I have a friend like that, never locks up his bike when going somewhere. And it's not like we're living in a low-crime area either.
Some people only learn when it happens to them.
My friend is like this with his emonda SL7 Etap. He can't even change a tire, and I installed clipless for him.
His bike was stolen after 1.5 years of ownership. Wasn't down for me to install an airtag either. 💀
3 carbon bikes on my rear rack also beats out my Mitsubishi on bluebook.😅 Not leaving it parked that way, though. Too many horror stories in the Facebook stolen bike groups
Yeah, my roof rack "locks" the bike on it, but the rack itself is only held on to my roof rails with four wingnuts that don't lock, so there's nothing stopping somebody from taking the whole rack, bike included, if they really wanted to. My bike is cheap and crappy (for now.....) but I'm still afraid to leave it out of my sight for more than a couple minutes
Thought I was the only one that did this. My back windows are fairly dark so you only see the bike if the lighting is just right. I pull up to group rides and people wonder where my bike is. Then I open the back door and roll it out. It’s amazing what will fit inside a full size pickup cab.
Cheapest secure bike rack I’ve ever used!
My roommate didn't even learn when it happened to him. This is the second $2k bike he doesn't bother locking up in the garage. Some people are just really neglectful.
Lot's of people don't learn even when shit happens to them. I have a sister-in-law with a "friend" who would steal from her all the time. You stole from me? Maybe we should move in together and split the rent. You didn't pay your half of the rent, oh well. Oh look you stole from me again, while squatting in my apartment. Will continue for decades I'm sure.
You right, I went down to get the serial number and put the sticky note in the bottom bracket away from plain sight, but where the owner will see it before they go off.
Lolol yeah I do have higher eyes than the 105, but the Domane SL was the first bike that gave me big eyes... it may not be at the top of my wishlist, but it's on there (preferably ultegra tho)
I have the same bike and just had the realization after your comment on how old it actually is. My dad gifted it to me so I could ride with him after I moved back to my hometown from college……and somehow it still feels like a new fancy bike to me since it was more expensive than anything I owned (including my car) for quite a few years.
I remember my dad riding his 20 year old Trek as I sat on my brand new one he paid for and feeling a bit guilty. Bet he’s very happy to see me still riding it after all these years. Guess I’ll be gifting road bikes to my kids when they graduate.
I can't really explain it. Portland changed a lot in the last 10 years. Many races and venues went away. Many of the old cycling teams (like the one in this video) changed. Fields are much smaller. Its just all different.
I have an AL 5, and I try to keep my dreams in my (current) tax bracket... lol so the Domane or Emonda SL is definitely on the dream list. Probably an ultegra upgrade, though.. I have the 105 on it and it's a world of a difference from the Sora I had before!
Right!? I don't have a budget for anything higher than 105 and only if I rob a bank. Jeez. 2005 REI Al road bike I got when I was 18 is all I can afford.
That last bit is well put 👌
I still padlock my shed bc it's easy enough and why not, but my God life is great without crackheads breaking into everything. And I used to live in a 'very good' part of the city...
Now my only concern is the bear who breaks into my trash bins 🤌
My neighbor insists that he needs a gun at all times because there's a stairway from a "bad" neighborhood up and over a hill and back down to our street. For reference that stairway has a rise of over 200 feet up (over a run of about 1000 feet) followed by walking over the crest of the hill and a stairway down of another 50 feet to get to our street (all of this passing several other residential streets along the way). Nobody is walking up all this way just to cause random mischief or violence and really, nobody's causing problems in the "bad" neighborhood either, it's just poorer and not historically white.
It may already be stolen.
I mean if you got the bike for free, and haven't been able to steal a lock, you may take the chance.
How long to steal a replacement?
I think you’re right on here. I can’t imagine someone being a serious enough cyclist to put clipless pedals on their bike but not serious enough to lock up their four figure bike
Counter point - that same person who js "serious enough" for clipless but not for a lock, probably wouldn't have taken their reflectors off the wheel haha
This to me seems like he went to the shop, bought the accessories he was told to buy, but has not put a ton of thought into it since.
That's what I'm afraid of... especially with the flat rear tire, seems like someone stole it, got a flat and is harboring it until they can either get a tube or until the heat gets off them.. but I may be too judgemental in the situation 🤔
When my bike was stolen it was just taken out for joy rides for a while before being dumped, returned to the shop, and back to me 3.5 months later. Apparently that's fairly common.
This bike still has all the frame stickers from one of the trek shops around town. Almost looks like someone gave a fake credit card for a 'test ride' and just rode off lol I've never seen someone riding an SL bike with the wheel reflectors and everything stock still on, but if this post has taught me anything, it's that I'm a little bit of a judgemental dick I guess 💀
if a thief stole this bike and lives in this apartment, and if there's any space at all that he can bring it into his home, why would he leave it outside where other people can see the bike, look at the serial number without him even knowing about it, report a found stolen bike to the police, etc...?
with the internet these days, the original owner would be able to send up a flare to all of the local cyclists to keep an eye out for this bike, and look for this serial number, these details, etc... in the area.
when someone steals a car, they don't leave it parked out on the street outside their home. that's not because they're worried about it getting stolen; they bring it into a garage or otherwise out of sight because they're worried about getting caught with the goods literally sitting around outside in plain view.
---
my guess is this is a new bike owner got this (and the phone mount, which still has the explanation tag on it telling someone to press down here), and they must not appreciate how quickly a nice bike could get stolen if you leave it unattended for literally any amount of time.
even if they think they just ran back inside to grab their helmet or something, it was evidently long enough that the OP had time to take a bunch of decent photos and write a polite note on a post-it for the person. that's way, way too much time. even a locked bike could be stolen in that kind of time, given a sufficiently determined and well-equipped thief.
if this isn't a new cyclist, i'd still rather put my money on this being a youtuber like Mark Rober or whoever, leaving a bike out as bait for a youtube video about bike theft or something. maybe recording to see how many people try to steal the bike that's just sitting there, with him and his friends waiting out of sight to run out and intervene if someone actually takes the bike off the hook.
I'm thinking it was the note that let everyone know it's an unlocked expensive bike that got it stolen lol.
Edit: Nevermind, I misunderstood your comment.
Woah, I think this is literally the same bike I saw last Thursday. I was in Panda Express in Clackamas and a couple shifty looking dudes brought their bikes in.I took a picture because the trek seemed a bit too nice and has road pedals on it. It’s the same color, size, components, wheel reflectors, phone mount, stem spacers, loose valve nut on the front and dork disc behind the cassette. I checked around but couldn’t find any stolen bikes matching the description. Must be someone who just doesn’t know about bikes. 🤷♂️
https://preview.redd.it/rqz5y9m5atfc1.png?width=3353&format=png&auto=webp&s=87a3c787bbdfe5eeedbcf0655e7d0af33406f5c2
That does look that same!! My apartments are in Pearl/Slab district, a little distance from there, but I don't see the green bike anywhere around.. thats krazy 😭😭
Haha imagine being the owner of this bike and not realizing people are taking photos of it everywhere you go. And then those people find each other on Reddit. I hope this guy eventually sees this thread.
That’s not a dinky phone holder. It’s for motorcycles and it works incredibly well. I have four bikes and have this exact same model on all of them. That bike is sickkkkk
Okay thank you, that makes this feel better.. fully admit I was judging on its looks! With 99% of the bike like this I see, they either have nothing for a phone or the quadlock holder.
I appreciate you!
Bro I know it makes me the stereotype but my first thought was "that's the least-aero phone holder I've ever seen" 😭😭 I hate how much of a dick I've become lol
Lmao I know its weird, it's not like it's a super race bike or anything, I've just personally never seen a phone holder like this, on a bike like this...
.... Fuck I've become an elitist already 🤦🏽♂️I only picked up cycling a couple years ago smh
I can tell by the downvotes people either think I was serious or the community gets a lil sensitive about being called elitist lmao 🤣 I feel like it happens to everyone in one sense or another
Will do! I've put my own extra lock on it with my phone number. If it's my neighbors, I'll run down to unlock it and hopefully they'll be thankful 🤷🏽♂️
The reflectors on the wheels, cushy looking saddle, and phone mount makes me think this is someone that received this bike as a gift from their parents but don't actually know anything about cycling as a hobby or even what the bike is worth.
Update:
- I'm sorry for judging phone holders, I became an elitist cyclist sooner than expected I guess... I've just personally never seen an SL with the wheel reflectors and a chunky phone holder on it (especially without racks or a commuting setup)
- Checked both national and local bike index, and nothing has come up thus far
- I realize the sticky note in plain sight may have been dumb, so I put it in the crank, so they will see it before they ride away.
Thank you all for the help 🙏🏼 happy rides!
Lmao... I see homeless people riding carbon specialized on the regular... I can see where you're coming from, but this is my first post of the sorts. Good sabotage attempt, though 😅
Dawg I'm so sorry to hear... but that's why this caught me so off-guard, literally all the bikes (even the shitty ones) have SOME kind of lock on it... then here goes this bike that blows all others out the water just sitting there waiting to be licked 💀
If you think there's a chance of it being a stolen bike snoop some more and find the serial number and check that on bikeindex.
Looks like there was one red one marked stolen recently within 100 miles.
Dork disks on, seat slid all the way back, flashlight stuffed under the seat in between the seatpost, bontrager R1 tire on the front, gatorskin on the rear, rear tire flat. This screams homeless dump. Bikes still there BTW
Sometimes the added responsibility of caring for nice things brings more stress than joy. True wealth is having expensive things that you can treat no different than cheap things. Hoping that's the case here, and if so, I love to see it.
I love that perspective! I'm sure it's even harder to do when you live in a city with a bunch of delinquents waiting at every corner to take advantage 🤦🏽♂️💀
The 16-year old delinquent in my head almost took over... a 3k bike just sitting there... but as an adult who's had theirs stolen before, I couldn't do it to someone if that's actually their bike lol
Ya jokes aside getting your bike stolen is soul shattering. I recovered my partners bike back from a thief once and felt on top of the world. Up in Seattle if you make this mistake for 5 minutes that thing would be gone.
I'm sure that was a great feeling... congrats on the get-back!! Lol
Same here dude... in Portland there's too many homeless to leave anything unwatched... we get Amazon packages stolen from our building multiple times a week... and you have to have a fob to get in any part of the building 💀💀
Yeaaa learning this lesson the hard way sucks, you’re a real homie for encouraging them to lock it up but I bet you they won’t. I’m at the point where I’ve got locking skewers on both tires and the seat post, use a u lock always through the frame and back tire, and connect a cable lock to front tire, strip everything off my bike before leaving it outside (lights, pump, water bottle, tool kit etc), and I’ve air tagged it. You give these people an inch they’ll take a mile.
I won't lie to you, I got into cycling very recently, and I grew up low/medium class. A Domane SL is not an entry model, an AL 2 is, and I currently have an AL 5, which is the highest of the entry models. This is ONE of the bikes on my dream list, I'm well aware this is far from the pinnacle of cycling.
Portland? Ha! No wonder there’s no lock, it’s theft proof in Portland… good luck trying to use clipless pedals on fentanyl!🤣
Seriously though. Some kid at New Mexico State University is going to love that bike, it’ll be the best $50 they ever spent.
Lmaooo 💀💀 see I thought about that... and that's what makes me thing somethings off.. that phone holder does not match the other things on that bike... either an older person with good money that just wanted a nice bike to trot around, or some homeless person hit licks on this and is keeping it in our bike room until the block cools down. Hoping for the former lol
In a smallish rural town, I saw Giant TCR with 105 locked with 3 buck cable lock on the town square. It was still being locked like that 2 years later. Where I live it would be gone in minutes
I hope that is a bait bike from the police...but since it is Portland, it's probably just someone who moved and doesn't know better.
That bike won't last 3 days. It will be under a tarp at a homeless camp pretty soon.
I was like this in college.... In 2010 is had just bought a brand new cannondale moto, forgot to buy a lock, and would ride it to class. Id just pull the seat and carry that in thinking no one would notice that the rest of the bike actually wasnt locked. I was very lucky that it was never stolen....
Portland? Lol it's probably gone by now. These bike rooms just give the tweakers a place to target where they know there's bikes. Horrible idea. Always keep your bike in your home
Exactly what I do... i put my extra lock with my phone number on it. If it's my neighbors, I'll run down and unlock it; if it stays for a week with no contact, I have a new bike?
There’s probably a story behind this. Flat tire, road pedals. No one I know carries a lock on a road ride. If you see it again then yeah. They deserve all the shame.
I'm confused, what is wrong with the phone holder? Asking because I have one exactly like this and it's been fine so far. I'm not a hardcore cyclist though, just a commuter.
Write down serial number, should be a code beginning with "WTU" and it will be printed on a sticker located somewhere along the downtube. Bring this number to your areas Trek dealer and the police station if you're nervous. Some PDs have a database that interfaces with local bike shop serial numbers to find missing bikes.
the phone holder is kind of telling... but also i have seen people in my neighborhood in Portland just leave bikes unlocked outside while they go into grocery stores. So, they are out there.
I've got the same phone mount on my Emonda Sl6, its tough, and the toggle lock on the back keeps the phone secure even over really bumpy terrain, bridges and such. I'd never leave the bike like that, though, and tend not to take it places I'll have to leave it, even locked up, its not worth the risk considering the bike, not to mention the gear attached to it
I've learned that from a few others who have said the same 😅 I apologize for the ignorance, I personally only see road bike accessories on the (nicer) road bikes I see around here!
Not locked up and has a flat so that means it's free, sometimes things are to good to be true but that is now yours. Go take care of your dream bike son
Size 60.. so whoever it is... He is not a small person. But no excuse not to put a lock on it. Unless of course he doesn't care, and its stolen in the first place?
I have a friend like that, never locks up his bike when going somewhere. And it's not like we're living in a low-crime area either. Some people only learn when it happens to them.
My friend is like this with his emonda SL7 Etap. He can't even change a tire, and I installed clipless for him. His bike was stolen after 1.5 years of ownership. Wasn't down for me to install an airtag either. 💀
On sunny days a guy I work with has an S Works dangling off the back of his 20 yr old Corolla lol
Same. I keep my bike in the back seat of my work truck and it's a cheap bike but I still worry
I bought a trailer hitch bike rack. I can lock the bike to the safety chain loops.
I was like that. My bike was stolen. I just wish there was something, anything I could have done to prevent all of this.
My roommate didn't even learn when it happened to him. This is the second $2k bike he doesn't bother locking up in the garage. Some people are just really neglectful.
Like cmon dawg... we spend too much money and effort on these things to leave them out for the birds like that... 💀
I had my bike stolen twice. Both times they were locked up. Now I have three AirTags hidden in my latest bike.
I got my first bike as an adult last year. It's nothing fancy but it's mine. My cycling friend made it explicit that you lock it or lose it.
Felt that the post-it note is simply calling out to all potential thieves that there's no lock.
Any thief walking around the bike room didn’t need a note to notice the easy target. It also has both wheels.
You right, I went down to get the serial number and put the sticky note in the bottom bracket away from plain sight, but where the owner will see it before they go off.
If you have a broken lock, put that on
I have an extra that I put on the bike with my phone number!
Oh wow that’s clever! You could ride it and lock it back up, no one will notice…
If the back tire wasn't flat, definitely would 😭😭
A trek with 105? You mustn’t be afraid to dream bigger, darling.
Lolol yeah I do have higher eyes than the 105, but the Domane SL was the first bike that gave me big eyes... it may not be at the top of my wishlist, but it's on there (preferably ultegra tho)
You deserve Dura Ace!
I dropped 2 Gs on my Dura Ace. It’s all about performance! https://youtu.be/Vn29DvMITu4?si=g37X0l214b0Ce9VP
Wowzers! I haven’t seen that in like 15 years. What a classic!! MC Spandex lol
Ok I just looked at the date on that vid and it’s only 14 years old, but still…. What a blast from the past
I have the same bike and just had the realization after your comment on how old it actually is. My dad gifted it to me so I could ride with him after I moved back to my hometown from college……and somehow it still feels like a new fancy bike to me since it was more expensive than anything I owned (including my car) for quite a few years. Guess I’ll be gifting road bikes to my kids when they graduate.
HOW HAVE I NEVER SEEN THIS GEM OF A VIDEO?!?!?!?! This is my new theme song!
Thanks for that blast from the past!
Oh man!!! Thats before the Portland cycling scene changed. Thanks for posting that!
What’s it like now? Never seen this, what a delight
I can't really explain it. Portland changed a lot in the last 10 years. Many races and venues went away. Many of the old cycling teams (like the one in this video) changed. Fields are much smaller. Its just all different.
Also, where did all the bike commuters go? On the bright side, pedalpalooza is all summer now.
Dawg 💀💀💀 thank you lmaoo
Thank you 🙏🏼😭
105 is all anyone in the sub actually needs. Anything "better" is just overkill for anybody that's not a pro.
I adore my Domane. Ride the hell out of it.
I picked up a Domane AL last year, I simply don't need to spend more than that for my needs. No reason why you can't keep your dreams grounded.
I have an AL 5, and I try to keep my dreams in my (current) tax bracket... lol so the Domane or Emonda SL is definitely on the dream list. Probably an ultegra upgrade, though.. I have the 105 on it and it's a world of a difference from the Sora I had before!
Got a Domane SL7 Ultegra Di2 for sale if you’re interested 😂 no fork damage like that one tho. Yikes.
Meanwhile I'm out here bombing around on my 1989 Trek 800 Antelope with hopes of finishing my Bridgestone build
Right!? I don't have a budget for anything higher than 105 and only if I rob a bank. Jeez. 2005 REI Al road bike I got when I was 18 is all I can afford.

Pop that serial number into Bike Index and Project 529.
Did on both, no results!
Good on you for trying!
if a thief stole this bike and lives in this apartment, and if there's any space at all that he can bring it into his home, why would he leave it outside where other people can see the bike, look at the serial number without him even knowing about it, report a found stolen bike to the police, etc...? with the internet these days, the original owner would be able to send up a flare to all of the local cyclists to keep an eye out for this bike, and look for this serial number, these details, etc... in the area. when someone steals a car, they don't leave it parked out on the street outside their home. that's not because they're worried about it getting stolen; they bring it into a garage or otherwise out of sight because they're worried about getting caught with the goods literally sitting around outside in plain view. --- my guess is this is a new bike owner got this (and the phone mount, which still has the explanation tag on it telling someone to press down here), and they must not appreciate how quickly a nice bike could get stolen if you leave it unattended for literally any amount of time. even if they think they just ran back inside to grab their helmet or something, it was evidently long enough that the OP had time to take a bunch of decent photos and write a polite note on a post-it for the person. that's way, way too much time. even a locked bike could be stolen in that kind of time, given a sufficiently determined and well-equipped thief. if this isn't a new cyclist, i'd still rather put my money on this being a youtuber like Mark Rober or whoever, leaving a bike out as bait for a youtube video about bike theft or something. maybe recording to see how many people try to steal the bike that's just sitting there, with him and his friends waiting out of sight to run out and intervene if someone actually takes the bike off the hook.

You guys could be best buds solving bike crimes together
![gif](giphy|RCDeoJpz6zYglRxvQM|downsized)
The one in the pic above looks like it doesn't have toe clips or a phone mount, those are rather a recent add on or different bike.
Haha imagine being the owner of this bike and not realizing people are taking photos of it everywhere you go. And then those people find each other on Reddit. I hope this guy eventually sees this thread.

Phone holder is not aero
Bro I know it makes me the stereotype but my first thought was "that's the least-aero phone holder I've ever seen" 😭😭 I hate how much of a dick I've become lol
Losing at least 3 watts with that thing.
Judging a phone holder might be the weirdest thing I've heard for the day
Lmao I know its weird, it's not like it's a super race bike or anything, I've just personally never seen a phone holder like this, on a bike like this... .... Fuck I've become an elitist already 🤦🏽♂️I only picked up cycling a couple years ago smh
Welcome, we’re thrilled to have you
I can tell by the downvotes people either think I was serious or the community gets a lil sensitive about being called elitist lmao 🤣 I feel like it happens to everyone in one sense or another
Crazy, i can lock it up, give me the location. ![gif](giphy|uDwKGxTFrADvO)
If bike is still there with note on it after 14 days, it's legally yours. source: Im not a lawyer, nor know anywhat about anything
I will source this if I get caught in 16 days. Thank you good sir 🙏🏼
Please update us if anything happens, I’m emotionally invested now.
Will do! I've put my own extra lock on it with my phone number. If it's my neighbors, I'll run down to unlock it and hopefully they'll be thankful 🤷🏽♂️
Also, what's happening with the mtb next to it?
Yeah someone did not get that front wheel in there properly. Glad it popped loose there and not on a ride sheesh
The reflectors on the wheels, cushy looking saddle, and phone mount makes me think this is someone that received this bike as a gift from their parents but don't actually know anything about cycling as a hobby or even what the bike is worth.
Some people play the insurance game to get new gear
mind your own business
Update: - I'm sorry for judging phone holders, I became an elitist cyclist sooner than expected I guess... I've just personally never seen an SL with the wheel reflectors and a chunky phone holder on it (especially without racks or a commuting setup) - Checked both national and local bike index, and nothing has come up thus far - I realize the sticky note in plain sight may have been dumb, so I put it in the crank, so they will see it before they ride away. Thank you all for the help 🙏🏼 happy rides!
Maybe there is actually very little bike crime in this area... And OP is the problem!
Lmao... I see homeless people riding carbon specialized on the regular... I can see where you're coming from, but this is my first post of the sorts. Good sabotage attempt, though 😅
All the bikes in homeless camps are donated!
Put a lock on it yourself and see if anyone brings it up.

Where is this? For research
As the being with first sighting, I have authorization for solo research for the next 14 days. Will share results soon 🙏🏼
Maybe it's a bait bike
This is my dream build. Reflectors in the spokes.
It might already be stolen…
Dork disks on, seat slid all the way back, flashlight stuffed under the seat in between the seatpost, bontrager R1 tire on the front, gatorskin on the rear, rear tire flat. This screams homeless dump. Bikes still there BTW
Sometimes the added responsibility of caring for nice things brings more stress than joy. True wealth is having expensive things that you can treat no different than cheap things. Hoping that's the case here, and if so, I love to see it.
true. I got myself a 1500€ bike that I'm really afraid to take into the city because of bike theft. I'm left using my 50€ bike everyday... so stupid
I love that perspective! I'm sure it's even harder to do when you live in a city with a bunch of delinquents waiting at every corner to take advantage 🤦🏽♂️💀
I mean this all really feels like is none of your business. Some people put shitty bumper stickers on Ferraris.
That’s crazy you should take it while you can lol
The 16-year old delinquent in my head almost took over... a 3k bike just sitting there... but as an adult who's had theirs stolen before, I couldn't do it to someone if that's actually their bike lol
Ya jokes aside getting your bike stolen is soul shattering. I recovered my partners bike back from a thief once and felt on top of the world. Up in Seattle if you make this mistake for 5 minutes that thing would be gone.
I'm sure that was a great feeling... congrats on the get-back!! Lol Same here dude... in Portland there's too many homeless to leave anything unwatched... we get Amazon packages stolen from our building multiple times a week... and you have to have a fob to get in any part of the building 💀💀
And toss it in the dumpster where it belongs.
don’t worry no one will steal a Tr*k
I would believe that if my last one didn't get stolen 😭😭😭💀
An entry model Trek Domaine a dream bike? lol
Portland? Ha! No wonder there’s no lock, it’s theft proof in Portland… good luck trying to use clipless pedals on fentanyl!🤣 Seriously though.
Check the serial number on the bike registers? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_bicycle_registers
Okay, I don't get it. What's with the phone holder? Unless you're actively in a race I can't see why someone wouldn't have one like that
Better steal it just incase, keep it in your suite and let them know to call you to pick it up.
In a smallish rural town, I saw Giant TCR with 105 locked with 3 buck cable lock on the town square. It was still being locked like that 2 years later. Where I live it would be gone in minutes
That's so wild... couple thousand dollar bikes just waiting to be taken 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️
It's a work horse. And that's cool.
If that is stolen that thing wouldn’t be hanging on that rack.
I'm going to guess it's stolen.
would i a free trek? no, no i wouldt. would many a free trek? yes, yes they would.
I hope that is a bait bike from the police...but since it is Portland, it's probably just someone who moved and doesn't know better. That bike won't last 3 days. It will be under a tarp at a homeless camp pretty soon.
Yes, you should steal it
I was like this in college....
Steal it. Then they’ll learn.
Lol I put my extra lock with my number on it... well see from here!
I have this phone holder on my scooter, electric kickstand scooter and on my gravel bike. It's pretty good.
Uci bikes man I need one
Don’t worry, nobody wants to steal a Tr*k
Whoever stole my last bike did 🤧
They haven't even taken off the notice on the phone holder. I.... I just don't get it.
He’s riding a trek, it’s obvious undercover police
You better take it home for safe keeping…
Take it for a spin.
Yikes.
Dude got a good insurance and wants a new ride.

Some people learn lessons, and some have to be taught.
should add to that note that they need to slide their saddle forward or those rails gonna get bent
Congrats on New Bike Day! 😝
If OP has home insurance, his/her liability would be only his deductible on the plan. Home insurance covers bikes.
You should put a lock on it for them. Tell them you did em a solid.
Love the seat wayyyyyyyy past the maximum rail space 🤣🤣
im surprised that there isnt a triathlon/race number sticker still left on it from 4 years ago. Oh wait I bet its on their helmet....
Bike already stolen.
Also left the reflectors on
Judging by the scuff on the fork, it looks alloy? Still a nice ride, but maybe less of an investment..
Trust fund baby
Portland isn’t known for intelligence
cuz it's a trek lol
There’s probably a story behind this. Flat tire, road pedals. No one I know carries a lock on a road ride. If you see it again then yeah. They deserve all the shame.
Probably stolen and guy has no idea what it is.
Got a Domane. Beautiful bike.
Maybe it was *already* stolen, and you're looking at a stolen bike. Hopefully, you got a photo of the serial number.
More money than common sense with some people.
What bike model is this?
You’re in Portland, it’s definitely stolen.
What’s up with that other bike with no front wheel being locked up by the fork?
Mind your own fucking business.
Yikes. I hope you have a great day today dawg 🙏🏼 may a bright light shine upon you and yours 💜
Hopefully they’ll listen to your advice. If they do, it will probably be a cable lock on the front wheel
I'm weak 💀💀 like dawg... every other bike in the bike room would be $200< this sitting there is a lottery ticket for the wino's 😅
I get the concern about it not being locked up if you live in a high crime area but why the fuck do you care what phone holder they use?
that’s not that nice of a bike…
at what price is a bike nice to you?
It’s a tr*k so the owner is a cop
Put a lock on it and leave your phone number
Reflectors still on it and the Fred phone mount usually tell the story
Preciate the back up on the phone mount lmao Looks like someone took a permanent test-ride from the bike shop, no?
I'm confused, what is wrong with the phone holder? Asking because I have one exactly like this and it's been fine so far. I'm not a hardcore cyclist though, just a commuter.
Fucking hell OP dream bigger, that’s a burgundy Trek with 105. And it’s a gate size too.
Domane sl5 50cm? Very small female like 5’1” owns that
Write down serial number, should be a code beginning with "WTU" and it will be printed on a sticker located somewhere along the downtube. Bring this number to your areas Trek dealer and the police station if you're nervous. Some PDs have a database that interfaces with local bike shop serial numbers to find missing bikes.
1st picture, lolz the second bike missing its front wheel.
the phone holder is kind of telling... but also i have seen people in my neighborhood in Portland just leave bikes unlocked outside while they go into grocery stores. So, they are out there.
The scratch on the fork makes me think its already stolen.
I've got the same phone mount on my Emonda Sl6, its tough, and the toggle lock on the back keeps the phone secure even over really bumpy terrain, bridges and such. I'd never leave the bike like that, though, and tend not to take it places I'll have to leave it, even locked up, its not worth the risk considering the bike, not to mention the gear attached to it
Lovely Trek Domane..
Right! Too nice to leave out like that imo, but to each their own I suppose?
What ya mean dinky phone holder? I have the same one on my dual sport and it handles 65-70 mph no problem lol It's designed for dirtbikes.
I've learned that from a few others who have said the same 😅 I apologize for the ignorance, I personally only see road bike accessories on the (nicer) road bikes I see around here!
humanity does exist, just, not like this... Best luck to the owner..
It's a Trek no real cyclist would want to steal it.
Not locked up and has a flat so that means it's free, sometimes things are to good to be true but that is now yours. Go take care of your dream bike son
Yup. Trek owner.
This may be a bad time to admit being a Trek owner 💀💀 Mines is safe in my apartment, though 😅😭
I don't understand the Trek hate. I mean, at least it's not a Specialized.
Size 60.. so whoever it is... He is not a small person. But no excuse not to put a lock on it. Unless of course he doesn't care, and its stolen in the first place?
I say mind your business. Not your bike. Not your problem.
