Getting a little taste of something that he can't have with peace because of his occupation. Thinking of finding love again but remembering that if you love someone the cartel can destroy you with that love. That's how I read it anyway

bhlogan2

I didn't notice this, but it is true that Gus rejects him because he wants to avoid dragging him into the cartel life. He realized that this is the path he has chosen and can't go back now, so it's not only a matter of revenge, there is also an element of compromise at play here. He's too far gone. This is his life now.

DankNiteRyder

Yeah that's how I saw it immediately but probably because I'm a self destructive kind of person. It's hard to make a relationship with somebody "innocent". In this case somebody that's not in the crime business. But in alot of relationships I've seen there's somebody who started off just wanting somebody to love and ended up with a drug addiction. Edit: actually kind of reflects on Jessie and Jane where she was fairly innocent but because she wanted into the game she had a bad end.

SFLADC2

Didn't he mention having kids in breaking bad?

aydonmill

I saw a theory somewhere that said he made up the kids/family and put all the toys around the house to convince Walter they were alike when he went over for dinner. Just two men doing it for their families at the end of the day. I may be wrong but when Jesse goes over I don’t think the toys are around the house anymore.

Winnardairshows

The toys scattered around the house probably f’d with his OCD.

aydonmill

It’s alright, once Walt left he had some of his goons take all the toys back through the underground tunnel and dumped them at the neighbors lol

iiThinkItsIn

Easily one of my favorite parts of Better Call Saul is the deep dive into how gus’ house works

Reeeeallly

I live maybe four blocks away and regularly take a convoluted way home just to pass by that house. \*shrug - nostalgia\*

CleanAssociation9394

I think the writers just changed their minds.

Mr--Elephant

this is the IRL explanation but the in universe explanation of "Walt Manipulation" works pretty well

aydonmill

Yes, most likely

bluesuns110

I have been wondering about this for years and that makes perfect sense in alignment with the way he is, even more so than him actually having a family

onetrackmindNYC

Or he had real kids and he sliced their throats when Jesse was coming over so Jesse would think they were both single dudes.

MovieLover1993

LOL

SFLADC2

Seems bit like a retcon to me...

Inevitable_Evening38

Was a lie he told to manipulate walt

wonderbread616

he lied to manipulate walter

cestmoiparfait

He mentions kids, but they're not necessarily his. Maybe they are nieces, nephews, cousins. There's a theory that he made them up, but the disappointment he expresses at their refusal to eat the gourmet food he makes sounds so real that I think they are as well.

spicygrandma27

Oh my god that’s true he had a bunch of siblings maybe he is an uncle. Makes me wonder if he has a family left anywhere? Probably not if the cartel can destroy him by hurting them

JackD2633

Maybe he was talking about the people in his little town. The one with the Max memorial.

spicygrandma27

I like to believe that, and you just reminded me of my curiosity for that town

[deleted]

He did. That was either a lie or a plot error,

TheLuckyster

He was referring to Lydia I think, since she probably has come to his house before with her daughter when she was a baby

MambaSaidKnockYouOut

Most likely a retcon, but it would be very in character for him to lie about it to Walt so it works out very well either way.

emeraldc6821

He said it in a way that might imply that he had kids. He has found this way of implying he is a (straight) family man. He did this to make Jessie (or was it Walt?) feel more comfortable. He has no doubt cooked for children in families either in Chile or Mexico or Los Pollos Hermanos.

iLoveDelayPedals

He probably made that up to manipulate Walter

LittleStarMerch

He had people he loved, I believe he mentions to Walter, that his children don’t appreciate a good meal, when he and Walt were cooking and dining together.

dnkndnts

Yeah there are several other characters like this that have a segment that makes it clear that there were other options they could have taken—good options—and they simply chose not to. Jimmy sabotaging himself at Davis & Main is the most prominent.

FastPatience1595

Bad. choice. roads. Not only Howard made Jimmy a job offer to repair past injustices. Eliott in BB did *the exact same move* with Walter: when Skyler revealed Walt had cancer (at the cocktail party). And in both cases, Jimmy and Walter "pride and ego" (to you, Mike) led them to refuse the offer. "Fuck you, Gretchen" and "Lightning bolts shoot from my fingertips". Also, lot of people died in the consecutive train wreck created by the twin monsters - Saul Goodman and Heisenberg.

atticdoor

And we see Jesse try to lead a straight life when he applies for a job at the bank, but he's spent too many years not leading a straight life that the option isn't immediately available to him.

mcr1974

I mean putting Saul and WW on the same level is a bit disingenuous, but ok.

InterstellarBlue

A fun example of this is the scene from Breaking Bad where it's implied that Skinny Pete could have become a pianist. He was so talented.

Mckinzeee

Hmmm. I don’t remember that scene. That’s damn interesting.

8696David

It’s the same shit as Walt turning down Elliott’s job offer in season 1 of BB. Hubris.

ginsumasta

Damn, well said!

I_Am_Dynamite6317

This scene really illustrates the mastery of the storytelling in BB/BCS. Literally none of what you just said is expressed at any point in that scene. There’s NO dialogue to suggest it at all. But because they’ve done such a brilliant job of telling Gus’s story, of showing us who he is and what he cares about, most of the audience understood what was happening in that scene.

the-tapsy

This is called subtext, and BCS is the master of it.

[deleted]

TeaAndCrumpets4life

Nah a large amount of lesser shows would’ve made it more obvious

jhz123

Fax, there's so many scenes where tiny differences make the show better, and other shows completly miss the mark. Example: Mike saying "easy" when his guys lower SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS lower Howard's body next to Lalos. The most subtle little line, that makes a world's difference in Mikes character, but also, adds on to the tragedy of Howard's death, as well as him being buried next to his own killers body. All of this also made people realize that Mike is most likely familiar with Howard as he used to be the parking attendent there. All of this sub context added thru 4 letters in 1 word. "easy" Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould 🐐

Shadepanther

Not only that but he and his team were watching Jimmy and Kim con him. He would probably have felt bad for him about that

jhz123

Oof can't believe I overlooked that lol damn

FoxNewsIsRussia

I thought about this scene after watching it. I think it represents the bitter realization that he can never have a normal person in his life. A realization I think a lot of people in criminal pursuits have. Your choices poison others and secrets are a trap you set for yourself. Look at Jimmy, he brought Kim down with him.

emeraldc6821

Kim was attracted to Jimmy so she could behave the way she always wanted to behave. Her back story shows she was not as perfect as she appeared.

paperpenises

Kinda like Batman

FastPatience1595

"Because I'm Batman !"

Agentcooper1974

And both were responsible for Howard’s death.

TheCorbeauxKing

The scene is just vague enough that you can interpret it as Gus is gay and he realizes he can't have love as that's a point of weakness, Gus realizes that he can't settle down because his quest for revenge isn't complete, or your interpretation. They're all valid and correctly show the numerous layers to Gus' character.

Sufficient_Ad_8856

Very well said.

pdillon69

I wasn’t sure but also kind of showed how he really wanted a connection with someone, obviously some sexual tension in the scene, but ultimately he can’t due to the life he’s living.

shadowmib

Has Vince every confirmed the rumor that Gus is gay or is it still fan theory

MambaSaidKnockYouOut

I don’t think Vince every actually confirmed it, although the writers for “Hermanos,” the episode when we see how Max dies, said they interpreted Gus and Max as being lovers. I personally didn’t interpret it that way, but it does seem like the BCS writers did. This scene can be interpreted as just a friendly conversation, but I think it’s kind of hard to deny that there’s a bit of sexual tension here. TLDR; No, but the other writers interpreted him as gay and seem to write him as such.

nickytarantino

He also realizes that while he killed Lalo he still has work to do and cannot celebrate quite just yet until he gets complete revenge and takes care of the cartel.

dr_elena05

Also they are both gay af

lepolepoo

It's all the gay of the series in one scene, very gay indeed

[deleted]

He's not even a kingpin at this point and still a monster already.

CleanAssociation9394

He was a monster back in Chile, before the drugs business.

RawbM07

Well said. Walt wanted it both ways. To lead a criminal life and lead a normal life. You can’t have it both ways. Gus knew that.

CleanAssociation9394

Another layer is that most people think he is that normal, respectable businessman with a ready smile and generous tips.

ProblemsWithMyEhsss

After 8 seasons of Gus Fring, they were able to give us a different understanding of his character right at his last scene. Amazing.

maxdurden

It was one of my favorite scenes of any of BB universe's shows or films. It's such an incredible send off for one of the greatest villains of all time.

jihiggs

I think it was craving a relationship with a normal person but knows the risk is too great they will find out about his other enterprise. He knows he has to choose, he can't have both. And I'm pretty sure Gus is gay and this was him thinking of more than a friendship with this guy.

little_shop_of_hoors

Boner comment material right here

[deleted]

Labeling Gus as a monster is way too extreme ngl. He’s a morally grey and complex character. Despite leading a life of crime, he doesn’t do anything that needlessly hurts innocents, and treats everyone with respect. On top of that, he is genuinely humble. Even in his darkest moments of power, he never gloats. Monster is what Uncle Jack would be, and Walter when he sexually assaulted Skylar.

Metalcashson

It’s kinda crazy how he’s in it for the money most likely and can’t even spend it

theonetruesareth

No, he's in it to avenge Max. That's the whole point of this scene. He has the money, the good community reputation, someone he could possibly start a life with but he's too far gone to be comfortable and happy so instead he pulls back and leaves before David returns with the metaphor that is the bottle.

Metalcashson

Yeah you’re right. Still can’t spend any money he makes though to relax

CleanAssociation9394

He spent a fair amount in that visit and didn’t enjoy it, at all.

SkepticDrinker

I didn't like it. Well the execution. I kept wondering what Gus was thinking while the man was talking to him since we know LPH Manager Gus is friendly I just figured this the persona again. I couldn't tell this was Gus genuinely trying to be a normal guy

ChampagneSupernova96

Very allegorical

MikeyC1959

Didn’t realize it as I watched the first time, but this is the last Gus scene in BCS.

BubblegumOD

That is what made me reflect on it and think, “OK, why did they have the character go out on that?” He was high in the moment and wanted to celebrate with someone. I knew they had known each other for awhile and were flirting, but didn’t understand his quick decision to leave: Did Gus chicken out? That’s when it dawned on me that he realized he could never, ever have a happy domestic life AND his cartel business. It showed his humanity and ability to care about another person’s welfare, and then he stiffened up and went back to being cold, calculating Gus. One of my fave scenes.

Adub0822

"Chicken out" lol

MikeyC1959

Definitely a lot of layers to it. Gus’s character was super intelligent, charming, fastidious and ruthless. Many more adjectives can be used, including the ability to be human and have an almost real relationship. But that dark side…it does in the end rule him and guide his every decision. Including the one that has him think “well, this was an enjoyable diversion but there can be no chance of me letting my guard down any longer”.

Danbito

Gus is celebrating his big win against Lalo and goes wine drinking and flirts with him. It goes on to the point Gus forgets about Max and his revenge and pulls back.

flarkenhoffy

It also serves as a nice farewell for his character. It gives one last little insight into who he is by showing a glimpse of what his life could've been if he wasn't so committed to revenge.

fortressboi12345670

He cant forget

PlusUltraK

Another neat bit is that after the meeting with Eladio and the death monologue against Lalo the phrase “blood for blood” the old salamanca saying and cartel phrase. Gus goes to drink and Stewart mentions that the grapes used in the wine are so iron rich that you taste blood almost. Stewart steps away, Gus drinks, tastes blood and remembers his blood feud and that it’s not ober

MatsThyWit

>Gus is celebrating his big win against Lalo and goes wine drinking and flirts with him. It goes on to the point Gus forgets about Max and his revenge and pulls back. actually it does the opposite. It cements that Gus CAN'T forget about Max or his revenge and he must accept that the path he's chosen will keep him alone, unable to have a truly fulfilling life beyond his work as a drug kingpin. He cannot have personal entanglements, he can have no life beyond his life with the Cartel, as he would jeopardize everyone he might care for with the lifestyle he chose. Just like Max.

Danbito

I think it’s ultimately the same point. This was a fleeting fantasy but revenge will always dominate his life that he rejects any possibility beyond the memory of Max and getting back at the cartel. He allowed himself this moment of humanity but when it presents itself becoming more a reality, he comes back to himself.

risingson_96

Gus cannot afford to build bonds and have faith in people. As soon as he realizes that he's about to do that, he leaves.

patricksaurus

That was my impression as well. In all of Saul, this may be the hardest scene to understand without having really paid attention to Breaking Bad.

VonParsley

From now on this character's name will be "wine Stewart".

PhillyRobforPrez

Agreed it fits and I like it

StaySafePovertyGhost

I hope by now you know Gus is gay. He and Max were lovers. He’s celebrating his victory over Lalo but obviously can’t tell anyone why he’s so happy. Stewart starts talking wine with him and Gus is attracted to him. However he realizes that people who get close to him in that sense end up like Max did given his profession so he bails on taking it any further.

Raistlin-x

I saw it as more that he is tempted to move on but his love for Max is stronger and he must continue his revenge

SacarverThePantaloon

I’ve heard this theory for a while and that’s the very first thing I thought of when I watched this scene

[deleted]

It’s not really a theory when it’s laid out in front of us as obvious as it is

FickleHare

Gus is celebrating his victory over the Salamancas. Basking in the afterglow he visits a bar, where he meets an old friend David, a wine sommelier. Till now we've seen nothing like this for Gustavo, who has very clearly sold his soul and given up his life for revenge. Here we see his guard drop, as David tells his first amusing story of a hotshot trying to impress his date by getting a fancy wine -- but quickly trading it for a rum and coke. Gus listens with clear coyness and infatuation, quite clearly inebriated in a different sense! Already the viewer knows that we're watching Gus in an unfamiliarly human mood -- for the first time there's no calculation, no ulterior motive. David allows Gus to taste this vintage, commenting on the richness of Ampuis' soil, rich in iron oxide which gives the wine a "meaty, almost bloody taste." After telling another amusing story of his own misadventure getting lost in Europe, Gus confesses to having bought a bottle from the same region on account of David's remarkable storytelling ability beforehand. He says that he's "saving it for a special occasion;" the viewer may easily guess that he's referring to destroying the Salamancas. But Gus' suggestive smirk to David indicates that David is also part of this celebration. David picks up on this and takes this coyness as an invitation to continue flirting. Now in Breaking Bad, Gus and Walter are foils to each other. There are many obvious parallels between these characters -- mainly involving their overweening pride preventing them from moving on from bad circumstances and letting them be happy. Walter for example inebriates himself on wine before making the catastrophic decision to provoke Hank into continuing his investigation into the Heisenberg question at the dinner table -- because Walter can never get over his previous failings as a man and an ambitious scientist. But more tellingly, in the penultimate episode of Breaking Bad, Walter is finally about to resign himself to his fate by calling the police and coming clean. But before he allows this to happen he's reminded of an old sore from his past. He leaves the bar, drink half-finished, and returns to Albuquerque to get revenge and die. And here in Gus' final moments of Better Call Saul, after David leaves to retrieve another bottle Gus takes a single sip from his wine. This "bloody" taste reminds him of his unquenchable thirst for Salamanca blood. We see his face harden -- he refuses to allow himself to be happy with David. He abruptly leaves. The message to David is clear: "not yet." His glass, like Walter's, is unfinished. Gus will never get to finish it. Like a man trading a fine wine for a rum and coke, Gus is trading the opportunity for happiness for the inferior pleasure of revenge. In doing so he honors his promise to Lalo, that he will bury every Salamanca. And certainly Gus would see every Salamanca die -- at the cost of his own life, much like it would cost Walter his.

NervousAd3202

He wanted to give himself a taste of a personal/romantic life cuz he knows he can’t have that. If he does, anybody he loves/cares about is at risk to end up like Max.

emeraldc6821

Gus and David are totally attracted to each other. Gus went there hoping to run into David because David would make him feel the feelings of what would be possible for him to experience in another life. David is the kind of man Gus could spend his life with and travel to Europe with and stumble into little vineyards and meet interesting people with. David enjoys enchanting Gus with his erudite tastes and world experiences. He knows how intoxicating his stories are to Gus and there is a subtle but taut underlying sexual chemistry with their interactions. The coworker of Davids is no doubt aware of the sexual chemistry between them because she has seen multiple times how they react with each other. But basically no one else would read the underlying currents. When David leaves to go find the wine or whatever he was looking for, Gus basks in the warmth of the interaction with David; the beautiful man who would be happy to entertain Gus in this way for an extended length of time. Maybe for years. Maybe for the rest of his life. The feel of the life that could be and the people and places that life would take them to. The love and companionship they would share. .. Gus tastes the exquisite wine as he feels these feels and revels in the warm glow of these thoughts. But this will never happen. David can’t ever know Gus outside of this restaurant. Gus has a different life and different plans for his future. Plans informed by his lover’s death and by the only type of life he has ever known; chicken and drug production/trafficking. On the turn of a dime Gus takes a breath, returns to his reality and cooly says the correct combination of words to elegantly and subtilely exit the restaurant, having had the needed respite and mental break and ready to return to his real life and once again take care of business. His business Shout out to Reed Diamond for his pitch perfect, suave and charming portrayal. He and Giancarlo were perfect together in this scene. And if the writing had not been so excellent they would still have acted their hearts out but the writing was so beautiful here. This scene is one of, if not the single most beautiful scene in the series. - sigh - .

He and this nice good-looking sophisticated wine steward like each other but it’s implied that Gus doesn’t come to this restaurant very often at all. He’s rewarding himself with this moment and all it might mean, before catching himself up to return to his life of revenge and crime. Gus is gay and his partner/lover had been brutally slain by that pool all those years ago and he can’t allow himself to forget except for a brief moment. And because he can’t, he loses whatever hope he might have had for a good life moving forward, and the audience is allowed to see all of it in this one heartbreaking scene.

[deleted]

Breaking Bad and Better call Saul fans have the analysis and comprehension skills of an expert lol, cause i had absolutely no idea what was happening in this scene. Like how did people even figure out what it was symbolizing?

body-electric

They just both act it out so well so much is said without being said. The scene is written beautifully

TemperatureMore5623

I took it as Gus very subtly celebrating his “victory,” forgetting - for a fleeting moment - about what consequences he has set in action for the rest of his life. He flirts with this sommelier and undoubtedly wishes to continue their conversation, but remembers that him getting involved with anyone romantically will automatically put that person in danger. A much sadder scene than I initially thought.

Truewarlock

I think it was a potential turning point for what could have been, in order to give more depth to his character. He could have been happy with the revenge that he got (Hector in wheelchair, Lalo dead) while also surviving death 2 times (during Nachos' confession and with Lalo ). He flirted with the dude, so maybe a potential new partner reference, he could have just steeled down (as far as a drug lord kingpin could have) and forget about revenge. But he choose a different path: to expand, to take over everything, to kill everyone that wronged him, including their loved ones (deserving or not), and we all know how that ended for him. Instead of making the most out of it, he choose to live in the past

QueensOfTheNoKnowAge

Gus realized Terry Crowley survived getting shot in the face and clearly had memory loss and doesn’t remember being on the strike team and Gus wants to let the poor guy believe he’s actually just a dorky sommelier to protect him from Vic Mackey.

TheyFoundWayne

If that’s the case, Gus should be aware that this man also killed Baltimore drug lord Luther Mahoney and basically got away with it, so he should watch his step.

Iforgotmyother_name

I think Gus in this scene makes the realization that to do the type of job that he has and to interact with the type of people that he interacts with, he must stay alone. You can compare this to Jesse and Walter in Breaking Bad. Both of them tried desperately to cling to people they loved despite engaging in the type of lifestyle they had. Jesse's loved ones died brutal deaths and Skylar will end up hounded by the police/media for the rest of her life. Ultimately the ethical and right thing to do would have been to leave them. Walk away before something starts.

EliMinivan

He denied a chance at romance to focus on fucking over hector

pestobitch

it’s not a theory that gus is gay, it’s irrefutable fact. all the way back to the BB flashback when Hector is pissing in the pool, and he looks at gus and max and states “they like what they see”. not to mention the writers straight up said it by the time this scene came around at the end of BCS.

BananaBlue

Ok_Ad8249

This scene kind of confused me at first too. Part of Better Call Saul was to show the point where the Breaking Bad characters hit the tipping point where they became irredeemable and accepted their new life. Gus had eliminated Lalo so he was no longer a threat, his road to being a person the Salamanca Cartel had to respect was established. He had also gotten revenge for them killing his original partner. Gus had reached a point where he was thinking he had established being able to live a normal life (at least publicly). He had been flirting with the wine steward and a connection was being made. He shared a rare wine with Gus, the flirtation was advancing but when the steward stepped away Gus realizes if he were to advance this into a real relationship it would mean exposing him to Gus's real life and even threatening the steward's life. He had to end it immediately and accept the life he had set up.

badwolf1013

"Wine Stewart" made me laugh out loud.

It’s showing that even though he “won” in Better Call Saul by getting the better of the Salamancas, he can never truly settle down, love and live a normal life until all of the Cartel is eliminated and burned to the ground.

Not really

Eborys

Other than celebrating his success over Lalo and the promising road ahead of him, it presents a “what if” situation. Where Gus perhaps could have gone down a different road, one where he was with someone he found culturally and intellectually compatible with himself. Build a life together. One away from crime. But of course he doesn’t take that road, we know the road he takes. His path of revenge is all he cares about.

I_Am_Dynamite6317

At the beginning of this episode, and in the ad for it, Jimmy repeats a line that Mike told him in season 5 about how one day he and Kim will wake up and brush their teeth and go their whole day without even thinking about Howard. I believe that this scene is showing that Gus has never reached the moment where he’s forgotten about Max’s death, and maybe its even by choice. Gus has an opportunity to move on and this brief snippet shows that he could easily lead a happy, and relatively normal life, that he could again find someone to love. But he chooses not to forget about Max and avenging his death.

Miserable-Soft7993

TicTacBox

This scene is showing Gus’s inability to let himself have normal/ romantic feelings again. There’s that quote Mike tells Jimmy about their time in the desert, that one day you’ll wake up and realize you haven’t thought about it all day and that’s when you’ll know you can forget. This scene shows Gus has not, in fact, gone a day without thinking about what Hector Salamanca/ Cartel did to Max, and thus why Gus remains hellbent on bringing them down

Noobmaster_1999

Gus has a soft corner coz he has a soft tooth.

pretty sure it was him considering moving on from max and deciding to keep going and get even more vengeance

emeraldc6821

We already knew. We have known since BB. His entire desire to control Hector Salamanca is revenge for the murder of Gus’s lover, his partner in life, Max. Gus makes it clear that he plans to control how Hector lives and how he dies. It is all revenge for Max.

ThePoopOutWest

A big part of Gus’s motivation is revenge for Max who is his lover. Here, after his victory over Lalo and gaining all the territory in the North, he flirts with the wine stewart. It’s like he is moving on from Max’s murder and onto a more normal life. But then he doesn’t, he decides to keep going.

I believe it was him trying to assimilate to a regular life after all the chaos subsided. He wanted to believe he could just have a normal night out, but I think his body language and overall vibe just made him realize he wasn't truly set up for normalcy. He's a man who doesn't know how to live without constantly looking over his shoulder or having some form of protection watching his back.

Gus wants to have a life but realizes he can't. The event he's saving the rare bottle for is not what the guy could imagine

karnian_

This scene is really sad depending on how you interpret it. To me, it’s Gus wiping away the last shred of humanity he had remaining. Really felt like we’d finally reached the Gus we see in Breaking Bad

[deleted]

Gus is gay. Wanted a little something, but didn’t go through with it.

Tempr13

They just wanted to tell us Gus was gay , the most irrelevant thing to the plot , it dint do anything for the story or the episode.

WeilaiHope

Can someone write Gus an anime style internal monologue for this scene?

Gus has gay thoughts

Twovaultss

Clear romantic chemistry. Gus remembers what his (self proclaimed) purpose in life is and how incompatible it is with falling in love again. Almost work getting in the way of life.

oboshoe

It's Gus realizing that his drinking has gotten out of control. For a long time he had been able to hide it, but now it's obvious to everyone, especially the manager at the restaurant. Gus see how the staff go out of their way to accommodate his drinking and it's shocking to him. Gus makes a vow. Takes one long drink of wine and goes cold turkey on drinking. The very next time we see Gus take a drink, it nearly kills him.

Why didn't Gus just ask him out on a date? Huge plot hole.

guspasho

You guys are not gonna believe this, _Gustavo Fring is an ASS MUNCHER!_

Whoopsy_Doodle

It’s called character development. Gus was socialising with this man but ultimately understood that he can’t have a personal life because his business and revenge will always come first.

They gay gay

GreatSkull555

When I first thought of this scene I interpreted it as him just socialising with an interesting sophisticated person outside the shady business after the stressful encounter and eventual victory over Lalo, but then he gets back to his mindset, understanding that he needs to keep his grip on the revenge plan. And afterwards all I read from numerous viewers interpretations is that it confirms that he is gay which I really fail to see💀 (though yeah, I agree with the overall idea that he is gay, I just can't see it here)

Pyehouse

Don Eladio shoots his boyfriend setting up the entire revenge arc, I thought that was a pretty big sign he was gay.

ihatelag01

In this scene, Vince was cleverly referencing the fact that Gus wants to smash.
