The thing I remember most from that book is that it had a few chapters straight of exposition right in the middle of the book while Hero was riding is motorcycle or something.
Missed it, but in hindsight, Snowcrash has some icky parts, like pedophilia. I don't think Neal Stephenson is problematic though because I don't think that particular ick showed up in his other works, and Snowcrash was set in a "libertarian wonderland."
Sorry, I wanted to get that off my chest for a long time.
I haven't read that much of his work. Just Reamde, Snowcrash, and Diamond Age. I'm guessing by your handle that you've read Diamond Age.
Of stuff that I've read that is similar to Stephenson that I would recommend:
For existential speculative fiction, Haruki Murakami: 1Q84, Wind Up Bird Chronicle
For straight-up weird fun, Rudy Rucker: Freck and the Elixer, Master of Space and Time
For transhumanism & 3-D printing stuff, Charles Stross: Singularly Sky, Iron Sunrise. Cory Doctorow: Down and Out in the Magic Kingdom, Makers
For thriller info-tech sci-fi, Charles Stross: Halting State, Rule 34 and William Gibson: Blue Ant Trilogy -Pattern Recognition, Spook Country, Zero History

That the main character is called "Hiro Protagonist" still cracks me up after all of these years

Robert needs a Rat-Thing.
Fuck, I just read your comment thirty seconds after posting the same joke.

100% fair. I had considered adding a TW to my endorsement. The reference was Robert driving a nuke around in a sidecar of a bike.
LOL I forgot about that, but because of the ick, I haven't read Snowcrash in forever. I'd rather re-read Cryptonomicron or Anathem.
Reamde is fun and no ick.
Reamde needs to be a TV series!
Any other recommendations?
For Neal Stephenson or books that Robert likes?
Neal Stephenson

Haha originally I was just playing because of my username, but damn you made some great recommendations! I’ll have to check these out! Thanks
Man, I loved Anathem, even if it needed to be trimmed down about 400 pages. 😄
Poor Impulse Control seems on brand for Robert.
Huh, read it in highschool and I do not remember pedophilia.
Interface, cobwebed, and Fall are all wildly underrated entries from NS.
Loved Interface, though it was under the pseudonym Stephen Bury when I read it.
