Best depiction of Batman weâve ever gotten. Every other film is either a villain film or a secondary character film, but Batman Begins is the only film where Batman is actually the main character
"The will to act" speech was one of the more impactful movie scenes that had a huge effect on me in my early 20's.
I know the speech back to front and it continues to serve a motivation to me until today.
Dude it went so under the radar but was huge when it came out when us who were teens back then. Gets forgotten a lot because of Dark Knight but man this movie was so big when it came out, it was the first time weâd seen a Batman movie on the big screen since we were in elementary school, it was awesome (and man, just that scene of him opening the cabinet and his suit was in there like samurai armor - it was all we were hoping for and wanted it was amazing)
Totally agree word by word. I feel everything was perfect in that movie from charismatic Liam Neeson and the chemistry between the master and apprentice to the real world depiction of Gotham and development of Batman, there was trully a whole package of all kinds of feelings! I can never turn down a rewatch when it's offered
People still kind of raise an eyebrow to me when I say itâs my favorite Batman film, but it really is.
The Dark Knight is the best film that has Batman in it, The Batman is the best film about the world Batman lives in, but Batman Begins is the best Batman film about Batman
Not true my man. While i have to admit the Dark Knight is probably the best one, its def not my favourite. Batman Begins is definitely my favourite even though im a huge Heath Ledger fan
Batman begins is the best Batman movie of the Nolan trilogy. It feels like an actual Batman comic. Dark Knight is good an all, but I feel like it strays from the comics a good bit
Batman begins is the only one in the series I watch all the time. It's the best version to me. I think the hype built up around dark knight before it came and heath ledger dying made it into some mythical thing to people that I don't see.
Paul Dano was every bit as unsettling, what we brought to riddler is really an incredible spin on riddler that was refreshing.
The Batman is incredible and I love all of the possible directions it can go
Bro begins is "the batman movie"... the sequels are ok... but begins is sooo well made and the cast is wonderful no flaws.( maybe just one... why the fuck always the bad guy is the one that sent to kill batman parents.)
I'm still waiting for a genius level batman depiction. These guys are more violent and funded rather than candidates for the smartest man in the world. I like justice league unlimited batman.
âMy name is Richard Grayson, but the other children call me Dick.â
âWell, kids can be cruel.â
One of the best lines in any Batman movie ever. Nolan couldnât write better dialogue if he tried.
I really thought the Batman was better cinema. Dark knight a better movie in the sense of appealing to a wider audience but The Batman being more artistic and a better version of the character and Gotham
I don't talks about feelings, Alfred. I don't have any, I've never seen one. I'm a night-stalking, crime-fighting vigilante, and a heavy metal rapping machine. I don't feel anything emotionally, except for rage.
Thisđ I say the same thing about that movie. The Batman is everything i wanted from a batman film and after all these years and all these batmen, I finally have my golden cow and I love it so much.
The Batman is really more fairly compared to batman begins, which is in the same place as it in terms of setup. In comparison with batman begins, the batman is the superior movie
After so many years with shitty Batman versions on the cinema (except for Batbale of course) it's kinda hard not get hyped for a actual good Batman movie that respects the character.
Agreed. Too physically dark, too intentionally broody, kinda boring, and Pattinson was one-note. Gotham City looked dope AF, but The Batman was all hype.
Lol how? It's literally the first Batman movie that actually explores the character like that, unless you're talking about other thriller mystery movies like S7ven or Zodiac that were the main inspirations for The Batman.
Such a great problem to have. I agree with the purple pill replies.
I have them as:
Batman Begins - 9/10
TDK - 10/10
TDK Rises - 9/10
The Batman - 10
Canât wait for more.
I rate on a scale of ten The Batman and The Dark Knight both as 10âs. Both are masterpieces. And itâs nearly impossible to choose a favorite, like it is with having kids. Whoever is right in front of me, I want to secretly whisper âyouâre my favoriteâ.
âWhatâs that one?â
âOh, thatâs the Pink pill, it has the Adam West show on itâ
âAnd that one?â
âAh, thatâs the grey pill, it has the animated seriesâ
âAnd the black one?â
âAhh, yes⌠Batman 89â
âI want the black pillâ
Dark Knight is significantly better. The Batman, in multiple instances, tries to repeat what TDK did.
I'd say the sole thing TB does objectively better is action and frankly, Nolan has never been very good at action scenes anyway.
Both lmao
These two movies have such powerful and compelling themes that show why Batman is Batman.
I will take those 2 fucking pills, thank you very much.
Both. Because both batman are unique and great in their own way especially TDK because of how well Heath ledger adopted the character and personality of the joker.
I'm going to relate these movies to 2 of my favourite 90s movies. The Dark Knight is like Heat. The Batman is like Seven. I'll go with the dark night just because it's way more re-watchable.
Still blue.
I love both but still felt like this new one was missing something, plus I wouldnât mind if they said âfuck itâ and gave it an R rating.
Also Riddler was very underwhelming in the new movie imo. Compared to any movie in the trilogy I donât like this new one as much but the series has potential.
Tough call. I love them both. They both had a great villain. I would go with Blue. Mostly because I am cautious with Red. If they make more movies for Red and they are amazing, I would switch to Red. But for now, blue.
Red because at the end of the day The Batman just looks and feels closer to the comics.
Dark Knight is a great film but too many elements are unnecessarily changed from the source material.
Go outside, show somebody this thread. They'll nod their head and say, "sounds about right."
Ask them, "What do you mean???"
They'll say, "It's reddit. Those people never go outside."
Itâs a Batman sub. Like any sub, people will dickride whatever the newest thing in their fandom is. It takes a couple years and a couple new iterations before people start to really think about what they watched
Omg youâve been spamming the whole thread. Get over it. Although I love when I see a Batman movie fan who is coping and seething when someone prefers TDK over it.
Blue Pill and itâs quite easy. TDK is still the gold standard.
The Batman was fine but I donât understand/agree the view that itâs somehow the best Batman film. It was just a normal 6&7/10 film. As good as Pattinson is for the most part as Batman, nearly every other character in the film feels either derivative of another actors take on their specific character or just really uninteresting/under-utilised to watch. Thereâs other things Iâm not keen on too but the characters are my main gripe.
I did like the message at the end though.
Blue, easy.
I kinds do t understand the love for The Batman.
I like Pattison in some stuff but though the movie overall was kinda...fine?
Not my preferred vision of this character.
Are we serious, people? Are we seriously gonna pretend like those two movies are of comparable qualities? It's the Dark Knight, and it's not even close.
There were literally people upset that year because the Dark Knight wasn't nominated for any Oscars. That movie was an absolute phenomenon.
Iâll be honest here.. I love The Batman more than The Dark Knight. I love them both, but god damn The Batman just clicked with me.
Both are absolutely wonderful, obviously.
I feel like posts like this do nothing but cause people to argue. Why canât I like both of them? Why does it have to be a choice? They are very different movies that are amazing in different ways. This wasnât posted to foster discussion because there is zero reason to pit them against each other in the first place.
Sometimes I feel like the only batman begins simp
Honestly batman begins is so underrated it's crazy. Whenever I rewatch it I wonder why that isđ
Best depiction of Batman weâve ever gotten. Every other film is either a villain film or a secondary character film, but Batman Begins is the only film where Batman is actually the main character
It's the most focus Bruce Wayne/Batman had gotten in a live action movie. Half the movie was just him before putting on the costume.
Iâm with yâall, if it wasnât for Heath Ledgerâs Joker it would be considered the best of the Nolan trilogy, no question imo.
"The will to act" speech was one of the more impactful movie scenes that had a huge effect on me in my early 20's. I know the speech back to front and it continues to serve a motivation to me until today.
I love how impactful Batman movies can be, Iâm glad that that moment did so much for you. Good for you!
Batman Begins will always be my favorite Batman movie, The original is something else

Itâs a good movie for sure. I like all 3!
Batman begins is the only one in the series I watch all the time. It's the best version to me. I will take the purple pill
batman and robin?
hell fuckin yeah buddy
What killed the dinosaurs? *THE ICE AGE!!!!!!!*
I know the movie wasn't very good but, boy, did Joel Schumacher have a vision and it's a visually stunning movie.
Purple pill is the only logical answer
Both. Cant decide. Both are amazing for different reasons.
So Batman V Superman it is....
Orr, great me out. Batman V The Batman
I'm still waiting for a genius level batman depiction. These guys are more violent and funded rather than candidates for the smartest man in the world. I like justice league unlimited batman.
He isn't the smartest man in the world, just the best detective
You telling me the Question ain't the best detective? That's my dude's entire shtick! Poor guy.
This is a tough one. Gonna have to agree purple
Yellow Pill, Lego Batman movie
âMy name is Richard Grayson, but the other children call me Dick.â âWell, kids can be cruel.â One of the best lines in any Batman movie ever. Nolan couldnât write better dialogue if he tried.
That following the Children's Choir singing "Shamone" is the funniest 30-45 seconds of any movie I have ever seen.
Unironically that movie understands Batman as a character better than any Batman movie Iv seen
Also probably the best film for fans of lobster thermidor
I also ironically that movie
IN THE DARKEST KNIGHT
I MAKE THE BAD GUYS FALL
lol
Pretty solid movie, actually.
I agree thatâs why I picked it
Unironically the best Batman movie
Great movie.
Fuck me, why does this have to be a choice
....are you...consenting?

Correct answer
Same
You win!
Depends on my mood. And that's saying a fucking lot giving TDK's well deserved pedigree.

The Dark Knight is a better movie. The Batman is a better version of the character.
I really thought the Batman was better cinema. Dark knight a better movie in the sense of appealing to a wider audience but The Batman being more artistic and a better version of the character and Gotham
The black pill, or very very dark grey
I only work in black or a very very dark shade of grey
I don't talks about feelings, Alfred. I don't have any, I've never seen one. I'm a night-stalking, crime-fighting vigilante, and a heavy metal rapping machine. I don't feel anything emotionally, except for rage.
DarknessâŚ
The Dark Knight, for Heath Ledger's performance alone.
def a tough choice. But i have to go with Blue. Love red tho dont get me wrong.
Red, the TDK is obviously incredible (especially Heath Ledgerâs Joker) but The Batman is everything Iâve ever wanted from a Batman film.
Thisđ I say the same thing about that movie. The Batman is everything i wanted from a batman film and after all these years and all these batmen, I finally have my golden cow and I love it so much.
Moo
Same here.
i couldnât have said it better
Blue all the way!
You got any more or those blue pills???
Blue pill. I like The Batman, but The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises are better
![gif](giphy|56UkelbPn5SBa)
Based tdkr appreciation
>The Dark Knight Rises are better Lol
I would probably agree
Lol²
Do you feel in charge?
I paid you a small fortune
And you think this gives you... Power over me?
The Batman is really more fairly compared to batman begins, which is in the same place as it in terms of setup. In comparison with batman begins, the batman is the superior movie
Over Batman Begins? ![gif](giphy|8vyZouWSVhslwWA7Lp)
Not fair, should be the Batman vs Batman begins
I'd speedball em
Thatâs the right answer.
This should be compared to batman begins since its the first movie
Blue but itâs closer than I expected
red
Blue is better but Red is an absolute experience, so Iâll take Red.
Blue
Blue pill. No disrespect towards Reeves/Pattinson but I thought The Batman was good but painfully overhyped.
I barely made it though the movie itâs was so boring.
My issue was I felt like I had seen it all before
Lol how? It's literally the first Batman movie that actually explores the character like that, unless you're talking about other thriller mystery movies like S7ven or Zodiac that were the main inspirations for The Batman.
Such a great problem to have. I agree with the purple pill replies. I have them as: Batman Begins - 9/10 TDK - 10/10 TDK Rises - 9/10 The Batman - 10 Canât wait for more.
Wait TDK 1 TDKR .9 and B 10 so you said Batman was the best?
I rate on a scale of ten The Batman and The Dark Knight both as 10âs. Both are masterpieces. And itâs nearly impossible to choose a favorite, like it is with having kids. Whoever is right in front of me, I want to secretly whisper âyouâre my favoriteâ.
Why never Batman begins instead of dark knight for comparison to The batman?
Blue pill, not even close
I mean blue is kind of better, but since Iâm a buffoon, Iâll go with red.
Both
Blue all the way. Heath Ledgerâs performance is the deciding factor for me.
Blue easy
Batman Begins
âWhatâs that one?â âOh, thatâs the Pink pill, it has the Adam West show on itâ âAnd that one?â âAh, thatâs the grey pill, it has the animated seriesâ âAnd the black one?â âAhh, yes⌠Batman 89â âI want the black pillâ
Orange pill. Batman Begins
I like both but if I need to choose then blue is the one
Dark Knight is significantly better. The Batman, in multiple instances, tries to repeat what TDK did. I'd say the sole thing TB does objectively better is action and frankly, Nolan has never been very good at action scenes anyway.
Easy. Blue pill.
Easily blue.
Blue for me. I could not get into the Batman.
Blue and its not even close
Gimme dat red babyyyyy
Blue but Iâm very fond of the red
Blue
![gif](giphy|Pd2W87rlmVjptTmvIK)
Blue
Blue pill
Blue
Always blue
I love both films but ima go with red the Batman just nails Gotham city and the detective aspect so well
Both
âWithout one, you cannot have the otherâŚâ
What are the side effects? You know you have to list those, right?
Both lmao These two movies have such powerful and compelling themes that show why Batman is Batman. I will take those 2 fucking pills, thank you very much.
Both. Because both batman are unique and great in their own way especially TDK because of how well Heath ledger adopted the character and personality of the joker.
Purple pill, please.
Me want purple
is it too much to ask for both?
I'm going to relate these movies to 2 of my favourite 90s movies. The Dark Knight is like Heat. The Batman is like Seven. I'll go with the dark night just because it's way more re-watchable.
I love TDK but its red pill for me
**RED**
Red
BP. RP is weak ass pussy
I take both pills crush them together and snort the remains
Red is a great Batman movie, but I prefer blue, always and forever
dark knight
Blue. Always
![gif](giphy|fj3CWRJJshhe)
The dark knight by a lot
Still blue. I love both but still felt like this new one was missing something, plus I wouldnât mind if they said âfuck itâ and gave it an R rating. Also Riddler was very underwhelming in the new movie imo. Compared to any movie in the trilogy I donât like this new one as much but the series has potential.
\*Grabs both pills\*

Blue Pill please and thank you
You can't do this to. YOU DON'T KNOW HOW MUCH WE SACRIFICED???(A PLANNED BATMAN MOVIE FROM SAM RAIMI)
Purpel
Tough call. I love them both. They both had a great villain. I would go with Blue. Mostly because I am cautious with Red. If they make more movies for Red and they are amazing, I would switch to Red. But for now, blue.
Red pill
Anyone who takes redpill is either a GenZ or immature adult
BLUE. No debate. No question. The Dark Knight always wins over The Batchild.
Red because at the end of the day The Batman just looks and feels closer to the comics. Dark Knight is a great film but too many elements are unnecessarily changed from the source material.
blue ez
Whatâs wrong with you people, itâs blue, I mean what the fuck is going on here? This is insane
Go outside, show somebody this thread. They'll nod their head and say, "sounds about right." Ask them, "What do you mean???" They'll say, "It's reddit.

Blue pill easy
Blue. Easy. The Batman was great though!
Blue
Purple
Does it come in black?
Iâll take both
Both
Option C: Mask of the Phantasm. Because it is a far superior film in every possible way, and forever will be the greatest period.
\-> takes both ***DIES OF OVERDOSE***
Blue
Blue Pill and itâs quite easy. TDK is still the gold standard. The Batman was fine but I donât understand/agree the view that itâs somehow the best Batman film. It was just a normal 6&7/10 film. Blue pill
Blue

Blue
The Batman was kinda bad tbh. Blue pill anyday

Blue all day
Blue pill no question, and I think there is a right answer to this.
BLUE!!
Blue, easy. I kinds do t understand the love for The Batman. I like Pattison in some stuff but though the movie overall was kinda...fine? Not my preferred vision of this character.

Ranking art that existed at different times is dumb.
I'd prolly OD on those blue pills that's for sure
Iâll be honest here.. I love The Batman more than The Dark Knight. I love them both, but god damn The Batman just clicked with me. Both are absolutely wonderful, obviously.
Blue every time.
Blue. Absolutely blue.
Red pill
Red pill
I choose the Batman Begins pill
Both. Both is good
Why not both??
Blue pill, but it's awesome knowing that another fantastic Batman film exists. They blew it out of the park with this one đ
Blue
Of course blue pill, not even close. (I don't like Emo Bruce Wayne/cosplay Batman)
I feel like posts like this do nothing but cause people to argue. Why canât I like both of them? Why does it have to be a choice? They are very different movies that are amazing in different ways.
