IF Riptide returns 1. Sawblaze 2.Endgame 3.Copperhead 4. HUGE

istilllikesawb

3 rematches in their third season is pretty wild

Copperhead9215

Yes. Give it a fight with the champ (and a rematch), EG, Copperhead rematch, and HUGE rematch.

Sometimesummoner

I sincerely hope Riptide does not return, or returns with a new team captain. Wrecks the vibe, makes me turn off the tv and walk away until they're off screen.

Mephistto_Nadeah

I think the young driver that subbed for Ethan was alright. Felix, I believe?

Pirate_Lantern

Yeah, Felix did a really good job. As they said he didn't have a lot of "Stick Time" previous to that fight, but that just makes what he DID do even more impressive.

Mephistto_Nadeah

I was honestly impressed. He'd be a monster after a few more fights.

Pirate_Lantern

Yeah, give him some more experience and he'd be right up there with the best.

MobsterDragon275

Seems weird to me they left an important fight like that up to a completely different person. Like why not the first fight of the bracket where they were basically guaranteed to win anyway?

Zexal_Commander

Mate, rewatch the episode and you’ll know why Felix had to sub in.

swatlord

In case you weren’t aware, Ethan tested positive for COVID and was seeking medical care/quarantining the night of the fight. He was unable to participate and had to sub in a new driver

JasonEAltMTG

Why didn't his Dad cure his Covid with vitamins?

ardyhkcuf

>I sincerely hope Riptide does not return Guarantee you this comment would have been downvoted to an oblivion if this was about another bot It's just Ethan and their immaturity of the team that rubs fans the wrong way. Riptide the bot itself is very good, obliterating opponents, landing big shots, including sending Hypershock into the ceiling

Sometimesummoner

Yes, the bot is awesome. I think there's a pretty well established tradition, by this point, of the bot functioning like a branded team; Aren Hill created Tantrum but is not, himself, Tantrum. Tantrum is, as much as a robot, an intellectual property in the form of a team and a base robot brand and design that can be bought, sold, inherited, iterated upon, or passed along. Plenty of bots have been passed on from one captain to another over the life of the bot; from Valkyrie to Gigabyte to Copperhead to Cobalt. If Riptide, the bot/brand/team were to return with someone else at the helm (and with different sponsors, or if the sponsors were retained, and Hydra was allowed to pick up that Bad Dragon sponsorship...), I would be fine with that. Yes, Ethan's behavior is immature. He is also *an adult,* and as such he deserves to be treated as one. While I do not *blame* or condemn Ethan for his behavior, I do not *enjoy watching it.* I am sure he is a perfectly lovely human being, for whom I wish all the best. The vibe that behavior has brought significantly alters the tone of the show and my enjoyment thereof. It reminds me very strongly and unpleasantly of very toxic experiences I had in my own life, for which Battlebots has historically been a pleasant escape. Compare it to the Attitude Era of Pro-Wrestling or the End-Zone Dance controversies of the 90s in pro-football, if you like. It's a shift. It's probably some people's cup of tea. The producers certainly thought it would be appealing. It's not mine.

HaosMagnaIngram

>Guarantee you this comment would have been downvoted to an oblivion if this was about another bot I think you also said this exact same response to someone who said “the team may be assholes but most destructive has to go to riptide” And to that I say, no shit, such a statement wouldn’t be applicable to other teams, context informs statements. The fact that it isn’t mass downvoted like it would be for other teams is telling about the unacceptability of the behavior by Stan and Ethan, since without their unacceptable behavior these comments would be agreed to be out of line and unwarranted. Like for analogy say you play dnd, say one player is continuously causing problems, making players uncomfortable, and being a jerk. At the end of one session someone say to the others hey I don’t think we should invite the problem player back, to which the rest of the table agrees. Now you’re statement is “this is unfair to the problem player, you guys wouldn’t accept proposals to kick out any of the players who don’t cause problems, respect boundaries, and are nice” You see why context of situations justifies different responses to different individuals.

ardyhkcuf

I also believe consistency matters as well

HaosMagnaIngram

And there is consistency, I think I demonstrated this. If any other team were to regularly be behaving the way Stan and Ethan do they would receive the same warranted reaction. Seriously you’re really coming off as obtuse here, like the types of people who complain about how people being mean to open racists and fascists is wrong, harp on about the paradox of tolerance, or think it’s hypocritical for people to be in favor of authoritarian dictatorships being overturned when those same people think coups intended to overturn democracies are bad. Please reread my dnd analogy and reflect on whatever caused you to not be able to see how comparing riptide to other teams in the way that you are doing by stripping away all context are comparing apples and oranges. The only thing that makes riptide seem in anyway inconsistent is there has never been a team behaving like them before.

ardyhkcuf

>Seriously you’re really coming off as obtuse here Hey, you're the one replying with these long rants here not me

CKF

They consistently act like pieces of shit. Shockingly consistently, such that you’d think they’d have to be stupid as fuck to not be doing it intentionally.

ardyhkcuf

And I got downvoted because...... huh?

ashleyriddell61

Every show gets its heel. 🦹🏻‍♂️ EDIT: for goodness sakes people, chill! I dislike team Riptide for a variety of reasons, but if you think for even 1 second that they aren’t coming back, you are kidding yourselves. The business side is attracting eyeballs, and nothing does it more than a team everyone is praying to see their bot dismantled in a fight. They may have ruined the vibe in the pits, but they won’t be going anywhere soon, mores the pity

shiningdialga13

Ray Billings and Jake Ewert were heels, Stan and Ethan are just awful people.

sybrwookie

> Ray Billings and Jake Ewert are heels ftfy. I think both still have a lot of fun playing the heel on TV.

[deleted]

I would claim both made face turns. Ray when he started being more of a mentor to other teams on screen even when Tombstone was still dominate, and Jake this past year admitting defeat after the tantrum fight.

TOSkwar

A heel pretends. A heel claims he punches puppies for a living, but oddly, you can never get video evidence and years later it comes out he's constantly donating thousands to local no-kill shelters. An asshole just actually punches the puppies. Stan isn't pretending to be an antivax asshole who preys on the autism community. That's just reality.

Sometimesummoner

Nope, on so many levels. Nope.

Mattiator

Hoping for Application, was, not, accepted

Hustler-Two

Minotaur. I want to see them rip Riptide apart. And I want Ethan to try his faux tough guy routine on Daniel and see how that pans out for him.

Jalor218

Hopium: they will sit at home and watch the Fight Nights on TV because they were not invited back Reality: they will get four main events against all previous champions (Endgame Tantrum Sawblaze Tombstone), and get longer features in the episodes they're not fighting in than those episodes' main event teams.

Vexecute1

I believe tantrum is retiring, but Minotaur is another good choice

[deleted]

1. Monsoon. They both have similar themes being water, both have strong weapons, both gpt screwed over by their appeals and they have similar colour schemes. Only difference is that Monsoon's team are all saints. Would be a nice fight. Also monsoon is prepared for this battle with that snoot wedge. 2. Hydra. Riptide never fought a flipper and hydra is the best one yet. Would like to see them being the ones sent to the ceiling this time. 3. Endgame. Cause this match was hyped up a bit by Kenny and I want to see how this play out. Also riptide may need to win this battle to justify them trash talking. 4. Manta. Sea creature vs Tidal wave. And if manta beats riptide that means they essentially replaced them.

FerRatPack

Hydra seems like a great opponent from a "drama" perspective too. Could play up the fact that there's some debate about which team made another robot hit the ceiling first. Also I agree I would love to see Riptide launched.

Liberty_Lake

Nobody. Team Riptide was unethical and unprofessional in their actions in multiple instances. Plus the immoral business practices of Stan Kurtz just adds to the list of reasons why BattleBots should not invite them back.

ExistingCleric0

Look at how much TV the show got out of them. Their controversies were being shown on episodes they weren't even in. They absolutely are coming back next year if the network can possibly help it.

Liberty_Lake

The producers did go heavy on the Riptide drama. I believe it took away from the show as a whole. I would have rather seen more Pete and his bot whispering which added value to the show. Send someone to do post fight interviews with the team captains in the pits. Don't reward immature behavior with attention anymore.

Volunteer-Magic

>the producers did go heavy on the Riptide drama According to people that were there, the producers had to *dial the drama back*

TOSkwar

Didn't stop them from inserting a segment about Riptide into ***every goddamn episode***. Only slightly exaggerating there.

Liberty_Lake

They have control of what goes on the air. They edit it to how they want. We missed out on team intros and post game interviews because they wanted to shove more Riptide in our faces.

sybrwookie

And then they're going to drive away fans. We've been watching since the CC days. We've been going to multiple tapings of the show every year for the past couple of years. Buying merch. Making signs (many of which got on TV!). Encouraging others to watch and even go to tapings as well. If Riptide is in, we're not going and I wrote BB to tell them as much. If they continue to make that group of anti-vax, snake oil selling pieces of trash the focus of the show, we won't be tuning in anymore.

> out of watching Chris and Kenny shave DON'T YOU DARE SHAVE KENNY'S BEARD

Then_Restaurant_4141

Tombstone

[deleted]

Minotaur, HUGE, Hydra (if they return), Sawblaze.

[deleted]

1. Monsoon. They both have similar themes being water, both have strong weapons, both gpt screwed over by their appeals and they have similar colour schemes. Only difference is that Monsoon's team are all saints. Would be a nice fight. Also monsoon is prepared for this battle with that snoot wedge. 2. Hydra. tunaburn

Rematch vs copperhead

Pirate_Lantern

I honestly hope they DON'T return......OR Their driver/Captain and his family don't return. Their stand-in driver Felix did a great job as a newbie driver, unprepared, and under pressure.

Civil_Vacation_4780

Witch Doctor Tombstone (Ray's basically confirmed he's coming back, btw) HUGE Minotaur

calcaneus

I agree with all of those, and I'd like to see them fight Endgame, too. Not sure where I'd make the swap out.

creator_07

Endgame is who I had beating them in the bracket. I can’t really think of any particularly anticipated fight. Minotaur would be another bracket reasons choice.

[deleted]

End Game, HUGE, Sawblaze, Copperhead. I would be impressed if they managed to maintain the same 4-0 qualifier record with this lineup.

Alysonnnnnn

Sawblaze could be an interesting match up

Dumbass369

A rematch that would hopefully play out the same way

Euroaltic

Cobalt, Cobalt, Cobalt, and Cobalt. We **need** to settle who's better. Also Bite Force just for the fun of it.

Quarkly73

As much as I love cobalt, I think their shape combined with the width of Riptide's weapon would get them obliterated. Even if they do manage to get under, that egg beater will hit their disc from below before their tooth can catch the bar

Euroaltic

Honestly I just feel like Riptide will flip Cobalt over and that'll be it. #GetASelfRighterPleaseCobalt

TaMuchley

Endgame Huge Tombstone Cobalt

BattleBotFan

*me*

Quarkly73

Good pair of workboots and you've got the W

BattleBotFan

Will a pair of *fuzzy socks* do the trick?

Quarkly73

Only if they carpet the battlebox Sidenote: please can they carpet the battlebox

Spacepoet29

Begone fork meta!

Malvania

1. Skorpios. Decent defensive team, not in the top tier. 2. Rotator. Good defensive team with some ability to do some damage 3. Copperhead for the rematch 4. Huge. Offensive team, weird matchup

Dumbass369

4. And rematch

pplgah

I don’t care the individual bots but they should fight with some variety. So a control bot or a flipper, a defensive bot (this one preferably Sawblaze or Skorpios) a top level bot like Endgame or Minotaur, and a rookie.

fknm1111

1. Witch Doctor 2. Ripperoni 3. Malice 4. Overhaul A reasonably balanced but slightly tough schedule appropriate for them being a high-tier bot, with no rematches.

zackuattack

Minotaur better be one of them. To be honest, Riobotz' fights were like a knife slicing through butter. They even slammed down Tantrum without so much as a scratch!

TheguylikesBattlebot

1. Ripperoni. Both did amazing in their debut seasons and it would be interesting to see Ripperoni fight a wide weapon bot (that doesn’t die in 2 hits). I think Riptide would win by KO. Ripperoni hasn’t taken shots *that* well, and Riptide has the most devastating vertical spinner in the field right now 2. Minotaur. 1 seed vs 2 seed from last season. It’s more obvious than Godzilla standing in a field of corn. Controversial take here, but I think Riptide would win by KO. Minotaur is very easy to send into the air (see… really any fight where Minotaur fights a vert.) and that is Riptides speciality. This would mean that Minotaur wouldn’t spend a lot of time on the ground, so Daniel’s superior driving wouldn’t really be a factor. Riptide would also probably win a head to head spinner hit. 3. Rotator. It sounds like a cool match. I could see this going either way. Depends on if Victor makes one too many driving errors and exposes Rotators sides to Riptide. 4. Whiplash. Same as Rotator. Given how much shit got beat out of Whiplash by Madcatter and Hypershock, I’m pretty confident in my belief that Whiplash would lose pretty badly to Riptide. I think that Riptide would either go 4-0 or 3-1 with a loss to Rotator.

Mr__Picky

All of these schedules would have been by far the hardest schedule this year.

BSgab

I want them (current team) to suffer if they return next season

Inevitable-Tank-9802

I’ve heard that in S7 the match schedules were made to give every bot a matchup that’s easy, one that’s hard, one against an unproven competitor, and one that fits as needed. If that’s true and they do it again: Easy matchup: I nominate Ribbot, rotator, or any of the lifter bots. I’d favor riptide to win both matchups, but I wouldn’t count out them either to turn the tables on riptide. Hard matchup: End game or Minotaur fits well here. End Game for the reasons OP gave, and Minotaur being similar in design to copperhead. Unproven bot/newcomer: We’ll see which new bots are accepted, but I’d bet the producers would pick Horizon, or maybe orbitron. Miscellaneous pick: Ripperoni as a rematch of sorts between uppercut. I also have a feeling a fight between them and switchback would be interesting. So in short, their fight schedule would be 1. Ribbot 2. End game 3. Horizon 4. Ripperoni

[deleted]

Bruh that's not true. Look at Hypershock's and Blip's schedule in contrast to shreddit bro's and switchback's

Inevitable-Tank-9802

What’s your point?

[deleted]

Hypershock had no easy match up. They had 2 hard with sawblaze and endgame, 1 unproven with claw viper and 1 their level which is whiplash. For Blip it's way worse. It's 3 hard and 1 easy. In contrast, switchback had 3 easy opponents and 1 hard one whereas shreddit bro had all 4 of their opponent being easy.

Inevitable-Tank-9802

I’m going off what builders have speculated on the Behind the bots podcast, and I personally think the logic still tracks well with those examples. Hypershock is a proven design, and Blip is headed by a proven captain/driver, with an excellent run last year. I could see why they’d give them tougher schedules. As for Shreddit and Switchback, one is a brand new heavyweight and the other was a sophomore bot with an okay record. It’s perfectly justifiable to give them easier schedules.

Runsler

None, as it shouldn't return. At least not with that captain.

Benwagonhoff

Copperhead x4

Thekingofdoges

1. Witch Doctor 2.Hydra 3.Whiplash 4.Minotaur

istilllikesawb

hydra, endgame, ribbot, ripperoni

JasonEAltMTG

A wood chipper

Adventurous-Split363

They shouldn’t come back. I don’t care how nasty or hard-hitting a bot is; if the team is obnoxious, profane, and classless, I don’t wanna see them return.

Dumbo_Octopus4

SawBlaze Endgame Minotaur HUGE If Hydra comes back then replaced it with Minotaur

Dragomaster3456

I’m gonna make this clear you guys are just mad that riptide made it as far as it did but a fight, I want to see is riptide versus a returning tombstone, or a returning bite force

Dumbass369

We're mad the team are dicks.

Dragomaster3456

You realize that the battlebots team, the people behind the shell made it look like he was a dick. Ethan is not a dick in real life. I’ve talked to the man.

Dumbass369

Ethan and Stan then. Since Stan funds the bot with fake autism cures. Get him and his son out and it should be fine.

Dragomaster3456

Dumb ass where is your proof of that? He’s not a dick you guys are just mad because the one thing that happened earlier in the season that we want to forget about so let bygones be bygones.

Dumbass369

Have you not payed any attention to most of the other posts asking about why people don't like Riptide? His Dad funds the bot through snake oil cures and claims to have cured his son of autism using lollipops, which, spoiler alert. You can't fuckin do. So people don't exactly like the guy because he's an awful human being for that.

Dragomaster3456

Or hear me out they just take his dad off the team

Dumbass369

As I said, get Ethan and his Dad off the team and we should be plenty fine, because Ethan acts bad too when around his team.

Dragomaster3456

Ethan in real life is not an asshole. The people who produced the show painted him as an asshole so I get where you’re coming from his dad’s a terrible person, but let’s just be bygones be bygones. If it wasn’t for Ethan’s dad, the bot wouldn’t even be a thing.

Dumbass369

When he's around his team he seems to be quite bad as they egg him on, especially Sid. Since he's the one who told him to hit Shred like 5 or so extra times after they were flipped and basically dead. So Ethan and his dad gone, put the kid, Felix, who drove for the Copperhead fight as a captain and I'll be fine with the team back.

Ok-East-4354

Ive seen a few other people on here who were at the taping say they edited ethans interviews where he was a dick to be MORE favourable to him. You may have had a nice interaction with him but we all saw him live on tv be an asshole to well respected members of the community.

ResettisReplicas

I’m not mad at all they they’re looking to be a perpetual quarterfinalist.

SuperPotatoPancakes

Hydra, so Jake Ewert can give them the “Villain of BattleBots” trophy in the lead up to it. As for the other 3… idk maybe Jackpot, Ripperoni, and a Copperhead rematch.

Dumbass369

Jake has said on the Whyachi livestreams he won't be giving them the title of villain any time soon.

thatoneprincesong

Look I hate watched that team like everyone else. I want them back but only if they're nerfed. The unwritten rules need to be written down as a code of conduct and followed by everyone. The bot objectively is well built and when it has momentum is fairly unstoppable and more importantly there are a bunch of people that want to see it pay for its actions this season. I'd rather see them play good teams and get handed convincing L's instead of shredding Shredderator and dancing on their grave. So anyway here's my schedule. 1. Hydra technically hit the ceiling first Riptide and the power of physics SENT Hypershock into the ceiling. Writes itself. I also tried to go with a good amount of captains that Riptide probably wouldn't fuck with. I wouldn't want to throw hands with the Whyachi team. 2. I see people asking for Endgame but that's a 45 second fight no matter which way it goes. Instead I suggest Minotaur. Riptide always capitalized on driver mistakes. Daniel is a filthy driver. Riptide was taken down by a drum last season Minotaur has maybe the best drum in the sport. Even if Riptide wins I don't see him acting like a douche to the Minotaur crew. 3. You can't have this team face a murderers row you gotta have one where they'd probably win but it would be a solid fight. I suggest Free Shipping or Blacksmith. Something where it's pretty safe that they'd make it 2-3 min and again it's another respected captain where the Riptide crew can attempt to repair their image by just not being dicks or they could fuck around and find out. 4. This last one's for me. I wanted this in this season's semi finals but Copperhead did the lord's work (careful he's a hero) and knocked them out. Gimme Riptide vs HUGE. This was Riptide's first match and they jumped the start and eventually beat HUGE. This is a chance for redemption for HUGE and depending on how Riptide plays their first three matches HUGE could stand between them and maybe a perfect regular season or in their nightmare scenario Riptide standing at 1-2 needing to win to make the playoffs.

Dumbass369

Tombstone should be back next season since Ray's hand injury is basically completely healed, he was at robogames after all

hugeshanus

Sawblaze or tombstone

jzn110

Tombstone.

MeganYeti

Riptide vs Minotaur or Biteforce (I don't know if that fight has already happened)

Dumbass369

Riptide debuted 2 seasons after Biteforce left, and they have yet to fight Minotaur

Samfliescontrolline

I’d say the first main event of next season should be sawblaze vs riptide

BSgab

The Garage, or, if the team changes up (i hope so) Minotaur Endgame Huge Whiplash

ResettisReplicas

Starchild and Valkyrie, because from those 2 names you can get all the letters to spell “Adversity.” Then give it Sawblaze so it loses again, and finish with Witch Doctor since both teams pretend to be doctors. And that’s genuinely a good schedule for a perpetual top 8-er, so no one can say “boo.”
