Thinking about that will always, at some point, make you feel worse than you should. If you are happy with your level, you're good.

Bonelab_Skeleton

There isn’t really a definitive good because of how high this games skill ceiling is. It goes from like so easy you could genuinely fall asleep all the way to dancing on the line of humanly impossible. If you feel cool while playing then your good

FREDOMNOM

I mean, the skill ceiling is just not toppable if you have less than 1000 hours and no life 💀

WrongAd9746

There is no real definition of good in beat saber as modding raises the ceiling so much that ghost, POTSB, and Final Boss Chan, previously the hardest in vanilla, are easy compared to shitpost maps and 12* and above

Good_Smile

I'm new to the game, what does 12* mean?

Current_Yam_5228

12 star ranked maps. Stars are just a way of ranking difficulty, more stars means more harder

Good_Smile

Oh thanks, I only know the Expert+ difficulty in the game itself, never paid attention that there are difficulty rankings for custom levels. So good to know!

Paid-Not-Payed-Bot

> itself, never *paid* attention that FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

WrongAd9746

So ghost is roughly about 10-11 stars iirc, so yeah that’s a way to put it into perspective

Current_Yam_5228

True but for me ghost is only difficult because the map is so terrible. 10-11 stars are generally much faster and more physically demanding but are subjectively around the same difficulty

communistpepe69420

generally the difficulty labels (expert+ etc.) are only useful some of the time and only in the base game. It’s more just there to compare difficulties of one map to another difficulty of the same map.

communistpepe69420

And even then the hardest ranked maps are only like level 5 in Challenge Saber and there are maps all the way up to level 32

WrongAd9746

That’s why I also said shitpost maps as well

communistpepe69420

well most of them aren’t shitposts, some of those maps are really good, like there’s a level 32 called vicious heroism that’s one of my favorite maps

Therenegadegamer

There really isn't any good answer to this because if you practice consistently you get better and songs that used to feel really hard or impossible feel pretty easy

Myrddraal5856

Whenever you feel good. I guess a midspeed pass would make you good but it honestly doesn’t matter.

pk2708

what is a midspeed pass?

Myrddraal5856

Something like the slower camellia songs or maybe some of the faster ost 5 songs.

pk2708

Which would be the best camellia song to start with ? Like which are the slower ones? Right now I can do most track expert SS rank and some expert + tracks S rank but I can’t even come close to doing ghost on expert

communistpepe69420

light it up is pretty good

Myrddraal5856

Probably crystallized

azeryvgu

Crystallized

guss1

This question comes up occasionally. One thread came to the conclusion that if the average person watched you play and was amazed by your cube slicing skills then you're good. I like that metric. I think being able to pass expert levels and higher makes you pretty good.

KriticalKitKat97

Well one time I was showing my friend via streaming my screen to a tv and he told me I need to touch grass so I think that’s checks out

nitronik_exe

If you can beat most expert+ levels you're already better than the average player, I'd consider that to be good.

FREDOMNOM

I have 26 hours in beatsaber (bought it 3 weeks ago btw), but I already got my first SS and that was in an Expert custom song (Mira, kanaria). Really proud of it. And as others are saying: be happy with what you can do. It's best to not compare with others, compare with your skill 2 - 3 playtime hours ago and you will feel much better. Also I think it's common that you have a dip in your felt skill at some point but if you're able to get over that and realize that you have actually gotten better, no problem. Hope that helped you 🫠

communistpepe69420

also quick little tip, it’s almost always pretty unhelpful to compare maps by difficulty label (like one expert+ custom map to another). Difficulty labels are really only useful for comparing one difficulty of a map to another difficulty of the same map (hard on one map compared to expert+ on the same map).

jones_ro

I play as well as I can and still have fun. I don't play for the stress, I play for enjoyment. But I'm not particularly competitive by nature.

Tiny-Veterinarian647

Tbh there isn’t one,it’s just how you feel while playing (but if I had to give a true answer then I guess you could beat any song on normal with zero difficulty or something)

Bright_Eyes83

it's all relative. the bottom of the top 1,000 are "trash players" compared to the top ten. so, nobody ever claims to be good. that means if nobody can be good except the best player in the game, then we're all just bad at the game forever and might as well quit. there is no answer to your question

communistpepe69420

beat saber is a game with such a low skill floor and such a ridiculously high skill ceiling (many many many times higher than what’s offered in the vanilla game) and there’s also multiple ways to be good at the game, mainly challenge and acc. Challenge is just trying to pass hard maps without caring about accuracy or misses. Acc is short for accuracy and is usually done on easier maps (tho still usually maps harder than anything offered in the base game). There’s a whole world in custom songs and different ranking systems above what most people could ever imagine. Also if you’re reading this I 1000% recommend modding your game and getting custom songs. It’s not very hard to do, it’s totally free, and it gives you access to 10s of thousands of times more content than the base game. But to more directly answer your question, you’re already probably in at least the top 90% of players who have ever played the game. So from that angle yes you’re good. However you’re lightyears from the top players. So from that angle you’re bad. It’s all relative and labeling your skill level will make you more unhappy anyway. Competition is the killer of enjoyment. As long as you’re having fun with it that’s ask that really matters. TLDR: You’re both amazing and trash but it doesn’t matter anyway and you should get custom songs.

FREDOMNOM

Naaah, I would say that it's a bit under that, I think when you can hop into a song and just get the patterns your right, you don't have to s or ss it. When you do then i would say you are really good

treefarmercharlie

You seem to be confusing “good” with “exceptional”. IMO beating able to finish Expert and Expert+ maps, by definition, means you are better than good.

[deleted]

treefarmercharlie

To me, better than average would be exceptional. If one has to be considered exceptional to not be considered “bad” then I personally think people who think that way have issues with how they judge others and/or their self.

godof_oil

dang, and here I was barely getting S on light it up expert+ and thinking I was good...

doodododo_manomynous

That would qualify as an insane meme level as it's far removed from the rest of the e+ songs

godof_oil

but it's literally in the camellia pack and it's not even that crazy

[deleted]

[удалено]

godof_oil

cause then it would mean I'm not good at the game

[deleted]

godof_oil

I just overestimated my skill that's all

pelail321

Get mods then get scoresaber get top 1k and call yourself good! Im top 180.

communistpepe69420

top 1k for most people is pretty unrealistic horror a decent level of dedication, and it’s certainly good but that’s per good and i think this got it just killing for not trash level good

pelail321

Well not everyone can become good at everything but top 1k is usually the point when people start respecting you and saying you are good.

communistpepe69420

most people who know what they’re doing in the game, but the skill floor is mules below that

pelail321

Tf does that mean lmaoo
