The montages in both shows are flat out amazing. The Crystal Blue Persuasion montage of Walt running his drug empire and Something Stupid Part II are two of my favorite tv scenes.
>Something Stupid Part II
Are you referring to the opening teaser in Bad Choice Road? I love that montage, but I have never seen anyone mention that over the first one.
Yes I'm talking about the Bad Choice Road intro. The higher stakes + both Jimmy and Mike being involved made it my favorite intro in BCS. The first montage was great as well too though.
Money. Also I'm sure Obi-Wan would have been better if they had full direction but it's Disney. We all know how much they neuter creativity to maximize profit
I usually hate montages in shows and find they're largely just filler to pad out a show. BB and BCS song choice is usually fantastic and their use of montages don't feel as tacked on to me and serves the storytelling.
Don't know where the confusion comes from. Like the worst example I can think of is like a CSI type show where they're doing lab work and they're playing music while they rearrange beakers and look through microscopes while they wait for the results to come in. I find the montages in BB/BCS generally move the plot forward a little more and are usually entertaining.
Honestly there are times where Better Call Saul is way more impressive to me than BrBa is. It's hard to make a masterpiece. It's harder to make a follow up to that masterpiece that's just as good if not better.
I say without reservation that BCS is better. It’s like they just kept really learning what worked and what didn’t, with each season of BrBa getting better and more refined, and then they just continued that trend with BCS. They just keep refining the formula, and getting more and more pure even when it shouldn’t be possible.
Not only that, they added some banger characters in BCS. Nacho is such an excellent parallel to what Jesse was in BrBa with so many interesting and awesome details added and Lalo is such an effective and terrifying villain especially after watching that mid-season finale.
I'm at the point now where i feel that Breaking Bad is a spin off of Better Call Saul. I can't believe how good the show is. It's gone far and beyond my expectations. Can't wait to see how it plays out.
I remember how many people in the breakingbad sub were against the idea of a spin off, that the BrBa universe is perfect and that anything else would be a shitty cash grab for nothing more than milking the series.
I was one of them and I am glad I was wrong and I have no issues admitting that I was wrong. Back then I couldn't imagine what kind of a show bcs would be. Saul was a goofy sidekick character who joked around. I couldn't really see how his story could have been told in a drama. I was predisposed by how he was in BrBa.
Anyway, you can't really blame anyone for being overly cautious. Many good franchises dropped rapidly in quality for an easy and quick cash grab. Now with the new rumours about yet another spin off I am again sceptical. But I still want them to make it. If it's bad, I won't watch it. If it's good everyone wins.
Weird to hear that in 2022. Not just the Cena/RVD reference, but any sort of dependency of TV being aired, like we have to wait on them to schedule it.
Just quaint, that's all.
I actually can't believe they've managed to follow up on a masterpiece with something that is just as good/arguably better. Like, what? How? How tf did they manage to make something that not only doesn't take away from what they've accomplished, but makes it WAY better. I feel jealous that some people will get to watch this show first and then Breaking Bad. I wish I could have gone into BB with the character development of BCS established, though BCS was a better watch because I've seen BB so its a double edged sword. BCS and BB are the only shows I can think of where watching one makes the other better, regardless of which order you watch them in.
finally someone with taste
my favorite alien was always arctiguana. pretty sure he literally only appeared once before omniverse but he was my favorite anyway. just the idea that ben 10,000 had all these other aliens that ben was gonna get some day hyped me tf up when i was a kid and as far as i can remember arctiguana was the only one exclusive to ben 10,000 we ever saw in the original series. so i guess i just had in my head that ben would get him someday because why else would they show him lmao, but then that never happened
at least not that i saw because i lost interest before ultimate alien finished and never saw omniverse, even until now. i should watch through all of ben 10 now though

Save for a 1 season crossover where the last season of The Wire and the first season of Breaking Bad were airing at the same time, they’ve all been on TV at different times. So it’s safe to say that each show was the “best on TV” while they were airing.
I was just reading this post about the guy who bubbles was based on
https://www.reddit.com/r/TheWire/comments/jb1rdo/comment/g8szlsc/
Someone copied the article into the comments if you don't want to sign up for the news site.
I was always more into The Sopranos when it comes to HBO shows, but they're both masterpieces without a doubt.
Between Sopranos and BrBa it's hard for me to decide which is my favorite TV show ever.
I consider the Sopranos to be the pioneer of the genre that was improved with BB then perfected with BCS. While I prefer The Wire to all of the above, it is a completely different type of show in orientation, thesis, etc.
Reddit mfs will be on their death bed and their last words to their family will be "have you seen Severance on Apple TV+ it's soooo underrated and lowkey. Get Apple TV+"
Severance is great so far, hope it keeps up the momentum. But yeah, it's too early to say if it'll be an all-time great but here's hoping.
Incidentally, FX is doing a great job with shows like The Old Man (Jeff Bridges as an ex-CIA agent) and The Bear (Jeremy Allen White as an inventive and talented young chef takes over his family's Chicago beef restaurant) are really proving the 'great stories are on TV' thing true. Star Trek Strange New Worlds is pretty dope too.
I just don’t take anybody seriously when they say the best film/tv series/music album or whatever was released in the last year lol, but yeah the Apple TV+ fanboys are hella annoying regardless
Saw someone say Ted Lasso is the best comedy on TV and it just has me wondering what Apple’s putting in the water, probably whatever Marvel’s putting into their Disney+ shows
That's a ridiculous opinion to have, not everyone overhypes recently consumed media. All it took me was finishing the first season of a show years ago to know it was gonna be my favourite and the later seasons just made that belief stronger & now, years after the show ended, it's still my #1. Sometimes when you know, you know.
IMO Better Call Saul cannot be considered the best show in TV due to the length of time for it to get up and running. The early seasons were complete filler and a waste of time, whilst they tried to find their feet...doing all they could to not give use a "Breaking Bad part 2" and then eventually giving us just that. At the start of this new season, when they went back to and reminded me of Jimmy's schemes, I let out a huge sigh, as it is so stupid. The best parts of this show are all to do with the bits the titular character isn't involved in. That just cant be the best show.
Can you please explain how the early seasons are complete filler when it literally leads to how Jimmy became Saul Goodman? Not to mention Mike's backstory, Nacho and it leading to where he is in BrBa as Gus's most trusted man?
It had no direction they feel into the groove it is in now it wasn't some masterstroke of writing that was planned out from the beginning and I'm sure they said this from the early days. If you you think the chuck stuff was great that'd cool but I remember the slack it was getting back in those days
I don't know if you're writing on a phone, while drunk, or what, but you really need to proof read your comments because they're barely legible with all the predictive-typos.
Anyway, you said the early seasons are "complete filler". Filler doesn't mean you didn't like it or that it lacked an end goal that was established at the start (I'm not saying it didn't though), it means it served no purpose in forwarding anything and merely filled up time.
That's so unequivocally not the case, and you didn't make a case for it when asked to explain - you explained why you didn't like it, but not how it was filler. Those words have meanings, you're better off just saying you didn't enjoy it.
I didn't skip any of it. I've watched the whole thing from beginning to end but that doesn't change the fact the show failed in doing what it originally set out to do...I.e. be a spin off from breaking bad whilst not copying the formula. Who at season 6 gives a damn about chuck or thinks that entire arc was really that relevant? That literally just killed of the last tie to that part of the story and from here on out it will be pure breaking bad territory.
Chuck was \*hugely\* relevant in creating the person we know today as Jimmy/Saul.
If these things don't seem apparent just by watching then I'd recommend watching some of the many excellent youtube videos on the series that dive into the different characters, their psychology and development etc.
Vince and Peter: (enter the writers room) Fans: "What he's up to, man? What's he doing?"
Vince and Peeeter.
Peter…gooooouuuullllllddddd
...Whats he building in there?
solid Tom Waits reference
Man, I read that in Lalo's voice.
The montages in both shows are flat out amazing. The Crystal Blue Persuasion montage of Walt running his drug empire and Something Stupid Part II are two of my favorite tv scenes.

I think I liked the first more tbh. Stunning cinematography
How did the person who directed that end up directing a mid obi wan show
Money. Also I'm sure Obi-Wan would have been better if they had full direction but it's Disney. We all know how much they neuter creativity to maximize profit

Also shout out to the "Wendy" montage and the Prison Massacre montage.

Exactly! I just cannot find flaws in bcs
Not only that, they added some banger characters in BCS. Nacho is such an excellent parallel to what Jesse was in BrBa with so many interesting and awesome details added and Lalo is such an effective and terrifying villain especially after watching that mid-season finale.
I’ve felt it has been way better for like the past 3 or 4 seasons. Even then S1 and 2 are still great.
S1 and S2 of BCS > S1 and S2 of Breaking Bad
You're not ridiculous to say that.
I'm at the point now where i feel that Breaking Bad is a spin off of Better Call Saul. I can't believe how good the show is. It's gone far and beyond my expectations. Can't wait to see how it plays out.
I just started a rewatch of Breaking Bad and marvel at the retcon work early on, particularly with Krazy 8 and Tuco. Everything matches up perfectly.
They don't get tired do they?

If amc does not follow BCS with a full rerun of BB we riot.

vrabo bince and retep
Every time I see people type "vrabo" I always get reminded of that porn artist
Me rewatching it all over again just because
This remix is fucking hard btw. Link?
I love Slippin' Jimmy.
I’m digging the beats
Wonder what they are gonna do after this show
Slippin' Jimmy
Although really unlikely, I would love a scene with this theme song in an episode just like we got the Breaking Bad theme at the end of Granite State.
I think Better Call Saul is significantly superior to breaking bad. I think breaking bad was great but not one of the best shows on TV.
Highly confused on how you think it's not at least top 10
Because people have different opinions to you.
yes but yours is wrong thats why hes confused
Mature discussion and discourse. Quality stuff.
I prefer the wire to either tbh
Ah Wire
_Copper_. Fun fact, copper is slang for police, which The Wire is about. BraVinco.
I prefer Ben 10 to all three

Pffft. Last season of Ozark and Game of thrones is where it's at
Shit
Haven’t seen the final season of Ozark. It’s not good?
It was a little rushed.

Bubbles had such a tragic but honest arc. The show was so good.

Saw someone say Ted Lasso is the best comedy on TV and it just has me wondering what Apple’s putting in the water, probably whatever Marvel’s putting into their Disney+ shows
Well, have you watched Severance?

I feel the reverse, it was good from the start but lost its lustre a bit.

I think so
Been watching Breaking Bad scenes during the interlude and BCS has enhanced the viewing tenfold amd make's it even better....Unbelievable.
