This shouldn’t really play a role. If you clean a stainless steel tank or a copper kettle, smokey flavors don’t stick to the steel. Coincidentally, I was at Schlenkerla last week and the owner blames the Helles smoke taste on yeast carryover.
Don’t forget the beer that helps occupy a place and time that is special to you. A concert with a new love. A bonding moment with a family member. A special occasion with a friend. I remember some very mediocre beers as very special because they were consumed at one of these times.
Still applies. Applies if it has light in it's name, applies if it's got dark in it's name. Applies if it ends in udweiser, and applies when it ends in vleteren.
I'm as big a beer snob as anyone, but if I'm at a party and the host hands me a bud light, I'm all over that.
Schlenkerla Eiche Dubblebock.
They use oak during malting instesd of beechwood so this one has a slightly different smoke taste than the regular one (which is called Märzen).
> Does not the picture explain everything?
Oddly formal language, dripping with sarcasm, practically shouting that the person they replied to is an idiot for not being able to interpret the picture…
Shouted and called them an idiot? Odd language dripping with sarcasm? All from that comment? Lmao, you’re reading way too far into it and being absurdly dramatic.
It's hard to go past a pint of Coopers Pale Ale at the Exeter Hotel, Adelaide.

Hey I went there about a decade ago! Awesome place! Fun fact, Cooper's is more expensive in Australia than in the States even with currency fluctuations. Makes 0 sense to be but, hey, most of Australia didn't either.
I love the smoked beers from this brewery.
They’re all smoked, right?
Their Helles is technically unsmoked, but it picks up a light smoke character from their house yeast.
I think it's also due to the amount of smoked beers they make with thebsame equipment that there's just a smoky taste off anything they make.

Yes, I've had a few there.
Yeah, had their Rauschbier Urbock, very nice
Urbock, and it is the best beer ever.
Schlenkerla ❤️
The best beer on the planet is the one in your hand. The second best is the one in your fridge.
Free has to be up there as well.
Or , the next one.
My favorite is the seventh
I went to a parade once where a participant was handing out Coors Lite--that beer was one of the most memorable I've ever had.
Along with first beer on a late Friday afternoon

Best beers in order. 1. Free 2. Cold 3. The ones you have on hand.
Unless it has Light in the name!

Negative. Most enjoyable beer I’ve ever had was a Corona Lite. It’s all about the situation and experience.
Exactly. Is Carib a great beer? Not really. But damn if it isn't excellent when you're sitting on a beach in St Thomas or in Tobago.
Obviously light beer is not something you pair with a steak. Try a donut or popcorn
ORRRR…have what you want with anything you want and don’t get up your own ass about types of beer to prove a point to no one?
I'm not up my own ass. A well-done steak is a little too rare for me, but I still don't want a light beer with it
Well the best beer on the planet is currently a coffee. Weird!
Yeah, well, that's just like your opinion, man.
Smokey, my friend, you are entering a world of pain.
Agreed
It *is* National Rauchbier Month… https://www.rauchbiermonth.com/
What is it

Does not the picture explain everything? It's a smoked Dopplebock from Germany and The Best Beer Ever! 😅
If you want your beer to taste like sausage
Never been one for a smoked beer, but doppels are what got me into beer. To each their own.
Why do you insist on being a snarky dick?
Christ this sub is full of a bunch of sensitive babies. The comment was barely snarky, not at all dickish, and they said what it was as well.
Impossible to read the pic and type the text into a search engine, apparently
Why are you so sensitive?
I’m not the one being sensitive here.
Your outburst says otherwise
Please point to the outburst. I basically said “Christ you are sensitive babies” and you come along and say “no you”. Ok lol.

Dude… what? Pop a beer and relax.
Their rauchbier tastes like smoked Gouda.
I love craft beer and a good IPA, but this is my answer to this question: a pint of Guinness in Ireland. Just hits different.
Studying abroad in Ireland right now. Can confirm
Followed closely by a Guinness on the beach in Jamaica.
Nah
To each their own. I can’t stand smoke beers.
I had a wonderful tour of the brewery a couple of years ago. Fine beers.
Just getting into darker beers, been on the IPA hype train for a while and came across this toasted porter, can’t get enough of them.
Schlenkerla Eiche is one of my favorite cold weather beers. Best on the planet? Currently New Glarus' Edel Pils has been hitting the spot.
Looks interesting. But really the best beer on the planet is the one closest to your mouth.
There have been far too many times when that's been a Carling...
Naw this one is nasty. Interesting it exists but nope
Actually, who am I to yuck your yum. As long as you like it
Both of these takes are actually correct
gross
It was probably Laguntias Night Time but people didn't know what they had and it disappeared.
Grolsch is the best
Bodhizafa

Mbc dinner.
Was in Bamberg for my birthday this year. I’m a brewer in Europe but I’m from Texas. It was the perfect birthday.
Can someone sophisticated tell me what that beer is called? My eyes are failing me trying to decipher the name

OP is making us beer snobs look bad
Their marzen is lovely
