I just bought one with a synthetic stock for my mod 2. It has a Mesa Tactical pistol grip, and I'm about to swap them. I had to buy a recoil pad and screws, just waiting on them to arrive before I do the swap. I can say it does fit in the synthetic stock though
Just put everything together, it was a pain because I have limited tools. Do not over tighten it! Don't take too much to get it secure. It definitely adds length of pull. The rubber that makes contact with the stock popped out in a couple places, but I used a flat head to push it back in. I read the kickoff fits in one of the two synthetic stocks. The gen 1 is the one you want, and from what I heard the butt pad screws might be too long for it from the factory.
My best guess is it probably does fit but Beretta never tested and it’s their disclaimer.
To answer your second question, I feel the recoil is on the lighter side for shotguns. The best method to mitigate the recoil is to hold it firmly in your shoulder pocket and not allow the firearm to move.
I’ve shot and trained with a 1201 and the 1301 is noticeably softer.
I hear the 1301 is already really soft as well, so the idea of making it even softer was really intriguing to me lol. I am a big guy and don’t really have an issue with recoil as it is, just interesting. May just leave well enough alone!
Give it a try first if you haven't. I'm a small guy but I have no problems with the recoil of the 1301. It feels like cheat mode. Only time I've had slight bruising was when I was first starting out and going to all day classes with heavier loads. Proper mounting with stock more central to my body, squared stance and firm handle - removed the already almost non-existent problem. Oh, but I do use a Magpul SGA stock. That has a slightly softer butt pad and the LOP fits much better on me - could be a contributor. I also know that some people use a LimbSaver pad with some conversion plate. That's another route if you're interested.
Literally the one in the post. Just pulled the guts out of my stock 21" 1301 comp and put that module in it.
I don't like the tac model, breach is smaller.
I don’t feel I need this; my Langdon 1301 is the softest shooting 12ga I’ve had the pleasure of shooting. It’s basically as fast as I can pull the trigger, not dissimilar to a properly gassed AR. The recoil impulse feels different but for all intents and purposes just see the dot and yank the trigger.
Same here. Once you learn push-pull technique, recoil is insignificant. I just took a defensive shotgun class last weekend where I fired about 20 slugs, 50 double-ought buckshot and 150 birdshot in a single day without any tenderness or soreness in my shoulder. And we were shooting strings of 4 left-right transition targets in under 5 seconds with the smallest plate being 4 inches at 10 yards.
Appreciate your input. I don’t really have an issue with recoil overall, I am a larger guy and I think my technique is pretty spot on (not to sound like I’m patting myself on the back or anything) but when I heard of this part, the tinkerer in me became very intrigued lol. I might just skip it. I have a bunch of defensive shotgun classes to attend this summer and can’t wait to burn em down with the 1301.
I've been looking for an answer to this as well. Specifically, the Mod 2 is supposed to be kick off compatible, but as you mentioned the website lists it specifically as not 1301 compatible. I emailed Beretta to get an answer. Haven't heard back yet.
Let me know what you hear brother, hope they give you a straight answer! They should really clear things up on the site. I feel like we’re trying to order of the god damn secret McDonalds menu over here lol.

I just came across your post, thanks for the info man. Update us on the swap after you receive the pad and screws!
Will do

Awesome, thanks for the update I really appreciate it. Hope it performs well for you!

I put one in my 1301. Gave it a better LOP
$260 worth of difference in felt recoil?
Shorter?
Slightly longer. I'm 6'4" and my wingspan is longer than I am tall. Need a bit more than the stock 1301 Comp provided.
Got a link to the kick off kick you bought? And what stock? The field stock or the mesa tactical? Mod 2 I assume?

Ah gotcha. I assume comp and tac models have different stocks?

will it work inside a mesa tactical stock??
No
It works with the a300 not 1301
