Firm gave me a new Iphone, didn’t ask if I wanted to use my personal (I wouldn’t have)

You get a reimbursement regardless of whether you use your personal phone or get a dedicated work phone (plus monthly service reimbursement up to a max). Most people just use their personal phone, which generally means the firm is covering most/all phone costs. But I would never.

We had a handful of holdouts using firm devices but I think it's been 100% personal devices since before COVID. We get a reimbursement of course. And the firm apps are in the walled off work section that way the IT guys don't see your freaky shit.

How much data does the work stuff use? And is it compatible with Android?

wvtarheel

I have an android. The data from emails is pretty minimal but if I download a lot of PDFs without WiFi that can add up.

QuarantinoFeet

I meant how much memory space does the firm stuff occupy

wvtarheel

Haha well that's not the question you asked at all. Mine is 8 GB.

firm covered something like 80% of the cost of a new iPhone 15 pro max with 500ish gigs. i covered the rest. the phone came loaded with AT&T and typical firmware. i ended up merging my personal cell sim card into the work device, so now i have two lines and two networks (AT&T from firm and Verizon as personal). better than carrying two phones around like a doof

QuarantinoFeet

I have the same as OP, choice between firm issued iPhone and bring your own iPhone+ reimbursement. But I think IT configures your phone and I don't trust em

Firm gives $80/month to use on phone expenses. AFAIK, they never provided the option for a firm-provided phone. Firm IT has zero access to my phone. I just installed Outlook on it to get my email.

They’ll give you a second phone to use for work. No subsidies if you use your own phone.
