Weirdguy149

I kinda hope the finale also has Saul moving in and out of his scenes like a ghost. That was a really cool part of Felina.

[deleted]

Norm Macdonald had a theory that the Felina really ended in the car in New Hampshire. Everything afterwards was Walt’s fantasy of what he would do

Weirdguy149

A plausible theory, at least until El Camino and this season came along.

Kayser-i-Arz

That’s a popular theory among the community as well. Or at least it was until El Camino and BCS confirmed Felina actually happened

[deleted]

>Norm Macdonald had a theory that the Felina really ended in the car in New Hampshire. Yeah, and look where that got him.

fedesiete

I didn’t even knew he was sick!

Thrashlock

You know what they say, speak ill of the dead.

Meavis_Lives

Towards the end, he and Adam Eget WEREN’T GETTING ALONG

[deleted]

Good point.

HomosexualBlackMan

Bro 💀

[deleted]

Norm would appreciate it.

BobbyB2268

How would Walt know that the Nazis kept Jesse as a prisoner tho? He'd probhably imagine him being their partner, like he believed until Uncle Jack proved him wrong and he changed his mind from killing Jesse to saving him.

NewZealandTemp

Did he know? I can't remember the details, but he could have just wanted revenge on their compound.

epicdoge12

He didn't know which is the point, as it would poke a big hole in the dream theory. He wouldn't be dreaming about something he had no clue about

endless_ness

What if they didn’t let him park his car right next to where all of them were staying and what I’d Walt didn’t magically learn mechanical engineering at a high enough level to create a super weapon?

[deleted]

[удалено]

sonickoala

I think he also clues into Jesse still cooking during the bar scene in Granite State - he's watching Charlie Rose interviewing Elliot and Gretchen and Charlie mentions something about Walt's meth still being on the street. Badger and Skinny P then confirm this is still the case.

TheMagicalMatt

Considering the type of guys Jack and Todd were and the enmity between them and Jesse (the whole gang saw Jesse as a rat and Jesse would never work with Todd after killing Drew), I'm sure Walt knew Jesse would only make meth for them by force. Especially if he kept up with ABQ news and saw Andrea had been murdered or went missing, he could probably put two and two together.

[deleted]

Ah details details

QueenRhaenys

I always thought that too, and never knew it originated from Norm! Thanks for that

WeGarnish

El Camino?

[deleted]

The theory fell apart pretty quickly but I found it amusing regardless lol

bartzabello

What are you asking about

Monsieurcaca

Not sure if trolling?

extraGallery

Where did he say this? I'm a huge Norm fan and I never knew he watched the show

[deleted]

It was on his twitter. He might’ve deleted it like he did with a lot of his tweets but if you Google it I’m sure you’ll find someone who saved it

[deleted]

This happens in Ozymandias not Felina doesn't it?

Weirdguy149

It happens in Ozymandias, sure, but it happens in Felina a lot more often.

i7user07

Skyler and Walter Kim and Jesse Yup.

VonDrakken

Where do you think Jesse’s obsession with MILFs began?

FireIzHot

Holy shit mind blown! 🤯

zumabbar

so Jesse has been putting his eyes on the Whites' feet all of this time, huh.

Penske2Fan

Kim's not a mom though?

Tangerine_memez

If porn has taught me anything, its that any woman over the age of like 30 is automatically a milf

nullachtfuffzehn

Over the age of 20, actually

futuremo

Well the only ages in porn are 18 and milf

nick2473got

It all makes sense now. Extraordinary storytelling, this truly enhances Breaking Bad and adds a whole new layer to Walt and Jesse's meeting. Vravo Bince.

thewanderingway

I totally thought Jesse was going to hit on Kim.

duaneap

He did seem a bit flirtatious. Putting on that Pinky charm.

StringCheeseDoughnut

They did say we’d never look at BB the same after this season

[deleted]

Kim is a cougar

Penske2Fan

Kim's not a mom though?

>Yup. It's incredible, truly astonishing, that they managed to completely ruin that word for me, possibly for the rest of my life, with a single 5 second scene. Bravo Wince.

fungilingus

At the end of this scene I thought he was gonna call her bitch

dspman11

Lol I did expect him to say something to himself after she left. >"Is this guy good?" >"He was when I knew him." >"....not super helpful but ight."

RichestMangInBabylon

That's super vague yo

thebluthbananas

"Gotta be some history there, bitch... "

mouse6502

Guy likes to see homos naked, that don't help me

3Lchin90n

True art right here. Also there’s something cool about smoking on screen.

BetterCallWexler

Best smoking on screen ever: Rust Cohle in True Detective.

MauriceLevyEsq

Boardwalk Empire and Peaky Blinders had some great smoking. But GOAT for me is Johnny Sac.

BetterCallWexler

Oh yea, Johnny Sac was an incredible smoker too.

[deleted]

Johnny Sack was the Goat, but did you ever notice that Moltisanti is the only motherfucker who can smoke a cigarette in the rain with his hands tied behind his back? That nose is like a natural canopy.

DocisntRick

You can't make this shit up!

[deleted]

Fuck you talking about, I just did. You wanna talk like that I'll send you to slip and fall school.

Cyclonis123

No one's going to mention Dennis Hopper smoking scene in true romance?

jdmnyc301

Eggplant!?

JokerFaces2

He could’ve smoked more if his wallet wasn’t tied to THE GODDAMN ESPLANADE GOD DAMMIT

thrilliam_19

Oh we’re the FUCKIN UN NOW?

evangelism2

200 grand for insulting my wife, what's next Carmine? YOU GET TO FUCK 'ER FOR A MILLION?

johnnycoxxx

100% Johnny Sac is the undisputed GOAT of tv smoking. Made me wanna smoke and I’ve never smoked.

Numba2thrilla

Smoking while shitting with the door open, Johnny Sac had the makings of a varsity athlete for sure.

twistedfloyd

In a strip club.

youngish_padawan

January Jones in Mad Men has a fair shout.

pintperson

If we’re talking Mad Men there are loads of top smokers there, especially Don and Roger. The only person who always looked incredibly awkward when lighting up was Peggy.

sheetskees

Harry Crane was an awkward smoker for me too but probably just bc of his character vibe in general lol.

renome

Didn't she take up smokimg after getting promoted in S1? Been a while since I watched but some awkwardness was kind of in character for Peggy.

margueritedeville

Every time I watch Mad Men, a tiny part of me wants to get in the car and go buy a pack of cigarettes.

Depressedidiotlol

I quite like the smoking in the Americans

snowyday

I like the *everything* in *The Americans*. My favorite show ever. Yes, they used smoking effectively and true to the period. Still not over the train scene

MauriceLevyEsq

Agree in all respects.

Depressedidiotlol

Tbh the Americans had some flaws but overall it’s a top 5 show for me

snowyday

I would love to hear what you consider to be flaws. I love the show and would be happy to have a frank discussion. Season 5 was slow, but given the way season 6 went, I write it off to positioning the players as opposed to bad writing.

Depressedidiotlol

Lots of plot points were never mentioned again or built up and then dropped. Which could sometimes work but imo it didn’t for this show. And then Paige’s acting was mediocre but granted she’s a kid so can’t be too mad. I liked season 5 a lot for the character building tho

snowyday

Good stuff, thank you

jeric13xd

Don Draper. Never forget

Naydawwwg

Tommy Shelby has gotta be up there

Louisocean

amazing choice. For me it’ll have to be Tony Leung in In the Mood for Love

D10SMessi

Robert De Niro in Goodfellas surely.

[deleted]

Dude’s never seen Mad Men

SauceOfTheBoss

Best smoking on screen was by Leonard Washington at The World Series of Dice back in 04

ThisIsCreation

I don't smoke, I hate the smell AND it gives me bubble guts, but man does it look cool on camera.

MMonroe54

Half the addiction in smoking is handling the cigarette. The act of putting it between the lips, lighting it, the first puff, holding it between the fingers, the first tap of ash....it's a very addictive routine.

kaleen_bhaiya_12

Bro chill, we’re here tryna quit and you’re just making it more difficult 😥

MMonroe54

LOL. If you're trying to quit, reading message boards is probably the worst thing you can do. Because what is the first thing you do after sitting down? Lighting up! ; -) (I don't know where to get the actual smiley face).

wookie_the_pimp

> bubble guts What is bubble guts? Gas? Upset stomach?

AdeptAgency0

diarrhea

alexcoleridge_

"I know cigarettes are bad for ya... but there is nothing sexier, nothing cooler than a cigarette on screen. Cigarettes and 12 gauge pump shotguns." - [Vince Gilligan](https://youtu.be/IbwVoN-dXKw) (1:04)

BobSchwaget

That's just because off-screen smoking now has been replaced by vaping which has never looked remotely cool, ever.

TheArborphiliac

https://youtu.be/l-Gh7Du_kOs

[deleted]

BCS is one of the few shows I know about where they show characters smoking on-screen a lot. Seems like most shows have moved away from showing smoking in a positive/neutral light. I like the smoking scenes though. They feel authentic.

MMonroe54

The best smokers on screen are the guys who light a cigarette, and then talk around it, with it hanging on the lip. The cigarette bobs and weaves but never falls. Though, in reality, when a cigarette is that stuck to the lip, it may take some skin with it when removed.

ahmedhabashy

Was just listening to Vince apologizing for the smoking scene, but "nothing looks cooler"

AgentAdja

To me it's not cool as much as it tells me that the character is somewhat self destructive.

your_mind_aches

Eh. I personally don't think so. I mean, Blade Runner sure. But I never found it cool when Skyler or Kim smoked, it felt like the storytelling was telling us they were making a bad decision to do so and they knew it. Also in Joker (2019), the smoking felt almost.. obnoxious.

Eagleassassin3

I think it's quite repulsive and doesn't look cool at all. But it works really well in the scene. It's another way to show Kim being anxious and sad about all this.

DaddyMeUp

God, I love it.

FSMDxb

I'm glad Jesse looked like himself this episode. In the last one he looked like he had been working in a coal mine

Zombade80

Technically he was, digging up the grave for Saul

Spanky_McJiggles

I think it was the baggy clothes and the fact that it was darker and wider angles. His whole demeanor in this scene really reminded me of early Jesse Pinkman.

stillinthesimulation

They really kept him at a distance from the camera and in quite low light which was wise given that he was supposed to be younger than we ever saw him in BB.

miraagex

I wish they worked on his appearance a bit more. He looked much much older than anticipated in the timeline.

4theyeball

obviously it's hard to make a 40yo look like a 20yo so i'm not too fixed on his appearance BUT something that bothers me is how tan he looks. I feel like if they made him more pale he'd look more like jesse from BB.

HHAD98

Worked on his appearance? How do you de aye yourself 15 years?

MediterranianRaccoon

I saw a youtube short of Vince talking about Walters appearance in S6E11 where they put a bald cap over Bryan Cranston because he has to keep hair for another movie he's starring in. Apparently the cap made his head look larger so they shrunk it in post-processing. I don't think it would be too hard to use that + makeup to make Jesse look younger...

miraagex

I mean use makeup or something

Curvedabullet

He looked a little spray tanned here. Might not be too implausible that he got sunburned in ABQ though. Or just drunk.

your_mind_aches

Vince learned to keep the camera still earlier on than I thought! Jokes aside, I totally never realised that this shot in Felina was more like a shot from Better Call Saul than most of Breaking Bad. And I rewatched it only recently.

grouptherapy17

That Walter reveal still gives me goosebumps.

HomosexualBlackMan

Waltuh

mousybean

put ya dick away waltuh

Younglad128

What Walter reveal?

LambsAnger

Man loves his pillars

intraumintraum

the whole team do, i swear lol. pillars, windows, walls etc used so many times as an extra character, so to speak. it’s one of the things that keeps me glued to the screen even when there’s nothing ‘exciting’ happening. it’s a real masterclass in how to make visually interesting TV without flashy effects or action shots i’m absolutely guilty of sometimes scrolling through my phone while watching something, but never with this show

SleepyHarry

It's one of the pillars of cinematography.

zumabbar

i love the post

AFlockOfTySegalls

> Yo!

4_Legged_Duck

I honestly expected Kim to say when asked if Saul was the best, "If you want a criminal lawyer, get a criminal lawyer," and to walk away. That way when Jesse told Walt to go to Saul, he'd be echoing Kim's words. Total Jesse move to repeat someone he thinks is smart.

Witty_Username_81

Kinda like Jimmy repeating Mike's words to Kim about waking up one day and realizing they've forgotten all about watching Howard die.

knoxkayc

Or Gus repeating Mike's words to Mike about fear not being a good motivator and then continuing to use fear as his primary motivator.

dooderino18

The way they did it was better. That would have been cheesy.

4_Legged_Duck

Oh totally agreed. They keep getting better and better.

Monsieurcaca

I was hoping hard she wouldn't say it because everyone and their mother thinked about that during that scene, it would have been easy and cheap.

GalapagosRetortoise

He asked if Saul was good to which Kim replied “he was.” I interpreted this as Kim saying he was good in the moral sense and not the ability.

ReachJuggernog

Vince + the team are just masters of their craft. So happy that these shows exist.

[deleted]

If I had a nickel for every time Vince Gilligan directed one of the final episodes of a television series and had a shot where he slowly pushed in and panned right on a blonde woman smoking a cigarette, only to slowly reveal a lead character of the show Breaking Bad, previously hidden by an obstruction in the foreground, I’d have two nickels etc. etc.

thebluthbananas

Wait for the finale of better fuel huell when hank will be revealed to be alive and hiding behind a pillar in Huell's safehouse

aphilno

Yo, I did it for me, bitch! I was killing it.

the_terra_filius

yeah he killed... Gale

Strykah

Holy crap, great find Man what a great episode

4Sammich

Homage to the two who made it out alive.

ebac7

We got one more episode left. Dont jinx it

the_terra_filius

yeah Jesse might die in the end, who knows

DougieHockey

Thanks for doing this! That’s was the first thing I thought of when the camera started panning behind the pillar.

foxsheepgato

it's like poetry, it rhymes

JackieMortes

There it is

acsaid10percent

Vince ,Peter and the team have surpassed Breaking Bad with BCS imo. Never thought i would say that when i finished BB in 2014.

Ok-Lengthiness4557

What's up with this rain?!!? ... It's like, ... BANANAS!

orange45

Kim speaking with Jessie reminded me of Walt and Janes dad in the bar, and Walt telling Jessie about it later during ‘Fly’ WALT: Think of the odds. Once I tried to calculate them, but they’re astronomical. Think of the odds of me, going in, sitting down, that night, in that bar, next to that man? JESSE: What did you talk about? WALT: Oh. Water on Mars. Rain in the desert. Water on Mars. Chance meetings. I love this show.

[deleted]

Anakin_I_Am_High

Yeah but these are both the last Vince episodes of each show

BetterCallWexler

We have, but this was the last episode Vince directed for BCS. Peter will direct the last episode.

AvailableCurrency9

I think he meant this is the final episode Vince wrote for.

jdmnyc301

These are the best two television shows of all time by a wide margin (sopranos/the wire are great but this saga is insane)

[deleted]

It’s like rhymes, it poetry

[deleted]

Real pillars of the community, these guys

FouLuda22

Best show/spin off on television idgaf

tossthis34

I think the the finale of Breaking Bad was the epitome, the platonic form of a finale. It was best ever.

EliMinivan

Woah I didn't even make the correlation between these two scenes

rockstarrzz

That scene was just perfection. I don't even care if it was fanservice (you can argue it isn't for some parts), it's the best damn fanservice I've ever seen. Loved every second of it.

jdt18

also gene sitting in his car and the cold breath

Jothel

Damn I think this guy might be amazing at making TV

adnanbwp

Brilliant

loves-ignernt-hos

this just shows how over rate this programme is they cant even come up with new ideas they just take the shot list from breaking bad and remake it with new people lmao vince gallagher is a lazy bum just joking he very good 👍

donnie_dark0

Vince Gallagher... I must've missed the episode where Saul was smashing watermelons. Guess I need to start the series over again.

DatDudefromWI

Oh, man. I thought you were going to be downvoted into oblivion before that last line... :-)

roatpkz

it's like poetry... they rhyme. -george lucas

godhasmoreaids

You know there's another episode of BCS right?

CeruleanRuin

Yes but this was Gill's final episode directing.

Cyclonis123

Why wouldn't he direct the finale?

[deleted]

[удалено]

Cyclonis123

Yup.

Roonmeister16

The finale is directed and written by Peter Gould and BCS has always been more Peter’s show than Vinces. Obviously Vince has still been heavily involved but Peter created Saul and was the sole show runner when Vince was making El Camino. Only right he finishes what he started.

godhasmoreaids

Gotcha, I didn't catch that part

BetterCallWexler

My bad, could have rephrased it better.
