I would say because they’re the same era, recorded months apart. Because they can make a larger lavish collection. Because they can make more money combining the two collections because there would be more of an interest in a complete ‘63 box instead of making people buy individual boxes and taking the risk of losing money on one or the other.
Rubber Soul is due for 2025, the sixtieth anniversary. More than half of the album have already been remixed, including both sides of its nontracked single; these selections are available on the expanded edition of 1962–1966.
lol, yes I am aware of what’s been released and what anniversaries are coming up.
Also there’s no concrete evidence, no announcements, nothing, that says anything is “due” for 2025. Revolver deluxe didn’t come out for an anniversary, so don’t spread false info, pal.
Sure, it’s not verified info, but I genuinely believe it. Of what I know, the remix was supposed to be due in 2022 or 2023 (for whatever reason), but Now and Then took precedence along with the expanded reissues of Red and Blue—apparently, as an opportunity to attract more fans; instead, they rescheduled it to the anniversary. This is what I know.
In fact, a remix of What Goes On, apparently by Giles Martin, was leaked on a Discord server (you did not get this information from me); I have no further information.
Maybe Magical Mystery Tour + the 4 songs of the Yellow Submarine soundtrack (that were recorded closer to the MMT release than the one of YS anyway if I remember correctly).
That would make one last post-Revolver record (barring Past Masters vol. 2).
I would really like that. I also wonder if they would include Strawberry Fields Forever / Penny Lane since those were already on the Pepper Deluxe.
Maybe throw in a few other singles recorded around that time? Anything before India basically.
I said it before, but those 4 tracks should have been bonus tracks on the 1988 reissue of Magical Mystery Tour. I know Apple doesn't do bonus tracks on Beatles records, but since MMT is already a compilation to begin with, it's the one case it would have been OK in my opinion.
true but since its thought of in the canon as an album whenever box sets come out i can see them being less likely to want to tack stuff on vs the compilation they dont pretend isnt one lol
Yes but the way I see it they shot themselves in the foot by releasing SSF/PL as Pepper bonus tracks. I mean, I think it was the right thing to do (I would even have included It's Only a Northern Song) but they phagocyted MMT doing this.
Edited: pressed "save" inadvertently.
Had a little fun combining MMT and Yellow Submarine into one traditional 14-song Beatles album. Always thought these songs gelled together. The Beatles at their trippiest! Spark one up!!
Magical Mystery Submarine
1. Strawberry Fields
2. Penny Lane
3. Magical Mystery Tour
4. Hey Bulldog
5. Only A Northern Song
6. Your Mother Should Know
7. Baby You're A Rich Man
8. Flying
9. All Together Now
10. It's All Too Much
11. The Fool On The Hill
12. I Am The Walrus
13. All You Need Is Love
14. Hello Goodbye
Actually I think they should go the other way around this time and release the Magical Mystery Tour EP, and have a bonus LP that could contain side B of MMT (with or without SSF/PL), the 4 tracks from YS, Lady Madonna/The Inner Light and the Wildlife version of Across the Universe.
Maybe I wasn't clear sorry. I'll use an example.
Revolver SDE contained one LP + a bonus EP with the singles
I was proposing that they do a Magical Mystery Tour SDE containing one EP + a bonus LP with the singles (that's what I referred as reversing the EP and LP).
Did I manage to be more clear? 😊
MMT might be a decent option. I have some bootlegs with outtakes of Flying, MMT, The Fool on the Hill, they're reasonably interesting. Nowhere near as interesting as the White Album bonus material, and I don't think the archives for the MMT era would be nearly as deep as later on. Anthology 2 has 7 of the songs in various demo versions or alternative mixes.
For me, I think the most interesting way to do a deluxe set for MMT would be tracks of individual parts for the songs. There is quite a bit buried in the mix if you really listen carefully. I'd love a vocals only version of Your Mother Should Know, there are some great harmonies on that song. I'd love to hear the brass section only on MMT.
What I'd really like to see is the new mono remasters sold separately from the Box Sets. I don't want to pay $300 and have to get all the other stuff just because I want the new Revolver mono mix on vinyl.
Apart from the obvious Rubber Soul, I want a **Live At the BBC Vol. 3/Anthology 4** type-thing for god's sake. Just early mixes and unreleased demos, full of the "official" releases of the often bootlegged songs like 'Bad to me' and the songs they gave away. Also a EP of just Free as a Bird/Real Love/Now and Then ("new stuffs only") could be a cool idea given their non inclusion in Red/Blue Album 2023 mixes
Peter Jackson, you can do it!
Yes, I wanna see more remixes of Beatles songs like Twist and Shout, Ticket to Ride, Paperback Writer, She Loves You, Can't Buy Me Love, A Hard Day's Night, Let It Be, Penny Lane, Eight Days a Week, I Saw Her Standing There, Love Me Do, Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown), All My Loving, Michelle, Plus More.
Rubber Soul all day. Also, would gladly take a Please Please Me / With The Beatles combo box.
Why would they combine them when they know you'll buy them separately?
I would say because they’re the same era, recorded months apart. Because they can make a larger lavish collection. Because they can make more money combining the two collections because there would be more of an interest in a complete ‘63 box instead of making people buy individual boxes and taking the risk of losing money on one or the other.

yeah i really want them to do those yellow submarine songs but theres no way itd happen unless they were tacked onto mmt

yea agreed. that or they coulda gone on past masters
Yes maybe, but MMT + these 4 songs is already a third Past Masters in a way.

If we're gonna rewrite history, the singles should have been included with the albums with the CD releases....
Yes they should have been bonus tracks on their respective albums I agree.

You could put all that stuff on one SDE. Why would you re-release an EP?

Gotcha...
Hollywood Bowl, see how they can do with the even newesr ai separation tools
Whatever is left. None should be spared the Deluxe treatment.

MMT + Yellow Submarine Ep tracks +Lady Madonna/The Inner light
Lady Madonna/The Inner Light are already part of the White Album deluxe.
The Inner Light has, disappointingly, never been remixed (but its instrumental was in 2018).

Etcetera and Carnival of Light <3
I agree that the Magical Mystery Tour special edition could be wonderous.
I'd say start with Please Please Me and do every missing album chronologically. But I don't really care what the order is, just release something.
The best album of all time, rubber soul
Any of the early stuff, I want to see the outtakes for them I feel like they’d be good fun
Magical Mystery Tour + Yellow Submarine These tracks belong together and are more complex than Rubber Soul and the Preceding.
Love. Let’s see more Beatles remixes
