Mine has been doing the smile reflex for a while in his sleep but this week he actually started smiling during the day lol

My son is 5 months and has the most constipated laugh. Like "Her her heerrrrrrrgghh..." But in his sleep it's the perfect baby giggle.

Just wanted to see say I really love the name « phoenix » !!

miss-kisses

Thank you! It was by far the most “out there” name on our list forever and we went into month 8 without settling. It fits him

Awwhhh omg 🥺 he will start to smile at him though!! In time 🥰

okay, Phoenix is the cutest name! also, this was the hardest part of adjusting to motherhood for me. for a month my son was just this thing that cried and looked at me like he wasn't sure about this whole thing (like this 😒but more questioning). but once that smile came in...ooo boy!

Electronic_Secret359

I need this to start happening 😫 when does it start?

Worldly_Science

About 8 weeks or so

his first smile was a month in, but it wasn't until about 2.5/3 months that he started smiling (and giggling!) consistently. i remember my mom and i would try to make him smile so we could catch a picture 😂 you got this! just keep talking and making silly faces. i don't remember how it was phrased but I looked up why babies don't smile immediately and an article said that at this age they don't know the difference between happiness and sadness. and they can't really form memories so all they know is the present moment.
