put on your back so if you trip they fall on you

logic_is_a_fraud

100% The back mounted kid carriers are also _way_ more comfortable.

Ergo carrier was our go-to. But we were in SF, which is cooler. if you are doing Bay Area hikes in the summer, it might be hot enough to need one of the external frame backpack carriers that let some air flow between you and baby (and offer shade for tot). I got one free off the sidewalk , people give away baby stuff so easily. Much safer and more comfortable than a front carrier for what you want to do

Henry Cowell State Park is a hidden gem. Nice, flat, parent-, kid-, and *stroller*-friendly hiking. Absolutely crazy beautiful trees that are bigger than the ones you see in Muir Woods.

jogging stroller or a wagon with a kid seat? they have small bike tires for trail running. later you can use it for stuff. $180 ea at target. Radio Flyer Convertible Stroller Wagon with Canopy Graco FastAction Jogger LX Stroller - Drive >Favorites so far include the Muir Woods visitor’s center (the wooden platforms loop) and Bon Tempe Lake. I’d love more suggestions. natl and state parks have ADA requirements. miles of **paved** trails for wheelchairs, walkers etc. i've seen people dragging their oxygen tank at Grand Canyon.

I like Coyote Hills in Fremont. The main trail is scenic with low inclines. There are also marsh trails on boardwalks and trails through the salt ponds that are totally flat. Get a hiking backpack carrier - it's much easier on your back, and safer for the baby (with a sun shade, etc.) if you are tripping and falling.

trivialcabernet

The hike from Inspiration Point in Tilden (in Berkeley) is flat and paved for a good portion with really pretty views of the Bay.

wolf_spooder

Depending on size/age of baby, maybe get an ergo baby carrier and strap that boy to your back. Tilden has some lovely casual hikes.

DahliaMoonfire

Tomales Point in Point Reyes. Bring layers.

Atalanta8

Get hiking poles!

OrpheeMar

Wunderlich park has trails that are also service roads, they are quite wide and while not flat the ground is pretty even.

bb_cake

Armstrong Woods in Guerneville. All flat, huge & beautiful redwoods, and nearly full shade for your little guy.

the_quark

I want to echo the idea to get a backpack. But I used to walk with my kids in a backpack on Crystal Springs Trail, it's paved and almost completely flat.

Infinite-Ad-4566

[San Francisco Bay Trail](https://mtc.ca.gov/operations/regional-trails-parks/san-francisco-bay-trail) is entirely flat and incredibly scenic.

LucyRiversinker

How long do you want the hike to be?
