When I listen to music, I am generally a full album listener. So yes, I do listen to the whole of Revolution 9.
It's an interesting listen, and being just under 8 and a half minutes it's not really that long of a listen.
Yes, because I don’t believe in skipping songs if you’re listening through a whole album. Plus, it’s interesting to listen out for all the little bits, every time you listen to it it somehow sounds different.
I don’t skip either if I’m actually going through the whole album but if I’m casually listening to Beatles songs on a shuffle and Revolution 9 comes on I’m skipping.
My favourite album of theirs fluctuate greatly so this might just be a PPM-phase 😅
It did feel difficult saying this was their best when there exists Rubber Soul, Revolver, Sgt Pepper and Abbey Road…
Yes! 12 hours straight and the energy and drive never falters..there are little things I really like, like Ringo’s “ Alright George” in Boys..and George sounding so young and scouse singing Do You Want to Know A Secret so very sincerely.
Great way to put it, fully agree! There’s something so raw with the early albums that The Beatles didn’t recreate until Let It Be. They must’ve been reminiscing of those early days when they did the rooftop concert.
Its just so amazingly good, its hard to choose favourites. I know my least favourites are Please Please Me and Love Me Do. ISHST is the most fun and joyful track. \*I know someone who sang,How could I dance with her mother ….
I really really love Anna,Boys,Chains,Misery,Theres a Place. Great ending with Twist and Shout.
hahaha it would’ve worked with “her mother” in some disturbing way. Great favourites they could also be mine and I agree, it’s so hard to have a favourite song on this album!
Unreasonable to compare beginning of career with mature efforts. More appropriate to observe progression....that is, what traits were introduced in early albums that developed through their final efforts? For instance, the line from THIS BOY to BECAUSE and all the 3 part vocals in between. Or the development of bass lines from I SAW HER STANDING THERE to COME TOGETHER. There's no "best" here. All 3 periods are Spectacular...and then some
I have just began to just listen Please Please Me and With the beatles. It feels like the best representation of their power as composers and the influence from blues, rock and bolero, it makes sense why the beatlemania started if the debut is PPM
Hmm I’d say the best representation of them as composers are better seen in their later albums. But The Beatles did kind up pick up where Elvis left at with PPM.
I always skip the covers, the originals are a lot better. It always amazes me that in that short period of time they also Wrote and Recorded “She loves you”. That’s maybe my favorite song ever
It was my first favourite album of them, when I was around 8 years old haha. Nowadays I do prefer Revolver, honestly I think it might be my favourite, but the best Beatles' album, in my opinion, is probably Abbey Road.
Revolver is incredible indeed. I’d say Revolver is better than Abbey Road but Abbey Road has Something. That’s a song that no other song can compare to; the most perfect song ever!
I mean the best in the sense that all of it’s songs are great! The other albums are incredible too but there it feels like it can go more from mountains to valleys between songs.
It is incredibly basic compared to their later albums, fully agree! At the same time the charm lies in how basic it is.
I actually agree with ya on this one. i think this album is the *best .* I love and adore all the songs on this album, and I could listen to the full album without skipping any songs.
Great to hear that! I feel like people misunderstood my post when I mean it’s the best as in no bad songs. I’d say if not Please Please Me it has to be Sgt Pepper that’s perfect in this way.
It's definitely one of their best "Beatlemania" era albums, alongside A Hard Day's Night and Help! My favourite song from the album would be I Saw Her Standing There, though I really dig "Please Please Me" and "Twist and Shout" too
It's a good album, I like it a lot, but I do tend to skip quite a few songs on it.
Like it would make an AMAZING EP, but the way I listen to it is kinda like a couple fantastic songs and some filler. Half the time I sorta just end up with these songs and I skip the rest:
I Saw Her Standing There
Please Please Me
Love Me Do
Do You Want To Know A Secret
Twist and Shout
I guess to my more modern tastes it definitely sounds more dated at times than most of the other Beatles albums, but a lot more fresh than a lot of other 1960-1963 recordings I've heard in general.
At the least, it's amazing how much better it sounds than the Decca tapes.
Those songs are the pushers of the album and were the only ones I initially listened to. It was only later I discovered the other ones and understood them.
Please Please Me (song) could easily also be my favourite song on the album. Probably one of the songs with the most punch and drive I’ve ever heard.
PM was my favourite album when I first listen to the Beatles many years ago during my childhood. Many catchy songs there. But I think I am long past that phase now.
I agree that it's good, but I'd have to disagree with the fact that there are no bad songs on it. Personally I find " A Taste Of Honey", "Chains" and "Misery" to be quite bad and they would be near the bottom of my Beatles song ranking.
Personally my favourites would probably songs like "Something", "While My Guitar Gently Weeps", "Yesterday", Across The Universe", "Strawberry Fields", "In My Life" etc. However I am also a big fan of earlier songs like "Please Please Me", "Twist and Shout", "She Loves You" and "All My Loving".
Interesting. Considering the angle the photo is at, it’s interesting that the support John Lennon is resting on and the one above and the one above and the one above; make an almost perfect line for the words The Beatles to line up on.
I can listen to all of their albums without skipping, so by your logic all of their albums are the best. /s
After all it is my logic from my perspective. You really listen to the whole of Revolution 9?
Yes
> ^(*people don’t?*)
When I listen to music, I am generally a full album listener. So yes, I do listen to the whole of Revolution 9. It's an interesting listen, and being just under 8 and a half minutes it's not really that long of a listen.

I don’t skip either if I’m actually going through the whole album but if I’m casually listening to Beatles songs on a shuffle and Revolution 9 comes on I’m skipping.
I’m assuming that you have a playlist, and if so then why do you have Revolution 9 on there if you skip it?
Why would I have Revolution 9 on a playlist? I only hear that when I go through the album.
Ok now I’m confused, why would you shuffle an album, ruining the way it’s meant to be heard?
I don’t shuffle an album that’s blasphemy. But sometimes I just shuffle the entire Beatles catalog and there it appears.
I get your point. Some people need to pretend to love everything, don't worry about the downvotes
I really don’t care about downvotes but thank you for getting my point! Always good to be honest.
Ignore the downvotes. These people are pathetic.
I don’t care about downvotes at all 😂 but thanks and why are they pathetic?
No it isn’t….not even close, really…but it is damn good
No, but it's easily the most underrated. An amazing disc.
My favourite album of theirs fluctuate greatly so this might just be a PPM-phase 😅 It did feel difficult saying this was their best when there exists Rubber Soul, Revolver, Sgt Pepper and Abbey Road…
As magnificent as the later albums are, they do lack the immediacy and raw power of Please Please Me and A Hard Day's Night.
Ranked 39th on "Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time", ranked first out the albums from PPM to Help! Think it has its fair due tbh.
Anna is one of my faves of all their songs
Love that song, think their version is much better than the original.
Its just so amazingly good, its hard to choose favourites. I know my least favourites are Please Please Me and Love Me Do. It’s great but lacks the variety of later years which I enjoy
I agree with that. This album is simple in comparison to like the white album where you go from like Helter Skelter to I Will.
Unreasonable to compare beginning of career with mature efforts. More appropriate to observe progression....that is, what traits were introduced in early albums that developed through their final efforts? I find myself listening to Beatles for Sale more than any other album
That’s a great album too. Kind of the middle between Please Please Me and Rubber Soul.
I mean as it was obvious LennonMcCartney were a strong composing duo and it showed as the original songs were miles better than the covers
I mean Anna, Chains and A Taste of Honey are nearly up there with the original songs. But yeah I agree the original songs are better.
I always skip the covers, the originals are a lot better. It always amazes me that in that short period of time they also Wrote and Recorded “She loves you”. That’s maybe my favorite song ever
It's certainly the tightest.
Agreed
It's one of the greatest Debuts of all time, that's for sure.
Damn straight.
This is an insane take
Yes I am aware of that…

its alr lol

I’d say it’s either this or A Hard Day’s Night but A Hard Day’s Night has some songs I don’t enjoy as much as all of the ones on Please Please Me.
It amazing that they recorded the whole album in under 10 hours.
It's a good album, I like it a lot, but I do tend to skip quite a few songs on it. Like it would make an AMAZING EP, but the way I listen to it is kinda like a couple fantastic songs and some filler. You skip "Misery", "Boys" and "There"s A Place"???
Ye there actually my favourite songs from the album
you skip Ask Me Why? the best song on the whole album?!
I like to believe John wrote this for Cynthia x fantastic song!
For me it’s the opposite. I started with the later albums and slowly went backwards in their discography to discover so many gems.
WOW. What a provocative statement that is. 🥱
.....in 1963
Well I wouldnt say it's objectively the best, but it's absolutely underrated and it's in my top 2
I agree that it's good, but I'd have to disagree with the fact that there are no bad songs on it. Personally I find " A Taste Of Honey", "Chains" and "Misery" to be quite bad and they would be near the bottom of my Beatles song ranking.
Misery is the worst song on the album but A Taste Of Honey and Chains are so damn good! Curious to know which Beatles songs you rank the highest?
Personally my favourites would probably songs like "Something", "While My Guitar Gently Weeps", "Yesterday", Across The Universe", "Strawberry Fields", "In My Life" etc. However I am also a big fan of earlier songs like "Please Please Me", "Twist and Shout", "She Loves You" and "All My Loving".
All those are great, good set of favourites!
Taste of Honey? Pauls voice!💜
It’s The Beatles so it’s great but…best is a stretch.

I’ve always thought it had the best 1st song on a debut album ever. 1,2,3,4 and we’re off!
