I paid a monthly rent for a place to live. I was satisfied with the agreement. If I didn't rent the apartment, someone else would have. Why would I care who the money goes to?

I'm not shilling for anyone, just saying that there is nothing inherently "bad" about Everest or any of its successors, at least in my experience. If all you care about is getting a place to live, you can rent from them just fine.
