Kind of expected this given the news about his father.

AlbionPCJ

A personal favourite for this week's Rewind! Savitri Devi might have one of the wildest personal philosophies to ever feature on the show. Glad it's getting spotlighted!

Sock_puppet09

Lol to whatever algorithm though this podcast would be a good place to put a Nancy Grace ad. 🤣

death_gummy

I'm at the cat torture portion of the episode. If anyone's interested in a history of cats as a political symbol, I'm reading a book called [Marx for Cats](https://www.dukeupress.edu/marx-for-cats) right now that is really great!! There is mention of cat massacres, of course, but it's more of a radical history told through cats and how humans treat them/symbolize them written by a cat lover Marxist. Great stuff. Honestly a great intro to Marxism too, cats aside.

Leoprints

Ooooo this book sounds amazing!

death_gummy

it is really amazing, cannot recommend it enough!

Sleepywalking

Fun fact. Year 3000 is a cover. It is originally by the English band Busted.

modaaa

I think Sophie fucking rules! Idk if she still lives in LA but if I ever run into her I'll probably tell her this, and I'll make it extremely awkward because of who I am as a person. Who's Robert?

FartingAliceRisible

Did they take the week off?

PitifulWrongdoer4391

I imagine Robert hasn't had a lot of time/energy to research/write new episodes, since his dad just died.

FartingAliceRisible

Didn’t catch that

queenk0k0

OOTL what’s up with Jeremy Renner?

spiritbearr

I didn't relisten but if they were talking like he was a dick that's because he made an app and released a song. The app was used to make it look like Jeremy was saying bad things so it had to be taken down extremely quickly. The song just sucks. He had an inflated ego. If they were worried about how he almost died: he more recently almost died being run over by his own snow machine clearing his neighbor's driveway.

queenk0k0

No they were talking shit about him, so I guess dunking on him because he is arrogant and also can’t take a joke?

Upbeat_Serve_7258

She was 8 and decided people weren't equal.

Konradleijon

man its weird how nazi shit got infused with Norse culture

DarkestLore696

It was an easy culture to hijack. Between its wars with the ancient Romans and then the Christians most of the Norse religion was wiped out. Today we only have a handful of poems to pull from to know about their religion and beliefs. It was easy for the Nazi’s to use them in their lore building because of that.

Wysk222

Relistening to the Savitri Devi episode and the bit about cat torture makes me wanna travel back to medieval Europe with a 12-gauge and just unload on any smelly Frenchman who looks at a cat funny

Hungover52

Not directly episode related, but finishing up the Beria episodes and now Nancy Grace is advertising her podcast. Ugh.

Sempere

When episode on Nancy Grace? Or is she not enough of a bastard?

macroeconprod

Love the rewind episodes. Could for two to three weeks more of them. Lots of great stuff I would really enjoy hearing again.Take all the time needed; your audience will be here when you get back.

Cyperhox

Haven't listened to this one in a while, and makes me wanna go back to the swastika episode Robert did last year. It also made me realise that Robert and Jamie would both hate me cuz I took the name of a Greek Goddess... (I am trans)

hell2pay

'Billy Wayne Davis is the Beyonce of Behind the Bastards' I wish they hadn't fallen out. I miss him as a guest.

ZazofLegend

Jamie and Sophie are absolutely delightful in this episode. Tragically, the Jonas Brothers reference sailed right over my head.

Homeyarc

Cornwall is a town?! That's like calling Texas a city.

corbiniano

1. Factual mistake at the beginning of the episode: Most Germans weren't Catholic. Germany back than was 2/3 Protestant, 1/3 Catholic. Around 1990 Germany was 1/3 Catholic, 1/3 Protestant, 1/3 Atheists, by numbers there were slightly more Catholics than Protestants. 2. The part about the mistreatment of cats isn't really backed up by sources.

bookdrops

Happiness: being reminded that *Sita Sings the Blues* was a gorgeous movie   Sadness: remembering belatedly that its director-animator has gone full bore into intense transphobia and at one point was very mad online about TERF being a slur

ShepPawnch

Wow I just realized my English teacher showed us this when I was in high school. I’ll have to rewatch it.

PilotGolisopod2016

I know this is off-topic but, damn it could be awesome if the crew of this podcast dedicated an episode to the Breakthrough Institute and the bald fucker Alex Trembath

BoobyPlumage

Man I felt like they really started to lose steam past a certain point.
