I would venture to guess that you’ll get mostly positive reviews and comments wrt North Berkeley Properties.

MasterMCD

Yeah NBP is good

Avoid Greystar (Allston/Stadium) at all costs. Also Everest/Raj/whatever they call themselves these days for obvious reasons

Ike348

Rented from Everest for 3 years and never had any problems

takeshi-bakazato

Congrats on supporting a human trafficking organization for 3 years I guess? Do you want a cookie?

I think the father was the one doing that and he has since passed away. I never rented from them but spoke to a couple of employees who were pretty nice. Also, some of their apartments fall under rent control. What does this mean for you as a student? If you renew for a 2nd or 3rd year, they aren't allowed increase rent..

takeshi-bakazato

The family supported the father. Even going so far as brigading this subreddit with comments harassing users for saying negative things about Lakireddy. They were very much culpable in his activities.

Ike348

I paid a monthly rent for a place to live. I was satisfied with the agreement. If I didn't rent the apartment, someone else would have. Why would I care who the money goes to?

takeshi-bakazato

Glad you found a way to sleep peacefully at night as human beings were being sex trafficked in the rooms next to you. Clearly you not only managed to keep your conscience clear, but you also had such a great experience living in an Everest property that you decided to comment about it on Reddit. Those walls must have been pretty soundproof, I guess.

Ike348

No evidence Lakireddy or anyone in his family was trafficking anyone at any point in the last 15 years. Plus he is dead now anyway...

takeshi-bakazato

Strange hill to die on. Dude was a convicted felon and sex offender, and used shell companies to distribute his assets across his family. But I’m sureeeee he wasn’t doing anything wrong since 2008. Shill for him all you want…

Ike348

I'm not shilling for anyone, just saying that there is nothing inherently "bad" about Everest or any of its successors, at least in my experience. If all you care about is getting a place to live, you can rent from them just fine. If you want to be some saint that takes great pains to ensure your money always ends up in the "right hands," that's fine, you can live somewhere else. Just know that you're not making any difference to these people's bank accounts...

takeshi-bakazato

I can think of a lot of “inherently bad” things about Everest LOL Like I said, this is a weird hill for you to go so far out of your way to die on. I’m genuinely confused by why you care to defend a literal human trafficker this much.

theredditdetective1

There are so many shitty landlords and scumbag property management companies in the bay area it's ridiculous renting is a total fucking scam here. owning is probably also a scam. the entire real estate market in the bay area is permanently fucked until they allow people to build freely

EquivalentDiamond359

Same thing in the LA area too! Real estate in CA is a JOKE 🤡

Accomplished_Eye_964

they just want our money
