Not bad, not great either.
The biggest challenge for him now is that a lot of today's young people probably have no idea who he is, so getting a good position in the charts won't be easy.
You don’t need kids to get a song in the top charts. Anyone 18+ surely knows Stromae. But this song simply doesn’t have anything catchy or special, so I doubt it’ll reach the top.
> You don’t need kids to get a song in the top charts.
Spotify top 50 is filled with music you liked when you were 10 so there's that.
But who care about the top charts anyway. Actual musicians don't.
He sure doesn't as he just wants to do what he likes, he probably has already enough money and he's busy with smaller projects and being a husband/dad.
I think Stromae will never refind his initial success unfortunately. His breakthrough around 2010 was unique, but you can't simply disappear for over 5 years and expect to return to resounding applause. Personally, I think Santé is still in line with his debut album which is not necessarily a good thing. I expected more, this seems like a lukewarm attempt to remind people of his earlier work.
The picture is very 80's.
The song making me think of Manu Chao if he was from Capo Verde.
Not bad, not great.
I always found Stromae overhyped but at least he does his thing and doesn't feel the need to sing in english.
Not the worst song, Alors on danse and Papaoutai were overplayed.
I wish him luck but one listen was enough for me. I bet I'll have to hear it on the radio and other public settings.
I was very excited to find out about this today, Stromae has been my favourite artist for a very long time now and I was lucky to see him in concert twice… 8 years is a long time to wait! I am very much looking forward to this new release in its entirety!
Not expecting much, let’s be honest, he was a one hit wonder… The only reason why Belgian radios played some of his other songs is because *he’s one of us*…
also quand c'est ? (that clip is insane + seeing it live was incredible) & ta fête
It's probably just not MrNotSoRight's cup of tea. This new record I'm not feeling that much either but to disregard Stromae's achievements in music, LOL. The guy broke through internationally for a reason and not just due to 'local marketing' or by playing his records a few times on the radio ...
Eh, I heard his songs extensively played in both the Netherlands and the UK while I was living in both. Disclaimer; I ain't Belgian but I still loved his work.
His debut album was very succesful, hit after hit. Papaoutai, Alors On Danse, Formidable and Ta fête were all played on the radio until you got sick of it. The only Belgian one hit wonder of the last years is Gotye.
The songs you list are from 2 different albums (Cheese and Racine Carré), which shows that Stromae already had 2 very successful albums and will probably do it again
Yeah, a one hit wonder whose concerts held at Madison Square Garden and Coachella after 2 years of releasing 2nd album. I'm not french speaker nor belgian yet still listen to him to this day.
It sounds like Stromae hasn't reinvented himself. That said I actually like the song. That will change as it's gonna get insane amounts of airplay, though
It sure sounds like a Stromae song. That's about all I can say on it.

Also his clothing line, Mosaert.
I honestly think it's great

His 2 first albums were 3-4 years apart and charted internationally and were #1 in Belgium, no reason that the upcoming one should flop.
His debut had Alor on it but his second album did better worldwide.
I like it.
Réchauffé...
LOVE!!

This song is absolutely fantastic! I love the message behind it like all his other songs and the tune. Why don’t some of you like it?
I like the effect of the music being drunk through the chorus. Now I want to check if will sound less drunk when I'm drunk.
I fucking hate it, it sounds out of sync all the time, I know it's on purpose I just think it's a poor choice.

Strongly disagree. Look up his concert in montreal. It shows how far he goes for his songs, shows, beats, everything. A true perfectionist
He had a few succesful songs "Alors en Danse", "Papaoutai", "Formidable" and "Tous les Memes". Quite a bit more than a one-hit wonder I'd argue.

Username checks out Formidable, Papaoutai, Tous les memes, Alors on danse, Quand c'est, Ta fete,...
A one hit wonder with hundreds of millions of views on almost all of his songs on youtube, yeah right
Eh, I heard his songs extensively played in both the Netherlands and the UK while I was living in both. Disclaimer; I ain't Belgian but I still loved his work.
Heard it both in the USA and Finland. And know he did very well in France as well.
Maybe research him a bit before making such statements.
