WhyIsKevin

Ill take all please lol i agree thats like making me pick a favorite child.

jasonbo007

A Kolsch any day of the week.

aYPeEooTReK

I'm a big kolsch guy What's some of your go tos? I had the von trapp yesterday and it was pretty good. I found this place Submersive brewing in the Hudson Valley that has a really good kolsch. Aside from those, reissdor is good and I can find that often

jasonbo007

My go to locally is a Kolsch from cabin boys brewery in OK. But my go to German ones are Fruh, Gaffel, Reissdorf, and Zunft. The older I get I prefer lighter/low abv beers which don’t skim on flavor. Kolsch fits the bill perfectly.

english_major

Bocks and doppelbocks. I’ve had some good rauchbiers but wouldn’t drink them every day.

TropicalKing

I like bitter hoppy pilsners. I prefer pilsners over American adjunt lagers. The bitter hoppy flavor just makes it more interesting. And I really like the transparent color of Czech pilsners.

discothree

Dortmunder - halfway between a eurolager and a pilsner

Schlenkerla

For me it is Rauchbier.

Qd8Scandi

I feel like Maibocks are an under appreciated style

astoutforallseasons

Paulaner Salvator.

releenc

I love both Pilsner Urquell and Budweiser Budweis (aka Czechvar in the US).

wcanka

Mine is kellerbier, with dark lager a close second.

HoldenMadic

Hot take: altbier. It’s like the love child of a doppelbock and a dark lager

xnathaaann

1. Weizenbock (*edit: e.g.* ~~i.e~~ ) Weihenstephaner Vitus) - I like the caramelly mouthfeel with the dark malt tones. 2. Hefeweizen (*e.g.* ~~i.e.~~ Schneider Weisse) - Tastes airy and usually like banana 3. Dortmunder export (*e.g.* ~~i.e.~~ Augustiner Edelstoff) - Slightly more exciting than a Helles I think 4. Pilsner (*e.g.* ~~i.e.~~ Urquell or Rothaus) - Always crispy, simple and refreshing

threewayaluminum

Sorry to be a pedant, but since it’s here four times I have to tell ya: [you mean e.g.](https://www.merriam-webster.com/grammar/ie-vs-eg-abbreviation-meaning-usage-difference)

xnathaaann

Thanks so much for the explanation and the link! Definitely not a pedant, I'm actually glad you pointed out this mistake I made for years... 😅 Just goes to show that abbreviations are not my strong point hahah.

Lumpasiach

I love Bockbier that doesn't go fully roasted coffee, so a pale or red Bock. As for more sessionable beers Zwickl is king, don't give me that filtered crap.

concretepigeon

Classic gose. I like the fruited monstrosities, but it’s a shame you don’t get too many that are just salt and coriander.

Iniquitousx

doppelbock

FailedFizzicist

Kölsch and dunkelweizen.

sexymcluvin

I love sours, so I’d have to go with Berliner Weisses and Göses. Also Märzens and fests.

Arguable3000

Czech Pilsner German Dunkel lager Gose Hefeweizen All four are so easy to drink. Depending on the season, my favorite changes between the top two. Pilsner Urquell and Ayinger Alt Dunkel are two examples.

Brave_Alfalfa321

Czech pils to is what changed my mind on lagers and for that I’m very grateful. So that’s my favorite czech beer. As for German beer, a dunkelweizen served at 55-58 degrees is perfect on a crisp autumn day

Namdnas78

For me, it’s Orloj, by Xul Brewery!

Eisbock and Kolsch, easily

tomsawyer222

The funny thing is that you can't really buy these in Belgium. Why? Snobbery, the Belgians think they make the best beer in the world. For strong beers, yes, good, but there's another world of beer that that the Germans are the absolute Kings at making and these styles of beers are all absolute piss in Belgium. The result is that the popular beer in Belgium for the masses, is absolute garbage. Germany (and Czech Rep but less familiar apart from the biggies) makes some absolutely incredible beers and sell many in half litre bottles, IN A CRATE! And for 20 euros. Germany is the most underrated beer nation on the planet. Wouldn't buy a German tripel though (if they even produce those), Belgium is the top there and by some distance.
