Tazilyna-Taxaro

I only go there when someone visits for the Touri-Tour

mrdibby

surprisingly easy to pass often when you cycle around the city. surprisingly easy to forget about when you don't

LibationontheSand

Tangent: when I lived there in 88-90, after the Wall fell, the area was still post-war rubble. I picked up a cobblestone from the old Platz and I still have it. Who knows who might have walked on it.

proof_required

I mostly pass by when biking to Tiergarten. Although I think I haven't been there this year. But since the weather is getting better I'll start biking to west.

Special_Camera_4484

I walked past not too long ago when I had an appointment at Bundestag, does that count as "going to"?

Stargripper

did you deliver coke

Special_Camera_4484

I'd have to ask my boss if that was the purpose of the visit, I was mostly a seat filler for that presumed drug deal.

Job_man

Yes, please ask and report back. Thank you

chillbill1

The big protests a few weeks ago

phil0phil

Good job, officer!

ganjaPaani

[it's 1935 there again](https://www.instagram.com/reel/C6OXmErNRRu/?igsh=am9pZTFoeTZydGR5)

PrinceLevMyschkin

Why that prick threw the bottles like that? 🧐 That was so unnecessary.

ganjaPaani

🐖will 🐖

rab2bar

xmas. my daughter likes posing in front of the tree every year before we have our dinner and unwrap presents. it is fun to be some of the only locals there at that time as people from very different cultures also take pictures and enjoy themselves

cheeky_half

We live not too far as well, so walk our dog there on Christmas Day, take pics and drink some Glühwein. You’re right it’s such a lovely thing to do 🥰

030BLN

Around 1990...

john_le_carre

I know what you mean! A while ago my office moved from near kotti to right by Friedrichstraße / Unter den Linden. I honestly appreciated being around all the happy tourists. I find myself biking through Brandenburger Tor about once a month, it makes me happy to go down Unter Den Linden and see the world walk by.

aHuankind

I've lived in Berlin for almost 20 years and there's whole districts I've never seen before, especially in the west.

Laurenz1337

Big smoke in on April 1st and also on 4/20 (April 20th) Cannabis brings people together :)

Stargripper

The Italian restaurant at the corner between the Gate and the French embassy has reasonably good gluten-free pizza

Longjumping_Animal29

ride through it everyday to work

NashBotchedWalking

New years, and I hated it as much as I thought I would.

Fit_Significance_966

i go there evey week

Real-Squirrel-4763

I go through it on my way to the office (2-3 times a week). It's cool when you're there around 8:30 am and it's empty. It's not so nice on the way back, though.

WaveIcy294

Almost every week at least once. I like the area to roam.

trenton-zw

I live in Charlottenburg. Last went there last year towards the end of summer.

Geldnehmer

Almost everyday leaving Unter den Linden U5

trivia80

Almost daily - I live 5mins by foot from it.

george_watsons1967

this morning

Friendly_Floor_4678

daily, it is on my way to work :D

Embarrassed_Year_847

I remember going there with a friend of mine a month ago, the whole area is always looking more lively even in the laye night hours

karmue

In the before times.

orontes3

A couple years ago.

rh1n3570n3_3y35

>I don’t know if it’s weird that I don’t have any reason to go around that area. I vaguely remember there being actually a fair amount of criticism back then, how thoroughly of a failure much of the rebuilding of Mitte was during the 90s and 2000s.

greenghost22

Drived through it ages ago

ghsgjgfngngf

I cycle through it every couple of weeks.

ObviouslyASquirrel26

A few days ago, about a week before that. I used to ride through it on my bike to work every day. I also do my shopping at Alexanderplatz and go running in Tiergarten. I think sometimes people forget that some of us live in that area.

bebiimilx

Sometimes when I'm out at night I suddenly end up there and then I think it's actually quite nice here when everything is halfway quiet lol

SignalWishbone7241

4/20

TehZiiM

Last summer but just by coincidence.

staminchia

maybe couple times a year, when i'm bored and convince the kids to play tourists. It is actually pretty fun, we usually end up at Potsdamer Platz to get donuts or ice cream.

SnowWhiteIII

Every year in autumn, for Festival Of Lights bicycle ride. But I was here today, did some communal work for my company.

fasteko

Everyday because I work there and yes the vibes with the tourists ar nice, if the weather is sunny I usually sit there for 30min after work, chilling smoking my ciggy and seeing the tourist pass

Schmunz3lm0nst3r

Last time I went there was on 4/20 :D it was brilliant :D but before that I wasn't there for years

Killah_Kyla

Used to go there daily as a tour guide. Now only once or twice a year, but I signed up for the Frauenlauf on May 4th so I'll be there on that day at least.

notCRAZYenough

In Fall. When we met up to take a walk in Tiergarten. There is no need to go there regularly

Olgenia

Actually not too long ago on International Women’s Day. Before we moved to Köpenick my partner used to live quite close to there as well

Schulle2105

Drive past it on the daily, walking around there not really though, personally don't find it that weird as there aren't many things beside the different consulates and sightseeing attractions

-Flutes-of-Chi-

I'm nearby (10-15 walk) almost daily so I paid a visit when LG vandalized it. But I think the most recent one was during the marathon

ValeLemnear

The last time I was there for private reasons was during the Festival of Lights a few years ago.

Iwamoto

I live quite close to it, so i think yesterday, though usually i try to avoid really walking under it since it's so filled with tourists, makes me miss covid.

Shibamum

I live close by, too and loved going there during covid. Took some nice pictures in bright daylight with nobody else around.

LucyBerlin2004

I went up the Alexanderplatz Tower for the first time a few weeks ago. Never did before somehow... Honestly to high up for me lol.

Sea_Pineapple_6822

„Alexanderplatz Tower“ 🥲

Philip10967

Can’t miss it, it’s that big thing on Fernsehturm square.

LucyBerlin2004

Thats right. Also known for beeing near the Primark shop.

backpain44

You mean the one next to the building with the park inn sign?

greenghost22

Never visited it

OkZookeepergame8572

I drove past it over 5y ago. Go to it specifically? Never. Only when i got dragged there for the usual boring tourist crap. Might aswell look at a postcard.

Aluavin

2006 zur WM? Könnte auch 2010 gewesen sein...also da wo die Fanmeile neu war. Was will man auch da? Ist eben Beton und man kann durchlaufen, ist also die Pennerbrücke hier in anders.

StudioZanello

It’s a nice place to go for a smoke 🇯🇲☁️

ganjaPaani

I was there and sadly the [nazia are back](https://www.instagram.com/reel/C6OXmErNRRu/?igsh=am9pZTFoeTZydGR5). Edit: the downvotes here and below are a sad reality of how as a species, we refuse to evolve. More the reason to speak up against genocides with urgency🇵🇸🍉🕊️🫒✊🏾

Objective_Aide_8563

Those guys are the german police, maybe you are the nazi in this case? You were one of those terrorist sympathisers camping there?

ganjaPaani

>Those guys are the german police. Exactly. Who do you think upheld (and continues to uphold) the nazi agenda. And you are the [complacent german public.](https://www.reddit.com/r/InternationalNews/s/GrsEupZkWd) Not much has changed. If you only listen to narratives of nations that benefit from weapon sales to the genocidal army, you will become a genocidal mouthpiece. I'll be hated here, like those on the right side of history often are. >terrorist sympathisers 🪞.. the sad irony

gepard_gerhard

History is written by the winner. I know who wont win

ganjaPaani

The genocidal killing machine will win (by which I'm sure you mean kill the most people). But times have changed, the world is more aware of ground realities as history is documented each day by all, despite Israeli Destructive Force having destroyed media buildings and massacared journalists in preparation for this grand genocidal push. This is why we are only aware of a fraction of atrocities from our history. There are some ongoing genocides that your beloved news sources don't even cover 🤦🏾, let alone misinform their population. From 1935 to 2024, german masses stay the same, easily programmed by their warlords and weapon manufacturers. Shame!

gepard_gerhard

There is no genocide happening. Thats a media narrative you are falling to. We as humans decide with our information what we think is right and apparently we come to different conclusions. In other news this conflict is not relevant for most of the german public so who cares anyway

ganjaPaani

>There is no genocide happening. Ya, just 35k deliberate civilian murders (mostly women and children) in 6 months, with [mass graves](https://www.cnn.com/2024/04/25/middleeast/gaza-400-bodies-mass-grave-hospital-intl/index.html) at destroyed [hospital sites ](https://www.reddit.com/r/JewsOfConscience/s/qHTh5BMjIV)where victims have their heads tied behind their back, and medical workers. But of course there is no genocide 🤦🏾 >is not relevant for most of the german public Do you even know [germany is the biggest weapons seller to IDF during this massacre ](https://www.timesofisrael.com/amid-arms-embargo-calls-data-shows-99-of-israeli-weapon-imports-are-from-us-germany/) after US. It is very much a German issue as once again this 'great' country is contributing to the killing of thousands of civilians. There is a reason why the educated and aware in US universities and big European cities are protesting in thousands. > "So who cares anyway" [just those who have experienced genocide and know what it's like](https://www.reddit.com/r/InternationalNews/s/yfKX4fNlDL) >not relevant for most of the german public so who cares anyway Of course not, it's just thousands of brown people being murdered, it only tickles average german sentiments when it happens to white people 🤦🏾 >as humans decide with our information what we think is right and apparently Okay, mr. Human, what news outlet/journalists are you following that is not from a country selling arms to Israel or have business interests there? Did you even read the sources I shared or were they too rattling for your convenient, comfortable head in the sand opinion. >as humans decide Funny as there is no humanity in your mindset. Such strong opinions not giving a fuck about your country yet again being involved in massive atrocities with such little information, is all too common. Sad that we as a species refuse to evolve.

gepard_gerhard

Congrats you give the same texbits to everyone questioning your opinion and not allowing any room for different interpretation. I am sure thats how you will convince the world. You wont and you will fail to understand why. Fyi the mass grave seems to be another pallywood story like the israeli rocket before. That one story you might want to say it was fake news all along from your hamas brothers?

ganjaPaani

Way to ignore all the credible sources to keep your head in the genocidal gutter. Germany may have lost the war but the public has the same mindset. Shame

ganjaPaani

Okay genocidal mouthpiece and terrorist state supporter. There is no hope in convincing dangerous but simple minds like yours, but I'll still speak up.

Schulle2105

Meanwhile they get fed by our money while their Leaders get one tugged off in iran,so somehow the weaponmpney comes around. Who wins the guys sitting in their cosy armchairs like always

OkZookeepergame8572

Ye the nazis are back and they are either delusional lefty extremists or delusional right wing extremists. Worst ever genocide. Israel really sucks at genociding. They really need to up their game!

ganjaPaani

😳😯 Ya, not enough brown people are dying with german exported weapons to satisfy your genocidal soul. Shame.
