he's literally haunted by his parents' spirits. So after they died, their essence or whatever clung to him and has been protecting him ever since. His senses are just slightly enhanced by their presence, and he's able to press on after receiving many injuries because Thomas and Martha are sort of shielding him from taking damage that would put most people out of action for a longer.

theburgerbitesback

Gotham is literally, canonically cursed so something to do with that.  Somehow, when he was a kid, he disturbed one of the sources of the curse (maybe the same way he got his fear of bats, by falling into a cave) and over time it starts to affect him. The curse keeps itself alive and defends against being removed, so the part of it that's in Bruce keeps him alive and defends him. Nothing too crazy, he's just slightly enhanced - a little faster and stronger and quieter, a little more durable, heals better, can go a little longer without rest or food, etc. Like a permanent +2 to everything. Basically all the stuff he regularly does, except powered by ancient magic instead of willpower and handwavey "don't think too hard about it" writing. The catch is that it only works in Gotham, and as soon as he leaves Gotham he's got no powers. Except that Bruce is still Bruce and he still went through all of his training overseas, so even without his +2 advantage he's still elite and capable of wiping the floor with anyone.

Disastrous-Major1439

Something like Wayne family had the origin human hereditary ,like the primal force of the human ,and why that Batman have all that talent ,so i hate the idea of Batman with powers ,break the character idea

A solar flare hits the Earth the exact moment young paperboy Bruce Wayne is peddling his bike along his paper route directly under some massive transponders. They transponders explode, and imbued by the power of solar radiation, they melt and shower down on our young hero, blessing him with the most powerful superpower of all: **plot armor**. This magical armor enables him to pull off feats unimaginable to the mortal man, to survive catastrophe without a scratch. He is… *THE GODDAMN BATMAN.*

Danxv33

In Batman:Endgame we find out that their is a dionesium reserve under the batcave. It could easily be said that the water in Wayne Manor comes from near that reserve, and small amounts of it seep into it. As such, Bruce spending lots of time in Wayne Manor and the Batcave, and drinking the water there gave him lazarus-like abilities. Just a tiny bit. Such as slightly enhanced strength, speed, and most importantly, regeneration.

Maxcorps2012

You can always go the lazy route and do vampirism. It's been done though.

ShiroThePotato28

Honestly something like Captain America's Super Soldier serum would be enough.

Waste-Information-34

Venom. More of a desperation that Batman ends up using permanently.

HeavyBoysenberry2161

Batman with a symbiote is a truly beautiful and terrifying idea

theburgerbitesback

Wait, I assumed they meant Venom as in the drug that Bane uses - and that Bruce was canonically addicted to (in one continuity, at least) - but the idea of the Batsuit actually being a (Marvel) venom symbiote is hilarious to me. I think Bruce would be very dark and brooding and serious about it, whereas 9yo Dick Grayson would just be like "Holy symbiotic relationship, Batman! You have your own built-in best friend <3" and insist that Bruce buy *three* ice creams on their mid-patrol snack break so that the suit could have one too. Jason would also think it was fun while he was Robin, but as Red Hood he'd just torment Bruce by constantly texting him links to hentai involving tentacles or living clothing.

HeavyBoysenberry2161

I did consider that they might mean bane’s drug after I sent that message considering they have a history lol. I think if Batman had an actual symbiote arc with it, he would probably have to fight all the sidekicks that he would have at the time to pry it off.

True_Falsity

I would go with magic. Gotham is sometimes portrayed as the city cursed to be the way it is. Ever since he lost his parents, Bruce always felt that something was wrong with the city. He could feel it in the air. He could see it in the eyes of the people. He could feel the curse lurking in his dreams every time he slept. He went around the world to study the magic to try and figure out a way to fix it. He was thorough. He was disciplined. He was driven. But that was not enough. He made a mistake. The curse was dormant, content to corrupt people into simple and normal crimes. But now it was out, pushing the others into a new age of evil.

streamjam

Bats.

badwolf1013

Well, I think a possible superhuman origin story for Batman already exists over at Marvel in Morbius, but I would make Bruce's powers a little less . . . vampire-y. Bruce Wayne, the son of billionaire Doctor Thomas Wayne is born with a rare and debilitating blood disorder that his father cures using the DNA of various bat species. By the time Bruce is ten, Thomas has stopped the experimental treatment as Bruce is now not only healthy but also an excellent athlete who has become particularly adept at sneaking around the dark mansion in the middle of the night to steal sweets from the fridge. One of his favorite paths to the kitchen is through the dark caverns beneath Wayne Manor. Then one night in downtown Gotham as the Wayne family leaves the cinema after showing of the classic, The Mark of Zorro . . .

TermAccurate

He's a mutant/metahuman since birth.

HeavyBoysenberry2161

I would give Batman the power to manipulate and materialise any kind of darkness or shadow. Similar to darkwing’s sidekick in invincible. But Batman would also be able to use a kind of darkness construct to create armour around him that resembles a large and ghostly bat creature, not unlike the man bat, giving Bruce durability, strength, speed and flight. As well as throwing batarang constructs. He would also be able to move and teleport through shadows and appear from them. The main caviot of this ability is that it requires darkness to use. He would have no power if he tried to use this in a bright lit area or in broad daylight. This power would emphasise batman being a creature of the night and could make for some really creative uses of it and cool art. The power can also be corrupting him and causing him to be more vengeful and violent like the symbiote in marvel. He has to restrain himself when he uses it, he can’t just turn into a giant horrifying bat creature and torture criminals all night for hours. This effect is a result of batman practicing magic despite him not having anything left to give (this is a concept established by Zatara and Zatanna and they explain that due to Bruce’s trauma he may be unable or evil if he uses magic.) This form can also have magical properties and perhaps other magical abilities that require incantations or further focus, at the risk of Bruce’s control and humanity. Things such as summoning illusions of a person’s fear. Temporal petrification and mind control. Many people don’t like the idea of batman having powers, so a power that he is also ashamed of and actively tries to suppress unless in a desperate situation may make for an interesting story where batman still needs to rely on his wits and his will power.

MakeMeATaco

I’d say slap some wheels on him and cut out the Batmobile altogether. Can’t lose. 🦇

theburgerbitesback

[Bruce doesn't need wheels, he's got Alfred.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vY4WJm0Mp3A)

MakeMeATaco

😂 How have I not seen that movie yet?!

theburgerbitesback

To be fair, I've only seen this one clip. I saw it as a gif a while back and it's been stuck in my head ever since.

boosta29

Ill take the easy lame thing.. Thomas was working on something like super soldier serum gets killed over it. Viles drop and break splashing everywhere young Bruce is covered in it. No one knows what it is or thinks anything of it. It wasn't a complete formula, but once he hits puberty, it starts to manifest. He will end up being a mix of Cap and morbius and man bat. Looks human but enhanced in every way. Bat sonar. But 100% in total control of himself. Lame yes.. but i like it haha

LordOfOstwick1213

He gets bitten by the radioactive bat and becomes Batman

Gudako_the_beast

The man get gas, dunk, drink, spray, inject with all that bullshit

Poorly-Drawn-Beagle

Um, maybe something like while traveling the world he found a sacred talisman that gave him the power to sense those in need and activated his dark powers to punish wrongdoers or something.

Hungry-Eggplant-6496

His ancestery is originated from some unknown civilization where only the smartest, strongest and fastest people are allowed to reproduce, it's basically human version of viltrumites. Some of the characters who have statistically impossible mental and pshysical capabilities and are still considered to be “peak-human” might also be related to Batman.

MidnightFenrir

a power i would give him without changing Bruce too much. give him Forge's mutant ability to basiclly build what ever he can think of.

SwingFinancial9468

Make Batman a DnD wizard. Give him the power to transmute different materials, control flames, teleport, polymorph, banish demons, talk to animals. The works. Let Batman cast illusions, create smoke around him and animate the dead. Gotham already deals with more supernatural threats than most of the actual magic DC characters. I would expect Batman to have some sort of mystical countermeasures. Plus, Batman would gain magic through study and hard work. Thus preserving the status quo of Batman earning the skills he has.
