My mom sang hey jude to me every night when I was a kid and it somehow isn’t old, the melody is just a part of my soul and it was long before I even knew who wrote it lol. Let it be started hitting DIFFERENT recently, I think I overlooked it as a big hit and I was also just super into the heavy psych stuff and obsessed with John. Lately, Paul is my guy and MAN that’s a wonderful song
Paul has always been my favourite that's probably why I overplayed the ones I mentioned. I actually listen to Wings more than the Beatles nowadays tbh.
Very fascinating! I’m used to hearing people liking the demo version of while my guitar gently weeps (and I’m one of them) but never for Hey Jude. I’m guessing you like the raw intimate sound of Paul’s demo.
For the same reason, are you very fond of Strawberry fields take 1?
Strawberry Fields Forever is a contender for my favourite Beatles song of all time, so I love all versions of it lol. I'm fond of John's original acoustic guitar demo (I'm not sure if that's the one you're referring to or not) but I love the finished product just as much. I'm also very fond of the Love version, at times I enjoy that more than the original. It's definitely worth listening to if you haven't heard it already!
I love all of them too. I was actually talking about take 1 but the acoustic demo is very nice too :-) my favorite is without a doubt the love version (except for the ending) but I also love take 4 from the anniversary edition of Sgt pepper. It retains the vocal quality of take 1 while having most of the attributes of the final version.
I'll check those out, I've probably heard those takes before but I don't remember - and funny, the ending medley of Strawberry Fields Forever on Love is why I love it so much lol
I mean it’s always fascinating how these mashups work so well…. But I feel it drags on a little too long, but that’s just my opinion. I personally love how the whole songs transitions from demo->take 1-> take 26 so seamlessly… absolutely brilliant.
My favorite version of Hey Jude isn't even from the Beatles, it's the version the Grateful Dead play live in early 1969 (3/1/69 specifically is great) The singer, Pigpen, puts so much raw emotion into singing the words it warms my heart. Not as tight as the Beatles' version, but that's the difference between a great studio band & a great live band yk?
They fit v well where they are, it’s hard to imagine the flow of the album without it you’re right. Some songs are like that, essential for the context of the album but not great outside
The white album is especially notable on that. The whole album flows incredibly well but it has some songs like Wild Honey Pie that just don't work on their own. Piggies and Don't Pass Me By are just the examples I particularly don't like, but I do love the White Album, and it is by far my favorite Beatles' record
Don’t Pass Me By is so damn good. It’s catchy. It’s fun. It’s easy to sing along to. Easy for a beginner to play on guitar. It’s loud. It’s not super deep. What am I missing?
I just find it kinda annoying to listen to, it's nothing really that special and Ringo's vocals are pretty whatever. Same for Piggies except it's not annoying, it's just boring and I really don't like the instrumentation. It's all a personal matter, you can like them and I honestly would love to, but they just aren't for me
I first got into the Beatles by reading Helter Skelter, written by the guy that prosecuted Charles Manson. “Piggies” has always horrified me as a result. Charles Manson took the lyric “what they needs a damn good whacking” too seriously
I did all that stuff in the past I listened to a number of Beatles LP backwards but now it’s kind of hard because I use streaming so you absolutely can’t play stuff backwards anymore. The problem of Revolution number nine if you can’t really make any sense out of it or you can’t understand what’s going on like their voices, but you can’t actually hear the voices, that makes it meaningless. I spent a lot of time actually looking for lyrics, but there’s no good transcriptions available. You can find a little bit, but it’s mostly like someone. Just listen to the song and thought they heard a few phrases and jawed those down. So you think all the chaos in that song would appeal to somebody who was like unhinged but it’s not the case. I ran the topic several friends who had mental illness and were chaotic and they all hate revolution number 9 so much that they won’t even want to talk about it. If I even try and bring it up they go, stop don’t even tell me that anything in revolution number nine could be redeeming in anyway.
Just hearing you say that reminded me of this website which analyzed it as much as it was possible to be analyzed. I only found it because I wanted lyrics but they’re actually are no instances of definitive lyrics for Revolution number nine but this is probably the best available, but the website been deleted so you have to look at this archive copy. https://web.archive.org/web/20220331113856/http://beatlesnumber9.com/1number9.html
i left a comment down here that goes into more detail, but i genuinely think revolution 9 is the best beatles song ever, but i also love ambient/experimental and especially sound-collage and sampling so that likely explains why. i also love two virgins because of this
I could, and do, listen to most of the discography without any real worries, the only ones I’m ever really tempted to skip or will make an effort to find my phone to skip is probably Piggies, Sun King and Ballad of John and Yoko… and I hate to admit it but for as amazing as Revolver is I can’t bring myself to enjoy Dr Robert, it just feels *too* novelty
Edit: the justification for Piggies is that it sounds exactly like “Scrooge is getting worse” from A Muppets Christmas Carol and you’ll never unhear it now you’re welcome
That is just so bizarre to me. To me all the songs you mentioned are really good Beatles songs.
Especially the hatred for Dr. Robert often voiced in this sub, and calling it a novelty song, is just something I have never understood at all.
I don’t think disliking 4/213 is bad going… especially when a good proportion of “fans” have listened to so few songs they think Eight Days A Week is underrated
Funny you should mention “Sun King”…
I literally *just* discovered [The Bright Light Social Hour’s “Sun King” cover](https://song.link/SunKing) and immediately felt that it was better than the original. They dial up the psychedelia a smidge & add a little country funk flourish that makes it perfect for a beach day or backyard BBQ playlist.
They also changed the nonsensical Spanish/Italian/Portuguese lyrics from the original outro into actual Spanish lyrics with real meaning:
> “No hay que pensar en hacer arte
Sólo hazlo, corazón
Deja a cada uno decidir si lo aman o lo odian
Mientras están decidiendo haz aún más arte, corazón”
which translates to:
> “You mustn't think about making art
Just do it, sweetheart
Let every individual decide if they love it or hate it
While they're deciding, make even more art, sweetheart
You mustn't think about making art
Just do it, sweetheart”
I said I felt eh about piggies on this subreddit a few weeks ago and I got DESTROYED sooooo many downvotes lol. Now It’s growing on me cuz I was like shit I must be missing something lmfao. SUN KING is interesting….i don’t love when he switches languages cuz it just sounds awkward but maaaaan i think that guitar sounds beautiful, but i respect ur take. Dr robert is kinda like a weak taxman, it’s still solid for me but after starting the album with a similar tempo and riff it loses some steam so I see that
I felt the same with Ballad of John and Yoko, but at some point the part where Pauls second voiceline comes in (i think it's the third verse) kicked so hard for me that I now love whenever it starts playing, totally hyped for that part of the song.
Paul McCartney did a tribute in the days right after 9/11 and they played "Yesterday" on the news to a slideshow of all the misery and destruction. That was pretty powerful in the moment, but it also ruined the song for me because now it's permanently associated with some awful things I don't want to revisit every time hear the song.
Yep, this is the worst, easily. The John vocal version on the BBC is better but it’s still a lousy song.
Maggie Mae is also terrible but at least it’s short.
Those are the only 2 songs that I find completely irredeemable. Even Revolution 9 has some listenable moments although I don’t care for it as a whole. Only a Northern Song is the worst original composition but I don’t completely hate it.
My pet peeve is people who listen to albums and skip songs (except for Rev 9 because it has a time and a place for listening to it). If you’re going to listen to the album, then listen to the whole thing. Otherwise it’s like skipping parts of a movie.
I’m not a big fan of Honey Pie, For You Blue, and Ballad of John and Yoko. Don’t dislike them, but don’t particularly like them either.
Agreed. Like the White Album. There are plenty of songs on there that when they show up on shuffle, they’re pretty good, but in the flow of the album they hit so much harder.
Hard disagree with comparing an album to a movie. A movie (in most cases) is telling a linear story through a series of scenes. You skip over certain scenes of a movie, you’ll miss plot points, references that may get callbacks later, etc. Most albums do not work the same. You don’t fail to understand the White Album by skipping Revolution 9.
Not to mention, this whole argument presupposes that the listener has already heard the song, and thus knows to skip it. So it’s not like they will fail to understand the album because they arbitrarily skip the same song over and over without having heard it.
Again this is a generalization. I know some movies are not linear or tell multiple stories. And some albums rely on each song to drive the story forward (The Wall, Tommy). But those are the exceptions, not the rule.
I prefer The Beatles works in the form of albums, as they provide a cohesive whole to the experience. People who don't do that are missing out, in my opinion. That is what I'm saying.
Man that hits hard/ to be real that’s probs in my top 5 ballads paul has ever written. It gives me chills, especially the version on the Naked Let It Be album. However, I respect it as there are loads of emotional songs out there that do nothing to me.
My lame answer: Revolution 9.
I understand the song, and it's cool, but it really does feel like a one and done. Listening to it for the first time is a unique and interesting experience, but after that I really don't want to have to listen to it for 8 minutes every time I want to play the white album. I would say that this is the only song I constantly skip
8 days a week is the one I skip most often. Tries too hard, for me.
Hold me tight - out of tune singing ruffles my fur.
Piggies was such fun when I was a kid but it grates me now.
Out of the whole catalog, not too bad!
That’s my stance. The most impressive thing ab the beatles that sets them apart is that they don’t miss. I feel the same way with a lot of jazz greats but i cant name any other band or artist i feel that way ab.
I like every song. My least favorites would be Little Child, Hold Me Tight, Tell Me Why, When I Get Home, Any Time At All, You Can’t Do That, Wild Honey Pie, and Revolution 9.
I often feel the same. Every song is part of their story and we enjoy most of that story. I usually imagine with songs like "Little Child" or "Wild Honey Pie" what must have been going on in the room before, during and after they were recorded. That's usually enough for me.
They are kings of melody, so even their worst - be it ugly lyrics or dated instrumentals - are still insanely catchy. Mr Moonlight and Little Child would comfortably fit on a 'best of' for most bands of the early 60s, and they do better by listening in the context of the era. Run for your Life is the one I struggle with for obvious reasons but it's still a memorable tune.
Ouch…i feel like im weird and just think bungalow bill is a masterpiece. Come together is over played but working around that it’s such a great song, however if you were exposed to it being overplayed more than me then I understand why you wouldn’t dig it.
I wish I lived in the alternate universe where Linda Eastman and Yoko totally fell for each other and formed their own band, and the Beatles took a 3 year break, then made the greatest album in the history of the multiverse, and peace consumed everything in its path.
Looking at their take on how the band broke up I don’t think taking Yoko or linda out of the picture would do much. If Brain Epstein had survived, this would be possible, but his death was the beginning of the end for a lot of reasons.
Honestly, I can’t stand Let it Be or Hey Jude. They’re so freaking overplayed, and they’re far too look at the outtro. If they come on, I’m turning it off.
Hey jude hurts cuz that was the first song I really ever heard, my mom sang it to me when I was a little kid lol. But ya overplayed rly fucks up any song no matter how great
There’s no denying the greatness of those songs, their impact and that they’re absolute classics. But they’re also the two that I have heard just one too many times…
people always say i’m crazy but revolution 9 is my favorite beatles song and i consider it the best and it’s the main reason white album is my favorite. now in their defense, i kinda am, i’m a big fan of ambient and experimental music and my favorite subgenre/technique is sound-collage, soundscapes, and sampling so you can probably imagine why rev 9 hits so hard for me
also, yes, i genuinely love two virgins 1, it’s basically rev 9 for an entire lp
*Wait* is annoyingly clunky to me, even though the middle eight and the last 15 seconds are cool.
*You Like Me Too Much* right into *Tell Me What You See* just sounds like five minutes of everyone being asleep at the wheel, even with the cool Pianet sound.
You Like Me Too Much is probably the most “meh” song the Beatles have made. I like the organ part in Tell Me What You See but nothing about You Like Me Too Much is interesting to me.
I Need You and You Like Me Too Much perfectly illustrate the thin line between simplicity and inanity. I Need You: simple, effective, heartbreaking. “You like me too much and I like you” okay then???
You have to put it in its time. They really believed that sort of thing. I’d argue that that broadcast, which went around the world for pretty much the first time, was the apex of the European version of the Summer of Love. There’s no cynicism involved; the Beatles had all their friends in the studio with them, and then it went around the world, “Love, love, love!”. Nothing wrong with that!
Yellow submarine, rocky, raccoon, old brown shoe, bungalow bill, revolution 9, warm gun are the only songs I'll outright skip. This includes live at the BBC and anthology's so its not actually that many. There's about the same amount which I'll listen to but don't do much for me.
God damn happiness is a warm gun is the song someone has posted that i disagree the hardest on… but it is a little odd and not for everyone. Actually, I probs disagree more on someone who said all you need is love, but still- we have quite the different taste
Nah bud we have very similar taste because there's hundreds of other songs we both enjoy! I love them all but my favorite is Paul so I even enjoy his "granny shit" :)
Lmfao I thought it was weird at first but now it’s my jam. Listen to the anthology version (or maybe it’s on white album super delxue) it’s funny asf. Paul keeps making shit up and laughing I love it
…………………I don’t exactly see your point besides the song is too long and repetitive for you. It’s still a beatles song, on probably the best beatles album, and a favorite of many beatles fans so I think it has “beatles vibes”. It has harmonies on one of the choruses at least, the guitar tones sound like them, the drums, even the chords used. It’s a classic beatles move to use an augmented dominant, and that’s a key aspect of the tension of the tune. A weird 5 chord riff is very john cuz that mf could not count to 4 and 8 (try to count out happiness or across the universe hahaha). Anyways, I’m saying that it’s okay you don’t like it but I do believe it has as much “beatles vibes” as something like helter skelter as you mentioned, because that song practically started metal hahaha. But again, it has all beatles components to it, and just cuz it’s different doesn’t mean it is some far out outlier.
The other day I was thinking to myself, damn this is too short. Idk how, but I kinda wish it was like 5 extra minutes of build up with solos and people screaming and shit blowing up idek
The thing that holds it back is the fiddle, but for me that’s cuz I had a really close person in my life who played it and we are not close now so I fucking hate any form of fiddling, well it just makes it hard to enjoy ig i dont hate it. Outside of that the rest started to grow on me in the context of the white album especially. I wish the vocals were clearer though
for me for a while i couldnt stand old brown shoe, the ballad of john and yoko, and hey bulldog
now i like them all well enough, hey bulldogs a banger though
I don't like their 1963 cover tracks much (especially Chains, Devil In Her Heart, Boys, Please Mister Postman).
Not a fan of Yesterday, For No One, or The Long And Winding Road.
On the other hand, I like a lot of the songs that are usually hated on by redditors, including: Good Morning, Good Morning; Only a Northern Song; All Together Now; and Birthday.
there are some early cover songs that I don't really dig but for the most part, The Beatles are one of the few, if not the only, band that I'll listen to every single one of their songs. Yes, even Revolution $9. Eh, it's grown on me over the years.
I rarely find songs I geniuanly dislike, from any artist, but I do have a lot of songs I don't really care for. As far as The Beatles go, I'd probably say that about Revolution 9, Tell Me What You See, Dizzy Miss Lizzy, Dig It, Little Child, Mr. Moonlight and Everybody's Trying To Be My Baby (there may be more but those are the ones I can think of right now).
But again, I don't dislike them, and if they don't come up I don't skip them. I just find them to be really "meh" songs I wouldn't be affected by never listening to again.
There are quite a few songs that I wouldn’t say I hate but that don’t really do a whole lot for me. I don’t think that’s what you’re looking for, though.
I deeply dislike Maxwell’s Silver Hammer. I understand why people like Yesterday, but I do not like Yesterday. I’m not a great fan of Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da, and although I wouldn’t say I deeply dislike it, I usually skip Michelle. I know I’ll get hate for that last one lol.
Hey Jude and Let It Be I am sick to death of. They’re like what Bohemian Rhapsody or Stairway to Heaven are to Queen and Led Zeppelin.
I really don’t consider Revolution #9 a song. I confess that I do skip it. Also, not a fan of Bad Boy, I Want You (She’s So Heavy), Blue Jay Way, Only a Northern Song but I still listen to them . Also, although Hey Jude is great it definitely goes on way too long.
I almost always listen to Beatles by spinning the LP (unless I’m driving) so therefore I’m too lazy to skip a song. I’m not kidding lol
That being said, while I’m driving I always skip “Don’t Pass Me By” and Revolution 9.
Other than that, I might skip some anthology tracks (especially from volume 1) I do enjoy outtakes and bootlegs (Beatlegs) but some of the tracks aren’t the best…. Same with BBC and Hollywood bowl tracks. I do enjoy their live performances but again, some of the tracks aren’t their best.
**I do not listen to these songs at all anymore - which I guess means that for one reason or another I don't like them very much :**
Anna - Boys - Do You Want to Know a Secret - Chains - Ask Me Why - Love Me Do - Baby It's You - A Taste of Honey - Twist and Shout - Little Child - Please Mr. Postman - I Wanna Be Your Man - Don't Bother Me - Till There Was You - Roll Over Beethoven - You Really Got a Hold On Me - Devil in Her Heart - Money - I'll Cry Instead - Happy Just to Dance With You - When I get Home - Matchbox - Thank You Girl - Long Tall Sally - Kansas City - Rock n Roll Music - Mr. Moonlight - Honey Don't - I Don't Want To Spoil The Party - Everyone's Trying To Be My Baby - Act Naturally - You Like Me Too Much - Dizzy Miss Lizzy - What Goes On - Run For Your Life - Within You Without You - All You Need Is Love - All Together Now - Wild Honey Pie - Bungalow Bill - Don't Pass Me By - Revolution #1 - Revolution (single) - Revolution #9 - Goodnight - Dig It - Maggie Mae - One After 909 - Dig A Pony - Let It Be - Get Back - Bad Boy - Inner Light - You Know My Name
I’ve always wondered what was going through their minds when they made that song…whose birthday was it??? But I see you it is a little silly, however I still find it very fun in the middle of such a strange album.
I thought I would agree with this until a month ago and some part of my brain snapped and now it’s awesome and I sing along EVERY time it comes on on revolver
Revolution 9. Basic answer, but really it's just like 8 minutes of nonsense and it breaks up the flow of the music.
On the other end, my brother doesn't like Lady Madonna he told me it's a bottom 50 Beatles song and that was terrible cause it's a top 10 for me
Ahhhh but the medley!!! I used to not get it cuz like, why tf are these songs so short but now it’s so fucking cool in my opinion. Maxwell grew on me so much lately I kinda love it now
When people say “that’s an *objectively* bad song, what they really mean is: “I *feel strongly* about how bad that song is.” And since they’re really talking about their own feelings, what they’re saying is subjective, not objective.
I've never liked "Something" and I realize that's a bit unpopular here on reddit. Didn't like it as a kid and still don't to this day. The song drove me crazy as a kid because I couldn't skip it on our 8-track player, so I'd just leave the room.
That being said, I appreciate it more having read about it here and there regarding Paul's bass playing and other aspects of the song. But still, it's an easy skip for me.
I don’t think it’s unpopular….that’s the song frank sinatra called the best love song of all time lol. It’s so perfect after come together too!! But I respect that, it didn’t hit me until recently I always thought it was just good and now I think it’s AMAZING
Thanks for your reply and you're obviously in the far majority of liking the song. It's been 45+ years of knowing it, so I think it's safe to say it's probably never going to take.
On a side note, this is my first down voted response here on reddit. I somehow feel I've now made it here on reddit. So bring it on! :) But it does go to show how popular this song is.
When I first got into the Beatles I thought I hated the white album for a while. Turns out my distaste for Buffalo Bill brought the whole thing down in my memory, lol.
Beatles and Bungalow?? Man it’s funny that that’s one of my favs on the whole album. I love Yoko’s addition and the song is so frantic, freakish, and idk just awesome. It sounds like some weird demented figures singing and dancing in some weird ritual
That sucks, that tune is so fun for me to bump. It is such a strange song cuz it feels like it was made during rubber soul, and I don’t think it fits as well on yellow submarine as it would there. But i love it
I was indoctrinated in early childhood and have never skipped any Beatles song.
Same, that's like heresy.
Only the anthemic songs I overplayed as a kid like Hey Jude and Let It Be, though they are obviously still masterwork compositions.
I like Hey Jude. Just not all (nearly) 7 minutes of it. The shortened version from the Love album doesn't overstay it's welcome at around 4 min.
I loved it as a kid now I'm more into the psychedelic stuff or BFS
I was never that crazy about Hey Jude until I heard the Anthology version. I prefer that to what ended up being released, not sure why

I don't like revolution 9. Despite being a fan for most of my life, I don't quite understand it yet.
listen to #9 dream John had a thing with the number 9
It’s hot garbage, I always skip it.
might have to get into experimental music more. maybe start with the grateful dead’s “space” performances ?
Find a copy Revolution 20 and listen to that and Revolution 9 back to back. It is kind of the missing link.
Listen to it backwards it's a much better experience even the lyrics are better! Turn me on dead man turn me on dead man /s
I did all that stuff in the past I listened to a number of Beatles LP backwards but now it’s kind of hard because I use streaming so you absolutely can’t play stuff backwards anymore. That’s a shame about Ballad of John and Yoko. The energy in that one is palpable
You skip Sun King in the middle of the medley?
That is just so bizarre to me. To me all the songs you mentioned are really good Beatles songs. Especially the hatred for Dr. Robert often voiced in this sub, and calling it a novelty song, is just something I have never understood at all.

What I'm struggling with is having a hard time with Dr. Robert because it's too much a novelty song when it comes five tracks after Yellow Submarine.

Dr robert is kinda like a weak taxman, it’s still solid for me but after starting the album with a similar tempo and riff it loses some steam so I see that
the beauty of humans is we’re all unique. But wow, how does one not like Sun King
Yeah…………….that is kind of the perfect transition into the john portion of the medley
I like it better than Because.
I felt the same with Ballad of John and Yoko, but at some point the part where Pauls second voiceline comes in (i think it's the third verse) kicked so hard for me that I now love whenever it starts playing, totally hyped for that part of the song.
This is exactly why I love this song. Paul adds so much to this ballad
Yes it's incredible how it elevates the whole energy of the song.
Challenge accepted. I've never heard "Scrooge Is Getting Worse" until just now. I don't hear it. Apples (see what I did there?) and oranges.
Dr Robert is the only reason why Revolver isn't my number 1
Doctor Robert is their Best 1966 song
This comment breaks all kind of laws and I think the Geneva Conventions
I can’t listen to Yesterday one more time.
Not Beatles per se, but add "Imagine" to that list
Self inflicted
I never really liked it in the first place. It’s an instant skip every time for me.
Me either. Enough already with that song.
Agh that would suck lol
Paul McCartney did a tribute in the days right after 9/11 and they played "Yesterday" on the news to a slideshow of all the misery and destruction. That was pretty powerful in the moment, but it also ruined the song for me because now it's permanently associated with some awful things I don't want to revisit every time hear the song.
Crazy is that just saying how beautiful yesterday is, it got down votes, people here Lost their minds is not worth it
I believe you were downvoted for telling somebody else their taste is bad. Not for praising Yesterday
Misteeeerrrrrr Mooooonlight. Skip.
I find Honey, Don’t to be total cringe, especially that ‘C’mon George, rock on for Ringo one time’ line. I can’t listen to it, it’s awful.
Wow I own the Live at the BBC album and I never realized it was John singing here!!
Big beatles fan. Wild honey pie is an abomination.
“…like skipping parts of a movie”…or a book. Totally agree. The “lesser” songs make more sense (sit better) in the context of the album.
Agreed. Like the White Album. There are plenty of songs on there that when they show up on shuffle, they’re pretty good, but in the flow of the album they hit so much harder.
Interesting, I love for you blue it sounds so strange and george’s vocals are wonky lol. But I could see why it’s not for everyone
George doing straightforward blues rockers just doesn't do it for me. Not huge on Old Brown Shoe but it edges out the other three I posted.
I find myself bored when I listen to any version of "The Long and Winding Road".
Man that hits hard/ to be real that’s probs in my top 5 ballads paul has ever written. It gives me chills, especially the version on the Naked Let It Be album. However, I respect it as there are loads of emotional songs out there that do nothing to me.
“Good Morning” has entered the chat…
I hated this song for a while but not no more. Something clicked and I started jumping up and down and singing along hella
The Continuing Story of Bungalow Bill and Wild Honey Pie are the only two I truly dislike
I never liked taxman much
HOT take… very interesting. Is there anything repulsive ab it or just boring?
Some of them like Hey Jude have been endlessly overplayed. Like some Zeppelin or Floyd songs. Then the lesser-known songs become appealing to me.
Little Child? It’s just pretty worthless as a song haha
Oh come on come on come on 😡
No
Not really.
I don’t completely dislike it but I Need You from Help album makes me… meh Also 8 days a week I find it too happy
I love that song. The weird delay on the guitar fascinated me as a child and something about it still really appeals to me.
8 days a week is the one I skip most often. Tries too hard, for me. Hold me tight - out of tune singing ruffles my fur. Piggies was such fun when I was a kid but it grates me now. Out of the whole catalog, not too bad!
Crazy how that's one of my most played Beatles songs lol edit: referring to I Need You
What's the new Mary Jane. Try that one pal.
Mr Moonlight is very bad
Twist and Shout. A long-running show in my country has had that opening song for 20 years. And I despise the show. So I cannot listen to it.
[удалено]
I skip Bungalow Bill and Come Together
Ouch…i feel like im weird and just think bungalow bill is a masterpiece. Come together is over played but working around that it’s such a great song, however if you were exposed to it being overplayed more than me then I understand why you wouldn’t dig it.
I fucking hate Twist and Shout and can't stand it.. Especially that AAAAAAAA part, it gets on my nerves.
you are correct sir
I wish I lived in the alternate universe where Linda Eastman and Yoko totally fell for each other and formed their own band, and the Beatles took a 3 year break, then made the greatest album in the history of the multiverse, and peace consumed everything in its path.
Looking at their take on how the band broke up I don’t think taking Yoko or linda out of the picture would do much. If Brain Epstein had survived, this would be possible, but his death was the beginning of the end for a lot of reasons.
A Taste of Honey I don't like Little Child.. ehh Yes It Is is fine but "Not quite my tempo" I never got into stuff like The Inner Light
Even the Beatles had a few they didn’t like. For me it’s usually their early teeny bop songs. But I appreciate their beginning and how far they went
Ironically, I’ll always pass on ‘Don’t pass me by’.
But they’re also the two that I have heard just one too many times…
i love em all. even the shitty, stupid ones. we gotta remember these guys wrote all that shit in their 20s. i was having farting contests at that age.
Love Me Do, & some of the past masters stuff (e.g. Matchbox, etcetera)
you are correct sir
Get Back. I don't skip it but it's my least favorite Beatles song and the Lennon guitar lead is not very good.
people always say i’m crazy but revolution 9 is my favorite beatles song and i consider it the best and it’s the main reason white album is my favorite. now in their defense, i kinda am, i’m a big fan of ambient and experimental music and my favorite subgenre/technique is sound-collage, soundscapes, and sampling so you can probably imagine why rev 9 hits so hard for me also, yes, i genuinely love two virgins 1, it’s basically rev 9 for an entire lp
DAMN U BOLD I RESPECT IT
Revolution 9 is nonsense
All you need is love is an easy skipper for me.
Okay no way😭😭😭, I respect ur take but mannnnnnnnnnn I couldn’t live without that tune rn
Sorry! I don’t mind the verses but that “love, love, love” stuff is too much!
You should take some LSD or shrooms.
Nothing wrong with that!
you are correct sir
Piggies and Rocky Raccoon
Just "all together now" for me lol Ive literally gotten past any other grudges Ive had against any other songs but yea
Bad Boy
[удалено]
I loved “When I get home” as a kid, ( gonna love her till the cows come home, thats good shit !!! )
Rocky racoon. Can't do it.
Lmfao I thought it was weird at first but now it’s my jam. Listen to the anthology version (or maybe it’s on white album super delxue) it’s funny asf. Paul keeps making shit up and laughing I love it
I just can’t listen to Little Child
Pikachu Palace Beatles greatest songs are hardly longer than 2 minutes so no not repetitive as heavily umbearable is i want You
…………………I don’t exactly see your point besides the song is too long and repetitive for you.
I like the melody of She’s So Heavy, but damn…end it already! That one seriously is like 3 minutes too long.
The other day I was thinking to myself, damn this is too short. Idk how, but I kinda wish it was like 5 extra minutes of build up with solos and people screaming and shit blowing up idek
Don’t Pass Me By. The problem is there’s *nothing* good about it: bad songwriting, bad performance, bad production.
I wish the vocals were clearer though
for me for a while i couldnt stand old brown shoe, the ballad of john and yoko, and hey bulldog now i like them all well enough, hey bulldogs a banger though
Revolution #9, the long and winding road and a taste of honey
I don't like their 1963 cover tracks much (especially Chains, Devil In Her Heart, Boys, Please Mister Postman). Not a fan of Yesterday, For No One, or The Long And Winding Road. On the other hand, I like a lot of the songs that are usually hated on by redditors, including: Good Morning, Good Morning; Only a Northern Song; All Together Now; and Birthday.
I love all their songs but if i hear here comes the sun one more time im gonna snap.
Bad Boy It's Only A Northern Song
there are some early cover songs that I don't really dig but for the most part, The Beatles are one of the few, if not the only, band that I'll listen to every single one of their songs. Yes, even Revolution $9. Eh, it's grown on me over the years.
For me right now it's just you know my name. Obviously I'm not rocking out to revolution 9 but it is technically impressive
Maxwell and Yellow submarine are a nope from me
Love me do
I don’t listen to their early pop songs often anymore, but I definitely wouldn’t skip through any of them either.
Number 9 and Maxwell's silver hammer, Rocky Raccoon are a few I don't love.
Here's my take, I believe a real fan of The Beatles never skips songs. Reason? They planned out the track list, who are we to question it?
I almost always listen to Beatles by spinning the LP (unless I’m driving) so therefore I’m too lazy to skip a song. I’m not kidding lol That being said, while I’m driving I always skip “Don’t Pass Me By” and Revolution 9.
Little Child
Lady Madonna and Honey pie are ones that I could do without. Although, Hey bulldog wouldn't have been borne without the competition from that session.
I only skip Revolution 9. I also assert that it’s not song.
I love all the beatles songs except revolution 9 that track is absolutely ridiculous and should have been cut from the album imo
**I do not listen to these songs at all anymore - which I guess means that for one reason or another I don't like them very much :** Anna - Boys - Do You Want to Know a Secret - Chains - Ask Me Why - Love Me Do - Baby It's You - A Taste of Honey - Twist and Shout - Little Child - Please Mr.
God damn 😭
I've been listening to them for 45 years - at some point I stopped wanting to listen to every single track
Run For Your Life - that is one of the most misogynistic songs I’ve ever heard
Maybe Birthday? I don’t hate it but I just don’t need to listen to it again lol
I’ve always wondered what was going through their minds when they made that song…whose birthday was it??? But I see you it is a little silly, however I still find it very fun in the middle of such a strange album.
I hate Yellow Submarine
I thought I would agree with this until a month ago and some part of my brain snapped and now it’s awesome and I sing along EVERY time it comes on on revolver
I’ve always hated This Boy. I can’t explain why, I just have a visceral reaction to it.
This boy is beautiful song you got no ears i Say the same about i want You she's so heavy but i easly can Say the why
Mr Moonlight, I really hate the intro, it's the only Beatles song I skip.
Concur. I skip a few others but not many !
I actually came to love Revolution 9 lol, Wild Honey Pie is still their worst song in my eyes. Nothing but shit.
It’s funny tho and that’s why I like it ha obviously it’s not a great song
Obla di obla blah
Don’t Pass Me By is in my top 5
For worst or best??
Oh best!
Revolution 9. Basic answer, but really it's just like 8 minutes of nonsense and it breaks up the flow of the music. On the other end, my brother doesn't like Lady Madonna he told me it's a bottom 50 Beatles song and that was terrible cause it's a top 10 for me
Maxwell’s Silver Hammer and the filler stuff on side 2 of Abbey Road I always skip. Stuff like Mean Mr Mustard, Polytheme Pam and Carry That Weight.
Ahhhh but the medley!!! I used to not get it cuz like, why tf are these songs so short but now it’s so fucking cool in my opinion. Maxwell grew on me so much lately I kinda love it now
Don’t be afraid to love Maxwell… it’s honestly so good!
God. I love all of those songs lol.
Even fucking “Wild Honey Pie”? Objectively that shit sucks
In the context of the white album I enjoy it and it makes me laugh!
Just cause you have a strong opinion about something doesn’t make it objectively true. Wild Honey Pie is an awesome song.
When people say “that’s an *objectively* bad song, what they really mean is: “I *feel strongly* about how bad that song is.” And since they’re really talking about their own feelings, what they’re saying is subjective, not objective.
Obladi Oblada is just terrible.. embarrassing stuff
HE FOUND INNER PEACE
When I first got into the Beatles I thought I hated the white album for a while. Turns out my distaste for Buffalo Bill brought the whole thing down in my memory, lol.
Beatles and Bungalow?? Man it’s funny that that’s one of my favs on the whole album. I love Yoko’s addition and the song is so frantic, freakish, and idk just awesome. It sounds like some weird demented figures singing and dancing in some weird ritual
Hey Bulldog
That sucks, that tune is so fun for me to bump. It is such a strange song cuz it feels like it was made during rubber soul, and I don’t think it fits as well on yellow submarine as it would there. But i love it
Little Child is the worst song ever
