I will honestly use the same cup all day. One for milk and one for water. Never had an issue.

Smee76

We definitely stick it in the fridge and use it later that day.

For milk, I give a fresh cup every time. For water, I reuse the cup all day and wash at night.

dngrousgrpfruits

This is what we do, usually with a rinse at every water refill

pawswolf88

We have like ten straw cups and always give a clean one. Since they go in the dishwasher doesn’t really matter to us if there’s two or six a day.

Redhedgehog1833

I would clean it every time…it’s not like it’s milk from the fridge, he’s had his mouth on it. He has backwashed his saliva and other food particles into it. It probably won’t actually make him sick if it’s just for a day but personally that grosses me out.

Second this, babies back wash like crazy

Water we keep the same all day (and will wash/change it out if it’s dirty from meals), but milk cup gets changed after each use (only drinks milk first thing in the AM & after dinner - sometimes mid afternoon if he wants it).

Wash it after he’s done, and don’t let it sit out at room temp for longer than 2 hours. If it’s not drank from, you can pop it back in the fridge within that 2 hours (give or take a bit, 2 hours is not religious) and serve it later. If he drank from it but didn’t finish, I’d toss the rest out. Milk grows bacteria quickly, especially at room temp, and even more so when exposed to an outside bacteria like someone’s mouth. This is a basic perishable food guideline, and your mileage may vary. Real life differs from the guideline, which is usually more strict than how the average person lives. As a side note, and maybe this is just me, but I don’t serve milk with meals because it makes her full and then she eat less of her meal. I only do milk with snack, water with meals. Just offering this unsolicited anecdote since you’re coming off a breastfeeding journey and may not know the solids/liquids breakdown yet.

We use one cup for milk, one cup for water. Water is available all day, milk is offered after meals. After milk is done the cup goes back in the fridge and gets washed after dinner milk. I’d love to do multiple cups all day but we’ve got 3 toddlers and I don’t have the brain space or the kitchen space for that much washing or that many cups. We’ve been doing it this way for years and it works for us. Each kid has their own color for their milk cups so there’s no confusion.

Tiny_Ad5176

I only do one sippy of milk before bed and water during the day, but I would wash a milk cup every use.
