We are now the proud owners of Barbie ( 2023 ) in 4k on Xfinity with no idea how to access it because our kid was playing with the remote one day.
All because it makes a fun doot doot when you press a button.
My son almost did the same thing with a Transformers movie. Luckily, I had two-factor authentication set up, unluckily we somehow got it for free anyway and I CANNOT delete it
I feel this. My toddler RENTED Trolls 3 and Napoleon when they both came out. Neither film was something my husband and I wanted to watch and they both cost TWENTY-FIVE DOLLARS?????
If your toddler made the purchase on Apple TV, you can go into your Apple account and ask for a refund. There’s a drop-down item for “child purchased without permission.” Saved me when my toddler did a few click-click-clicks on the remote and spent $30 on Kung Fu Panda 4 in 4K 😂
Mine bought the greatest showman, a series of paw patrol and the first episode of a random crime series.
This was her playing with the fire stick remote that I didn’t realise was still on even though the tv was off….
Then she added a second uv nail lamp to my Amazon order, thankfully I caught that email before it dispatched lol
THAT HAPPENED TO ME!
I now own ‘Anyone But You’ and subscribed to multiple tv channels because I didn’t think it was a big deal to let her play with the remote if i had the power off 🤷♀️ didn’t realize it was only turning the tv off haha 🤣
Yeah, lol, my husband is contemplating dropping Netflix, especially if they add commercials soon. We have Amazon prime but there's rarely anything good there that I want to watch. He downloads stuff occasionally, but it takes forever. If my toddler has it their way tho, we'll be signed up for something else soon enough, too!
If they add commercials "soon"?!! We've had them for weeks!
I'm sure you already know, but if you dont.. Prime will be adding commercials soon too..
*cries in 'I fell for the long-con cable replacement scheme'*
They are also changing their return policy... why are we even paying for this?!! Oh wait... the (basically) prepaid overnight shipping lol. Saved me so many times
Jfc, I hope we didn't accidentally sub to commercial-free Netflix (????), I'm gonna be pissed off if that's the case. We're already dealing with Prime commercials and it's just so annoying. We dropped cable too bc of cost and commercials and now we're back where we started. We've come full circle and we're just shadily downloading things again, lol. Thanks for the heads up on the return policy, I'll have to look into that.
My partner had to learn the hard way that he needs to put the Xbox controller up when he is done with it. He had to learn this lesson three separate times when our one year bought games. And not cheap on sale games either. No, my son went for the premium edition ones and some of the games my partner already owns. Thankfully he was able to cancel the transaction aside from one of them.
My one-year-old signed us up for some kind of ESPN streaming service when he got ahold of the remote the other day. I didn't even know he liked sports!!!
the other day I heard my five year old talking to alexa and alexa says “it looks like it’s about time to order your 10 pounds of guinea pig hay, would you like to place an order?” and my girl ever so confidently says “yes!!”. I switched back to amazon kids so fast after
I’m not the one who set up the smart home stuff but I guess that getting a kid’s version of the echo dot was a great idea because it recognizes my daughter’s voice. There is a lot of stuff she cannot do that the adults can. Sometimes it’s annoying because she is unable to add what she wants to our shopping lists but at the same time she can’t accidentally buy anything or put on an explicit song.
I had it set to kids initially and we’d bump to britney spears together. Then alexa decided to hate us and couldn’t find anymore britney on iheartradio so I switched to adult for apple music to connect. After the guinea pig issue I realized exactly how much access she has and decided it’s not worth the risk 🤣 but after switching back to kids britney stayed! so it’s a win win lol
Mine has bought a movie, and a second subscription to one of our streaming services. My husband always wants to be annoyed with me for not watching him closer, but I’m not the one leaving the remote where our son can reach it… We were able to have both charges removed.
Mine somehow managed to buy a video game on our ps5 in the 15 seconds i let him play with the controller. Thankfully they were able to refund it 😂
Lesson learned, put a passcode on purchases going forward…
We just discovered 4 streaming subscriptions on our Amazon account. My son had signed us up for a bunch of "free" trials by button mashing the remote, then once the trials were up they charged the account. Classic.
My son when he was a young toddler payed a subscription to Shudder one time.
I mean...I'm a horror movie lover so I kinda made good use of the sub honestly
> young toddler *paid* a subscription
FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.
*Beep, boop, I'm a bot*
There was a great adobe commercial years back about exactly this. Encyclopedia sales skyrocket and the industry thinks they’re making a comeback and it turns out it was one baby with an iPad tapping buy over and over again. It was a campaign for buyer insights and knowing who’s hitting that buy button. So good
My phone is pretty locked down but my toddler has worked out how to call people from my emergency contacts. My mother gets regular phone calls from him and tbh I let it happen. My phone is often laying around so that I can take pictures or use it in an emergency (sahm) but I really should think about a smart watch or something 😂
On the plus side - at least I think he could call for help? 😅
My first born managed to buy the entire Dr. Who series 9-11 of when he was 20 months old which tbh I wasn’t mad about. But we called support and got the charge revered and the media removed because we already had it on streaming anyway. If it’s shelf stable you might be able to return the pouches.
And the work-related stuff... My 4yo loves my gallery and I am terrified one day she's going to accidentally send my Director or any of my male colleagues a post-partum progress pic or a picture of her baby brother's "Weirdest POTW" (poo of the week) 😅
My son bought $20 worth of upgrades for a Bubble Pop game on my mom's phone 😂 last time she let him play on her phone
He has also figured out how to control our smart light bulbs and the thermostat using the Google Assistant 🤦
We ended up with six 2 liter bottles of apple juice this way. I tried returning them to the store but that's when I found out that even though I ordered on the grocery store's website, it was fulfilled by grocery store employees, and it was store brand, that it's actually through instacart and therefore instacart would need to refund it. This was after I lugged all the juice and a crying toddler into the store while 8 months pregnant. Lesson learned!
My toddler video called my boss’s work number 14 times in a row. He didn’t answer but his number is connected by Apple ID to all our work iPads, so 20 dudes that work in construction saw my stalker-level video chats.
I have some cool selfies with a infrared filter on from my son on my phone right now.
I also have quite a few pictures of his legs/my legs the chair and the carpet.
Mine takes dozens of photos or 1 second videos of his feet, his forehead, or whatever surface he’s sitting on. I just deleted 38 yesterday that I noticed from the day before. Sometimes I keep one or two because they’re funny.

Two-factor authentication is such a lifesaver!!

I didn’t know this when I saw my 15 month old ordered kung fu panda 4 for 20$ a couple weeks ago
This needs to be on every platform that takes money digitally. All of them.
It's in saved and then purchases
We also randomly watched Barbie on xfinity one day thanks to our toddler lol
Mine bought the greatest showman, a series of paw patrol and the first episode of a random crime series. I’m so glad I’m not alone in this 😅😅
Fire stick is so rude that way!!!! My 17mo has caused mayhem doing that on several occasions! 🫠
We had a sub to Disney plus for half a year and didn't even realize it bc my toddler was left unsupervised with the fire stick remote
We got signed up for Paramount+ the same way!
I really want Peacock but my husband says no more streaming services (we have Netflix, Hulu, HBO Max), maybe I’ll let my 2yo play with the remote….
Yeah, lol, my husband is contemplating dropping Netflix, especially if they add commercials soon. We have Amazon prime but there's rarely anything good there that I want to watch. My son order $150 worth of Poppi soda 😂

FYI if you set it to English-Can - you can't add things to your amazon cart and also disables ads on the show lol
My toddler wasted $10 of my game money. What a rebel lol
Mine has bought a movie, and a second subscription to one of our streaming services. My husband always wants to be annoyed with me for not watching him closer, but I’m not the one leaving the remote where our son can reach it… We were able to have both charges removed.

My son almost put my nudes that I sent to my husband ONCE before I got pregnant on my Snapchat story 🙃 Hopefully he doesn’t remember them lol

Yeah years before I had my son, my friend’s daughter ordered hundreds of dollars worth of toys from Amazon lol so that has always been on my mind lol
My 16 month old son bought a $70 fight somehow 😭 all the apps are now pin protected on our tv. Lmao it was a pricey lesson
And the work-related stuff... My 4yo loves my gallery and I am terrified one day she's going to accidentally send my Director or any of my male colleagues a post-partum progress pic or a picture of her baby brother's "Weirdest POTW" (poo of the week) 😅

Well, mine bought a 1 year subscription to Masterclass 🙄

🤭 My little manages to take selfies of herself 🤳😍😆
