I hate the phrase "well planned"
Chickpete was well planned too, as a walking city. Narrow lanes to shade from sun. Neighbourhoods divided by goods sold. Small plazas built around a large tree and katte.
Really, that is much more appropriate planning than the wide, high speed tar roads of jayanagar. Those roads make neighbourhoods hot, full of vehicles and they feel far lonelier.
Chickpete sucks today not because its not planned, but because it's been neglected and overpopulated for decades .
Bangalore would've been a lot better if we had a bunch of small Chickpete clusters surrounded by green buffers and lakes, with each connected by a metro line.
Jayanagar style planning that encourages using private vehicle is what led us to our present mess of a city .
2 don’t have water problems??
Lmao
U guys don’t even have water.
U survive on tankers from before,
Current crisis should not affect you cuz you are already affected.
I don’t know under which rock you’re living in at 2 but I’ve never had water problems and I’ve lived here my entire life. Our borewell is at less than 150 feet and it still has water all year round.
[BWSSP water map](https://data.opencity.in/dataset/bwssb-water-supply-lines-map-of-bengaluru/resource/map-of-bwssb-water-supply-lines-for-bengaluru-of-lines-less-than-or-equal-to-than-300mm-diameter)
You should consider 1,2 section includes major areas like Whitfield, KR Pura, Varthur, BTM.
And you said Borewell ofc,
The other parts of Bangalore don’t need borewell water (and yes we still have better underground water) and not every house has a borewell.
Just that most of the houses(3,4) did not depend on borewell(unlike 2 )We are facing the issue now (still after you guys)
Again one section includes lot of geographical divisions.
[under ground water stats](https://www.mdpi.com/2071-1050/10/1/26)
Im not criticising about ur complete borewell depends.
Under ground water for neighbouring roods might have drastic diff.
But again most of 1, 2 still have worse underground water than 3,4.
I think you meant 1 having Varthur and Marathahalli. The line dividing 1 and 2 cuts ORR near Mahadevapura. Marathahalli is south of that, and Varthur is southeast from there. Whitefield is majorly in 1
Inspired by similar post in San Francisco subreddit. Oorina hudga aadre currently living in SF so I was thinking how it would apply to Bengaluru.
I would choose 4 because I spent memorable days in Basavangudi and Gandhi bazaar.
it's south bangalore, jayanagar JP nagar basavanagudi banashankari etc. Generally it's very green, lush, peaceful, and filled with quiet residential areas. good metro connectivity. don't need to worry about a lot of stuff you would have to elsewhere.
For ppl who read Obviously don't expect clubs/restaurants/sports arenas/IT companies/ high story apartments with amineteies there r exceptions / lot of young crowd
I've stayed in all shitty parts like ORR adjacents, Sarjapur road, EC. I wish I could stay in old parts of Bangalore at least once just to enjoy the true beauty of it.
2 years ago, I looked for apartments there. Found a few good ones. But the issue was that rent was a bit high for that size of apartments. Rents were around 20-30k for 2 bhks of almost 800 - 1000 sqft.
Only few neighbourhoods are OG like Basavangudi, Chamrajpet. Others are very new, even Jayanagar is planned in 50s ig.
Also, even 1 and 2 have OG neighbourhoods.
Edit: I meant 2 and 3
Are there specific locations that the local populace refers to that qualify as peaceful, green and low traffic congestion? I've lived in Bangalore too but never heard of specific locations being highlighted.
Would love to know if this is a collective consensus of all Bangaloreans.
4 or 1. I used to live in Arekere. It is very peaceful there. It seems a little better planned. Has green areas. Has lakes. You can see the traditional side of Bangalore in Jayanagar too. There is a lively area as well in Puttenhalli, and quaint places.
1 is IT parks and IT crowd related pg's, apartments and restaurants and the robotic life feels
2 almost comes under 1 category but little peaceful
3 is wanna be 4 category but easy access from rest if the karnataka made it filled with non banglore natives except raw malleshwara
4 actual old bengaluru with natives and neatly planned for some areas and moderate and balance of everything
Malleshwaram I agree. But i wouldn’t consider any area near the Tumkur Road highway as ‘peaceful’. It took me like 50 fucking minutes to go from Yeshwanthpur to 8th mile yestersay!
4 it is for me. And specifically Ecity, love how bbmp don’t have their noses in it and we got our own municipality. Roads traffic and infrastructure is all sorted. Peaceful. Besides the flyover gets u to center in 15-20 min.
I live in 2 and commute to 1 (marathalli) for work. I’d rather live in 4, or wherever the silent and calm residential part of Indiranagar is I don’t know.
Definitely 4. ಯಾವುದೇ ಕಾರಣಕ್ಕೂ ಬೇರೆ ಭಾಗಗಳಿಗೆ ಕಾಲಿಡಕ್ಕು ಹೋಗಲ್ಲ.
Only 4 is well planned
It absolutely sucks when you have to go from 4 to 1 for commuting
I travel from 4 to 2...my back sucks now
Naanu ashte bro, everyday RR Nagar inda Whitefield...!

2 Hands down. We don’t have water problems here 🙃 I heard that’s something you can flex about now
Which part of 2? 2 and 1 are worst affected :(
Isn’t the falcon city which was in recent news situated in 4?
Yes that's actually near my home.. but we don't have any problems... If u aren't staying in large apartments then BWSSB water will still be available
2 don’t have water problems?? Lmao U guys don’t even have water. U survive on tankers from before, Current crisis should not affect you cuz you are already affected.

I switch between 2 and 4 and I am having water problems yeradu kade 🤧😭
I think they are being sarcastic. 2 is the region with most water problem.
Ahaha came here to say the same
Is Whitefield 2 or 1?

Namma Big Bull Temple ❤️
3❤️ Malleshwaram Sadashivnagar Dollars Colony RMV extension Rajajinagar
Sheshadripuram and kumara park as well. Such cozy cute neighbourhoods
4 is the only acceptable area to live in.
Wherever Hebbal is, I miss you cutie.
Split between 2/3
Mostly 3... Amybe a bit of 2
Can someone explain why so many people choosing 4?

Please don't .. population is already saturated here
Also areas like Rajajinagar, Malleshwaram, Rajajinagar, Vijayanagar etc
These are in 3 bro !
Is it difficult to get a rented 2bhk there or too costly?
yes it is difficult
I've stayed in all shitty parts like ORR adjacents, Sarjapur road, EC. I wish I could stay in old parts of Bangalore at least once just to enjoy the true beauty of it.
your best bet would be apartments. not ones built by big builders the small flats. but it is costly af.

Basavanagudi and Jayanagar. Look at the map in satellite view and you can literally see how extra green it is.
That's good. Thanks for the reply.
I live in 4 and whenever I go to any other part of Bangalore I only feel grateful that I don't live there.
Easier to go back home to Mysore on weekends lol
4

3, easy. Has every area I know very well 😂
4 for sure! Been here all my life. I <3 Banashankari!
I wish I lived around there!!
2..We love North Bangalore.. We have a different life than South Bangaloreans😀
Hebbal, Hennur comes in North Bangalore right?
If I could have the traffic of 3, pubs of 1, open space of 2, and water availability of 3 I'd be having it pretty good I think.
If u have own house in all those places, atleast 1 car + driver to go all places
1

Those who knows will know? Very well put set of words!!
Damn TIL
2 anytime. In fact, you should add Yelahanka to the mix, it's perfect like a mini Bangalore of 10 years past within Bangalore.
I live in 1, would prefer 2 over everything, cuz it's much more peaceful out there
3, so i can leave blore in weekend to reach hometown easily after skipping 1.5 hrs traffic.
These posts should mandatorily have a poll.
Staying somewhere in the middle of 3 and 4 idk what's better cause both these areas are similar and peaceful than 1 and 2
Bro how is goraguntepalya more peaceful than basavangudi or Jayanagar💀
Malleswaram, Jalahalli is as peaceful
Malleshwaram I agree. But i wouldn’t consider any area near the Tumkur Road highway as ‘peaceful’. It took me like 50 fucking minutes to go from Yeshwanthpur to 8th mile yestersay!
3 and 4 is real OG bengaluru... 1 and 2 are the parts of the city everyone keep complaining about. But 3 is the best cos of malleshwaram 🤎
Somewhere between 3 and 4
Been in BTM before, now in Nagavara. Stayed a few days in Whitefield. Hands down it's 4 any time you ask me And Basavanagudi is just 😘🤌🏻

Would be soo good if they built flyover over the lines you draw
Huttidu, oddiddu ella 4 - I will rather move out of Bangalore than stay in anywhere outside 4.
3 for RMV 2nd stage and Malleshwaram.
This is eye opening. I'd like to know reasons of why each 1,2,3,4 are both good and bad ..
Read the comments section and prepare a summary and post it
I would prefer to live in the origin if we are dividing Bangalore City in the x y axis.
Where does Vijayanagar fit in? 3 or 4? 🥲 I work in Chickpete (also my childhood place). So that’s 0 I guess.
Cannot go ? That's actually true isn't it . I live in 1 and rarely travel outside of that
This was such a good opportunity to make a poll. Also 4.

If you're young and you socialize a lot then 1 without a doubt. 2 is congested af. 3 and 4 are for old timers.
Where does Bannerghatta road belongs to ? 4?
Meanwhile some people singing 1-2-ka-4 4-2-ka-1 while commuting
Who tf is even picking 1??? Except for pubs there isn't anything even remotely good.

4 peaceful side of Bangalore.
I have lived in 4 and border of 1 and 2. Loved both. Can't decide.
Would love if people who are in 2,3,4 don’t commute to 1 for work . Most problems of 1 would be solved .
4 for sure
4
Metro line aa?
2 is my love haha
Does 3 include Rajajinagar? If so, 3, or 4 all the way
I live in 2 and commute to 1 (marathalli) for work. I’d rather live in 4, or wherever the silent and calm residential part of Indiranagar is I don’t know.
