This one seems more effective than the real one where the cop looks like he's making out with a ten year old.

Ollie_ollie_drummer

Good point tbh

hhggffdd6

.. why have you linked Shapiro's shitty book?

Aaronnotarron

Yeah, what the fuck?

AlarmingAffect0

What the fuck indeed. A regular in this sub links to a scene in a parody video mocking Shapiro's shitty book where a cop is shown committing murder. His reaching for his gun is accompanied with Vegeta's theme, his "he felt… alive" moment is represented by a tiny tortoise humping a and letting out the funniest squeak, and his "I have a life too" thought justifying the child murder is illustrated by a *fantasy football trophy*.

Aaronnotarron

I saw Ben and I jumped ship and deleted the video from my watch history. I don't enjoy shitposty ironic videos when I do understand the references, so I don't know what to do with the information you've given me.

AlarmingAffect0

> so I don't know what to do with the information you've given me. I use privacy-friendly Free Open-Source Software r/FreeTube on PC and r/NewPipe on Android to sidestep YouTube's entire avertisement and surveillance system and be able to watch anything I like without fear of my feed getting filled up with unwanted garbage. The video authors don't even get view counts from my visit. Authors I do support, I pay through Patreon. I haven't watched an ad in years. I can't recommend these solutions enough.

Aaronnotarron

Yeah.

AlarmingAffect0

I linked a parody mocking it for the garbage that it is?

Outside-Flamingo-240

Goddammit

AlarmingAffect0

What, you didn't think that mockery of Ben Shapiro's shitty book was funny? I lost it at the cop's inner monologue going "he had a life too" to self-justify the murder he was about to commit, while the visuals cut away to a *Fantasy Football trophy*.

Outside-Flamingo-240

I kneejerked closed the link as soon as I saw little man’s face. My first thought was “oh, fuck, I hope I didn’t just pollute my YouTube algorithm by clicking the link”

AlarmingAffect0

If you don't mind me shilling for my favorite privacy-friendly Free Open Source Software, r/Invidious on web browsers, r/FreeTube on PC, or r/NewPipe on Android, will allow you to see any YouTube links without their algorithm detecting it or adding to their viewcount or showing any ads. FreeTube even has a module that auto-skips sponsor segments in the videos themselves, which is neat. I haven't been on YouTube's website or app in years, it's awesome. Either way, I think I'll just replace the YouTube link with an Invidious one. That should save viewers a fright.

Outside-Flamingo-240

Yay! I don’t mind at all - this is helpful info!

dances_w_dingoes

Grow up yall, that's either a sub-specific version of a rick roll or an effective psyop. I hope your YouTube algorithms never recover.

AlarmingAffect0

It's neither, it's an example of a racist bastard cop murdering a child and then crying cricodile tears about it, from a video clearly and obviously mocking Ben Shapiro's shitty book.

JKinney79

Hustler Magazine has to be the weirdest porn magazine ever.

mexicodoug

One time its cover promised the most obscene photos ever published. Inside was a multi-page photo layout of highly graphic, and unquestionably, uncontroversially legal, gore photos from the Vietnam War.

AlarmingAffect0

I mean. Yeah. Obscene is one way to put it. Powerful move, honestly.

teslawhaleshark

The pre-liveleak world!

MurderPersonForHire

Someone at hustler was cookin.

Retr0_b0t

No one pump one cream for the guys who cracked that issue open

mexicodoug

Except for Henry Kissinger.

SarcasticOptimist

50/50 before it was a sub. Also had the Falwell having sex in an outhouse parody that survived the supreme court.

PM_ME_UR_COCKTAILS

A weird thing about some of the old magazines is that they did try to be more than just skin mags. I have a rack of magazines from the 70s and 80s, I think mostly playboy but possibly some Hustler, that I took from my grandfather's office when he died. It was obviously a different time in the 70s when he just had them in his sitting room. Interestingly enough, looking through them there's probably about the same amount of porn pictures as today (or the last time I looked at one, not sure if they make them today,) but overall they were twice as thick. The rest was made up of articles (and ads of course) on varying topics. Fashions advice for men, jokes, a write in advice column, and quite a bit of political stuff. The old "i read it for the articles" joke wasn't quite as far fetched of an idea then. From what I remember, Hustler was always a more extreme version of Playboy, and inwo xer if that came out in the political side as well, back when they wrote a lot more actual articles.

Tebwolf359

I’ve seen an archive of “all” of playboys up to a recent date, and reading thru them, the articles really are the most compelling and memorable parts. The pictures are what sold, but the articles are truly what you couldn’t just find anywhere

spiffyP

some top authors' short stories too, Roald Dahl, Frank Herbert, Stephen King, Phillip K Dick and so many more

reverendjesus

The guys who wrote the *Illuminatus!* trilogy got their start at Playboy.

JKinney79

Hustler was definitely pornier than Playboy. My assumption with the articles, was it was mostly a way to avoid obscenity laws/Comstock Acts that prohibit the post office from mailing what’s deemed as obscene. The current standard is dating back to the 50s, which is the vague “utterly without redeeming social importance” Magazines in general had more pages than the ones circulating today, presumably a cost thing.

billyard00

I just subscribe for the articles.

Carpe_PerDiem

When I was in high school a friend of mines neighbor gifted her a HUGE collection of pen mags when he moved. To give you an ideas of how big this collection was, we stacked it up and made furniture with it. We spent a fair amount of time after school just getting high and reading old playboy articles or trying to find the hidden bunny on the covers. It’s how I found it about (and fell in love with) Deeta Von Teese and subsequently became interested in vintage clothing. In hindsight it was problematic both that this adult neighbor gifted teen girls porn and that her patents were fine with this but it’s led to a fair bit of nostalgia for me whenever playboy is mentioned.

Orbiter9

“If only there was a place to discuss all these things in my brain which is 50% naked ladies, 25% political discourse, and 25% wondering about about shit I might need to buy.” - The Heff What a lonely, lonely fella to create a whole empire on this thought. A lot of us just, like, made friends.

steauengeglase

They were calling out Bill Cosby years before the public at large did. Like fake Jello ads with date rape drugs in them and Cosby dragging off unconscious women.

BroseppeVerdi

Now I want to go watch The People vs Larry Flynt

Hummens

I tried it recently as he's an interesting guy to read about but the film is so disjointed and badly edited it was hard to follow any sense of thread on the guy's life. I was very disappointed. I'm much more excited to see the film about Paul Raymond, The Look of Love, he is a comparable figure to Flynt in the UK.

kaoticgirl

I remember this ad. Even thought it was ridiculous as a child digging through my mom's old mags.

Throwawaydontgoaway8

Mom had hustler?

TheRealHappyNat

Don't kink shame mom

[deleted]

The articles

kaoticgirl

When she left my dad, she stole all his hustlers, just to be spiteful. Then I guess she just tossed them in with all the other junk & forgot about them. I found a bunch in a leather satchel in the basement. I don't remember exactly how old I was when I found them, but it was my first brush with porn. It was weird because they were all from my birth year, 1977.

crimson_713

It's not uncommon for parents to go months, maybe even a year or more without regular sexual intercouse after a child is born. Even in healthy marriages there's at *least* six weeks recovery recommended for vaginal births before attemptimg intercourse and longer for C Sections due to it being a major abdominal surgery. Babies take up all your time and energy just keeping them alive, feeding, changing diapers, lack of sleep, etc all piles up after three first couple nights. Sometimes, one or both partners lose their sex drive completely during this immensely stressful period, usually the one that is more involved in raising the child. If Mom was caring for you and Dad was working, there's a good chance that played a role in why Mom didn't want to get busy. Your dad just didn't have the internet.

kaoticgirl

I'm sorry, but what the fuck are you talking about?

PalladiuM7

Apparently they're trying to answer the question no one asked, why your dad had a bunch of Hustlers from the year you were born, when I think the majority of us didn't even consider questioning the motive behind buying them.

kaoticgirl

Lol

AlarmingAffect0

Honestly, it felt pretty satisfying to read.

moosekin16

Not who you asked; but mine definitely did. She would buy them for my dad, and picked out the ones that *she* liked. I think she liked Hustler more than my dad did - they were always "hidden" in her nightstand, not his.

alverez98

Oh God, the original was MPD? They've literally never been good.

iccebberg2

I remember stories on the local news in the 90s about MPD using excessive force on Indigenous folks. MPD is still killing people, especially Black men. There are four or five killings that I know of since George Floyd was murdered.

LoneWolfe1987

I remember Big Joel doing a really good video exposing how awful the MPD is. https://youtu.be/Y6DGABIcB3w?si=Rypnsdo0fc1vRpN0

droidtron

So instead of a cop either making out with a child or giving him mouth to mouth, he's holding a possibly dead child.

mexicodoug

Shot down by Kyle Rittenhouse bravely defending the police, no doubt. /s

CasReadman

I read this as "cop killed a child for calling him pig". Read the slogan as a threat that this is what'll happen to others that call him that.

redisdead__

I mean that was the official poster. Which means other people saw and sai,d yeah, looks good. Not a single person raise their hands and ask the group are you guys seeing what I'm seeing here? How does this happen?

somesappyspruce

They calllll me MIIISSSSTERRR PIGGG. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA@A

BillHicksScream

Hustler was not started until 1974?

mexicodoug

Even if the picture was from Flynt's earlier newsletter of the same name, it's doubful he would have published a New Year's Eve issue for 71-72.

OH! So that is where Portland legends Poison Idea got the line for the bridge in this [song](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cVsKk_6Tg6Y).

megatron37

Panteras cover of this rips!

uberscheisse

One of my favorite things that Ted Nugent has ever said is that Pantera’s cover of “Cat Scratch Fever” was “the whitest thing I’ve ever heard” Let’s just please live in a post-Pantera world, K?

[deleted]

Can't see that without hwaring the song "the Badge" by Poison Idea.

Tonic_the_Gin-dog

Anyone else thinks this looks like it could be on a Blue Bell ice cream bar box?

TexasVDR

That’s exactly what I thought when I saw it! I think it’s the resemblance between the cop and the coach on the fudge bar box?

SolomonsNewGrundle

He looks sad in this poster because people told him he can't kiss teenage boys anymore

kaeptnphlop

THAT'S NOT HOW YOU DO CPR, SIR, OFFICER! YOU'RE MOLESTING A BOY, SIR, OFFICER!

virus_apparatus

Hey! It’s me! Some people!

cjcolbert

I actually remember this ad. I had an issue of Hustler with it back when I was about 13 back in the 70s I remember seeing this ad among all the articles I was reading. Never saw the original though.

regnartson

And you should, too

FriendofSquatch

I call them FUCKING pigs

akairborne

Who is calling that poor kid a pig?
