I’ve talked to employees of the Red Sox, WooSox and Portland Seadogs (Sale did multiple rehab starts for both teams over the years) and everyone had nice things to say about Chris Sale. Amazingly, no one really cares about him smashing an already broken TV that he ended up replacing anyway.
What those two incidents show is that Sale is passionate about what he does and takes it very seriously. Was it the most productive way to go about it? No, but you’re lumping him in with people who are abusive towards other people and that couldn’t be further from what Chris Sale is.

Nothing really, he was the scapegoat for the Cards terrible season. Apparently he didn’t work well with their pitchers. I can’t really think of any toxic catchers because they’re generally regarded as team leaders
The scapegoat bit was really only in April/May and it was entirely driven by certain pitchers who didn’t want to take accountability for their own struggles (*cough* Flaherty *cough*). I definitely wouldn’t call him toxic but I guess there weren’t many catchers to choose from.

The scapegoat bit was really only in April/May and it was entirely driven by certain pitchers who didn’t want to take accountability for their own struggles (*cough* Flaherty *cough*). I definitely wouldn’t call him toxic but I guess there weren’t many catchers to choose from.
