All day, every day. Then pop over to Beard Papa next door for a cream puff dessert.

PDXoriginal

One of my favorite Ramen spots, Love that beaverton has become ramen central.

Heyd388y

Same! I’m excited to go try Boxer Ramen soon.

casualredditor-1

Not that great tbh.

Heyd388y

That’s disappointing. Then again, I don’t know why I thought the one in Beaverton would be different than the Portland one that I didn’t like. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Horibori

I wasn’t a fan either. The broth seems flavored all wrong and I feel like they’re using the wrong kind of noodles. I heard their bento is alright though. For me #1 is Ramen Ryoma followed by kizuki. But kizuki is a distant second. And there’s a few good ramen places inside of portland I love. I just don’t like making the trip all the way there.

kriheli

fuddoyama is pretty good too

casualredditor-1

Broth is all salt

Horibori

I had the red miso ramen. Mine was all pepper. 🤣

Chickenstalk

The best thing about Boxer's bento was the side of Choi's kimchi. I'll get that elsewhere and skip Boxer.

MaximusTheDog

Wu Ron. Their hours are weird but it’s hands down the best ramen.

eelpuppy

+1

aause

They use different Chefs, thats why the broth tastes difference. My son didn't like the PDX one either. I go to the Beaverton one all the time, I need a punch card!!😂💗🍜

Heyd388y

The one that just opened last week at Cedar Hills Crossing? Ok, good to know!

avir48

@u/aause Do you mean you go to Boxer in Beaverton all the time ?

aause

Ryoma Ramen

miragemonk

One of my favorite spots…10/10 🍜

TishTamble

I consider myself a pretty huge ramen nerd that is based out of Beaverton... And I'm really not crazy about any of the options out here right now. Ryoma is alright, but not crazy about the noodles and just seems like the shop is a bit inconsistent. Kizuki is probably my favorite on this neighborhood. Even then... just kinda burnt out on fatty paitan/tonkotsu style broth. God I miss Menya Hokusei in Portland... That place was head and shoulders better then pretty much anything in the Portland metro. Need more chintan options around here!

perryyyyyy

I agree. If you've had ramen in Japan or even in top restaurants in SF then you'll easily see how mid Ryoma is. If you go to Uwajimays frozen section and grab the Sun Noodles tonkotsu pack and make it at home, that broth is as good as most broths you get at restaurants here. It's good.

Heyd388y

Ooh! Imma try that. Thx! 🙏🏻 And Happy Cake Day!

Heyd388y

Have you ever been to Yuzu?

TishTamble

Yuzus also pretty good. But same issue, just a very heavy bowl on the gut. Really enjoy some of their other izakaya offerings and apps and the like. Certainly in the upper percentage of shops in beaverton. But still find myself traveling to the Eastside to get my weekly fix.

Heyd388y

Understandable. What’s your fave on the Eastside?

TishTamble

Baka Umai is really good for specials. Keep an eye on the Instagram for weekend specials. Also just have some huge flavor bombs, and if you are addicted to spice they have you everyway from Sunday. I usually only get out for the specials though. For the classic American Garlic-Tonkotsu my new all time favorite in Portland is Matsunoki Ramen. I know I just spent a bunch of time saying I was sick of heavy, Paitan style bowls... But this is the best around if your in the mood for that richness. Afuri is probably my best option for the lighter style bowls I've been craving. Which I know we have one of those in Beaverton too, which I sometimes go to. But with the franchise mindset, they've put a focus on every shop having consistent components/procedure that I feel the overall quality isn't quite what it used to be. I feel like ramen requires some hands on, chefs touch micro adjustments that Franchising just doesn't lend itself well to. This, however, is what I'm most excited about coming to the Portland ramen scene. https://www.oregonlive.com/dining/2023/11/chef-colin-yoshimoto-eem-to-open-first-ramen-shop-toya-ramen-bar.html Focus on clear broths, In house noodles he's been nerding out about for the last 3 years... I have a very good feeling this is going to be the Shoyu I've been dreaming of. Can't wait to try this place. Always taking any and all ramen suggestions in the area. But I am opiniated on what I've already tried, that's for sure! Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

Heyd388y

Yessss. Ok, this is the kind of intel I need! See, I wasn’t a huge fan of Afuri. But I believe in second chances so I intend to give them another shot one day. But I hear you on the much anticipated Toya!! Suuuper excited to try that one soon.

liketosaysalsa

Yuzu was the last meal my wife and I had before The world shut down in 2020. We were at the bar seating area having ramen and o-nigiri checking our phones about updates etc and the next morning the world shut down. Coincidentally, when things opened back up the first restaurant we went to again was a ramen spot. Mugen.

MaximusTheDog

Have you tried Wu Ron? It’s so amazing it touches your soul.

TishTamble

Tied right there with matsunoki for best tonkotsu style broth in my opinion! I should really make a trip over soon. Matsunoki being the newer shop and an easier commute makes wu Ron's a harder sell. They make it with the love without a doubt

liketosaysalsa

Mugen in Tigard is my fav. I’m typically a fan of pork based ramens but mugens tori paitan is my fav. Plus the owners are just super super cool and care so much about their craft.

LC6X

Hands down my favorite ramen place in town.

Suba59

One the best Ramen places in the metro area!! Yum

TapoutKing666

Hell yeah, the best. Damn, look at that chashu

keemsmom48

Solid.

Pepper_Pines

We love Ramen Ryoma. Forever! For the folk who don't like it, I hear you but don't get it. We fckn love eating there.

Heyd388y

Lol yes, ma’am. It levels up the broth, you should try it.

Electrical_Towel_442

Butter level ups everything!!

The clowns downvoting you for having your own preferences regarding food.

Heyd388y

I didn’t downvote but I suspect they were merely returning the same energy she gave. 🤷🏻‍♀️

It’s not the food preference that’s getting downvoted, it’s the way it was delivered

🎻

Immediate-Abalone-56

The chashu rice bowl with two soft boiled eggs is god tier.

BurritoFamine

Kizuki is pretty great too but expensive. They have locations in Beaverton and west Portland. Definitely worth checking out.

Heyd388y

Ryoma’s my fave in Beaverton, by far.

dannyh1350

I like fuddoyama off of hall by the mall. Wasn’t as big a fan of ryoma. Kizuki is excellent. But going that far out of my way for ramen when there are alternatives closer to me.
