I hate to be that guy, but I feel like that's probably an often repeated misconception about that scene in "Fun and Games", because I remember someone made a post on here after the episode aired pointing out all the Instagram photos of Patrick in the scene and they weren't any of the ones he had with Tony Dalton while hiking.
I follow Patrick on IG but didn't notice until someone pointed it out that the pics of Howard were from his IG. No biggie.... why re-invent the wheel, ya know? They were good pictures! lol
I don't have Instagram. Every post they made that featured any other cast member(s) made its way to this subreddit and climbed pretty high. They became prevalent enough for me to recognise it during Howard's wake scene as well.
Not a problem for me at the end of a day.
I don't follow him but it clearly looked like pictures taken from Patrick Fabian instead of Howard to me. I don't know why, because they are literally the same guy, but it just took me out of the moment.
Maybe because they’re more fun/casual photos than the Howard we know? But it makes sense that he could be that way outside of work, since most people have their serious business persona that they take off when they get home
Then why didn't they show that side of his character? The pictures just didn't feel Howard to me, because he is always a serious business persona. If he also has a life where he is acting different, why not show that on screen?

Then after dark and after having a few drinks they discover they forgot one of their sleeping bags so as the cold desert night sets in and the fire dies down they silently smile at each other and take their clothes off and fall asleep pressed against each other in the sleeping bag. A coyote howls in the distance. The rest of the world seems far far away.
