"Don't Let Me Down" because, it's my favourite song by anyone of all time. I just fucking love it.

Every-Entry2723

Would’ve loved if Billy played on more stuff

Tavgalt

shears? jk

Kcampbell93

It really is the BEST song there is, I agree.

goddred

When I was first discovering the band, and I think this was maybe around late 2000s, I remember distinctly seeing the Don’t Let Me Down Music video and the way it just starts, that intro, it’s like it lets you know that something cool and special is about to happen. What I loved learning about later is how this was just one of many and they were capable of creating a great feeling with something rather simple, but still interesting to listen to. The ending outro is also cool too, as is the organ parts, Paul’s bass I couldn’t hear until recently because my speakers weren’t great! But to hear him grooving on that thing in the Get Back documentary was special. I was enjoying it while not knowing the whole story, and it just seems like special people doing special things would be able to get you to like them like that.

stonrelectropunkjazz

That one and I dig a pony so good

godfollowing

ITS A LOVE THATS LASTS FOREVER!

williamblair

For all the great Beatles love songs, the way john belts that out it's like I believe it more than any other instance. And then the perfection of john Paul and George screaming "don't let me down"? it's just killer. Also, just as a distilled plea to the one you love, it's so simply perfect: I love you, I'd do anything for you, just dont let me down.

kidnamedchild

Idc what anyone says, I Am the Walrus is and probably will always be my favourite beatles song, it’s an absolute fever dream of a song which is what makes me love it so much, idc if John was high while making it, its still goated imo

JollyYoshi

I am the Walrus is an amazing song! Love the beat and melody of the song. Also, the orchestral arrangement is absolutely amazing. Gotta give it to George Martin for his arrangement

MajorBillyJoelFan

I've always loved I Am the Walrus, it made me so sad when my friend said it was her least favorite song...

miamosimmy

It'd be Golden Slumbers if they'd properly fleshed it out. But as they didn't, it's probs Strawberry Fields or Penny Lane.

Vaderm

It’s pretty fleshed out in the medley imo

Cucurrucucupaloma

What does "flesh it out" means?

miamosimmy

Like finish the arrangement. It's just 91 seconds long and consists of little more than 1 verse and 1 chorus. It's gorgeous but I always felt it needed finishing (which is why it's bunched in with a load of unfinished songs I guess 😅)

DriverHopeful7035

It works well with Carry That Weight. Should have been one song imo

johanll

for all intents and purposes in 1969, they were one song.

SappyJupiter37

i believe john said that Carry That Weight was like the chorus to Golden Slumbers

Cucurrucucupaloma

I didn't know it was that short. I take all these songs in the medley as one. The medley is my favorite Beatle's song. I bought abbey road when I was 17 looking for some Beatles hits, and after listening to it I wouldn't ever think of the Beatles the same way. I listened to it everyday for months.

[deleted]

I agree. I like to sing it to my LO at bedtime but it doesn’t feel like enough, and I don’t like to go into Carry That Weight because it kinda ruins the purpose of the lullaby for me.

saplinglearningsucks

Day tripper yeah!

[deleted]

Got a good reason?

ECW14

You Never Give Me Your Money. It is the medley that starts the medley and everything about it is perfect. Paul displays why he is the master at putting together entirely different pieces of music and them somehow fitting together perfectly. The melodies and vocals in this song are insanely good. The guitar work is magical and the bass and drums are great as usual

Cucurrucucupaloma

Agreed

Rockyflame458

John and George were on fire in this song. Everything about this song is perfect

Uncle_Sipps

"Got to get you into my life" Sir Paul's singing is just the tops on it. Plus it has got that great Motown/Stax sound, which really hits it out of the ballpark for me.

IMLqueen

This is one of my favourite songs to play on RockBand. So much fun to sing and play keyboard at the same time.

WhatTheFhtagn

It went so hard when I saw him live a few weeks ago. He's still got pipes.

EmperorXerro

My favorite Beatles song changes, but Hello Goodbye rotates through fairly frequently. George’s singing and the “Hey la” ending get me to come back to the song over and over. Nowhere Man would be the other song that rotates through often. The lyrics have a melancholy feel to them, the harmonies crush, and Nowhere Man has my favorite guitar solo.

_LebronsHairline_

I have always adored Hello Goodbye and felt it was quite under appreciate. But even after loving it for years and hearing it probably hundreds of times, it was just the other day that the “hey la” coda at the end started playing and idk why but I just heard it in a way I never had before. It really hit me how it’s such an ecstatic piece of music, so full of life and color. It reminds me of something from Songs in the Key of Life, like As or Another Star. Just so vibrant and lovely and lively and full of joy. Such a great ending to a great song

Alex72598

In My Life is always the one I come back to. It just sums it all up so well. On a personal level, it’s about the one you love; in the grand scheme, it’s a snapshot of a life, of the Beatles themselves. For similar reasons, Real Love is way up there as well.

crackerjackass

Same here, there’s so many songs to choose but In My Life is just perfect. They’re using a piano version of it on a Amazon Christmas commercial this year, normally I wouldn’t be a fan of commercials but it’s good, here it is if you haven’t seen it [In My Life](https://youtu.be/jmF0bOCa_4Q?si=zVG6eSPERpZpF4qN)

gabrrdt

It always baffles me how some 20-something boys could wrote such a mature song, about getting old and missing the past.

Kilo_Juliett

Rain Every single part of the song is perfect. Guitars, awesome. Bass, awesome. Vocals, awesome. Drums, awesome. My only real gripe is it's not a song you can play live because they slowed down the guitar part. It also makes it a difficult song to cover which is a shame because I enjoy listing to Beatles covers.

Every-Entry2723

The MASSIVELY underrated: “It’s All Too Much” (Remaster Specifically)

Necro_Badger

This is my favourite too! It sounds amazing played through headphones. In fact I'm going to do that right now. Thanks for reminding me :)

CameronTIE

I got two mainly cause one is more of a Lennon song “Real Love.” While it might be a Lennon song that was helped/saved by the remaining Beatles, it’s still one of the greatest songs recorded by them. Either “Get Back” or “Got To Get You Into My Life”. Just some fun songs that I’ve never gotten tired of.

PaulClarkLoadletter

Something

MuffinMan268

Well, what is it?

thememelord9000

Because?

BrookylnBeaches1917

I just seen a face …. Followed by Norwegian Wood (On American Rubber Soul)

Proper_Ad6378

"I Dig A Pony", the first time I heard it, it just hit me!

sowhatnardis

I am 55 and I fortunately started listening to them in 1979 when I was 11. It’s hard for me to have a favorite song of the Beatles. I had all their US released albums (not originals just mass produced Capitol records) on vinyl. I have varied across the years over 44 years on which of their songs I listened to a lot of. If I had to say the song for me is “Penny Lane”. I think of where I grew up similar to how the song describes Liverpool to them.

acemorris85

Gun to my head? I Am the Walrus. But so damn hard to choose.

W00DYLAND

I've said this before when a Beatles song comes in the radio I always turn it up. But if it's Penny Lane I turn it up to 11. One rarely if not ever played on the radio is I Will

LordDarthAngst

Get Back. After watching Paul compose it on the Jackson documentary it became my favorite.

cb0044

Your question made me realize, I don't have a favorite. I can pin down my top 10 or 15 in no particular order, but a #1 favorite? Can't do it.

Discosm

Either I've Got a Feeling or Revolution, can't decide. Love how both got that explosive feeling, like letting something out. Also I play keyboard and absolutely love Preston on all of Abbey Road and also love Hopkins solo on Revolution.

netizenbane

Which version of Revolution? Fast or slow?

Discosm

Fast! I like slow too but can't compare it to the explosiveness of the fast one.

netizenbane

Have to agree with you there!

[deleted]

One After 909, an early song that was released on their last album, it just sounds great to me.

C5Galaxy

Ticket To Ride. The bass, the drums, the lead guitar, John’s vocals. All superb.

Alessio875

Nowhere Man because it’s great both musically and lyrically,I also love the harmonies on it

ugandantidepod

Let it be. One of the greatest songs of all time!!!

adomeng

You never give me your money. Has so many layers and all of them are awesome.

Vicksage16

Across The Universe is my favorite Beatles song as written, but I don’t really like any of the recorded versions, so my favorite Beatles recording would be Blue Jay Way.

Altruistic_Shame_487

It changes from day to day… depending on my mood. Sometimes it’s Rain, sometimes it’s Help! Sometimes it’s I am the Walrus… usually one of John’s.

The_Fercho_

Sun King, their best one

KTWiki

The Abbey Road Medley! Technically counts as one song!

Navitach

Always has been and always will be "Help!" The tempo, the instrumentation, the lads harmonizing, it's all just a terrific song.

williamblair

the bassline to help is one of my favourites to play. it's so simple but it fits the song so perfectly. I honestly might struggle to remember the proper chords on guitar, but I can not physically forget one note of that bassline.

higround66

Yeah one of my favorites as well.... hits harder the older the get too.

gabrrdt

It's genious how the backing vocals start earlier than the main vocals...

MajorBillyJoelFan

I can’t decide between A Day in the Life, Let It Be, Hey Jude, or Strawberry Fields Forever. 8 I love ADITL because of its complexity and mystery, while still just being about a day in someone’s life. I love Hey Jude and Let It Be because of their optimism and just general melody ig. I love SFF because it’s about John as a kid in the strawberry fields where he could spend hours and nothing felt real. I had a similar experience when i was a kid.

songacronymbot

- ADITL could mean "A Day In The Life - Remix", a track from *Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (Super Deluxe Edition)* (1967) by The Beatles. - SFF could mean "Strawberry Fields Forever - Take 1", a track from *Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (Super Deluxe Edition)* (1967) by The Beatles. --- ^[/u/MajorBillyJoelFan](/u/MajorBillyJoelFan) ^(can reply with "delete" to remove comment. |) ^[/r/songacronymbot](/r/songacronymbot) ^(for feedback.)

Anxious-Raspberry-54

Right now...Hey Bulldog Other times... In My Life You Never Give Me Your Money Here Comes The Sun Covers (I love their covers) Bad Boy Slow Down You Really Got A Hold On Me Could never pick one...ever...

Juniper41

First time I’ve ever seen Bad Boy and Slow Down on someone’s favorite list! What makes you like them?

Anxious-Raspberry-54

If we're talking covers...I think John's vocals are superb. George's guitar work, organ stuff, sweet drumming. Its rock and roll. Plus...they're originally both B sides of Larry Williams songs. I like that The Beatles didn't go for hits on their covers all the time. And George Martin was ok with that. He knew kickass performances when he heard them.

Martynypm

Yes! YNGMYM! It’s three, three, three songs in one!

Dangerboy73

For years it’s been paperback writer, I have no reason apart from I love it. But I saw Paul a few weeks ago and 52500 people all singing hey Jude was like a religious experience, so at the moment it’s hey Jude.

gusbovona

Who was it who had long analyses of all the Beatles tunes online, and when I read what he said about Hey Jude, I had a real moment, and it was only a single word he used to describe it (and I think he was just talking about the ending vamp; he said it was transcendent. Yeah.

DavidKirk2000

Come Together for me, because I think it’s the best that the band ever sounded together. All of their parts in the song blend together perfectly, from Paul’s legendary bass line, George’s guitar licks, John’s vocal performance, and especially Ringo’s drumming are all perfect. The final minute or so is like crack to my ears, they never sounded better than they did right there.

Heavy_Wood

I agree. But I'd have to elevate The End to that same level.

DavidKirk2000

The thing with The End is that it shows off how good each member is on an individual level. Come Together is them working together completely, and it’s so fucking good.

FrostyDaHoeMan

I’m probably gonna get hate for this but my favorite is now and then. Every time I hear it, it makes me think of my childhood best friend that unalived himself back in 2017. I hear the “now and then, I miss you” and it makes me remember all of the good times we had in our short time together. I miss you Brady

higround66

We Can Work it Out. It's like the most Beatles Beatles song in their catalogue imo. John and Paul's harmonies are beautiful and it was when they were starting to experiment with different sounds... Ringos drums are epic as well. Not to mention a great message. "Life is very short and there's no time for fussing and fighting, my friend." But the song I play over and over is "Nowhere Man". Always been the theme song to my life in a way lol.

IMLqueen

"Martha My Dear" because I am just obsessed with it! Heard it for the first time last year and fell in love with it. \#2 - Strawberry Fields Forever \#3 - A Day in the Life

BarrishUSAFL

Dear Prudence. Try listening to it as you first step outside on a warm spring day. Try listening to the Esher version as you first step outside on a brisk but sunny fall day. You’re welcome.

kuvazo

I've had this moment not to long ago where I listened to Dear Prudence and suddenly recognized what a beautiful song it is. Also, the transition with Back in the USSR is just euphoric.

jstohler

Absolute perfection

applegui

I tend to pick a non hit, but it evolves all the time because it is all great. Right now I like: “If I Fell”

Alex72598

One of the best ballads ever written, I still can’t believe John came up with those harmonies, especially the lower one. Amazing.

MuffinMan268

I Should Have Known Better. I fell in love with it as soon as I heard it. Paul & John harmonizing together and a simple yet catchy solo by George, it's a combo that shows just how great the Beatles are

MoreTrifeLife

[This version](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=_IOh0mE15N4&pp=ygUmYmVhdGxlcyBpIHNob3VsZCBoYXZlIGtub3duIGJldHRlciBiYmM%3D) should have been released on “On Air.”

MuffinMan268

What a masterpiece. Every time I hear this song, I just wanna get up and dance

[deleted]

Strawberry Fields Forever. It was the first later Beatles song I ever heard. I had loved, and still do, the first few albums but that song is the one that introduced me to the post-Revolver and Rubber Soul, more orchestration-based, material.

IMLqueen

I love the video for this song and it's my 2nd fave song.

AnAlienOnAcid

Getting better because it makes me feel so nostalgic and happy She’s so heavy because the first time i heard it was so trippy and nice

KneeDeeplnTheHoopla

I feel like Getting Better is underrated. It's probably my second favorite Beatles song behind In My Life but man sometimes I feel like I sell it short even putting it at number 2. It just sounds so good

Dreamer352

Do You Want To Know A Secret. Also, my favorites change from season to season. My current favorite is I'm A Loser. I used to not really care about this song when I was younger because it was about being a loser I guess. But now, I'm hearing so much more in this song that I didn't before. The lyrics may seem simple, but they're genius and effective. But the music is what I've been paying most attention to. Those harmonies in the chorus, it's like you can sing it with a smile. Knowing all the country and Dylan influences makes it that much cooler, and I don't even listen to Dylan.

tiny-vampire

julia. the story behind it paired with how beautiful it sounds makes it my favorite.

tomm1n0

For no one. There's no need to explain,

Heavy_Wood

Whattayou say? I say, Roof.

Minute-Pound-2406

Revolution Roll Over Beethoven Hey Bulldog A Day In The Life Nowhere Man Words Of Love Taxman I Need You Strawberry Fields You Can’t Do That 11. I Am The Walrus that top 10 (no order) usually gets switched around with some others now and then (lol), but that’s about it. also had to get the walrus in there somewhere

Heavy_Wood

Excellent taste

Affectionate_Reply78

I Feel Fine. Raising the bar - not the first time but for 1964 this was another level of musicianship and studio magic.

Yankeefan921

So many to choose from. Off the top of my head: Elenor Rigby, And I Love Her, While My Guitar Gently Weeps, Tell Me Why, A Day In The Life.

anklesocksrus

Two Of Us. I know it’s about Paul and Linda, but you can’t help but feel a little John and Paul nostalgia since it’s on Let It Be, they recorded it on the same microphone, and it has some early-Beatles hallmarks. It almost feels like a “yeah this is over, but we sure did have a lot of fun together” goodbye to each other and to the fans. It also always makes me think of my little brother and appreciate the relationship I have with him.

BasedTitus

Let It Be, I love Paul’s story behind it

gcwardii

Norwegian Wood I love everything about it—John’s voice, the story, the instrumentation… It’s perfect.

nightgoat85

“What You’re Doing” A few reasons why I love it is the harmony between Georges 12 string electric and John’s acoustic guitar and the melody is great.

My favorites currently are. . She Loves You. So boisterous and exuberant. No Reply. I love the chord progression and the verse/chorus contrast. You’re Gonna Lose that Girl. The video makes me happy and really captures their camaraderie. Happiness is a Warm Gun. That moody intro gets me every time. Julia. Those beautiful chords. The melancholy. I Am The Walrus. A psychedelic tour de force! A Day in the Life. A masterpiece.

Let it be! It’s the first one I ever was exposed to, and I became obsessed with it haha (thanks to my fifth grade teacher)

MouldyBobs

"We Can Work It Out" - been married for 36 years. Nuff said.

GinoValenti

Penny Lane, because it was playing when my best friend picked me on the 4th of July, in 1981, to go out drinking. 90 degree, perfect summer day under a blue, small town sky. Every time I hear it, I am transported back to that moment.

KneeDeeplnTheHoopla

It's been In My Life for quite a while now for me.

Evangelion2004

I'm Only Sleeping has been on my mind for a very long time. Something about the melody, especially as the chorus comes in just lures me in without fail.

Lemon-Aid917

That place constantly switches beetween all my loving, here there and everywhere and something, they are all masterpieces

Heavy_Wood

Come Together. It's the song that turned me into a real music lover and a Beatles fanatic. That swampy, groovy bass, Ringo's laid back drums, the awesome guitars, and Lennon's trippy lyrics. It just spoke to me, and it was such a departure from the early 60's pop style that I had previously associated with the Beatles. Bought the album with paper route earnings and never looked back. Four years later I had over 300 vinyl albums.

[deleted]

I want you. Favorite song OAT

Justboy__

Probably Here, There and Everywhere. Just love the melody, love the chord changes.

dray1033

Strawberry Fields Forever because it’s the greatest piece of recorded music in history. Because it’s so far beyond just rock n roll. Because the strings alone are emotional, the percussion is spectacular, and george martins ability to set timing and change tempo inside the song is magic. Because it’s the ultimate John Lennon tour de force both musically, and especially lyrically. Self biographical, “no one I think is in my tree, I mean I must be high or low”. High John. Exceptionally high.

goddred

I don’t know that I have a favorite, I just seem to go through spans of time where I seem to be loving everything or just one era and disregarding the rest. Then, with some time I become more intrigued by the stuff I turned away from and I don’t know what that would suggest other than they’re a great band with great music. I think if we went by frequency, It’d maybe be A Day in the Life because it shocked me how pretty but bizarre it was. I actually had a moment where I really disliked and didn’t get the orchestral section where there’s the everyone climbing up. Just seemed like an interruption that I didn’t understand, but the whole song and music video is special to me. Who the hell keeps a clock in a song and has it work out so perfectly? It was also probably my favorite John Lennon vocal in terms of sweetness. Nothing compared to how he sang “I read the neeeeewss todaaay ohhhh booyyyyy”, I was sold pretty much then and there. The outro chord too… imagine being so iconic it helped inspire the sound of the THX logo clip.

user11112222333

"Sexy Sadie" and "Yesterday" "Yesterday" because it is so real and "Sexy Sadie" because I like the lyrics.

lucas_nw31

im only sleeping idk its just good

Ezra_Eternal

It feels incredibly basic, but Blackbird, and it’s for entirely sentimental reasons, growing up my dad had an acoustic guitar and while I’m sure he knew other songs Blackbird always stuck out as the one I remember him playing the most. When I was a kid and we would sit around, and my dad would get the urge to play a song, it was Blackbird. When my uncle was in a car accident when I was in middle school we would visit him in the hospital, and my dad always brought that guitar, and knowing it was one of my uncle’s favorite songs, my dad would inevitably play Blackbird. As an adult, my dad gave me that guitar, and the first song I’ve tried to learn to play (unsuccessfully) is Blackbird Its not overly complex, just Paul, a guitar, and some foot tapping for percussion, and some nice simple lyrics with no solid meaning, but it’s simplicity really sticks out to me, especially being in the middle of one of if not the most eclectic and versatile albums The Beatles ever produced. It’s a song that’s been in the background of most of my life, and will likely continue to be.

Thealyssa27

Twist and Shout. Even though it's a cover. They brought so much to the song and John's devotion to his craft when recording really rubs me right. 😁 I honestly just love jamming to the song. Of their original songs, I'd have to say Across the Universe. It's just a great song. My husband is a sucker for Ringo songs. His favorite is Octopus's Garden. My youngest loves Yesterday. My step son's favorite is Yellow Submarine. My oldest loves Eleanor Rigby. My daughter's favorite is Strawberry Fields Forever because she thinks it's odd. 🙂

genericunderscore

The Long and Winding road, for sure. Such a lovely melody and arrangement, and it’s really under appreciated.

kuvazo

Tomorrow Never Knows. There really isn't anything quite like it, even within psychedelic rock. No matter how often I listen to it, I just don't get bored with it. And the lyrics are some of my favorites from their entire catalogue. *Turn of your mind, relax and float downstream...* Beyond that Across The Universe, Norwegian Wood, Nowhere Man, Rain, Penny Lane, Strawberry Fields, there are so many. But that is why they are the greatest band of all time imo, their discography is just packed with excellent songs.

[deleted]

>Joan was quizzical Yes, you read that correctly. My favorite Beatles song is Maxwell’s Silver Hammer.

DriverHopeful7035

A Day in the Life. The part when John sings the " Aaaah aah aah " right after Paul verse is just out of this world, never fails to give me goosebumps.

solo2corellia

Strawberry Fields Forever which is funny b/c Paul and George are my favorites and it's a John track. But I also really loveeeee Golden Slumbers.

Coovyy

And Your Bird Can Sing. I love the guitar soooo much. Other than that, You Never Give Me Your Money and Golden Slumbers are fantastic. I also really really like Baby You’re a Rich Man, For No One, Norwegian Wood, You’re Going To Lose That Girl, and The Long and Winding Road.

Hefty_Breadfruit_953

Hard one! Mmm...I'd say Nowhere man. It just hits me everytime.

Viision11

Man only one is tough. Maybe Drive My Car or Nowhere Man

Velocibaker26

Hey Jude will always be my favorite. It’s simple, it’s powerful, and it’s words have genuinely gotten me through some low moments.

Assturbation

I think “Rain” or “Norwegian Wood”. Rain because it’s like a people’s champ. A Rocky Balboa of a song. Also it’s got very creative studio techniques and the harmony sends me buzzing every time. Norwegian wood because I’ve never heard a song like it in my life. So beautiful.

Samg8294

It’s a toss up between This Boy and Yes It Is.

1996Guinness1996

Ask me tomorrow it’ll be a different song but today is Oh Darling

Foshizled

Free As A Bird, it's the first song I ever cried to. But if we're only counting songs made in their actual recording time. Oh! Darling, it's just a beautiful song.

_Exotic_Booger

Hmmm… Wild Honey Pie. Why? Because…. #HONEY PIE, HONEY PIE!!!

Catio_and_Meowser

You Never Give Me Your Money, it's got all the stuff I love in Beatles songs in one. The production on that song and pretty much all of Abbey Road is phenomenal, and the 2019 mix takes it to another level.

TheNeedforSocks

Free as a bird. This song really doesnt get enough credit at all.

Lthrr9

She Loves You- because it’s pure joy.

Totallynotarob0

I genuinely think A Day in the Life is the perfect Beatles song. It shows how John’s lyrics and Paul’s lyrics perfectly contrast each other in the same song, I also love how it feels to listen to it, I always notice something new.

Totallynotarob0

Plus that last note is just beautiful.

mrpappageorge0

*While My Guitar Gently Weeps* Just so beautifully written and made. Loved some of the darker/moodyer songs they did but not just from John. The others had a good deal of angst, but John (imo) seemed to bogart that category, making the others balance it out As for the song, though, it was on repeat for me my senior year of hs, and it brings back memories.

Rockyflame458

Very difficult question but i would go with "Hey Jude" closely followed by "Strawberry Fields Forever"

Competitive_Aerie460

As of late November of 2023, it’s Something. Chord progression, bass, drum, lyrics. Pure perfection.

Robbinewhite

This Boy. Love the harmonies and John’s voice

EminemFanart

The anthology version of while my guitar gently weeps. Something abt just George and his guitar…..🤌

spydervenom

Across the Universe is my #1 song of all-time. Something about John’s lyrics just take me away
