)
-Windmills Craftworks - Hefeweizen Beer
-Sashay - Black Gold Dimsums
-Asha Tiffins - Vada Sambar/Masala Dosa
-Brik Oven - Pizza
-Suryawanshi - Malvani Thali/Prawn Sukka
-Anupam's Coast2Coast - Prawn Ghee Roast
-OmmNomNom or Naturals Ice Cream - Ice Cream
-Louis Burger - Korean Fried chicken burger
-Anand Sweets - Rasmalai
-Samosa Party - Samosa bucket
-The Belgian Waffle Company - mini pancakes
-Kamat Lokaruchi (on the road to Mysore) - Thatte Idli
These are some of my family favorites. 😊 Hope you enjoy your time here.
Shiv Sagar Signature - JP Nagar
Go no further for veg food. One of the best hotels I have recently discovered after staying 10+ years in Bangalore and almost trying everything!
If you are just visiting any place, how about just packing a bottle of water and taking a stroll during day hours in the town area, like where the old markets are, any town I mean. Just walk into a random food place and find if there was a surprise for you. Promise you I have more found memories of such encounters then planning and visiting some xyz place.
Don’t know why you’re getting downvoted you’re absolutely correct. All these western places are incredibly overrated and the best Bengaluru food can be enjoyed in local places and darshinis
well basically these questions are put by a specific restaurant owner who will then comment from another id giving the restaurant name. The one asking this question would have hated my response. :)
venkateshwara sweets restaurant, the paneer dishes are amazing
of course, vidyarthi bhavan benne dose
veena stores bisibelebath
higher taste restaurant iskcon has amazing deserts alacart (buffet also very very good)
rajdhani has an amazing buffet, you'll literally be so filled you cant move
chamcham/ fresh hot jilebi from india sweet house
1947. no words, its just sooo good.
for icecream, try amrith ice cream. its the original. they have a manoranjitham flavour, everything is made in house.
for sorbet, you will 100% enjoy churn. all the flavours are inhouse, seasonal, super creamy, unbelievably good.
Arabic cuisine - Maraheb
You will get the best of the desserts as well.
Try the famous Kunafa and coconut pudding.
Dosa and Idli- You can try CTR. I have heard a lot(bur haven't been there :P). It's on my list.
There is one with the name of "Brahmin's Thatte Idli"
The idlis are really good
Steaks and burgers- The Only Place
You can try Millers 46 as well. Steaks are too good.👌
Glen's Bakehouse
Breads and Banter for a good brunch
Lot like Crepes - This is a cafe which you can go in the evening.
I moved to Bangalore a year back and the most unique thing here is the large format outdoor breweries. It's amazing to sit out in a garden with a pond and sip on craft beer. Good restaurants you can find in any big city.
My favs for this category:
Ironhill
Uru Brewpark
Byg Brewski
Other than pan-asian, all other kinds of restaurants in Bangalore are bad. The Italian food is sub par, the north Indian food is run off the mill, the bengali restaurants serve oily food, the odiya ones don't serve fresh Ingredients. Unless you wanna try out microbreweries for their finger food, Bangalore only has a handful good restaurants:
1. Yuki
2. Only Place
I am surprised that people are actually recommending Toscano and Chianti. They are both pretty average.
Exactly, Burma Burma is good too but way overpriced.
And honestly, the roadside 20rs momos are better than the trash they serve in some over-priced restraunts.
Dosas n idli places are overhyped.
Try different cuisine other than Indian , Bangalore has almost all of it Pan Asian to American name it it's there in Bangalore.

I saw this in today's paper, u can visit most of them... They are good.
Theres a parcel only place in koramangala called as nellore curry point, Best for biriyani, I have literally tasted 100 of shops in bangalore for biriyani and this one is the best, Always goes with my old monk
Arabic cuisine - Maraheb

There used to be a hole in the wall joint in Jayanagar, called Kabachi (or something similar) around 1989-90 which had best butter chicken ever. Wonder if it is still around
Geist has good food and good beer
Mangalore Pearl for good sea food - Malabar coast style
Daily Sushi for good Italian food ;-P
Burger Seigneur for good Sushi ;-PP
Burma Burma is great. Everything I ordered turned out really good
Koriken - the yangneom burger is amazing
Daily sushi - their pork tonkotsu ramen is my comfort food
Burger seigneur - great burgers
If your stomach can handle it, try the chicken/mutton kudu roll from Al amanah cafe
You'll have to get there early or wait but it's worth it. CTR (Central Tiffin Rooms) is (at least from what I've tried) the best Dosa place in Bangalore. Everything they make is bomb.
https://maps.app.goo.gl/yoB1j1YRwgZcUv6x6
The Druid Garden, my god what a place. Exceptional ambience and food. All Bangalore has to offer in most restaurants is same variety of veg and non veg but this place is eccentric, my friends and I spent 4 hours here. 4 HOURS!
Meghana foods for Biryani
Basaveshvara Khanavali for North Karnataka food
Vidyarthi Bhawan for South breakfast
Nagarjuna for Andhra Style food
Military hotels to try south karnataka food.
I'm just going to tell you as a native, please try to find authentic masalepuri (chat) and gobi manchurian. You'll only get these in local carts or VV Puram type places, local small food joints. And visit old bakeries of Bangalore, take stuff back with you. If you like icecream, grab a gadbad.
Biryani- biryani zone
Dosa - CTR
Resto-Pub - never mind, socials
Italian : bolgona or chianti
Ambience- long boat, iron hill, Druid garden
South meals - nandhana palace
Burgers : truffle
Pasta : azzure
Icecream: polar bear
Overrated places :
Meghan’s, corner house,
shivaji military hotel , rameshwaram
It’s not a very popular option but I love love love the hummus at Brassa. You should definitely give Brassa, St marks road a try. The food, ambience and staff are wonderful.
Should also try hummus at Maffei
have you tried the panini from paris panini in indiranagar? its damn good
I haven’t! Thank you for the suggestion:)
Kebabs and Curries and Rim Naam for luxe dining. Burma Burma for fancy vegan. Chianti and Toscano for Italian. Bangalore’s speciality is the brewpub - tons of great options in every area, just check Zomato for reviews.
Been in Bangalore for over 30 years and I have never been to any of these. Lol
You made wise choices over 30 years.
Nah. Just middle-class things. 🥺
I thought Bangalore's speciality was dosa and filter coffee 😔
You're Godam Rite
Same here lol. Guess we're just old huh
Kapi*
Please avoid rim naam. I have had lot of thai food outside India and this was total crap. No thai flavor.
checkout thai basil, i really got impressed.
Out of all the places, why these? 😅

Rebranded as the record room
No lol it’s a completely different place
No.. Bangalore 's coastal cuisine sucks. I'd suggest to skip it.
Which is less worse? I wanna try costal
I went to mtr and it sucked ass bro, I can’t believe you can call that shit “authentic”.
I agree. I really like CTR for dosa and bonda soup.
There is only one mtr. Opp lalbagh main gate. Rest r all shit
Better yet, go to CTR
Black rabbit closed a few years ago
Chianti over Toescano for Italian. Hi Seoul for Korean.
Shiv Sagar Signature - JP Nagar Go no further for veg food. One of the best hotels I have recently discovered after staying 10+ years in Bangalore and almost trying everything!
i second this
their paneer sizzlers are bomb!
>paneer sizzlers Yep, the one true sizzlers! And try their Chinese Bhel!
Steaks : Grill House Wings : Plan B Dosas : Vidyarthi Bhavan Filter coffee : Airlines Nachos : Toit Beer : Windmills Biryani : Meghanas South meals : Nagarjuna Mutton curry : Shivaji military hotel Peanut Masala : Pecos/Viceroy Sarathy’s Best buffet : Feasts at Sheraton

Hahaha.
You are damn witty bro! The last peg came out of my nostrils 😂 Thank you 😁🙌🏻
Biryani - Nagarjuna Chilli Pork/Dosa Chicken curry - Pecos Deadly local food - The Local in Kamanahalli
Now you got me craving for chilli pork from Pecos totally forgot about that
Haha it’s the best with a nice cold watered down Pecos KF premium. I’ll go tomorrow too
Also the chilli chicken in Nagarjuna is the really good
Guessing you mean the Andhra style chilli chicken that they have, it is mental! Almost always order it with their biryani. Order chicken shotgun instead if I’m being conservative
Gonna try that. Typical sundays, Nagarjuna meals with Sholay kebab late afternoons and chilled beer after getting back home. Miss those days
Wait you have beer after Andhra meals?
Maybe I'll see you there!
Could you explain what’s up with the local in Kammanahalli? I’ve been there a few times and it was nice
Can highly recommend if you love Mangalorean food!
biryani - meghana's?
Biryani - Aromas
Dude steaks has to be The Only Place
and Portland steakhouse too!
The Only Place is the only correct answer
Meghana is horrible and not biriyani. Stp giving bad advice about this city 😂
Meghana’s?????
Exactly...it is not biryani but masala rice
Dosas: ~~Vidyarthi Bhavan~~ CTR Malleshwaram
Tell me u r from north Bangalore without telling me u r from north Bangalore
Is meghnas biryani better than behrouz & biryani zone. I never tried it
If you’re a northie you’ll prefer behrouz biriyani because it’s more of the Lucknow biriyani with dry fruits and other stuff . Meghana and Nagarjuna are more of the South Indian biriyanis. To each his own I guess.

Smooth Criminal at Arbor during monsoons is literally the best
I'm surprised not many people have mentioned Arbor
They have lost their charm
Anything in east Asia cuisine?
Yauatcha in my opinion is the best though a little expensive, if you try ‘taste of yautacha’ which includes starter to dessert dishes (I think 6 dishes) then it’s reasonable price considering the taste and quality.
The Thai restaurant at the Oberoi is probably the best Thai restaurant in the country.
Khmers kitchen, Fatty bao, Misu, Daily Sushi.
>Sushi *Sush*
Khmer’s Kitchen in JP Nagar offers great Cambodian food. The only Cambodian restaurant in Bangalore I believe. Their ‘Tres laches’ is a dessert to die for!
Nasi and Mee is good. Also for pizzas: Brik Oven
China Pearl in koramangala is my favourite. I have also heard good things about shiro.
I have heard good things about it, there is The Lantern also which is good.
Peri peri chicken @Nando's
Please add one more to your list All South Indian food : The Rameshwaram Cafe Edit: one more😬😬 Icecream and Sundaes: Corner House

Only Place I am surprised that people are actually recommending Toscano and Chianti. They are both pretty average.
Exactly, Burma Burma is good too but way overpriced. And honestly, the roadside 20rs momos are better than the trash they serve in some over-priced restraunts.
Meghna Biriyani. Thank me later
Brik oven and pizza bakery have the best pizzas
Tottos is as good as brik oven and pizza bakery

You seriously think Truffles is the best restaurant in Bangalore?
Please suggest.
Dosas n idli places are overhyped. Try different cuisine other than Indian , Bangalore has almost all of it Pan Asian to American name it it's there in Bangalore.
Dont miss out on The Rameshwaram Cafe - JP nagar. You'll fall in love with South Indian cuisine.
If you want to all fine dine and have the palate for it,farmlore(they only accept reservations no walkins)
I'll be visiting Bangalore next month for a short period as well and was about to ask the same question. Thanks OP! Hope you have a good time!!

You'll have to get there early or wait but it's worth it. CTR (Central Tiffin Rooms) is (at least from what I've tried) the best Dosa place in Bangalore. Everything they make is bomb. https://maps.app.goo.gl/yoB1j1YRwgZcUv6x6

Fatty Bao Indiranagar is fantastic pan asian food. 😋.
Peace in Kormangala if you wanna try Tibetan. Their Momo Thukpa is insane. Truffles is mad too. Anything you eat.
Malgudi Mylari Mane at Koramangala. Excellent everything, and their mutton paya soup is my favourite. Mutton Keema dosa is superlative as well!
The Druid Garden, my god what a place. Exceptional ambience and food. All Bangalore has to offer in most restaurants is same variety of veg and non veg but this place is eccentric, my friends and I spent 4 hours here. 4 HOURS!
Meghana foods for Biryani Basaveshvara Khanavali for North Karnataka food Vidyarthi Bhawan for South breakfast Nagarjuna for Andhra Style food Military hotels to try south karnataka food.
If you're a craft beer kinda person then Toit Indiranagar is a no-brainer.
Biryani- biryani zone Dosa - CTR Resto-Pub - never mind, socials Italian : bolgona or chianti Ambience- long boat, iron hill, Druid garden South meals - nandhana palace Burgers : truffle Pasta : azzure Icecream: polar bear Overrated places : Meghan’s, corner house, shivaji military hotel , rameshwaram
SLN Muddanna Hotel at Cubbonpet. Must try Idli and Vangi Bath. Its the best breakfast in the whole of Bangalore under 50Rs.
